And I'll point out that I posted the same thing well before you , and further I provided more details.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why quibble over who started the idea. Discussions evolve and with every iteration, ideas may get better and more detailed.

If anything, if the devs see an idea being restated by many players might get more face time with them.

But if we're making a mini-game out of it...i do recall casually mentioning brainstorms as crafting components as well.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No worries from me. I think I saw your post, Snow_Globe, I just wanted to add the idea of making a second type of brainstorm. Right now, brainstorms are for converting base salvage only. If the devs want to force us to use Invention Salvage for empowerment buffs, then a second type of brainstorm is needed.

I just want to give the devs as many choices as possible. I really, really, don't want to have to run to the Auction House in the middle of a mission just for a buff. My overall goal here is less superfluous running around when playing CoX. Credit for ideas can go to whomever, I don't really care.
  2. [ QUOTE ]

Why not make invention salvage also convert to brainstorms? From my point of view, enhancement buffs are now to cumbersome and expensive to use with Issue 13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about expensive since many players have lots of Inf. But I have to double-plus agree with you about cumbersome. Really cumbersome. That's my complaint, that you need specific salvage, which means a trip to the Auction House, then back to the base. Not nice, imo. I'd really like to see less running around in my MMOs.

Players might adapt, but it feels like a step backwards to me right now.

<ul type="square">[*]Replace the salvage cost of empowerment buffs with a straight brainstorm cost?[/list]

Just wanted to point out that I had a similar idea (upthread, about page two). Hint, hint, devs. Great minds think alike. ^_^

    I wrote:

Here's a suggestion I have: Allow common salvage to be turned into Brainstorm Empowerments, similar to the Brainstorms now. Brainstorm Empowerments go in Special salvage and have a high limit (99 in your personal salvage?), but can't be traded or stored. Then just make each Empowerment cost X Brainstorm Empowerments as you feel required. This should very much simplify things, because we can just use any old salvage in our inventory. Even if the cost goes up 4x, I think it'll be easier still.

    Q. Are you guys aware of the general view point on your movement to the new invention system?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Extremely

We are in fact watching this very closely, and looking at options to improve it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just had to add a bit more feed back.

    1. Could the cost of a Vault be lowered? Last I checked, they were still 100k. They should be 15k, like a storage rack. Since Vaults only grant access to storage that players have already, it would be very handy to not be forced to run out of the base for salvage. This applies double when bases are new and not fully built out yet, and Prestige is still in short supply.

    2. Ditto for the Invention Workstation (name?) Players have access to these now, it's just a convenience to have them in base. They should be no more than 15k.

OK that's what I came up with today. Sorry if any of these things are duplicates or already been addressed, I didn't have time to double check each one. Take care.

EDIT: yup, should have checked first. Point 3 removed due to being a load of nonsense. Sorry about that.

Base Salvage is currently also used for Empowerment Buffs

    [/ QUOTE ]

Empowerment stations were limited to common salvage, so they would still be fairly cheap (With a few exceptions). However empowerment buffs are on my radar to be looked at.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem I think is the complexity of dealing with many varied recipes now. Players just want to "run and go" when they hit the Empowerment Stations, not have to stop play for a shopping trip to the Auction House.

If you feel Uncommon Salvage or Rare Salvage is required, you can just make the recipe Brainstorm Empowerment + the salvage. Or make some Uncommon Brainstorm Empowerments and Rare Brainstorm Empowerments.

I'd love to hear what other players think of this idea.

P.S. Variable access levels on all bins: very high want from players.

P.P.S. Also, separate Special Event etc. storage bins, but the access is probably a bigger deal.

P.P.P.S. Everything else is ok (30 limit on bins not great, but ok). The instant refund thing is awesome. Thanks for that!

  6. Base Repricing
    1) How will the repricing of bases affect you personally?

Our small VG is in good shape. We'll net about 1.5 million prestige to spend on extra goodies.

    2) Will you dismantle your base to gain the additional prestige from the repricing?

Yes, although we'll mainly just have to sell back the Control Room and Energy Terminal. These rooms are lightly decorated so it won't be a chore.

    3) How long would this process take you if you were to engage in this practice?

2-3 hours initially. There may be more time spent to get the new rooms fully decorated, but to get things functional that should be it.

    4) What are the positive and negative concerns regarding repricing?

I'm a little concerned about monthly prestige costs, as we had none before. However overall lower prices are going to allow us to expand easier.

    5) How will this feature affect you long term and short term?

Unsure. Short term is good. Long term uncertain.

Base Salvage Exchange to Invention Salvage
    1) What is the negative effect on your base for this feature implementation?

Hard to say. I did panic, craft some personal items (Teleporters) from current salvage, and placed large buy orders just in case for some critical pieces of salvage at the BM. I'm also concerned how this is going to affect costs for IOs for new characters (my new ones as I level).

    2) What is the positive effect on your base for this feature implementation?

Hopefully will simply things in the long run. I'm still confused as to what I need to do to transition though.

    3) How long will it take you to adjust to learning this new system?

    No clue.

    4) What side effects to this system do you currently see from transitioning the old to new system?

Costs for base items esp. Teleporters may go up. Also some items on the BM needed for IOs (Luck Charms) may become more expensive.

    5) What security concerns do you have regarding this change?

    None/unknown.

Matt miller didnt say that, the interviewer did. Everyone look, we just witnessed how a rumor is born!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yup, I skimmed it quick and misremembered that bit. Even though Posi didn't correct the interviewer, it was clearly the interviewer's opinion, not that of the devs.

    Sorry 'bout that.
  10. Interesting comment by Mat Miller: Willpower proved to be a very powerful defensive set, possibly the second most powerful right after Stone.

I wonder if this explains why Shield Defense seems toned down? Castle and Posi gun shy about giving away too much?
  11. This kinda sucks, because I had several Valkyrie toons planed for the new Shield set. Oh well, now I'm gonna be a clone.

Happy for Mac users and the new shinny though....

Its a hero trope, just like the praetorians.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, especially if the trope happens to be dressed in a slinky, revealing outfit that ... what? no not... Augh! BABs! Not the speedo! Geeze dude, I wasn't talking about you, just take that thing off right now and ... NO NOT RIGHT NOW! AUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!
  13. I thought I'd add my Legion of Doom idea. This is a mastermind who has other super villains as minions. It has various types of damage, and a fun look.

Tier 1: Wrist Flechette. Any good Mastermind should have a variety of gadgets. This wrist launcher has Med-Low damage but works like a Snipe: Long range and longish, interruptable root animation.

Tier 2: Dirty Fighters: Your basic starting sidekick villains. Dressed like Robin: T-shirt, no pants, flared boots and gloves, domino mask. Black and white colored costumes. Their theme is moderate damage, squishy like ninja, but they have some extra controls on their attacks. Notably I'd like to them to be able to "distract" opponets with a punch-voke attack.

Base: Brawl with punch-voke, handgun (evil ain't stupid).
1st Upgrade: Throw sand (small cone or AoE with Acc and Def debuf modest damage), Low-Blow (kick)
2nd Upgrade: Smoke bomb (AoE damage, -Pcn and -Acc), Face kick, Round House

Tier 3: Eye beams. I'd like the MM to be able to simulate either a gadgeteer with this set, or a MM with actual superpowers. Eye Beams are just energy damage.

Tier 4: Level Up: Adds 1st upgrades to your Henchmen.

Tier 5: Null Beam: the MM shoost a red beam with electricity like SFX from a small gun which mostly slows a single target, minor DoT damage.

Tier 6: SuperVillain! This is your first real super villain. The first is a Fire corruptor. Female, red and orange costume. Might have a minor buff (like thermal) for the fighters. Mostly this minion is about damage though, which should come just in time because your dirty fighters really aren't that great.

I'm really not sure how to do the powers here, but here's some thoughts:
    Base: Flares, Fire Sword.
1st upgrade: Fire Breath, Fire Ball, (maybe thermal shield)
2nd upgrade: Greater Fire Circle Sword, two more big fire powers..

Tier 7: Accelerate Metabolism. Or some similar team buff. Should do +Dam, +Spd, +Rec. Long timer too. PBAoE. "Pets only" is ok, but reduces some of the fun.

Also at level 18, you get your third "Dirty Fighter", who I'd like to see as a Dominator. Mind/Pain Dom or similar. Has some controls, a single target heal, etc. His look is a tall thin man in a top hat. Purple, funny glass. Think evil Willy Wonka.

At level 24 you'll get your second corruptor. I'd like to see a Dark/Dark corr. Again, should be mostly about damage. Maybe has one AoE heal like Twilight Grasp.

Tier 8 The Call. Your power has grown enough to allow you to summon a fallen Tanker from Paragon city. Yeah, a tanker Red side. A big Dark/Broadsword guy in spiky armor. His job is mostly running a big taunt aura and holding aggro off the Corruptors. Some damage would be nice too, but his primary job is being tough and keeping the enemy off the damage dealers.

Tier 9: Final Doom. Gives your minions their 2nd upgrade.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
We completely agree that it would be great to fix the issue with the Spirits. A number of people here are upset as well about the badge for their own characters (yes, we play too!). However, getting such a fix out there would impact the schedule for Issue 13.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Just thinking out-loud here:

Could the fixes be put in soon (post I13?) and then the event re-run? If you can get this out for Christmas, you could run the Halloween event just before the Christmas one.

Tie the two events together Nightmare Before Christmas style.

"Oh noes! The ebil zombies are trying to invade Christmas! Stop them so the Ski Chalet will open and everyone can get their presents! (Now with corrected spawn rates )"

Two weeks of Xmas invading zombies, then two weeks of Christmas. Could be fun....

In other news, how can I become the Good Humor Man?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hey, I like the idea of some fun badges. "Good Humor Man" sounds awesome. Let's see: log out next to cart vendors in Cap au Diable, or next to the Donut Shop in Faultline. That work for you?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
So did you all listen to the very end of the interview when Castle said Closed Beta starts tommorow?

    I'm kidding :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Don't DO that!
  17. In the context you quoted, I'm pretty sure it's Luck of the Gambler, which is an IO set or recipe with some desirable bonuses.

It might mean something else too, although I can't think what right now.

    Issue 13 Update

    [ QUOTE ]
Seems a bit odd that 3+ weeks after the announcement marketing can't come up with *anything* to show off about Issue 13. No screenshots, no details on any of the already-announced content, nothing at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My guess is it's engineering, not marketing. Don't forget they were going to look at bases too. My guess is some coder opened up the base building code, there was this high, piercing scream and they later found him huddled on the floor, repeating only the words "... the horror... the horror..."

Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed too but we've got some cyborgs to play with and stuff, that'll keep people entertained for a bit. I think they should "test" Zombie Apocalypse again on the test server, myself.

But over all yeah I hope this just means better things in the long run.
  19. /em robot works on Henchmen? Oh, my wallet is doomed...

    DOOOOOOMMMED!
  20. I'd actually like to see a set -- Super Villains -- which has different types of damage. Pretty reasonable, imo. Why just restrict yourself to only one type? A MM where each minion does their own type of damage would be interesting I think.
  21. 4th edition DnD? Aww .... dude, HERO System!

Ah you need to check my sig.

Um, and I have a cat, does that count?
  23. [ QUOTE ]
There are a lot of options and ideas out there I like, but I do want to throw something out there. How about some different options for the minions we have? I kind of like the robots and the powers, but I am stuck with the same looking bots. We have TONS of colors, styles, armor and size options for us, but I get the same minions no matter what.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I gotta agree 100% with this. I also think it would be easier for the devs to allow us to customize our sets than invent new ones, and I think it would pay off more with the playerbase more than just one new set too.

My own idea for set customization includes Mooks/Gangsters for Thugs, and some different styles of Mercenaries.

Thugs - Mooks, Morlocks (looks a bit like Lost), Professionals. The latter looks like "professional crooks" rather than gangers. Lots of black, a bit like Mission Impossible.

Mercenaries - I'd love to see a female set, maybe something that looks like Knives of Artemis. Put them in grey cammo so they look different from mobs. Ditto with a merc set that looks like Malta, again just with a different color to distinguish them from mobs. Maybe one set that looks like "Pineapple Dictator" jungle fighters.

Now after that my ideas start to get a little weaker...

Ninja - Robot Ninja (looks like the Robot player costume). Crey style corp suits. For the Oni it's a guy in a Crey Tank like suit that has fire gadgets.

Undead - really not sure at all here... pirates?

Robots - Maybe a set that looks more like players with the Metal skin, humanoid robots. There's Steampunk styles too that look like nemesis or clockworks too that could be good. Skyraider models look a bit boring to me.
