Quote:I run on a 3 or 4 year old laptop, on the 2nd lowest setting (Performance) and Praetoria was fine for me. It still looks nice and my frame rate is decent (20-25 fps). If you can run CoV acceptably now, you should be fine in Praetoria.I've got a 6-year-old PC that doesn't have a prayer of playing in Ultra Mode. Should I bother getting Going Rogue, or should I wait until I get a new PC?
Quote:Is there enough non-graphics-intensive stuff (like the new Powersets) available in GR to make it worth the expenditure?
Yes, the missions are much nicer than either CoH/V. More like the Tip missions we get in CoH/V. Plus Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning, and of course the new Incarnate slots and missions ... I'd say GR a must-get if you plan to renew your subscription. -
Quote:Well this, at least, is WAI. Pets are not supposed benefit from recharge (IIRC it was screwing up the AI for some pets).
Yes, I know. The rest of it though is fine. Alpha slots boost damage, or accuracy, or endurance reduction, or hold times, etc. of all you pets simultaneously just fine, plus all of your other powers too.
The only folks having problems are Khelds and Doms. Masterminds are good. -
Quote:The boost does not work with summoned powers, which includes lots of secondaries too, but that is NOT working as intended so it will work eventually.
99% sure this is incorrect. Pets of all types (mastermind and otherwise, including psudeo-pets like Rain of Fire) have been working just fine for a long time. Of course, MM pets still don't benefit from Recharge of any sort, but that's a different issue.
* * *
Most MMs I expect would do well with Musculature, but I've been thinking about taking the Accuracy one, because it'll boost my /Force Fields. Plus the Accuracy will effectively free one slot on each of my pets, which will be worth something at least. I could slot a proc in there, or add a different Aura, or just move a slot elsewhere.
Speaking of slotting, if you're having trouble figuring out what IO Sets to take, look at +Recovery. I don't take Stamina on my /FF, so when I moved her over to the Beta server at the start of open beta, I got Stamina immediately and I was in heaven. Let me tell you, Stamina plus a bucket-load of +Recovery from IO sets is possibly the most wonderful thing you will ever experience. Run every toggle you can think of, use your powers liberally, yet still have lots of Endurance. It was truly one of the most fun things I've ever done.
Also, the Incarnate boost apparently works down to level 45 right now, due to the way Exemplaring works. This is not exactly WAI, but might not be changed either. Stay tuned. -
Quote:No, Defensive/attack only occurs when you order your henchmen to attack a target. Henchmen in any defensive stance, automatically counterattack anything that attacks them or their owners.
Basically as long as your pets are in defensive stance, in range of Supremacy AND you don't order them to attack any targets directly, you are in bodyguard mode.
This, 100%.
The second paragraph needs emphasizing. It's Defensive, not Defensive Follow, that gives Bodyguard. You can use Defensive Stay or Defensive Goto also. Plus, you can put your pets on Aggressive, let them fight, then use "/petcomall Defensive" in the middle of the fight and get full bodyguard immediately.(*) Your pets won't pause in attacking, they'll keep fighting, but you'll get the benefits of Bodyguard right away.
It's Follow that causes your pets to stop what they are doing and run towards you, for about 5-10 seconds. This can be really useful when you want Bodyguard but don't want your pets to respond to mobs. Spam "Def Fol" everyone 5 seconds or so, and you'll get 4x the hit points and have complete control of your pets too. (Well, complete control means they'll follow you and not respond. This works for pulling.)
(*) Assuming they are not sill executing an "Attack" command, and if they're all in Supremacy range. Pets need to have Supremacy (about 80ft range, plus line-of-sight), for that pet to contribute to Bodyguard mode. -
Before the market merge, I was sure the price of Luck Charms would sky-rocket, so across about 4 servers with the tons of alts I've accumulated, I probably bought about 1,500 Luck Charms.
I still have most of the f!@#$%ing things. -
Quote:Thanks for the update. It's appreciated, although we pretty much already knew that I19 still needed to have a few sizable bugs squashed before it went live.
What I really want to thank you for is just communicating at all. I don't know if there was some sort of new guideline brought into effect severely limiting developer interaction on the forums, if things are just really that busy at PS right now, or if there's some other reason or combination of reasons, but developer communication has been noticeably lower lately. Even during this Issue's admittedly short closed beta, there wasn't a whole lot of interaction between developers and testers. I know that we're usually spoiled when it comes to developer interaction, but things have just been rather quiet as of late.
Yeah, Nth'd. A scosh more communication would be helpful in general, although I think at this point everyone saw the delay coming. Still good to know officially and in advance of, say, Friday afternoon. -

This is a thread for discussion the alpha slot for all types of Corruptors. I got no ideas because my brain is all sort of exploded right now with the possibilities. The Recharge (Spiritual) looked pretty good for my /Pain Dom. It has +Health as well which means it should stack with Pain Bringer.
Link here to the slots, if you haven't seen it. Don't forget to mouse hover over the boxes with the short text for the actual detailed description.

This is a thread for discussion the alpha slot for all types of VEATs. I got no ideas because my brain is all sort of exploded right now with the possibilities. The Recharge (Spiritual) looked pretty good for my Fortunata, though I don't see a use for the other abilities in that set. Maybe I'll go Cardiac and just slot LotG out the whazoo.

Quote:I just read in a stalker thread that blinding powder doesn't break stealth or cause aggro. Next time I feel like playing my nin/nin this will change things a lot (never took it).
Same with Widows and Mask Presence: Smoke Grenade does not break their "hide", you can spam it all day long at a spawn.
And Fortunata's Confuse too does not break Mask Presence, nor their Aura of Confusion either.
What I wish I'd known: Power Boost (Ghost Widow's PPP) does not enhance the +Regen in Pain Bringer (Corruptor's Pain Domination). Man was I disappointed when I found that out. -

Quote:An abbreviation might be a perfectly normal English construct, but MOB as an abbreviation is not normal English.
Well, it is. This being the internet, people don't often capitalize words or use punctuation, but the word mob is a perfect valid construct. People should be saying MOB or mob., but they just don't because folks shorten a lot of their typing on the internet.
Quote:So, deal with the fact it has meaning(s) other than those you care for which are still perfectly applicable in game.
Deal with the fact that not every facet of the language is found in a standard dictionary. Read some of the replies above; you can see the term mob is used by a lot of folks to refer to a single creature. It does come from MUDs, and was used a lot by the EQ developers (arguably the first successful 3D MUD).
I also come from a technical background, and I'm used to invented or re-used terms to describe things that have no real name in the vernacular. (Input and output as verbs are the classic example.) Really, it just makes folks using the term look kinda silly. It's for your benefit, not mine, that I point out correct usage. Otherwise you look kinda rube-ish. -
Quote:Aside to your aside: I prefer English to gamespeak, and "mob" as a singular enemy grates my nerves a bit.
It's still incorrect to refer to a group of enemies as a mob. Call them spawns or groups please. And mob is an abbreviation, a perfectly normal English construct. -
Quote:Try sending a tell, they could have just been concentrated on something else on the screen
This. It does help. Sometimes MMs look like they are just sitting there but we're usually frantically buffing, healing, debuffing, commanding and generally trying to manage two teams (players + minions) at the same time. -
As I play a tank sometimes, it's easy to get nervous about your team and want to be as careful as possible. A lot of deaths (team or personal) in the pre-20 levels can make folks overly cautious.
Hearding like that, what I call corner pulling (as opposed to fighting the mobs in place or pulling them forward), works when you need to be very careful. If you have a pug and you want to see how they perform, when you've got some folks with lag, when you don't have as much control as you'd like, if spawns are close together and might aggro easily, those are times when it's reasonable to corner pull stuff away from its spawn point.
Aside:
MOB = mobile. That's one dude.
Spawn or group = lots of mobs all together. Some folks are calling a spawn a "mob" like it means a mob of people. Just kinda grates my mental nerves a bit. -
Quote:George: "Oh my god, you killed Fritz! You dirty *******!" *blam blam blam blam blam*
Those lousy stinking yellow fairies! Those horrible atrocity-filled vermin! Those despicable animal warmongers! They've killed Fritz! Take that! Take this! Take that, you green slime! You black hearted, short, bow-legged... -
Looks good overall, couple of observations:
Minor complaint: All of the names of the Incarnate powers are somewhat organic. I'd like some Mechanical, Hydraulic, High Explosive, Computational, etc. type named stuff.
Slightly less minor: I've got a character that I like a lot that does a lot of -Recharge as a secondary effect, and I don't see a way to boost that. Perhaps this could be made more flexible in the future? (I'm sure things a fixed in stone for I19 and I20.) Like if I give up Healing or Immobilize in one of those powers, can a get a different secondary boost, like -Recharge?
Just thinking out loud.... -
Quote:a friend a mind made a good point. people will still end up slotting stamina so in the end what really changes outside of the 3 powers you can choose now but not have enough slots to go around for them.
No your friend did not make a good point. Of course everyone will three slot Stamina (and probably at least two slots in Health). Considering IO Sets and Uniques, four slotting each would not be considered excessive.
Then you just choose three powers THAT DON'T NEED TO BE SLOTTED. Recall Friend. Assault, Maneuvers, Tactics, Vengeance. Hover. Hasten. Stealth. Provoke. Boxing & Tough. Combat Jumping.
Come on, this is not hard. -
Quote:Greetings,
Given the magnitude of changes in Issue 19 with the fitness pool becoming inherent at level 2, well be issuing one respec with the launch of issue 19 and a second respec exactly one week after launch. This means if you have dual builds you can respec both builds if you like, and if not you can use the first respec (if you like) to take advantage of the changes with I19 and bank the second respec for a later time.
Enjoy!
I actually agree with comments saying it'll be difficult to use both freespecs in a timely manner for some players.
Suggestion: Issue one freespec and one regular respec. Those do stack, and folks who aren't currently subscribed will also be able to respec both of their builds. -
Quote:If you check the dev digest, Castle posts in a thread that later confirms 11/16 for i19
1. Castle didn't post that. It was said at the Meet-and-Greet thing on the 6th. Technically, you said that but it was really unclear the way you wrote it.
2. The 16th is the EARLIEST we could see I19. If there's any hitches, it won't happen until after Thanksgiving. -
-
As reported on the Meet-and-greet thread, I19 could be out as early as Nov 16, which is just over a week away. This makes sense to me. Why release a download so early if it's not planned soon-ish?
The same meet-and-greet also said that I19 could be out after Thanksgiving, depending on how things shape up, so don't get your hopes up too far.... -
Quote:I'd love to see Power Pool Customisation and Ancilliary Pool Customisation aswell. But to be honest I'd rather they finished all 10 levels of the incarnate stuff first.
I personally must agree with this. This game needs new content bad. And not more whack-a-mole design like the original Positron TF. It needs more interesting, varied and thoughtful content.
I'll take power pool customization if it's offered but I'm not here on the forums clamoring for it. And I don't think there are "a lot" of folks asking for it either. Just some very vocal ones. The devs are right on track, imo. Big end game content is exactly what's needed right now. -
How long after they start predownload before they typically release?
