I 2 slotted swift and took about every run speed IO out there. lol. My Granite runs at aprox 25mph in Granite. With the Alpha slot going to recharge, theres really no need for teleport. The only thing lacking is damage. But, my Stone is SS so perma rage gives 55% damage boost instead of 85%. So, all in all, i can play in Granite every minute and not feel any set backs.

Quote:Pretty much anything with the best bonuses have gone up greatly. Purples, procs, quads (like oblits), and most sets that give good SnL %s and rech %s.I'm not seeing what's dropped in cost, but I'm comparing prices now to what I remember from two years ago when I was playing the market to kit out my BS/SD scrapper, and I'll admit that requires trusting my memory, which I generally try to avoid.
But I remember nummies and miracles going for more like 40 and 60 mil each, not triple that. I remember purples being under 6-fig, not half way through. A bunch of stuff is about the same -- crushings and makos seem about where I remember they were (I was working them back then). Orange salvage strikes me as about the same, 2-4m per piece with wide variation.
If you plan on using WW for them, just look for the recipes. Its alot, alot cheaper. It appears some items have like like 100,000% profit for crafting. Really, some enh. you pay 20mil or more for for only costs 1 mil for the recipe. People like me, tho, really hate crafting so i usually pay unless i get it thru tickets. -
Quote:I dont have the "need for" excessive power. I just got by what i want for my toons. It has nothing to do with taking advantage of anyone. The "need for" excessive wealth, when taking advantage of a system, is greedy, imo.I just don't see the how greed only applies to "desire for excessive wealth" and not to "desire for excessive power".
You can't make anyone buy anything, but you CAN make them pay more for said items due to the lack of items in this game. Taking advantage of the system, to me, is the same as taking advantage of someone. Reason? Because if we are wanting to IO our toons then we HAVE to use WW/BM for certain items. (if we want the item within the foreseeable future)
If i could get what i wanted for my toons without using the markets, trust me i would. I try to farm AE tickets/ PI as much as possible to get what i want. I may go to the market once a week. If i have to. -
Quote:I dont have alot of hate. Im a very very funny guy most of the time. I just strongly disagree in this case.I don't think you shouldn't state your opinion; I think the reason why you feel that no one agrees with you is that you are (in my opinion) unnecessarily antagonistic.
And Ubes, can i has my purps back?I haent got many lately due to PLing in the AE and getting tickets. I just thought it was a pitiful funny that i ran a farm real fast and got like 6 temp recipes. System is still borked, imo. Hell, why can't it just drop crappy recipes at least instead of all the temp crap?
-
Ubes, like ive been saying, low supply ++++++ people doing things to screw with the market ========== what we have. Every post ive posted has said about the same thing. People just read what they want and get fired up that someone disagrees or blames something other than laziness.
BTW, i just ran a BM farm waiting on wife to get home. I got:
1 Trap of the Hunter.
2 Gab Hammer
1 taser
1 revolver
1 hand grenade
Really.... ??? LOL. -
1) To buy something to use is not greedy. To hoard, is. To buy up everything to mark it up for others, is.
2) eva_, if i go to Champs for some shoes, buy them to wear, that's not greedy. Or maybe if i buy food to eat, im greedy because i want to live, too, hmmmm. ???
3) Uber, again, i didn't say everyone.
4) Yomo, yes i have to deal with it to a point. That doesn't mean i have to like it. I also have the right to state my opinion. Just because it don't go in line with other opinions don't mean i can't talk about it. Maybe i should just post something like, " hey, look, i was able to flip this or buy 3 of these to make a profit". Man, id be so loved 'round here. lol. I don't fit a mold.
But since not of this has to do with the topic, ill offer my idea again to help with the items. Increase the drop rates. Anyone have anything positive to add to help the supply? Thought not.
Oh, and last night i ran on a team of 8 for 2 demon farms. Got 2..... 2! Inv recipes. A temp stun grenade and a perplex confuse. Hundreds of baddies killed = 2 recipes. Sounds sucky to me still.... -
Quote:Show me where i said everyone? 100-200 isn't down, unless im reversed. The point is that I'm proof that you can't claim everyone is doing that. I'm not offended, I'm trying to point out that you're making claims you can't possibly back up. Do we know some people use the market like that? Sure - a lot of them post here. But the tone of your entire line of thinking in this thread is that basically everyone is some sort of amoral shiester. I think that's a claim based on a feeling of victimization because you don't like how difficult it is to obtain some things than any clear evidence that it's actually the case.
I gave that information in pretty explicit detail in my post. -
@ Uber, when i say people, if you don't fit into that category, then don't assume i mean you. Simple. If i get offended by what someone says theres usually a reason. If not, i ignore it. I didn't say everyone, i said people and/or some people. Gah. And you say lotg got cheaper? I dont see that. Before i19 i bought 25 level 25 7.5 for under 100 mil. The last time i looked they were going for 150-200mil. How did they go down?
@ All_Hell, Theres nothing greedy in trying to buy something. If i go to get me some new nikes and i buy the last pair to use, that's not greedy. If i buy all 4 of the last pairs to let 3 sit in my closet, that's greedy. And i don't play monopoly.
I don't do alot of TFs to get merits. Not everyone has time to do that so we have to rely on other people (aka WW/BM). I work 10 hours a day alot of time then come home to 2 kids to help get homework, baths, snack before wife gets home for dinner. Then we have quality time. Read, watch tv together, or play. Then they go to bed and i get an hour with my wife before i have to go to bed to get up at 430 am. So, please, tell me where i could fit a TF in everyday of the week for merits. I can't so i solo farm/pl a pal or two when i can. Alot of afks in there. Then the weekend comes and i get to TF or farm or whatever. I guess for kids in school, retired, or people without jobs have plenty of time to get merits, A merits or whatever to avoid paying inf. -
I have a fire/fire and elec/sd scrapper. On a tank SC is a disappointment. On a scrapper, its hits much. much harder than burn. I can one shot a mob of x8 with SC, and Burn dont do that. And i feel that SD can withstand more damage than Fire Aura. I can softcap SD and can't FA.
The only thing is the fire attacks recharge faster than the 2 charges in SD and EM.
On a tank, id most likely go SD/SS. SD is very durable and with Rage and AAO, SC and Footstomp is nice. Not to mention KO blow. Its not an AoE, but its a one shot tool. -
Quote:Thats by letting us buy it thru a store type and not based on other peoples values of what they think its valued. People can only bid/buy to the sellers prices. Yes, bid creeping helps but you still have to climb til you get to where it was posted. Ex. I tried to pay the going price on an IO the other day. Only 1 was for sale, 0 bidding. I place the going rate. Hmm, no sale. So i bid higher. No sale. I almost had to double the last 5 to get it. WHY? Because someone wasn't happy with the last 5 sold and wanted more. To get it, i had to pay it because there wasn't any more.... Greed goes to the seller....I still think my proposal to balance the market is the best one: find a cure for gottahaveitrightnowitis. It's the disease that makes marketeers rich and everyone else poor, it's the disease that forces people to pay high prices and it's the disease that causes cries of despair which lure Bad People to the market.
-
Quote:Thats how i make my billions. I sell. I don't try to flip, find niches or anything else via market. When i log in, i log in to play toons. Not sit at WW. Theres a toon on Justice, everytime i log in its sitting in WW. I go run several farms, play with the base editor or whatever. When i get ready to log off, hes still in WW. I mean hours per day. Not the 5 minutes people claim to use it.You can't get purples through merits. Or did you mean a-merits? Yes, everyone agrees it sucks, especially since you can spend all those a-merits you would have needed for just one purple on something else, sell it, and buy a whole set of purples with the proceeds.
But again, you have to sell. Do you not sell anything? Is that what the problem is?
Well somebody obviously bought a Steadfast for 40 mil. There is no need for somebody else to bid 60 mil just to have it faster. They're going to anyway though, so why shouldn't you take their inf? Remember, the LEAST greedy seller gets the sale.
Funny, I did. Pretty much every character I've leveled to 50 since i9 has had a good portion of their build done by the time I hit 50, and that's without inf transfers or heavy marketeering. But again, you have to sell, and you do get more drops/xp running your own missions than doorsitting for someone running on +3.
Or by IO do you mean create a multi-billion inf build with purples and PvP IOs within days of hitting 50? Yeah, the devs don't want you to do that.
Those poor poor people, forced to slot all those overpriced purples.
But it is getting to the point to where im keeping way more recipes than selling now days just to avoid even going to WW due to the prices inflating at rates higher than medical ins, gas, and duke powers energy bills. If the supply/demand is so off that prices jump 10s millions per month, somethings wrong. But i guess that don't matter for those that have 1 toon IOd with yellows that sit in WW for hours thru the day.
I disagree with getting more drops/xp running missions. For one, i sit for myself. Im not sitting for someone else to PL MEH. If im on a team of 8, my xp is less than a team of 2, and i can't level (with PUG teams) faster than i can level myself.
And i don't purple EVERY toon. And i dont use PvP at all. (i dont bother pvping) I couldn't afford to at todays prices. But i do use the higher tier IOs. That alone, still can't be done with just playing to 50. Cheap IOs maybe, but not all the procs, and high end IOs. Without alot of marketeering and i could care less about that part of the game. What i don't like is WW is the only fast way to get IOs and that is based on other peoples moral values, which is very low it seems. -
1) The merit system sucks. So dont toss that out as just a way to say get purples through it. Everyone ive seen refer to purples via merits agree it sucks.
2) The market is ran thru greed as much as laziness or whatever other excuse/reason you can try to blow smoke to cover up. Noone makes the seller list the item at 500mill except the last 1 sold for that (or whatever the "going rate" is. I just sold a steadfast res/def for 40mil inf. I listed it for 2,223. I have no need to list stuff for a higher amount just for the sake to make an extra mill.
2b) Wanting to IO toons has not 1 thing to do with greed. Just like using SO's wouldn't be considered being ungreedy. IOs make the most out of the toons in a way SOs can't. Nothing to do with greed. It's just wanting to make a high performing toon.
3) Speeding to 50 has nothing to do with not affording items. If i play a toon to 50 via missions, theres NO WAY in heck, you can afford to IO it once it hits 50. Not without making inf the same way you would via a PL. -
Quote:I agree. That's why i keep saying the drop rate sucks. I ran a ton of farms earlier and pl'd 2 toons to almost 30. I got 1 orange on my alt. It was a Respec, but still. 1? And on the farmer, i got 6. A couple were temps even. Random is random, but how many kills would you guess i made on say 10 BM runs for under 10 invention recipes? Was killing +3x8 w/bosses.Yes, there would be. It's called supply vs. demand. If the item is extremely rare and yet extremely desirable, making people sell it for like 200M means that everyone with 200M will try to buy one, but there's no way that everyone with 200M will get one.
This is exactly the situation we have with the PvP +defense unique, except the cap is 2B inf. More people have 2B inf and want that proc than there are procs available. You can put up a 2B bid and wait weeks without getting one. I know this, because I did it.
Putting items in a store is not a price cap. Putting items in a fixed price store doesn't just set their price, it increases their supply. I understand you also do want supply of some things to increase, but that's adds a completely different dimension to the discussion - power creep across the broader player base.
Personally, i'd love to see some stuff in a store. Simple. Price it however you want, but give us a chance to get what we want, when we want it at the level we need it. All this put a bid and wait for weeks if ever (depending on how or what someone wants for it) is really getting old for some peeps. Theres more to this game than making inf. I love to IO toons, it's what i do. But i don't like having to deal with other people and if it's the only way we can get stuff, it sucks. IMO, of course. One reason is because "desirable" in this game hurts just as much as the "rarity". -
I dont have a DA but want one. May make the same combo as you have. I always hear about OG instead of CoF. After looking in mids just now, OG runs at a ton lower endurance and has alot more accuracy also.
Or couldn't you take both and leave out leaderships and get better def %s with IOs at a much lower end usage? Could even get CJ and/or Stealth for lower end usage without losing def numbers im sure. Ill play in mids and see. I may be wrong. I just dont like using leadership. End consumption is high. It even hurts my /kin. lol. -
Level my first defenders.
Sonic/Ice and Arch/Arch
Scrapper
Dark Melee/Fire Aura
Tank
Ice/Mace
All are new so i wanna push them into the 30s at least. -
I dont really see a problem at all. I can easily handle mobs of +8 with bosses. And to be honest, i dont know of any tank that can handle +4 AVs and bosses without a team.
Ive already showed the OP my ice tank and how she handles mobs. If anyone has any doubts on ice's survivability, just ask for a demonstration. It's even paired with Kin Melee which really dont have any other mitigation. No slows, ice patches, knockdowns, knockups. -
Quote:But, if there were a cap to some items, it might be a reasonable price. Therefore there would be no real need to just keep trying to gain inf. Understand? If purples had a 200mil cap per, that means they would be semi high, semi low, but more easily obtainable thna 500-700 per. If people just want to make inf for no reason, thats on them, but if items were more affordable for everyone, theyd be no reason to sell off market.RagManX, I am little surprised you are not familiar with the arguments why this would not work. The two main ones are:
1) People would just sell everything really valuable outside of Wentworths.
2) Popular items that people sold within Wentworths would quickly get bought up. Then instead of not getting them because they cost too much, you couldn't get them because they weren't available. You are replacing one problem for another, while effectively penalizing the people who put time and effort into making Inf.
People keep trying to invent ways to stop a limited number of rare items from having a high price. Good luck with that.
Id like to see set bundles sold. Like a set of purples for 1bil or 2bil even for all 6 pieces. Maybe a "rare" store. Kinda like A Thomas Kincaid store. -
@ Arcan, I know i said a billion per set. It may be a stretch for now. But it wouldnt be hard to argue that with the crazy inflation (supply/demand in CoH) over the last year that the "popular" stuff could be climbing to ever new heights, as it continues to do. I mean really, look at whats happened to those prices. Anything in the low millions has been hitting in the 100mil range. Inflation? That's a pretty steep inflation.
Like i said, i'd like to see an increase in recipe drops in missions and at various levels. So, say, a level 10 recipe could drop from a level 30 or 50 mission. Really, do some research on drop rates. It's easy for me to kill however many baddies in a farm run and not even pick up 3 recipes. Really, 3? Come on. And 2 of them were probably temp powers. lol. -
Quote:Thats pretty much what i do. I was referring to the ones that keep loving to say how their toons use alot of the crap recipes but keep talking about how many billions they are trying to achieve. That's when i question their reasons. To me, it don't make sense.Flexibility. I do use purples and PvPOs in my builds, but even when the builds are done I tend to cart around 1-3B on each character, because then, if I want something for that character that money can buy, I can just plop down a big wad of money and have it.
If I actually do something like that, I only do it because I intend to actually play the character some. (Either I want to experience the new shiny I just bought, or I wanted to play the character anyway and the new shiny is some QoL improvement.) That means I have a chance to earn back the bank roll I spent from that character. -
I use mostly the cheap purples too on my trollers and dom. My other toons i like to use 2. The damage and dam/rech, then franken the other 4 slots. That way i can maximize the damage AND get good end recovs.
I mainly get my rech from lotg 7.5s. Two of those are way cheaper than purple sets, and now with inherent fitness, its so much easier to find mule slots for them. That way i can spam the hardest hitting attacks. -
Quote:Not cheating, but im stupid i suppose. Really, answer this for me. Why, really, do you even want billions of dollars to just go buy Salvos, Tempests, Volley Fires, Adrenaline Adjustments, etc? Just to say, ooh, i some inf? I don't get it.I've got something like five or six billion inf, and I have never once slotted a purple.
(I am, of course, cheating horribly here.)
Im in the 10s of billions and still fuss about spending 500mil or more for 1 recipe. I have 2 accounts worth of toons i routinely IO out and farm or do missions with my wife and a few friends. If i were to actually buy stuff at WW, as opposed to what i do, theres no way i would be able to "trick out" one toon the way i like to. Yes, theres ways to do it, but not within the way i play. (niches, flipping, crafting, merit conversions, etc. ) -
Quote:Whatever you want to call it, it still spends the same way. Just because they choose to call the in game money "influence", doesn't mean it's any cheaper then "money", "dollars", "lootz", "denero", "greenbacks", "bread" or any other term used to describe money. In order to spend it, you gotta have it. I don't see the relevance of differenciating it from RL. It's a game but to get stuff, it is not free, so we have to spend what the game gives us as a form of "money".Inf != Dollars. At least it isn't to me, I don't know if you think 1 dollar is worth 1 inf, but I certainly don't.
The thing is, I bet many people experience a sort of price shock when they enter the WW for ubah lootz. They see the price tag and think one billion dollars, I see one billion units of play money. Guess which one of us is more shocked by the price? The situation is very similar in many board games, take Monopoly for an example. For most people it's not problematic to spend hundreds of units of play money during a session of that game while they would never do that with real money. This game just adds a few zeroes to the end of those hundred units of play money.
Frankly, I'd call anyone who claimed all those builds were actually completed within the game deluded. I make builds like that all the time, but end up abandoning the character it was planned for or switching the build focus. Sometimes even making a cheaper version of the build because I don't like the character enough.
As for full sets of Kinetic Combat, Numina, etc., you can get those for very little compared to their "market worth" if you're patient. I do TFs and get my R merits and don't roll them all at once, instead I convert them to A merits and roll them 50 at a time that way. It gets me better returns, but takes a bit longer. Often I get rare IOs I need, sometimes I don't, and what I don't need I sell. Patience goes a long way in making builds affordable.
You want rare IOs? Well, you can either have the build at a low cost or right now. You can only pick one of them.
But youre correct. If someone has the time to do TF after TF and wait months to add up A merits, then they are cheaper. Not everyone wants to spend 6 months for a couple recipes though.
And youre saying noone has builds like they post? I can show you several of my toons with very rares that are complete. -
Quote:LMAO> i totally disagree. I have an Ice/Kin melee tank. s/l/e/n are all softcapd and with EA im hitting in the mid 60s in %s and in teh 70's with a purple. Can easily tank AVs for a team. Wife and i ran the new alpha slots missions and i never went below the M in Menu at the top of the screen. You wont have to worry about Toxic as much as nrg and snl.Ice Armor is probably the worst set in the game for PvE right now. It only gives S/L and E/N defenses, and only caps Cold resistance. It provides a very small amount of Fire and Toxic resistance. The self-healing is not reliable due to the long recharge. The defense debuff resistance is around 50%, which is not high enough to ignore heavy defense debuffs without consuming purple inspirations. It does have debuffs to reduce incoming damage, but the mitigation from them does not make up for the weaknesses of the set.
If you want to play it, go ahead. Any Tanker set can perform the role required of a Tanker. Teammates' buffs, your playstyle, and strategy can help overcome numerical disadvantages of any set.
To the OP, if you want to see her in action send me a pm. Im on the Justice server.
Im not loving Kin Melee at all, though, to be honest and have an Ice/Mace and maybe even an Ice/SS to take her place. The damage output is ok, but man, all the animations bug me to death while fighting. I wanna smack something and move on. Not dance for a couple seconds and hit it. -
Quote:I agree. I love my FA/SS brute. My elec/sd was but burn+footstomp rech so much faster. Esp after the Alpha slot radial boost. Now im off to PL my fire/fire scrapper.I don't know, I have both a FA/SS and SD/SS Tank, both IO'd out and both are currently my favorites. I'd swear the FA/SS puts out more DPS. The SD/SS is no slouch and has more recharge, but I think Burn/FS comes up faster and just chews thru almost anything.
just my observation -
How do brutes survive longer if both are softcapd? Just from a little higher Health meter? The only Brute i wanted was a SS one because brutes out damage tanks and scrappers dont get SS. Other than that, i'd like to see posted numbers of damage saying brutes out perform scrappers. Even with Fury.
Elec/Sd would be the best to compare due to having two big AoE attacks. Before the nerf to SC is was able to hit 850 points of damage. My pics were posted on the forums and may still be able to be pulled up. Since the nerf, its only hitting around 500ish. Whereas my LR is hitting over 700 points of damage. Anyone here with an Elec/SD brute care to compare damage output? Ive never seen one in action.
