If they want to prevent farming and wish to make people actually pvp instead of just farm they might want to actually put some effort into the pvpo drop system. And defenitely take a look at the current pvp version 2.0 of course, but thats a discussion for another time.

Perhaps have the system record how long a fight is from first blow to finish, how many powers were used, amount of movement, how little insps/temps or how many were used and or some measure of how hard both combatants faught in a fight, etc. Then have some pvp credit or merits of some kind award based off that, so theres more incentive for active pvp. The more effort put in the sooner you get your reward.

Then you could just get a pvp recipe with credit/merits you've earned through fighting, be less farmeable and the market supply wouldnt suck as much as it does now.
    dont over think it.

    one a day

    24 hour timer

drop rate is 1/10 maybe 1/25

Now I can get down to some serious badging!

However, the question is this. I've been carefully bringing all my IOs up to 50th, but it struck me I'm likely to spend much of the rest of my time on this toon exemplared - I've no interest in grinding the ITF for purples until I have to pay someone to come by and dust me. Given the shallowness of the IO effectiveness curve, should I actually be targetting 40 or so (more, cheaper, sets available at 40, for one thing) to maintain more set bonuses when exemplared? I'm mostly Frankenslotted anyway, to be fair, which helps when exemplaring.

I know this is a bit of an "it depends" question but I'd still like to hear what people think.
First off Gratz its a long time since 2005 and glad i finnally dinged.

I suggest since u seem to run low level stuff a lot to slot your powers as yu get them to the appropriate levels.

example if you play below 40 mostly use a miracle in there and not a numinas set for the bonuses.

If for example you have resist sets dont use an aegis(also cause the bonuses are Ehh) use something lower than 40s or even into the 30s like the steadfast for te bonuses.

    Insp....

I actually store my rarest insp at WW i accidently used one(iron will) when i was doing some work on base before i finished it.

And now at the crazy prices for these i saw the last Iron will for over 50 mill. So i put the iron wils and disciplins in ww slots

I would be pissed if i used em.

I used them in test pvp w/RL peeps.

I am just trying to hoard em.

I'll agree that no player has a perfect understanding of the game economy, but that's not necessary in order to understand underlying forces that can drive trends.

There's an amusing sex advice columnist/podcaster named Dan Savage. He has spoken or corresponded with thousands of people seeking his advice over the years. He made the observation that inevitably when someone seeks his advice and says "Oh Dan, I date person after person year after year, and every single one is a complete jerk! They're all awful, every one!" that the common denominator there is the person complaining. So if every thread you are involved in degenerates into "the usual cluster @#$!", guess what? It's YOU THAT CAUSES IT. These forums are full of the most helpful and polite gamers around. If you look at your threads and the threads of a guy like Fire Kin Master (take solace that you don't come close to his nuttiness), you'll see people first trying to help, then becoming annoyed when rationality and decorum are thrown out the window.

I can guarantee some folks have learned things from this thread, but apparently you're not included in their number.

Oh look: I just facepalmed myself so hard I knocked my cerebral cortex out of my cranium!

It's funny that if that's what you were trying to find out, that the first time you mention it is now.

As has been explained many times in this thread, WE ALL UNDERSTAND where influence enters the economy.

I'll ignore explaining yet again the whole "inf generation vs inf sink" stuff, since you've been immune to that the last 10 times it was explained in this thread. Instead let's focus on the difference between inf generation and inf accumulation.

The total market for purples in this game is quite small compared to the tens of thousands of people still actively playing. Thus small changes in demand get reflected in the price of purples, but so what? It's like observing that a collector Ferrari went for a record price and going "why are all car buyers suddenly so rich?" Plus, prices for rare goods can spike regardless of whether overall money supply is growing or shrinking. All it takes is a small number of individuals who have been successful at accumulating wealth who are chasing after rare goods.

Let's run a small thought experiment: let's say that 10K players log in each day on average. And let's say that because that's a mix of all level ranges, that they generate about a mil of brand new inf each on average. That's 10 billion inf a day entering the game economy that didn't exist before. Some people are very good at accumulating that new wealth, and they in turn end up buying rare goods like purples.

Honestly, I don't know why this is so hard for you to grasp.

I would like to end this thread but since so many want it to continue here goes..

ok 10 bill thats ur number not mine

how many pvp proc is that a day

    5?

    7?

    10?

and you think all that in a day is only 10 proc in the pvp sets

so lets think about this maybe its also

at 200 mill an io for purples how many is that in a day(its way more than 200 mill for most)

    but lets use your numbers

    thats 50 in a day i think

what about the pvp ios then or the regular ios or the crafted stuff or the salvage.....

This is kinda where im going with this thread from the start there is more money changing hands then there are hands..

Its okay that most of you disagree with me but most people just love to disagree on the boards and argue their particular points....

My feelings will not be changed by hallow arguments. I feel i have done my rsearch (no i have not compiled a spreadsheet)

All i ask is that you go to the markets look for yourself disagree if you want thats fine, but, my beleife will stay the same. Some one is printing money or the marketeers have taken over ww/bm and no new players will be able to crack it with regular farming/play styles.

So we will be stuck in this trend. Which is fine cause all my toons and all my future toons are already finished. All left to do is for me to get like 12 badges on my main so in the mean time ill just have my fun and wait for GR.

I do find it surprising everyone that did agree with me is silent on the boards...

So to all who watch the Boards

    FLAME ON!!!!!
  17. i feel no need to continue this thread as i dont feel the urge to try and explain my thoughts or the tells in game and emails i have recieved.

    thanks for all your replies

    it has been very informative.'

    have a great day
  18. i was trying to raise a question about influence generation. I just was playing and enjoying how these post always seem to take off in a different direction even from the first reply.

My quest was to examine if the rates of influence generation could possibly account for the spike in prices of my marketing.

I have recived many different opinions and its kinda inconclusive actually. Many people give different and conflicting responses which i do find informative and even though contradictory they are still illuminating in different ways.

what we do not know we still cannot and that is whats the average influ generated bu the average of all players in a given month, and, that will sadly never be known so it is impossible to estimate what the effect of diminishing server pop (untill GR) vs. the increase in influ earning potential from recent updates( influ generation increases) actually is.

My hope was that some information could actually be had from a discussion but alas it has devolved into the usual cluster @#$! thats custom on the boards.

Thanks to all that have added comment to this thread and i hope some real information may be had at some point.

If anyone has actual information to input its appreciated but no one has.

All i can say is that i make about 50 mill a day from farming and i am earning about 300 mill a day from marketing i was trying to find out if this is indicative of others and who if anyone is actually making more so they can buy this stuff....

Remember earning influ only comes from killin stuff not marketing

I appreciate my customers at the marketplace i really do. However i was trying to find out whos affording this much for a panacea ora ragnarok etc....

I disagree my mommy told me that a special A.T. flying Crey swooped down and gave my mommy and daddy Influ/salvage/as well as merits

Take your lies to a different post.....

You know what i say is true....

But whos paying this much fpr my stuff....

    Villain Hami?

    UM superbowl? Hello....

    is this thing on....

Id come at 10pm est and id bring anything needed
  21. All of this has been very interesting and the private emails i have gotten also, the stuff on my server from this thread has been very informative and we all have different opinions.

But where is the INLFU/INFAMY coming from.....

I agree the rates of influ earning are way up.

So ill ask this when GR comes will i be even richer if thats possible.

Will prices drop when everone is back or will they go up?
  22. I think I need to bring everyone back to what i was saying in the origin of this post.

Selling to a market DOES NOT MAKE INFLU it makes you influ it does not create new influ for the entire economy as a whole.

Also there were hundreds of farmers lets say 1 year ago. I think we can all agree there are less now. I would say that the 10x player base generated more "NEW" influ then the current diminished base. AND YES the pop will go way up when GR hits.

SO if the player base is less and one year ago ios were out where is this extreme amount of new influ required to support this increase in prce coming from. I have been farming the whole time, Hell on my server we even had a farm channel. But there is no way the current player base is generating NEW influ even close to the amount just one year ago.

You could sell those same drops at a vendor for the same amount nothings changed.

But prices are amazing, I also think people are misunderstading me. I LOVE IT i have made a mint.

IM only asking where is this coming from.

We had hide a year ago and still you could search and find 800 on heros or 500 on vils at lets say 12 noon est now i search and i see 100 on heros and less than 50 on villans. I am not saying its the same on every server but its less on freedom too now.

So this extreme increase in prioces this "new" influ has to come from somewhere. What are your thoughts.

If you just disagree with me thats fine. But im not loking to discuss purple drop rates, or influ earned at the market. those things are nice and for a different disscussion.

KILL an NPC u get influ. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO CREATE INFLUENCE. "capitol period"

-Outside donations such as costume contests.

If your character does ONLY this from 1-50 you should come up with close to two to five million influence. Say Joe Blaster doesn't give a petunia about the Market and just vendors EVERYTHING. Vendor 5 Accuracy/Damage IOs (50) will give you 500,000 influence. Your mission will give you maybe 300,000 - 500,000 as well. You get 5 commons (5 x 250) one rare (5,000) and an uncommon (1,000).

There's a million or so right off. Once you have level 50 SOs slotted (that will cost you what, 4-5,000,000) you're in the clear correct? So...if you play the game you will continue to generate new influence. Forever.

It's like the old days before IOs. My bubbler would just run missions and get inf. Then she'd run Hami raids and people would give me 20 million for a Nucleolus, say. I'd pass that inf to alts for SOs and farm Dreck to get more inf.

Joe Blaster doesn't need purples or even IO sets to defeat the Guides, Tac Ops Commanders and so on. See? So you just vendor your stuff...if you play just an hour a night and make a million, after a month you'll have 30 million?

YES you get influ from sales but it is not generated. NEW generated influ comes from ONLY ONE way killing npcs

Costumes contests really? thats clearly coming from another player

    IM talking about NEW MONEY

    not old money

think about HOW new money comes about
