Quote:I'll double check, but usually if that's the case it was optimization improvements (which I can confirm was part of today's build...ITF and BAF should be *much* improved at this point), back-end changes that don't have an immediate player facing impact and updating the WST.
"BAF and ITF performance should be much improved" is a customer facing facing impact, imo. -
Besides the CoP I'd like to see each TF and SF get it's own LFG entry-- this might help some folks who don't use the global channels get on those TFs. This might especially mean Free players.
Heck I'd like to see even regular PUG teams able to add themselves to folks in the LFG queue, as an optional team setting. That would be sweet. -
The guides are mostly still good. Stay away from anything marked "Issue 2," but anything after Issue 6 (Enhancement Diversification) should be fine.
The only thing you're missing is use of IO set bonuses, which are so complicated you should post specific questions anyway. A general guide couldn't cover all the possibilities or trade-offs. -
Quote:Does this mean they finally fixed that bug where other team members don't show up in the same map with you?
I don't think so. I think map/powers optimizations mean graphic lag, not UI display issues. I do hope they fix the team display bug soon, it's really annoying. It should be a priority, imo.
Any chance the players could get an update what the status of the team display issue is? Still chasing it down? Fix on the way? No clue?
Edit:
This should be a high priority as well, forgot about this one. Same request for status here also. -

I often see folks as for help on the global server channels, or the Help channel. Usually someone does help out, and I'll do it if I'm not busy. Always fun if it's blue-side to ask what they need, then bring the Fortunata regardless.

Basically you want to head to Ouroboros, talk to Mender Ramiel. Do his arc, that'll get you started.
Then do trials, ITFs and such until you have the components and iXP for the incarnate slots and enhancements. -
Define "kill." What frames per second do you find unacceptable?
I can run around the new Atlas Park on the beta server and get 30-40 FPS on Quality settings, one step below Ultra. Except for around Miss Liberty, where all the players running every known particle effect drop me to 10-20 FPS. -
I have a Fujitsu Lifebook AH 530 with a dedicated graphics card. This thing seems to handle the game fine. It won't play smothly on the very highest settings, but it runs great on the middle setting and handles raids and trials just fine.
http://hothardware.com/News/Fujitsus...-External-GPU/
The dedicated graphics is important, I don't think the cheapo on board graphics will normally handle it. Overall I'd rate my system as not up to top-of-the-line desktop but very satisfying for something that's less than an Alienware system, and less than $1000 out the door.

The gaming graphics score is based on the primary graphics adapter. If this system has linked or multiple graphics adapters, some software applications may see additional performance benefits.
Caution: Based on the results of the WinSAT Disk assessment, your system drive may have slower response times under some workloads. Performance results will depend on the specific applications used and the amount of memory available. If your experience is satisfactory, no action is needed.

You do have to click the powers "on" that you want included in its calculations. I remember having to do this to get the right recharge number to show up. I forget what tab, I think it's Numbers or Calculations or something like that, not the normal default tab when you're placing IOs.
Also I noticed that the recharge from Hasten doesn't print out, just the global bonus, so you can't seem to get it to appear on the report. Just use 110% as a target for that report, instead of 180%. Note also that I think I have 168% on one toon an Hasten is effectively perma, just about 2 seconds of downtime. -
Quote:I came back expecting a lot of new things (I'd been reading about CoH Freedom, a recent batch of Power Set Proliferation, and a new starting experience, but it would appear that none of that is releasing until Issue 21, and I may have jumped the gun in rejoining), but so far nothing is drastically different.
Not so fast. We just started subscriber beta this week for all subcribers. Get the beta server download (not test server/training room) and hop on the beta server and check out all the changes.
Quote:So, under the non-Incarnate parameters, what should I be experiencing that has been added in the past 300 days? Barring that, what has been added in the past 300 days for a very mildly-interested Incarnate user (I think my main got like one Incarnate enhancement or whatever before I quit; I can't really remember).
Mostly this involves hanging out it RWZ broadcasting "lf Trial!" then running around in a panic because you have no idea what the mission involves, but it's all good. (Just let folks know you've been gone so they give you some hints.) -
In addition, esp. for your melee characters, hitting any attack with no target selected will select the closest target on screen. This means that just after a target dies you'll have no target and be able to use this immediately. I think there's a key bind for closest target (control-tab) but since I can get a two for one with the attack I just do that.
A common tactic is to hit your attack, then hit it again to queue it up, then press F to Follow the target you selected. That'll point a melee toon in the right direction and starting them running there. Hit spacebar to jump over any obstacles without cancelling Follow mode.
You do have to be careful not to run across the map at the wrong target while leaving your friends behind. Just try to glance at the target selected to make sure it's a good one, and if you start running at the wrong one, be prepared to hit S quickly to cancel Follow.
Ranged toons should probably be using Tab, or targeting through the melee. I find clicking easier on ranged toons also.
Good luck. -
Quote:If you go to the Team window, there's a Search button on the bottom that lets you look for other players. You can look for folks who are in your level range, or in your zone, or any combination. You can send them tells directly, and you can see their "team status." The unfortunate thing is that their status is color coded and there's no logend. Go here:I will have access to tells, but it would pain me to become one of those people who send random tells to players minding their own bussiness. And don't get me started on random group invites.
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Search_Window
Remember that when Freedom hits, you'll get rewards much faster -- one token per month. I'd suggest you remain subscribed for a short time until you get chat access, then go Premium if you desire. From another thread the rewards are:
At Tier 2: Access to Huge characters, supergroups, trading, gmail, AE play
At Tier 3: Access to chat channels
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=268436
So you only need to subscribe for about 2-4 months before you have access to all the channels. I'm not sure if you can buy channel access directly.
Quote:A level 10 corrupter slugging through storyline in Nova gets a group request tell from a level 18 and I have to stop and take the time to explain to him that I won't help him because by association to his level he must be in Neutropolis and I'm just not ready to set foot over there.
Remember Going Rogue has been out for a year. By now most folks have done all the content, and are just leveling for XP. If you want to run missions solo the first time through, by all means do. I did that myself too. One thing you might want to do is get an alternate character who doesn't need to experience the missions and just log them in when you get a team request (assuming you want to team).
Quote:Are forming groups all about the exp in this game? -
Basic math from 6th grade: 1.66 = 166%.
You need 166% total recharge in Mind Link for it to be perma. Since you already have about 53% globally, you only need a bit more. Since you already have 93% (is this before or after ED? I'll assume after), you need about:
So 166% - 53% - 93% = 20% more needed. That's Mental Training if you didn't count it in the global recharge of 53%.
Note you need about 175% global recharge to perma Hasten, so just going for perma Mind Link is a lot easier. -
Quote:And you can buy others in recipe form off of Wentworths (or get them as random drops) and craft your own.
Just to be clear, this is "buy" with in game money, or Inf. Not a real money transaction. About half of the wings in game are available for free, just trade your shinies to another player for them. -
Quote:I don't really want a Free player to be able to send me tells or invite me to teams (without my explicit consent), but I would kind of like to allow said player to sent tells and team invites to other Free players.Quote:Since the logic behind barring free players from generating unsolicited tells is that they can indulge in bannable conduct without any penalty (losing a free account is theoretically no loss at all: you can just make them specifically for the purpose of performing bannable conduct) allowing free players to send tells to each other will mean someone could perform that kind of conduct, but it would be limited to just the free players. Is that wise?
I tend to agree with Arcanaville on her last point. One idea I've been messing with in my head is to allow Free players to reply to a tell, say, within 5 minutes of the last tell from a given person. Extra work and coding but would make the free guys a little less isolated.
Other ideas: allow /friends and /supergroup. That'll help with new folks who get invited to try the game out by someone already in. With out at least that then there's going to be difficulties getting some new folks in. -

Seriously, you're here at a good time. Both Atlas Park (heroes) and Mercy (villains) just a huge overhaul to the starting zones, which is currently on the Beta server for testing. Check it out if you can. Or wait for the final version live. City of Heroes is going Free to Play soon so with your first month you'll be premium subscriber forever now and be able to play anytime you want, even if your subscription lapses. -
It was pointed out on another thread that Ouroboros provides the means to do your missions on hard mode and get badges for it. However that doesn't happen until level 25.
There's also Master-Of badges for all task forces. I don't know how that compares to other games, but it's a bit harder than normal. -
Quote:/signedI've been logged out of the forums about 5 times now today, twice while in the process of making a post. This seriously has to be looked at and corrected.
Not much else to say. I get logged out of the forums at least once per day. And I lose my "last read" history every time it happens. Very annoying. This is the only forum I've been on that has this problem.
Please fix it! -
I lot of the game stays pretty easy. You are a superhero after all.
Some of it though can get challenging quickly. Circle of Thorns are famous for TPK once you get past the very basic adversaries. Watch out for Ruin Mages. -
Quote:You'll want both eventually but probably right now you want Beta, not Test/Training Room. Freedom is being beta tested on Beta right now. They are? When I was last playing, the Training Room *was* the beta server.
They basically have two test servers right now. One for long term projects (Freedom) and the Training Room for short term projects like testing a patch before it's pushed out to Live. Follow the instructions for copying files, only the directory names are different (iirc). -
It's the first day of open beta for the new Issue 21 & Freedom, so absolutely everybody is on the beta server enjoying the new stuff (and bumping into the occasional bug).
So I think stuff is going to be pretty dead on live for about a week or so. Hop on the beta server and join us if you would like. -
Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddd.....
It's officially beta. -
3:47 PM and no beta yet.
Just thought you'd all want to know....
