Quote:I'd bet that the in game GMs are like the last people to know about this stuff. I'd PM Zwill. He'll have to confer with Ghost Falcon and Television (or some other programmer) how this stuff got implemented.Unless someone enlightens me, I may just send a /petition to figure it out.
Possible too that it's "things are a bit delayed with the database crunching on converting old accounts to premium." Personally I think its a wonder anything is working at all, this was a huge rollout in terms of new technology.
I think the most likely answer though is "all vips got 400 extra points to cover their next billing already" which would explain the extra 400 points we all saw. -
Which was the point. CoD, the OLD data, matches what's in game now. Hence, no nerf.
*puts on Al foil hat, with grounding strap*
Brute damage was nerfed. -
Which isn't hard. Took me less than 60 seconds.
And I was wrong about the cost. MMs and Controllers are 1200 points to unlock, not 1000 like the other four. $15 even.
-
Quote:How does someone "unlock them for less than a month of subscription"? I don't see that on the unlocks section of the market.
Srsly? At least, it's been all over their press releases, MMs and Controllers will be pay-for content for Premium. How did you not know it was available?
Anyway, it's Content -> Archetypes. And I didn't know either until I clicked on a few things in the store just now. This stuff isn't hard. -
Yes, while I can see the annoyance, paying a one time fee to unlock something you can play ever after for free seems too good of a deal to me. I would have made it a monthly fee, like the $2 per month for the auction house.
$12.50 for a permanent unlock. That doesn't seem like a lot to play your favorite archetype for free. -
I think I need all of these on my mastermind so I'll try to be there.

Yeah noticed that. How does Steam feel about Free-to-play? Do you think CoH is going to stay on Steam or do you think it will be removed?

Welcome back!
Quote:Well after some tweaking our team has settled into da/fire tank (me), ninja/therm MM (bro-in-law) and kinetic/ice controller (hubby). We're now all 35 and thanks to freedom, can get our epics!
Quote:The boys have pretty much decided but I'm a bit stuck. Would energy or pyre be best for 3 teaming and the occasional TF? (or something else)? There are our first characters so we're pretty broke, I just don't want to bring disgrace on the tanker cred!
Or by "pretty broke" did you mean "can't purple-out our toons yet?" -
Quote:EDIT: Just wanted to finish that off a bit better and a bit friendlier...
It's all good, as far as I am concerned and I certainly don't want to have any argument about it in this thread (I see now that it is a highly contested debate elsewhere, hehe).
I just wanted to add that I also was confused by this when it was first announced. Incarnates were announced with Going Rogue and there was supposed to be a preview included in GR (which was later nixed). After a bit more explanation by Paragon Studios and folks here, I totally agree that Incarnates was not a part of GR.
Still I see how someone could have that impression (because I had that impression myself) and I think the devs could have done a bit better job communicating it to the players.
So, no worries, but yeah I think we've pretty much decided that the devs didn't communicate well but also that they were right, Incarnates and GR were always two different things. -
I'd recommend "Merriam-Webster." -
Added to knowledge base: it may take 24 hours or so for your rewards to show up.

Quote:However, what really stands out about FF is that most of its powers are not buffs. They are attacks and control powers. They are just so awful that the set has become known for its buffs only. Force Field actually has exactly as many offensive powers as Cold Domination and Time Manipulation. By its rights Force Field should be a clicky set. It just isn't because the game has never gotten serious about making knockback, intangible, or repel legitimately desirable in mass quantities versus what you could get by just using a Nemesis Staff temp power.
I posted this over on the other thread first, and then came back here and read your post. I couldn't agree more, obviously.
Quote:Deflection shield: +16.66% resistance to -defense debuffs
[etc....]
These are good ideas, esp. the Def Resistance. I personally would like to see powers in FF that no one takes addressed also. In particular, Detention Field and Repulsion Field.
Detention Field: While being "out of phase" is a cool concept, in practice players (esp. teammates) seem to hate it. Change this to a 4.7 Mag Hold, straight up. No other changes needed.
Repulsion Field: This one is harder, because I don't just want to make it like every other power out there, but I think a slow movement, slow recharge, and a small -def debuff PBAoE Toggle would be a thematic changes. Instead of being thrown about, targets are hindered by the lines of force you produce! The -End per enemy hit will have to go away, but the base endurance cost could be increased.
I'd also like to see FF get "the stalker treatment." Add a small, unmodifiable, and unresistible debuff to some of the powers. This is a different idea than the debuffs you mention, so I think it would have to be one or the other.
Detention Field: -5% Recharge, unresistible (and doesn't depend on the Mag hitting).
Repulsion Field: -5% Defense, unresistable
Repulsion Bomb: -10% Resistance, unresistable
Force Bubble: -5% Damage, unresistable
Or there abouts, not sure if the numbers make sense. -

Quote:But he feels that CoX lacks this end-game committment from NCSoft. Is he right?
Who cares? I have way more toons in the the level 1-45 range than I do at 50. I'm happily playing the new First Ward arcs and the new Signature Stories, which are (gasp!) level 20-30 content! Oh noes!
And I'm having fun.
So I don't play WoW, and I can't say whether their design is "better" or not. I'll just say that I'm satisfied with the content that is being presented for me. If you friend doesn't like it... *shrug*, I don't think all games must appeal to all people. That's just the way it goes. Some like chess, some like checkers. -
The "throttle time" on MARTy is something like 10 minutes maximum, and at lot less for most cases. So if you just horse around, use auction house, etc. for 10 minutes you should be good, no matter what message you got on logging in.
-
Quote:I'm guessing that 20-30 is a sweet spot for pay for content. That is, not everyone has a level 50, but most everyone, and probably most new players, are going to be able to level a toon to 20 and will be looking for more content.I also can't understand why they released more content for the 20-30 range which is already saturated, when the 30-40 range is still suffering from a lack of 'proper' content.
High quality content for new comers, new stuff for old timers who have done it all already. That's what I'm thinking. -
Ask in the PVP forums about that (I don't know). PVP took a big hit around issue 13 but I understand PVP on Freedom is still going.
Quote:joined a group and well lets just say it was a lot bigger group than i remembered...
Just to be pendantic, we team, we don't form groups, unless you're larping with the Luddites in Cap.
Quote:and then so many crazy powers.... what happened to having to use power slots to get like speed, jumping, stamina, and health boosts power slots? -
Quote:I would recommend you make a brand new character for now to get reacquainted with the game
changes to the game at ParagonWiki.
These. Start a new toon, the new stuff is too darn fun.
That'll let you learn what is going on now. For a rundown of changes, see the wiki link. -
Ninja/Trick Arrow mastermind. Just. Can't. Do. It.
I'm close to giving up on my Dark Blast/Pain Dom corruptor. It's a combination of "pure support" and the fact that Pain Dom doesn't really have the buffs that Empathy has. -
Quote:We are all different. If seebs feels that autism interferes with the ability to enjoy a team environment, then in this case, it does.
But why should that affect anyone else?
Why should the difficulty of the game be reduced just to accommodate people with disabilities? Why should everyone else have to play at some reduced level? That's point of having a disability, you can't do something most other people can.
Quote:Well, yes, that would be the point; any AT and primary/secondary ought to be able to clear missions that aren't TFs. Missions which can't be soloed are buggy.
So...
Yes, a mission that is not a TF, which can't be soloed by any AT and primary/secondary at +0/x1, is buggy.
This is not true. A mission that can't be soled, easily, is a mission that can't be easily soloed. It's designed that way. -
Quote:Ran it as a Villain and then as a Vigilante. While the maps are incredible, the story felt weak. I realize it's only part 1 of 7 but it's also $5 (for Premiums). It's not worth $5. $2, maybe.
Perhaps when all the arcs will be available... I agree it's not worth $5 on its own. However, when later arcs come out, will the first ones still be available to premiums? Like, if a Premium players waits until 1.7, can he or she then run all arcs 1.1 through 1.7 in one month on one $5? The difference being of course that VIPs get to run them as soon as they come out.
Just thinking out loud here, not sure how the pay per arc will work.
