This makes alot of sense, but what would it mean in terms of new features in I11?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Rikti Homeworld!

With the newspaper story being how it all began!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wow. Yeah, ok. I'd buy that. This is the alternate time line that creates the Rikti.

    *spoilers*

Pretty serious spoilers if you haven't done any of the Rikti high-level missions yet... you are warned....

    * spoilers *

Rikti are more advanced than us, right? So it should be thousands or millions of years before we "evolve" into Rikit, but this many victims would ensure there are enough Rikti genes to last long enough for them to evolve.

So who would purposefully, or accidentally, want to create the Rikti home world?

If my arch-nemesis theory is correct, then it's an accidental by-product of removing *you* from the time line. The point of your arch-nemesis's interference in the time line was to remove you, but the result was to create the Rikti home world.

Ergo, it's time to save the world... again.

All these contacts dying being a reference to Ragnorok

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh, that's good. The very nordic look of the ouroboros definately fits a Ragnorok theme. Good catch!

Now, which villains do we know who would be involved in "Ragnorok....?"
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Now this is me tossing out a thought. I know this is not going to happen, but what if we are introduced a slew of new arcs and TF/SFs that have us chase someone through time to make sure events go accordingly not to alter history?

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is more or less what I was thinking, although I envisioned a regular story arc, not a full on TF.

    1. O noes y is every1 different?
    2. Wait! D.A.T.A. says someone removed me from the past!
    3. Fight some guys.
    4. Who is the mastermind?
    5. Fight some more guys.
    6. The master mind is my Arch-nemesis!!!
    7. Fight still more guys.
    8. Etc. until...
    9. Arch-nemesis is foiled, but escapes vowing to return.

And after that your "arch-nemesis" returns every few mishes to try to foul you up. Just like any mish with a Warshade or Peacebringer will include one random Void, any mish now might include your arch-nemesis as a "special guest star."

Just in case it turns out to be like this, so I can claim my free donut from Cryptic for guessing their mishes ahead of time.

Oh, and the ouroboros? I'm staring at the high resolution version right now guys (downloaded the wall paper). It's almost certainly wood, not brass. Magic or Nordic involved for sure, I say. I'll bet anyone here who says "brass" an old fashioned donut (from Faultline) that it isn't brass at all, it's carved wood.

    My 2 pennies.
  4. I read the whole thread, and I didn't see this, so here goes:

Yep, someone did thwart or erase *you* from history. Someone prevented *you* from rescuing Jenkins, or prevented *you* finding the formula for Outbreak so Dr. Miller could make an antidote.

But who would do such a thing? (And also what for a long time have we been also asking for?)

I propose that it was ... your arch-nemesis. Yup. States mentioned not too long ago that Positron had written up a really cool arch-nemesis story document that he had been wanting to try out for some time. Well, this is really cool, and it would certainly make sense that if someone was your arch-nemesis, he or she would try to rub you out of existence completely.

So that's my best guess. (And most original guess.) I actually like some of the other ideas here better, but I think that's the most likely. Arch-nemesis code going in for I11.

    My 2 pennies....
  5. 2nd addition:

Yes, the first thing you do in Outbreak is take a blood sample to Dr. Miller, so he can analyze it and stop the plague.
  6. Added:

Ok, the Breakout article is WRONG. The break out was not stopped. It's the whole villain arc, how each of us villains get our start. Jenkins was not captured, the longbow agents who overpowered him were defeated and Jenkins was rescued. I know this because *I* did it!! (Several times, in fact. )

And as other's have pointed out, many of the dead listed in the Outbreak article have not died. Hmm, isn't the point of the Outbreak tutorial to deliver a sample so the plague can be stopped? It's been a while since I paid attention to the tutorial text, I'm not actually sure....

Yeah, something fishy going on here.
  7. Front page of Paragon Times

    1. Outbreak

    2. Breakout

Both names of the tutorials for new players. New AT / powersets maybe?
  8. My guess?

The Wikipedia article also talks a lot about alchemy and mysticism in connection with the Ouroboros.

I think that there was a lot of criticism of I10 and how yet another opponent group that dropped principally tech salvage would skew the game. I think the next big group will have a mystical bent. Could be any one really. Maybe even old CoT will find some big, bad Trigon-like being who's going to enter the world (invasion part deux!) and we all gotta stop him.

Ok, there's my 2 cents. Now off to read the newspaper article.
  9. Cool write up!

My character has a Greek magical origin (imbued with magical power by Zeus and friends), so it's cool to learn that there are some other similar villains in CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure this is where you put the name of your character who had the problem, not "yes" "no." See UnSub's post just above for a correct version. They need the name of your character so they can check the logs.

In summary, this was explained when this template was posted.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

Agreed 100%. The AI in this mission is pretty ghastly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It seems to me that Pet agro in general could use a reduction. Maybe just set a maximum distance outside of which no pet will agro on anything. You have to bring them closer first.

Even as small as 60 ft. I think would be acceptable to most players. Who wouldn't like more control over their pets?

Just pointing out the fix doesn't need to be exclusive to this mission. Fix Pet AI and you fix all missions like this, and many pet issues too.
  13. I think Borea, the contact in RWZ, is bugged. Basically, she'll give missions to new comers, with out having them go through Levantera first or being at least level 40. This is pretty confusing; I know two people have accidentally starter with Borea as their first contact in the RWZ, with out realizing that Levantera was available.

I posted it up separately here:

    Borea is Bugged

Basically, I think it would be helpful if Borea required you to be at least level 40 before she gives you missions.

Or, require that players at least talk to Levantera first, so new comers are aware that there is a second contact for the RWZ.

This would be very helpful for people new to the zone, and levels 35 to 39.

  15. This is our villain base, for the villain group Eurostar on Champion. We're about as small as you can get, only one teleporter and one workshop. We should scale down to an oversight room, but I'm not the guy in charge of base building so I've left that much alone.

Anyone know how to fix the problem of the mouse pointer not agreeing with what is onscreen? I seem to have to click roughly 1 inch below what I want to click on. Plus, the top of my screen is cut off.... It almost seems like the game wants to be a little bigger than my screen. I'm using Vista and running the game in safe mode (If I run it in normal mode, it's a small window that shows roughly 1/4 of the game).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had this problem and I forget how I fixed it. Try starting in Safe Mode. Also check your command line option in the CoH shortcut, I had my extra options for Vista disappear once. It may have to do with the screen res, but I know I didn't change my desktop to fix it. And I couldn't get in game either. I think it might be part of the compatible cursor bug, make sure that option is on your command line.

I'd like to see Pocket D become a bit of a hub. Make mishes for varying levels from there. I'd like to see those people(and tiki masks) in green do more than just spout off. More portals to other zones. Hell, a base portal to there would be cool even.
    _
    Base teleporter beacon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I totally like these two ideas. I'd like to see some basic co-operative missions in Pocket D. Nothing fancy, just let me meet up with Heroes and Villains and do a mish. That, I think, would get more people in the zone. DJ Zero would be perfect for a contact for that zone.

Could we get a fix so that when you press the follow target key while hovering you don't stop short of melee range? Follow target is a critical part of the melee arsenal, and with hover looking more and more viable in close range combat, fixing this would ba a major QoL improvment.

...along with follow not sometimes droping to a crawl -again outside of melee range- when the trget happens to be moving slowly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is actually a great point and I'd second it strongly. I have a tank, and follow is very important. Target enemy + follow should = moves as fast as you can until you catch up. this might be ok for regular follow too (teammates).

    The algorithm is simple, however.

    If( target == mob || target.velocity == 0 )
then run as fast as possible
    else
run at closer to target speed

Right now the test is just for target.velocity.

    Epic Travel Powers
    - available after lvl 40 (to coincide with Epic Pools)

    Either as:

    a) fifth power in each travel pool (easiest), examples:
    - Fly -> subsonic (fast but LOW maneuverability, long turns)
    - Superspeed -> "boost jet" (allows maximum CJ+Hurdle heights while SSing)
    - Teleport -> team recall or combat blink (10 ft straight ahead)
    - Leaping -> "glider" (slows down the landing speed?)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup good ideas. Although maybe something a little nicer for TP (longer range? Limited flight after TP? Faster (recharge) group TP?)
