So I remembered that one of the origin titles for Magic was "Last," which is perfect for my scrapper, but then remembered that only villains can pick it. This makes no sense, and there are other titles that make equally little or even less sense:
Heroes, but not villains, can be Startling, Ultimate, Gargantuan, Overcharged, Wanton, Arcane, Baffling, Dread, Frightening, Ghostly, Haunted, Occult, Petrifying, Supernatural, Terrifying, Unknowable, Audacious, Bizarre, Colossal, Eerie, Freaky, Humongous, Incomprehensible, Ominous, Strange, Tremendous, Unnatural, Horrifying, Lone, Mysterious, Unfathomable, Indescribable, Otherworldly, Unearthly, Crafty, Indestructible, Mechanical, Outlandish, or Titanic.
Villains, but not heroes, can be Potent, Exiled, Innocent (seriously, wtf?), Ancient, Enigmatic, Last, Preternatural, Quintessential, Undying, Extreme, Jurassic, Untamed, Wild, Zoomorphic, Elusive, Unseen, Irradiated, Omnipotent, Revolutionary, Synthetic, Automated, Electrifying, Formidable, Grave, High-tech, Ingenious, Mechanized, Quantum, Robotic, or Voltaic.
On top of all that, even some of the titles that are available to both alignments are out of sync: Any hero can be Powerful, but only a Tech villain can; Mutant heroes and Science villains can be Weird, but not vice-versa.
And on top of THAT, plenty of titles like Synthetic, Honorable, Brilliant, and Grim are unavailable to origins for which they would be at least as fitting (no Synthetic tech characters, no Grim magic characters, no Brilliant science characters, no Honorable natural characters, etc).
I can't be the only one who thinks this is completely out of whack. Am I the only one? Please say I'm not the only one. All titles available to all characters (excluding veteran titles, which would still need to be earned, of course), yes/no? -
Inherent fitness is pretty nice, but what I'm really looking forward to is getting the Escapee badge title on my Widow

So yeah, I already know why we can't have long robes, but on the subject of the Circle of Thorns...
Shoulders and belt please? Also this forehead tattoo as a face color overlay:
My CoT demon MM would be grateful.
EDIT: Could that mask/shoulders combo thing the Lieutenant mages wear also possibly be a face 2 detail? It could work like the Reaper face 2 detail, right? And I can see the giant silly mage hat from the first picture being a Hood option. -
I like this idea, if only because it would make a broadsword port for Brutes more sensical. And when Brutes get swords, this happens. Skip to about 3:30, until then he's only building up his fury bar and it's kinda boring.
Do want. -
Perhaps the devs could rewrite Fly to work like a cross between Swap Ammo and the prestige sprints - taking Fly grants you a separate fly power for each fly pose, and if the player wants to enhance their Fly power they can just pick whichever pose they'll actually be using and enhance that one?
Actually that probably wouldn't work. It'd just get abused by people using the extra powers to slot additional IO sets. Idunno, maybe it wouldn't be that imbalancing; travel sets are pretty low-power, and the previous example of prestige sprints is kind of a precedent since they're all slottable.
EDIT: Forget I said any of that. When pool power customization finally comes, other flyposes could just be added to the Fly power as alternate animations. Since Fly doesn't have a weapon or shield involved, adding custom animations to it should be a piece of cake.
FURTHER EDIT: Changing flyposes to custom animations should allow them to be even more awesome via matching turn animations. Banking turns with Flypose3 anyone? -
Quote:This.I hate that compromise. Make the unlocks account-wide and you might have a deal.
I have a Carnie brute; I haven't been playing her because I'm sick of using the wrong hammer. Since she's level 20ish, she can't farm the Illusionists herself... and man, with all the hatred for fighting Carnies, NOBODY is going to help me with that one. -
Quote:It would also probably help to use the alternate animations. If you want a "realistic" Natural Tanker, give him / her Fighting, Health, and Willpower, Speed for Flurry, Jumping for Jump-Kick, but NOT any Hulk-like palm-clapping or giant cement-chunk throwing.

Well, I've FINALLY gotten my hands on a pumpkin - a twelve-inch Funkin from JoAnn's - so expect something soon! All I need now is a fake tealight and an X-Acto knife and I'm in business.

The whole super-soldier-serum thing inclines me to call Cap a science-origin...

My Widow is fully blue. As she's naturally equipped with sharp chitinous claws and venom glands courtesy of the Arachnos scientists that grew her, it's difficult for her not to kill an opponent in hand-to-hand combat, and physically restraining anything organic is impossible for her because she instinctively panics when touched by other sentient beings (it's a psychic interference thing). So, when playing in-character, I switch her to Fortunata mode when teaming for missions that aren't chock-full of demons, robots, Devouring Earth, or undead, so she can use her mental powers instead. Her RP history includes that her sense of morality is still developing (she's only about six months old) and before she joined the supergroup she's in, she would leave a much wider trail of bodies that were either dead or brain-dead.
My blue MM's robots have their blasters set on Stun, like her pulse rifle.
My temporally-themed Grav/Kin troller COULD age you to death with his powers... but he won't, unless you force him. He's a tiny bit sinister, but still properly heroic, as befits a Midnighter, which he is.
My Kin/Shield scrapper is a magical construct built to take out threats to the land of Oranbega (before all the evil stuff went down). She does not have true free will, and therefore cannot make moral decisions, but her process is generally Warn -> Subdue -> Kill, with subsequent steps coming into play when previous steps fail. I play her kinetics melee as "undifferentiated magical force," which is a nebulous enough way of calling it that no suspension of disbelief is needed for subdual vs. killing. -
Okay, really starting to seem like Rad/Sonic is the way to go here. Thanks
-
Cool. Now that my internet is working properly again, I could even experiment with power colors. So far Rad/Sonic is sounding pretty good, even has a guide for it, so maybe I'll give it a shot.
-
All right, so I rolled up a new toon the other night:
She is a Sonic/Sonic Defender. The concept behind her ought to be fairly apparent.
Anyway, just a few minutes ago I had a thought: Should I pun it up by rerolling her with Rad as one of her powersets, or leave her as she is? I don't have any experience with any of those power sets (well, except Radiation Emission, but that was on a troller which is a little different), so I figured I might be able to come here for some insight. Balladeer is also my first Sonic anything, so really I'm a clean slate when it comes to this.
Further information:
Targeted ally shields don't really bother me; I've played a FF/ defender and a /Fire MM before and didn't feel too much like a buffbot.
On the Rad front, my Grav/Rad troller is one my favorite characters, but I have no idea how relevant that may or may not be.
I would like her to be somewhat soloable (read: soloing doesn't take OMGFOREVERRRRR) but it's not what I primarily intend to do, or I wouldn't be a Defender.
She is of Natural origin; if I reroll her the powers would be explained as "Yep, she's just that rad."
I am also not averse to the idea of rolling her as a Corruptor and starting in Praetoria, so that may or may not be relevant.
Thoughts? -
Two words: Alignment merits.
Since most of my characters are concept-driven, I don't really have much desire to switch sides. I have so many alts that I don't feel as if I'm missing out on any content anyway - sure, my heroes can't do rogue tips, but that's what villains are for. I do wish rogues and vigilantes could gain alignment merits, though; I do find myself feeling like I have to choose between concept and POWERRRRR on the toons that really ought to be purple, based on their personalities/methods. My Dark/Dark Corruptor is VERY purple, probably vigilante purple, and the Fear Incarnate power would be amazingly thematic for him... but no merits! However, it's less an incentive to make him fully red or blue and more a disincentive to play him at all, with the way my mind works. -
Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young, by Fire Inc. yielded this, and the perfect name just happened to be free on Virtue... so here she is, resplendent in neon colors, leg warmers, and acid-wash denim:
I've never been a Sonic defender before, either. Should be interesting! -
Well, my only 50 hero is a Scrapper, so I'm gunna go with Shield Charge... however, my 50 grav dom has even more fun using Lift in Mercy.
-
8 or 9. I HATE having mismatched powers.
-
Okay. I already tried Target with no luck last night, but I'll see if I can get to Michael's or JoAnn's sometime soon, because those do exist here. Ugh, I HATE not having a car... it'd be like 15 minutes if I drove, but taking the bus is three times slower.

Erf, I can't find these pumpkins! What stores carry them?
