the poison heal is nice that it's a single target, so it doesnt need a to-hit check like /dark's, but the poison one heals a crappy amount of dmg (about 15% iirc) and costs a ton of endurance

everyone always just cites PFF and cries nerf if you ever mention force field, even though mm's PFF only provides half the def of a defenders, and now has a 2 min recharge, even though the rest of the set is lackluster (best skill is dispersion bubble, IMO, because of the status resists)

with PFF up, pets have crap dmg and accuracy, so players ignore them even more than usual, and relish in seeing how many yellows they have to pop to get through PFF (and trust me, they DO get through it...a LOT)

a good game designer makes the game fun for all players, not fun for the blasters killing a MM in 2 hits. why can't mm's get some fun (and survivability) in pvp too?

i hope follow-defensive actually recalls pets while on a team though, and stops the ai bug where they run off to the ends of the earth

they haven't said exactly what they're doing, but they did say toggle drops would be severely cut back, which most interpret to mean entirely, except for mez
  6. geombear

    Bodyguard

uhh..how? if all toggle dropping attacks (except mezzes, of course) are going to stop dropping toggles...what the hell mez does a /ff have? we have a knockback that's ignored by guys with acrobatics, and force bubble, which only repels people out of melee range...controllers can still kick our [censored]

so you're saying we get 3 powers from our secondary that are decent in pvp?

too bad detention field is hated by 99% of the population

and repulsion bomb sounds too funky for most people to even try it out (including me), plus toggle drops are getting nerfed in i7

how is that going to help against all the blappers in SC or warburg
  9. geombear

    Bodyguard

also the defender abilities that mm's get are much less effective for mm's :/

dont forget in the final pvp zone most heros will have tons of tohit buffs, completely negating even PFF's defense
  11. geombear

    Bodyguard

well you can't pop pff up unless it's been 2 minutes since you last used it

    stoopid devs

with my bot/ff, the only thing i can do is stand in the middle of my guys and spam force bolt

dispersion bubble and supremacy need me to be close to my pets, and i dont have any cool powers that /dark or /poison or /traps do, or hell even /arrow

whoever said /ff is the best secondary, lol. i'd say it's barely above trick arrow in effectiveness, the bubbles dont even add very much defense, and we dont get any buffs/debuffs/heals, and our one "attack" does minimal damage and only knocks someone back a little bit

the robot superjump is only vertical, not horizontal, and it's only on the tier 1 guys, so it's worthless

tp foe is too useful already, and it doesnt even have a prereqresite power to get to it

the middle-level ninjas have their own placate (which they cast at random, due to the AI), which actually puts the MM in more danger, since that's 2 less targets for enemies

it's pretty hard to make my guy look like his robots, i have to use my imagination, and my name still shows up to heroes as a big orange blurb of text

how long did the tank stand there afk? 2 minutes?
  14. geombear

    Bodyguard

no give us the nemesis version of vengeance when we die, but let pets live that would RULE!!
  15. geombear

    Bodyguard

well mm's are already gimped in pvp

i wanted to actually be able to be equal to a few sets, but i guess the devs just want blasters vs stalkers
  16. geombear

    Bodyguard

yeah, unless they change it to have pets defenses/resists included in the equation for their own share of the damage, i'll retire my bot/ff at 37 (7 bubs from force bubble and /ff keeps getting nerfed
  17. geombear

    Bodyguard

yeah, this won't increase our longevity by much, and doesnt increase our (pitiful) dps

guess i'll just keep my mm's out of pvp zones like i already do
  18. geombear

    Bodyguard

yeah, they didnt care about teammates before that damn patch

i liked how the ai worked before that POS patch, pets did exactly what you ordered them to do and nothing else
  19. geombear

    Bodyguard

ever since the dec 23rd patch (when pets started following other mm's for no apparent reason) i can follow my prot bots, have all my bots on autoattack, and go afk

    works pretty well
  20. geombear

    Bodyguard

yeah, we're saying this buff could've been better
  21. geombear

    Bodyguard

no, tp foe will be (as it already is) the easiest and cheapest (available at lvl 6) way to kill a mm

So basicly what you are saying is, that if we don't do anything and just stand there, we will be protected. If we actually try and fight, we will be cut down, in pvp just as easy as we already are...

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, they need to be set to Defensive/Follow not Passive. Defensive means they retaliate when they (or you) are attacked. The idea is that if you're getting attacked, you can switch to Def/Follow and bring up your bodyguards who will not only take damage for you, but attack the foe that is damaging you.

In PvP you can use Bodyguard to avoid alpha strikes, which will cause your bodyguards to attack the player attacking you. You can also get the alpha yourself by choosing attack my target, then quickly switching back into Defensive mode to absorb the retaliation. Actually, I can think of a lot of ways to use this. Good job!

    [/ QUOTE ]

that'd be nice if the pet AI actually worked that way on a reliable basis

most of the time when pets are in defensive they just sit around and take a potshot every 10 seconds or so, even if they're being shot
