Well, my brute Time's New Roman is ABSOLUTELY going to be gunning for the Cimeroran pets now (uh, as soon as I actually start running trials with him).
My Ill/TA will focus on Phantom pets.
My Grav/Storm will go for the Storm Elementals, even though she has the Tier 3 Warworks.
Past that, not sure. -
Quote:So really, the devs can keep developing raids that encourage the building different incarnate abilities for each slot, requiring players to keep repeating the trials. Devious.Knowing that Regen and Heal is king in the KIR (like it is in the Hami Raid), you make sure you keep up a healing bubble, fill your tray with greens, and you slot Rebirth.
(Seriously though, I wonder how many players will be generalists - they acquire tools to aid in each trial - and how many will stay specialists that are best-suited to a particular trial and primarily stick to that trial.) -
Ah, darnit - I should have known someone already made that joke. Apologies.
Better crowds on the weekdays maybe?
(I'd also like to blame the forum bug for messing up which posts I've read and haven't. Even if it isn't the forum bug's fault, I just like blaming it.) -
I do, but when I do I have the nagging feeling that I'm playing in a suboptimal manner (yay, 8 missions for...15 merits). Sometimes they end up being run only as fallback, if I've exhausted my alignment missions for the day but don't feel like playing another character.

Related to the meteor/shivan/Coming Storm talk...is there any information anywhere (I can't easily find it on the wiki) regarding the meteor plaque that was at one time on the Atlas Park station?
(or am I just imagining that there was one there at one point?) -
If these are indeed Titanic weapons, I would like to wield a cruise ship.

I had a new player asking me questions last night. On Infinity.
(Ok, one player doesn't prove much, but I did see plenty of people.) -
Quote:I'm just worried, were as before I was getting new powersets for free (not counting the ones which came with the paid expansion, but I put those in a different category) with my monthly fee, I'm now either going to have to wait to get them (save up PP) or pay out extra to get them now.Quote:To hit that goal, they want the 400 Point stipend to be "worthless" without seeming "worthless." They want us to appreciate the 400 points, but also have to buy into the Point Purchases on a regular basis to get more stuff and to buy in at a much higher level to get the REALLY good stuff in addition to the basics and the good stuff.
What is the common cry around these parts when issues don't offer content that satisfies? Well fine - I'm just going to unsubscribe until Issue __. I'll come back if they give us something cool. Then they come back and get the cool stuff just the same as those of us who've been paying the whole time.
This says "You can leave for a while. But be advised that when you come back, you may not have enough points for all the cool stuff that's going to be available. Keep that in mind when you make that decision." -
Quote:This wouldn't be a bad thing in my mind. They came out with four sets, fine. Of the four, so far I've really only played one of them (Electric Control). Ok, dabbled a little with Dual Pistols. But if a system allows a non-VIP player to easily purchase sets vs booster packs which were useless to them bc they weren't playing at all? If this can bring in the revenue to support the development of not four new sets but eight, that's fantastic.Another thought that comes to mind...
If they make powersets so quickly that it becomes a financial burden, god bless them.
But like Bill says - it's only good for us as long as VIP members get enough points to unlock at least four sets, plus at least the same amount of content they would have otherwise. I'd rather get four sets from a choice of eight than four from a choice of four. If I only get three (w/o value elsewhere), bad deal. -
Sometimes I make a run for the door and wait outside the mission until she cools down. Which admittedly is pretty non-heroic.
My controllers don't have a real issue with her. Locking her down is the best way to deal with her, if you have the tools to do it. My AR/Dev ran into her as an ambush though. He has no such tools. I auto-completed (after face-planting a couple times), ran to the Hero Corps rep to turn bosses back off, and vowed to auto-drop that tip whenever I received it. (At some point I also realized that my AR/Dev really isn't one of my more fun characters.) -
Congrats!!! I have the same goal, but I keep leveling up more controllers...

/still waiting on the warehouse map fix to alleviate lag leading to running into boxes, shelves and everything else cluttering the hallways

Quote:If you can go Permadom, then a Fire/Fire/Fire Dominator seems like it'd be an excellent choice. You can slow down the escaping minions considerably with Hot Feet alone, you crank out damage like a damage crank, and you're even able to stop the ambushes cold with a couple different powers.Quote:High AoE is good for the baf. Fire...kill it with fire.Quote:Plant or fire/fire/fire perma dom. For baf. My fire^3 dom can easily destroy 90% of what comes out of a door by herself. Imps+lore then I spam fire cages and fireball with rain of fire as it is available.
Key note: whatever you decide on, TAKE TACTICS.
* Hot Feet slows and damages escapees
* Rain of Fire slows and damages escapees
* Bonfire knocks back escapees, often forcing them to run through HF/RoF again
* Fireball!!
* Burn - yet another patch runners have to pass through
I also have a very fun time on the BAF with my Grav/Storm. I really don't get the opinion that "controllers are useless" here. They essentially serve as filters; I set up mine on the end of the kill box areas. Not that many minions get through. The lieutenants may, but they're focused on by everyone else in the choke points. Things my Grav/Storm has going for it:
* Crushing Field - up every 4+ seconds or so, and stops minions cold.
* Tornado - tears up halted minions, or follows and saps commandos.
* Freezing Rain - slows, damages, and debuffs defense
* Lightning Storm - if they run by it fine, but they'll be damaged in the process
* Singularity - my own personal bouncer.
* Lore pets - for cleanup.
The only real worries are the commandos that have already gotten past the main choke. I can attack them (Propel, Lift, etc), but that's taking time from recasting everything else. Those guys should have already been taken care of or dealt with by another goalie. -
Quote:And I really hope power customization will one day add more "magical-like" visual effects in general.Quote:Maybe I just don't understand something... but what would be in a sorcery set that can't be done with re-colored powers from pretty much ANY other AT? Isn't the whole point of Sorcery your ability to magically do things? I believe that is why the Magic Origin exists. Like I said, perhaps I am missing something... but all we need is a "Magic/Runes" customization option for some sets, and POW: Sorcery!
I wonder if the way this eventually may be realized (if at all) is through animation booster packs. "Buy the Magic Animations Pack - cast your powers by runes or wands!" Or the Tech Animations Pack (Captain Cold doesn't shoot ice from his hands, you know). Perhaps not the ideal (free) solution, but possibly a more likely one. -
I'd be for this. If I want to make a Praetorian, I'll make a Praetorian and start there anyway. If I want a red-side blaster or a blue-side MM, I see no good reason to have to wait 20 levels then have the character go through some forced moral epiphany.
No problem with limiting it to those who have GR or excluding the epics.
(Now, I do wonder if there is some coding obstacle to gating those w/o GR; Praetoria itself is gated, so no need to check at the character creation screen as all non-EAT are viable options for everyone. To have red-AT added blue-side, I guess there would need to be some unlocking as is done with Khelds) -
Quote:I considered doing this on my Widow to actually be able to keep two costumes that can use the widow pieces (really unhelpful implementation, that). But I hardly play my Widow anymore so I never bothered.WARNING: This could get expensive, depending on what you consider "expensive".
So this isn't new, but it's new to me. You can get three extra costume slots from doing tailor missions. Check. You can get one by buying Halloween salvage and turning it in. Check.
BUT if you want more than that: You can save your costume at the tailor, then change to a new one [and save THAT.] You can make as many saved costumes as you want, then when you want a costume that's not currently in your closet, you can go to Icon and swap it in.
It costs a couple million inf to change your costume at level 50, but you can now have all the costume slots you want! -
Hmm...I have a Mind/Kin too and I hadn't really thought about it (down on the incarnate list as a character). It might depend on what you intend to do with your character.
I was playing my Elec/Sonic the other night and it occurred to me that for large groups, my Disruption Field toggle is a great way not only for me and my pets to do more damage*, but for confused mobs to down themselves faster. Solo, I'd say damage from confused mobs can be a decent chunk of damage. Considering that, I'm not sure the -ToHit from Diamagnetic is perfect; same could go for the -recharge of Gravimetric. or the -DMG in Paralytic, though the -DEF is certainly nice. I think I might lean to sticking with Reactive, just forgoing the Tier 4.
Teamed? I guess anything goes then, as not breaking sleep isn't going to really be an issue anyway.
* of course if you're Fulcrum Shifting and Siphoning Power and Speed from them, I guess you're already diminishing their self-damage capacity... -
Quote:I personally like straying a bit from the choke team, especially on the Team 1 path; I'll set up right where the path meets the barrack area. On my Fire/Fire blaster I place Bonfire a little to the west, then stand just to the east at the path start. Hot Feet and Rain of Fire to slow mobs as they try to run by, with Burn for extra damage. Bonfire ends up knocking most minions right back into me and they start the process again (there's also an incline here, with a lip between the path and the surrounding area - I think mobs will try to jump it but can get stuck). If Commandos aren't taken out, they are at least weakened; most minions are filtered out. I also like positioning there to act as a goalie if needed.Solid idea - though I'd perhaps mark some of the better points for people with Repel/KB auras as an "optional extra".
I can get similar results on my Grav/Storm; Crushing Field and Freezing Rain to slow mobs, Lightning Storm and Tornado to both damage and knock them off the path (their first priority seems to be to get back on rather than run willy-nilly), and Singy to work as a bouncer. I think for these toons, I can actually stay away from the team where my knockback helps to impede mobs without knocking them away from teammates. -
CoH analogue to Captain Atom (until they realized that nobody really cares about Captain Atom nor do they know what to do with him, so he might as well go back in storage)?

Quote:I missed a whole hospital cycle on one because my character couldn't move after getting up.What killed me (not literally - quite) on Virtue tonight wasn't the powers activating like I was in OG Hami or MSR environments, it was that when I hit my F-key to follow either Seige or Nightstar during that final battle, it took 3-4 seconds for my character to start moving.
Failed raid. Really un-fun experience. Somebody put the server gerbils out of their misery. -
Quote:Well, not sitting here whining, as I happened to forget about this for a few days (I've actually been running trials).Well, you can either sit here whining about it and hoping the devs change it (hint: It's probably not going to happen, since you can change it yourself), or you can use the tools they provided to take care of what bothers you yourself.
Actually, I do have a question about this. Yes, I had thought about doing this but I could have sworn the last time I saved and loaded it also saved and changed window colors. Now, I am probably odd in that I do actually change those in some cases. But to me it wouldn't be worth it if I would save one setting but overwrite another (but would gladly do it if that's not actually the behavior). -
Quote:I participated in four of them on Virtue last night and yikes, the lag was petty horrid (were you on the one where Siege regen spiked not once, but TWICE right when Nightstar went down? That was a doozie.) It did actually seem worse when the AVs were together rather than apart. It was worst when the 2 AVs are together. Separated, was definitely more than pre-patch but not as bad when they were together. Everytime the prisoner escape was worse than pre-patch, and it was pretty bad before. Raids in general give me some lag, but NOTHING like I experienced tonight.
Usual escapee lag as well. Server dilation really can be disruptive when trying to figure out which of Oil Slick/Glue Arrow/PA or Tornado/Lightning Storm/Freezing Rain are ready, that's for sure. -
Quote:Option 4 here too. In general, I'd rather avoid any Master of attempts - especially after running two aborted MoBAF attempts over the weekend that failed to complete at all. I'm hopping between X number of toons trying to work up the incarnate trees - I'm much more concerned with actually succeeding in trials than going for Master.I've been on 2 MoLambda attempts, and each time some moron tossed a grenade at Marauder after repeated instructions not to do so. I'm not trying for it again, period. The devs can fix the badges, but they can't fix stupid people.
