But saying you meant well would be lying, wouldn't it?

In the context of the game, hypothetically, what if there were a villain who set himself up as a hero, and organized a bunch of Freedom Force types to go to the Rogue Isles and defeat Lord Recluse once and for all - but he had the intention of leading them into a trap? Then, consider if he had underestimated said heroes' abilities, or was viewed as a traitor due to some oversight by a superior, and was forced to fight alongside them and they won because of it? In such a case, that villain would have done good with evil intent... but I sure wouldn't call him a good guy.
  2. Or at least, a Trina that isn't quite so hideous as the Trina we have now. I contribute this:

Covering up that hideous gap between the Angelic and Excess top and bottom, adding a mini-vest for greater interest up top, changing her boots for a pair that doesn't look so tacked-on, and adding some very slight tone variance.

Now I wanna see what the rest of you costume junkies would do.

The way I justify it is by imagining she's just my hookup for all those costume resources... I can picture my characters being like "Let's get this straight - I know what I'm after from you, and if you make any 'suggestions' for how to improve my ideas I'm going to just ignore them, capisce? You just do what I tell you and you get paid.'
  4. It can go either way.

As an example of intent, one of my Star Wars fan-creations is kinda like that: his backstory is that he's a fallen Jedi who enrolled at a Sith academy (this is KotOR-era, so well before the Rule of Two), but due to losing out in the backstab-war he had with another apprentice he left in disgrace. He wants her dead, and all the rest of the Sith with her, so he started traveling with a Jedi and a few other good guys who were also after her, since it was a favorable deal for him to do so - so like Team Dark, he's helping the heroes. However, I have no delusions that the goals he shares with the company he keeps make him a "good guy" or even gray: Maraz Vax is an evil, evil man, driven by out-of-proportion hatred, who isn't so much interested in ridding the galaxy of a threat as making that particular threat suffer just for the sake of it, and that kind of malice is evil any way you slice it.

As an example of action, still on the topic of Star Wars, look no further than Darth Vader. He was really trying to be good, but he was so misguided as a young man that it bit him in the ***. I doubt I need to say more and I don't feel like it anyway.

I rp him as working with the warshades, but that they are rather frightened of him as he's a full human without any of the loyalties or memories of the Kheldian race.
Which reminds me... with Going Rogue coming along, I wonder how many people will make Warshades only to jump ship ASAP and establish their characters as Council?

I asked for this in Jay's costume thread ages ago. My Stalker would be ecstatic, given that she's a Tsoo madam and all.

A female version of the Yakuza tattoos would be awesome as well, while we're on that topic - just add some cloth wrapped around the chest and we're golden.
  7. I agree with this wholeheartedly. When I went to put an aura on my capeless troller and was forced to get a costume part I would never use before I could get the one I actually wanted, I thought it was totally lame.
  8. I JUST found out today that you can continue to combine MORE enhancements in the "combine enhancements" window after the first. Until now I thought you had to exit it each time...

Kinda sucks to fight against 'em, though.
  10. That's pretty awesome. I've never even heard of someone doing that.

  11. Pictured: A display that I see every time I walk into an ICON store.

So why can't I actually USE the muscular chest on a female character? I mean, come on... the Cabal uses it, and I'd be perfectly fine with it remaining an NPC-only costume part, except... ICON is displaying it as if it's for sale. What gives?

    City of Holidays

Memorial Day, Independence Day, Bastille Day, Christmas, etc: Now taking bets on how quickly everyone will get sick of the Menders saying "I was THERE."
  13. Largely because I have one.

So what I'm getting at is how many people build EAT characters who conceptually aren't EATs, and the EAT power sets just happen to do the best job of representing the character's abilities? I've seen a couple, but they don't seem to be common - someone in the SFC forum posted their Spider, who instead of being Arachnos personnel, is a sort of an evil drum major, using the Arachnos mace as his baton. My Crab Spider is a Freakshow Meat Doctor with stolen Arachnos tech, and I've got an idea for a Widow who is a ninja from another planet.

    How many people do this?

I thought they probably were, but since I'm not 100% certain on how non-tintable areas on tintable costume parts work, I listed them separately.

Wow, that's a completely awesome idea I might have to steal it.
  16. Actually, based on observations of character faces, this might be possible. As you are all aware, most faces contain non-color-tintable parts - the eyes, for instance. What's interesting about this is that the faces themselves can have color-tintable patterns added to them, and when these patterns overlap the eyes or other non-tintable parts, those parts remain unchanged (example: Streak. There are no eye holes in this pattern, as shown when it's used on a face without untintable parts, like the Supernatural face with the "glowing" eyes, yet on most faces it does not change the eyes). What I'm thinking is having each badge unlock a new cape style that would be identical to the existing standard capes, only with a large untintable badge symbol in the middle, with some exceptions - it wouldn't work on the Scarf cape, for instance.

A simpler way to do it would be to just have each badge unlock a new pattern for the standard capes - it'd be shaped as the usual rectangle, with a two-color pattern version of the badge. While the first way of doing it is only something I suspect is possible, this version is one I know is possible.
  17. Wings are different from capes. The reason multiple capes are blocked is that they use a physics system to animate, which is easy on the developers but hard on the user's computer. Wings do not use physics - they use bones like the rest of the character's limbs, which is much less resource-intensive to render. Like, a LOT.
  18. Oh yeah! Animated tails, how did I forget that... can't wait to put belts on my tailed cahracters!
  19. Rerolling my AR/fire blaster as a heroic bots/thermal MM. And taking my evil scrapper to the Isles.
  20. While fiddling around on the test server, I discovered that my AR/fire blaster, created that way for no other reason than "I want fire and guns," is MUCH better off and more fun to play as a bots/thermal MM (I've fallen in love with the Retro Rifle and also, wahey, flaming robots!). However, I don't want her to be a villain - at worst she should be a vigilante. Needless to say, she'll be rerolled come July. Hopefully, MMs will get a fire APP too, so I can blast right along with my bots.
  21. My favorite so far - from a police scanner mission:

"I'm gonna buy a sportscar, and then weld it to me. Like some kind of sportscar centaur.
The first Freakshow Sportaur! Or maybe Centcar? Ah, I'll work out the details later, but it's gonna be AWESOME!"

Now THAT I never thought of! I must remember this.

This. We are superheroes. Therefore, by definition we are special and unique characters. Two different characters with the same name would ruin that.
