  1. The European City of Heroes servers will be offline for the implementation of a build on Wednesday 17th March 2010.

Start Time: 1PM GMT (14:00 Central European Time)
    Expected Duration: 2 hours
Expected Finish Time: 3PM GMT (16:00 CET)

1:07pm GMT and no server shutdown.
On the plus side our updater finally got updated with a new message, the downside to this is that once again it is incorrect.
  2. What makes this game worth it's monthly fee...

    The people you team with.
    The challenges you overcome.
The mutliple toons you create and level up and love.
The excitement of thinking up a new toon you want to create.

Your first villain/hero, and all the new story arc's.
Your first VEAT/Kheld, because you really really wanted one.
Having to ask for help because you can't find somewhere in Striga even though you have a 30 month vet badge.
Rolling your merits for a recipe with your fingers crossed every time for a good one.

Coupled with all that the fact that the monthly fee, yep thats an entire months entertainment, would not buy you one single shot of whisky in Norway.

You do however have to put up with a sincerely shockingly poor level of customer service and communication, offset by a superb team of dev's. (I guess we can't have it all)

    No GR for me!

SS big grtz to you on your new doggy, a rescue racing greyhound you wonderful person.

I am amazed to find you also have cats, I would never have expected the two to go together somehow.

Wishing you years of happy play together.
  4. Is anyone working on fixing this issue, or are a few of us doomed to spend eternity renaming our updater file when it decides to throw a wobbler?

A progress update would be most welcome.
  5. thank you both for your kind words.
I look forward to trying her out, in truth she is my other half's toon and he has now retired from being a superhero, so I decided to dust her off.
I would still love to see a couple of mids builds if possible before I start rebuilding her.
  6. Would someone/s please post some example builds for me to have a look at in mids.
Having run a search I can see 3 or 4 of which some are so old I get errors when trying to view them.
I am dusting off an old level 50 and she needs a serious overhaul and slotting session, she is a team player and the epic pool would be open to suggestion.
    many thanks
  7. Yes as Ohms has already pointed out, the event does seem to have broken Union. I have given up and left my toon locked in Croatoa I am sure it will get released at some stage.

I have to say not overly impressed by this event so far and I have been looking forward to it so much.

A log in message saying the event was live hours before it actually was, a forum message saying it will be live at 11:59est and then it goes live an hour or so earlier and now the first chance for the banner spawn event and it falls over.

I feel for you guys in the states on the busy servers, you must have healthier hamsters or you must be having a shocking time with lag if we on our little euro servers are struggling.

Yes it's a whiny post, feel free to flame away...
  8. all of Tyger's list I would go with plus,

water, my pool needs water not coloured floor tiles please.
Much more storage for stuff that needs storing, and recipes, please can we have a recipe storage, even just a little one.
  9. Sal's is a badgechat channel cross server for defiant and union, lots of chatter in there and organisation of various badge related fun. It is a public channel so anyone can join up and say hi.

Of the two primarily english speaking euro severs you have started on the quietest, you will however have access to Union also, so make another toon on there and give it a try.

If you are using a trial account I am unsure of the restricitions in place, that may have something to do with how quiet you are finding it.
  10. We have just done a Numina TF, was difficult being unable to see what zone everyone was in when we split up for the hunts. Not impossible just a pain. Everyone was listed as Perez for the first few hunts and then it was just the wrong zones compared to where they really were.

Also each time we zoned all the player names disappeared and left empty spaces where they should be.

This is a new thing for me since yesterdays patch.
  11. I don't think you have it wrong at all, I would also wait for the mission setter to click his glowie himself rather than racing up to it and clicking or, as often happens, stopping fighting to grab the glowie before anyone else can.
So whilst we. and lots of others will honour this particluar piece of team etiquette, lots wouldn't. Nor I am sure would they even give a second thought to it.

My other respected rule when joining anyones built team is to not start requesting changes, (up the rep/difficulty, do my mission, do another's mission. find us an xyz at) I just think it is poor show to come into an established team and rather than settling in and observing, start demanding. I therefore take a fairly dim view of the player who arrives and asks we change things to their liking within 5 seconds.
  12. Yes I also have had a number of very unsatisfactory encounters with customer support.

I think because this game has so many excellent qualities, when something is as bad as their support network it stands out even more.

To begin to go into the detail of my specific issues would be too tedious but I will mention their accounts department (so bad that last time I asked a very helpful forum mod to intervene and it got sorted), the prospect of jumping through this departments pointless hoops fills me with dread.

My other favourite would be where you encounter a bugged mission/Task Force and request the help of a GM. When the most of the team falls asleep at the keyboard waiting and you log into your PC the next day to find the obligatory e-mail saying as you were no longer available nothing could be done. You check the time on the e-mail and for sure it will be 10 minutes after you left the game.

Now we are all one forum and I see the Dev's coming in here and interacting with the player base, issue's being adressed, help being given, people being listened to, I do wonder how the poor service from customer support is allowed to continue. If the perception of customer support was as good as the regard the Dev's are held in by the players then threads like this would not exist.

Suggesting peoples perceptions are wrong because of xyz reason will not solve the impression that it is a second rate customer support service in comparison to the rest of the company. A shake up of current practises, response times and a new list of standard replies because the old ones are being used even when not relevant, might help.
  13. Reverse engineer may not be quite the correct term but what I am trying to get at is, after crafting dozens of IO's towards the invention badges it would be nice to have the option to uncraft/melt/unmake them again into a random selection of component parts.

You would get a random portion/percentage of the salvage back.
You would get a chance of a recipe back.
You would lose your invention fee.

This would help with a number of things, stop the market being flooded with them and stabilise the prices.
Help to unclutter those 4 benches full in the SG base.
And another...ooooohhh I wonder what I might get... moment, which I always like.
  14. Yep that sounds just like me, with the exception of the PvP which I have never really got around to.
I also love tinkering about in the base builder a lot, and new toons, oh I do love a new toon.

I also wander off and play something else for a couple of months and then come back full of enthusiasm again.
  15. This strikes me as just plain wrong.

After 2 weeks faffing about trying to buy extra slots in the first place as we all know, handing over money to NCSoft is almost as hard as building ikea furniture if you are over the age of 12, I find I can't actually use them because the store is down.

Can a redname explain to us why we are unable to use something we have actually handed over cash for please? and a time frame to correct this situation.

  17. I actually feel a little sorry for new players arriving into the game now, they will have nothing to compare to and will just assume we have always had awesome colour choices for our powers.
  18. Ah no matter, it's back again. Must have been me
  19. Is it just me?
I can enter defiant but not Union, managed about 5 mins play after downtime, went to switch toons and can't get back in.

    Can't promote

I't might be a bit obvious but members have to be online to be promoted.

    Salvage Issues

Have you used all your personal vault space, look out for vaults in cities and also in pocket D. You can also access them from a supergroup base if they/you have one
  22. It has always been an absolute pleasure to meet you in game or read you in the forums.

Wishing you all the very best during your break.
  23. EvE online - I played for almost 3 years and had a tremendous amount of entertainment for my money. Yes it is complicated, no there is no instant gratification anything you decide to specialise in requires a lot of effort.

The new tutorial has enabled fresh starters to gain a foot in the ladder of fun earlier, I played the free trial myself a few weeks ago and found it much easier to get going than back in the old days. Not enough to tempt me back to my old characters though.

If you want complex, absorbing, risk vs reward seat of the pants action coupled with long term commitment to your chosen path then this is the one to try.

World of Warcraft - Spent on and off 2 years enjoying to different degrees WoW. It is eyecatching, it's FUN, it's compelling and it will keep you going back for more if it hits the right spot for you.

It is also busy, every zone has all the pests you sometimes find in atlas tenfold.

There are many many nice people in WoW if you take the time to sift through the chaff and I have no doubt it will draw me back for another session in the future.

Age of Conan I had a recent look at, the graphics (the water, it is awesome) are staggering in places. They have taken a lot of ideas from WoW, the traders, banks, mail system, missions etc etc... for me there is something missing. It just doesn't quite do it, but there are still a lot of bugs being ironed out. It has room for improvement but I doubt the market will give it the time it needs to get there.

Guild Wars - tried it, wish I had saved my pennies, just not enough there in terms of content and character uniqueness to make me want to play it for more than 2 days.

I play too much hope this helps a little
  24. Many happy returns ML, and many more to come.

    Have a lovely special day.
  25. We were trying to get an ITF together yesterday morning, I bet it took 40 minutes to kick it off.

8 team members entered the first mission, 5 arrived on one map, 2 on another and one poor soul on his own on yet another.

We exited to reform, 2 disconnected and took an age to get back into the game. We could see their global name online but they were not actually online.

Off we went again and managed 6 on the same map and 2 on 2 other seperate ones.
40 minutes, many restarts and one team replacement later because one gave up from sheer frustration we got going.
