It's thinking like this that has the market values so high that it's pushing people away from the market and the game. I know several people that complain every time they log in about how high everything is getting. It's thinking like imma buy all 20 pieces and raise the prices of it. It's ridiculous that purples are up to and over 300mil, oblits and kin com's are sometimes up to 100 mil.
I don't understand why greed runs the market. I sell EVERYTHING for 222. I care less about the "going rate" and that includes such things as Miracle: recovs up to purps. They sell for far above the 222 list BUT that's something i can't help. I've had to become a hoarder to IO my toons. I had to stop a toon at 35 just to get IO's under 50 from tickets and i farm hours per day and craft and keep in a bin what i think i might need in the future. I've even allowed people i know to come look in my bins and sell to them at 1/2 of the market rates because the prices have gotten ridiculous for alot of people.
I guess as you try to greed the inf and market pieces, i'm trying to lower it by listing everything i get for the lowest prices i can. But i'm sure there's more greedy people than there are people trying to think about everyone and not just themselves. -
Quote:My wife and I built a midlevel arc (Big Ideas, by @Amazing Amazon, if you care) to try and do something about the "No #$%ing content V-side!" problem. Unfortunately, the AE is clogged to the point that people don't even look there.
You mean there's something in AE other than farms? -
LOL @ posts. Red side and Blue side have been out for how long? And you guys are STILL trying to say which AT's compare to each other. Here's a thought. They are the same AND they are different. Same powers are used for both sides, but in a completely different way.
Some toons have mitigation, some have defense, some have control, and some do a ton of damage. Is there really any more to say that hasn't already been said about how they compare? All that's left are opinions of who likes what and who doesn't. Chances are you're not gonna change someone's mind about how they feel.
To reply to the OP. I really want to play redside but i don't and i really can't tell you why. I love all of the AT's. From my experience, i'd like to see more types of baddies. Heavy dose of arachnos and snakes gets old. Maybe it gets better later in the game, but from the beginning it gets old fast. For me anyways. -
I just buy it nao. I don't have the time or don't wanna spend the time placing bids, running back and forth to the base to craft. I only IO a toon if it's really gonna make a big difference, otherwise i just use common recipes. I do thank whoever crafts all the lev 25 commons though. You keep making them, i'll keep your pockets full. lol.

Quote:This. Man, i played nothing but scrappers and tanks for years. Just recently i made my first defender after 5 years of playing. I thought of it as, "i don't wanna be a healer", but i had no idea the fun powersets within defenders that have nothing to do with healing. Maybe one day i'll make a blaster and get started on a whole different play style. AGAIN. lol.Don't you find that each alt you make is a challenge in their own right for unlocking powers as you go along?
You get your first 50, and can then play a Kheldian, but there's still a lot of untapped power content in the game.
You want Fulcrum Shift? Go play a Kinetics Defender for 32 levels, or a Controller for 38.
Want to know hat its like to pilot a Tanker once they've got all their defences together? Go play one for the next 100+ hours then. Want to go and own all those Malta and Carnies who gave you Blaster so much trouble? Keep playing that Dark Armour Tank into the 40s!
And so on. Most powersets have some pretty good stuff in the higher tiers. Some even combine in interesting ways. I've played Storm Summoning, but never on a Controller with a mass immobilise with -KB, which makes Tornado into quite a different power.
That's what kept me playing, even if there wasn't an explicit unlockable at the end each time. 3 1/2 years later I'm still not done.
If the developers do introduce new powersets, I'd rather they leave it to us the players to decide when to try them out than force us to play through something else first.
Account wide badges for getting to 50 on certain archetypes could be interesting though. eg "Seasoned Tank" for 1 level 50 tanker, "Master Tank" for 5 level 50 tanks. Could even have these unlock a few cosmetic options, like costume parts perhaps. -
Electric control with a cool pet/pets. 3 little electric imps sparking..... please!!! lol.

There are several items in the 30-40 range that won't sell for months. I've had to stop a toon at 35 and just roll AE tix in hopes of getting some of the pieces so i can actually IO a toon BEFORE 50. Just look for popular pieces and you'll see. In jan i was looking for something (can recall now) but the last sell was in Nov. to me, that's ridiculous to have an invention like IO's with no other way to get them than players trading or luck rolls.

Quote:Blasters get their resistance/defense attributes from any combination of Tough/Weave/Epics/IOs.
The secret to getting ANY Energy Blaster to work with its secondary is to move and think freely between melee and ranged. The sets don't work against each other, they work against the thinking that once you go into melee you must stay in melee. A lot of people cannot think in any terms but melee characters and ranged characters.
Some decide to make Energy Blasters totally ranged so they don't have to worry about how to use their secondary, and in the process they tend to not take most of their secondary.
Even Energy/Energy, the most popular Energy Blaster choice by far, has several great reasons to enter melee. The biggest difference between the two in that regard is /Energy is doing it mostly for single target and /Fire is doing it mostly for AOE potential. Both sets, to get their full potential, have to be able to move and think between various ranges.
What order you enter melee is going to depend on situation. The nice thing about Energy/ with /Fire is that it provides you the option of mitigation that really matches well with the DOT of /Fire.
To be honest, I have a 50 Energy/Elec and a 50 Energy/Fire. I like the Energy/Elec a lot more than Energy/Fire, but that's because I don't particularly like /Fire. I don't dislike it on Energy any more than any other primary, I just don't particularly care for the secondary whereas I really like /Elec as a secondary.
Yea, the plan is to stay actively moving. The only other blaster i have is an ice/ice. He's nice but i planned the build on rech. This one was gonna be damage/defense due to the melee attacks of /fire. -
Preciate the replies. So, basically my d comes from epics?
As far as the play style i have a couple ideas.
1) Use 2ndary as primary and use primary to keep them off me.
2) Use primary to keep KB'd off their feet (by slotting for kb) while using fire's aoes to kill.
I don't have any blasters so i'm not sure if i can make him survive either one. It just seemed like a good challenge to try and a fun combo. -
I made my 5 year old a blaster to play with. I made him an nrg/fire. Watching him play the combo looked pretty neat and was thinking of making the combo for myself but i had a couple concerns.
1) Blasters defense is kinda weakish against melee attacks. /fire has alot of powers in melee range.
2) How survivable would he be if i got melee def/resist as high as possible?
3) How much def/resist do blasters actually have?
I have the inf to make him as good as possible, just don't know how good, possible is.
Thanks for any info. -
I don't think we need any nerfs. If anything, just make tougher baddies. For example, I can stand in the middle of 2 mobs x8 of melee based baddies and not get hit at all. But yesterday, i ran a mish is PI that had all PP (paragon protectors). Man, that was tough. Just create or add more stuff like that to the game.
If we're able to build super toons with IO's (which had to be the plan or why else even give us IO's to begin with), then we need to be fighting far tougher bad guys, imo. I can easily take myself and a wifes 50 and tear through +4x8's of anything i've seen yet other than an AV. -
Not sure what you mean but yes difficulty affects inf. The more difficult the mobs the more inf u get. Grats on ya 50 btw
-
I tried afk farming with my fire/kin in the cage match against a lev 50 toon of my wifes. I did it for a few days off and on. Not one drop. However, i can go farm in PI and in a few days time, get several purples. I think i'll just stick to PI. It seems to have a better drop rate for my luck. I don't pvp and don't need them. I just wanted to sell them.
-
Ive never done it before until i made my elec/sd scrapper. Now, every melee toon will be melee def capped.
I can run my BM farm at 0x8 and stand in the middle of 2 mobs and not go under 3/4 health. UNLESS, the %'s hit me all at once and i face plant. Otherwise, i just stand in the middle of 20 baddies and laff before i charge them to death. -
I have 3 accounts. Mine, wifes, sons. I wouldn't run missions with people with them. I may let one sit and soak up xp, but i don't pug either. I run with the same few. I mainy use mine to farm. I run a fire/kin. I use a fire/rad on wifes and a fire/sonic on sons to run thru a BM, Freak, and Demon farm. The door really opened up for me with multiple account with what i could afford in WW. Granted at the time we had to get "fillers" for bigger spawns. Now, i just do it to PL our toons.

Quote:I'm assuming SC = Shield Charge.
Shield Charge and Lightning Rod summon pseudopets. The target of the power is you as it brings you to the target and then spawns the attack. As far as I know, those procs will never proc on an enemy, but actually, will proc on you, meaning you could actually die from those two powers. I guess it is possible that the slotting also affects the spawned attack of the pseudopet, but as far as I know, this is not the case.
I haven't seen any AT match the AoE potential of an Elec/SD/Blaze scrapper yet, although typically that AoE potential is wasted as you aren't always hitting the target cap for your mini-nukes, making something like Fire/SD/Blaze a good option because it offers both AoE and ST dmg.
Fire/SD/Blaze is awesomenesssauce. I'm not sure why someone would put a proc in either charge, unless they can get max damage and softcap def w/o the sets bonuses of Oblits or something similar.
And i promise, they aren't "mini-nukes". lol. At around 200% damage bonus from AAO in a mob, they are pretty much gone after 2 charges, without fireball. (at even con) -
With are without bosses? Even con or +1,2...etc?
Even con, solo (no bosses) my elec/sd kills all with the 2 charges. He's fully IO'd with purps, 7.5, oblits, etc. The charges are up for each mob in a BM farm.
I run him with my wife's fire/kin. Together, wow. We rip stuff up. Also with her Fire blaster.
At the moment i'm working on her a Spines/Elec scrapper and a SD/SS tank to join in the AoE killing spree. The Ice/Kin sounds nice, too, though after reading these posts. lol. -
Not sure if you're talking about 300 and 600 HP but my SC with BU and AAO grants me up to and over 800 hp. On a team, i've hit over 1000hp with SC. I'm not sure how LR works but the numbers are considerably lower. I usually see 2 ticks of numbers (people say there should be 3, but i only ever see 2) and it usually runs around 500-600hp.
You're welcome to see my scrapper version on Justice whenever you like then find a brute to compare. -
Any build is fine with procs and such. That wasn't the point of this thread, but anywho.
I rolled a katana/da. Kat has awesome damage, a def buff, and less end usage that spines (with the 2nd damage aura) and he's at level 25 atm. Running ok so far. Really fun build. I need a kb IO tho, bad.
On a side note, i rolled a spines/elec. It has 2 damage auras, plus nice AoE damage. Just got powersink and WOW. Killing non stop. -
Quote:It's all good. Just didn't know if you farmed or what not being new to Justice. I'm in it everyday so just holla if you wanna.BTW didn't mean to ignore you, I'm mostly marketing with my Justice toon at the moment. I've been working on a scrapper on Freedom, splitting time between that and my Midlevel Crisis toons and occasionally playing my level 50s on Virtue. ^_^
You know, the usual altitis.
It hasn't been a week, but i made over 500mil since yesterday. Farming. Make that 640 as i just got and sold a respec recipe. -
Quote:True. Guess it's just not for me or i need to learn which powers are needed and don't just get them because they look really, really sweet. lol It just sux if i can't get them because i like getting most of the powers from sets. Im not a big pool power picker except for the basics. My point was more that dark armor offers a bag of tricks like no other set and each trick is in itself balanced. Giving it an end recovery power would mean you could use all the tricks all the time which I think is overpowered and my guess is that the devs at least initially had the same thought.
-
me? Yea, i could. I have an elec/sd. I prolly wouldn't go elec again. Prolly DM. I seen a DM/DA scrapper own once. I really thought about Kat/DA, but i have a Kat/Regen. I really hate making the same powersets, although i think Kat/DA would be awesomesauce.

Quote:I apologize for not reading all the posts here but from the ones I did read I thought this might be a different way to look at things. Let's look at all the powers in DA:
1. Dark Embrace (Toggle) - Similar in effect to other resistance toggles (i.e. Charged Armor) at similar cost
2. Death Shroud (Toggle) - Similar in effect to other damage auras (i.e. Lightning Field) at similar cost
3. Murky Cloud (Toggle) - Similar in effect to other resistance toggles (i.e. Conductive Shield) at similar cost
4. Obsidian Shield (Toggle) - Similar in effect to other status protection toggles (i.e. Static Shield) at similar cost
5. Dark Regeneration (Click) - Very unique power at healing 30% per target hit at 33 endurance. I would compare it to Siphon Life which is heals 10% at a cost of 10 endurance but has a way higher damage component. Triple the heal for triple the cost plust the AoE component which can significantly multiply the heal and the damage seems OK to me. Because of its uniqueness balancing this power is probably mostly a matter of personal opinion but I wouldn't say it is off.
6. Cloak of Darkness (Toggle) - Similar in effect to other stealth/defense toggles (i.e. Energy Cloak) at similar cost
7. Cloak of Fear (Toggle) - Another unique power. Looking again at Dark Melee it is kind of an AoE-Toggle version of Touch of Fear. Spammin Touch of Fear unslotted should cost about 1 eps (if my math is right) so I think 0.52 eps for an AoE toggle version is pretty cheap.
8. Oppressive Gloom (Toggle) - And another unique. I would call it an AoE-Toggle version of Stun (Energy Melee). Spamming Stun I believe results in about 0.5 eps. Again 0.08 eps plus the minor health damage seem dirt cheap in comparison.
9. Soul Transfer (Click) - Similar in effect to other Self-Rez powers (i.e. Resurgence) at similar cost (none).
So, if all individual powers are reasonable endurance wise why is the set viewed as too expensive? I think it all comes down to playsytle. People were complaining that Regen has to many clicks which can get you killed if your not on the ball constantly and which also causes constant redraw. They are complaing that Auto Powers are generally to weak to spend a power on. People complain that you have to take every single power in SR to get a solid build and they complain that Dark has too many toggles so they run out of endurance when they keep them on all the time. Dark Armor will offer a unique play experience and is actually really powerful when played well even without IOs. The set also can benefit a lot from IOs and actually accepts quite a range of different sets.
And for the record I am frequently frustrated with my DA brute but when I get in the groove I think the set is just awesome. (The brute is 34 right now and I just yesterday managed to get my theft of essence proc which so far hasn't really changed my play experience.)
I see what you're saying, but still disagree, respectively. Please note, the end usage may be close to the same in numbers in the sets that offer alot of toggles, BUT they also get Powersink, Consume, Quick Recov on 2 of the sets, or alot of auto powers. /DA is the only one that gets nothing to negate the endurance costs. That's what bugs me. AND if the "mitigation" is soooo great, why does it need a heal so powerful? Not that it's not cool, but if the defense was that good, i don't see the need in a heal that takes 33% of your endurance. (but the heal don't bug me as much as all the toggles) -
in a story a little shorter than yours, yes. ive done it a few times when people see my toon in action.

Well, if you're just talking about selling drops via market, then the market and farming go hand in hand. Without the farmers, the market would be pretty empty because drop rates are pretty low, imo. If i run a regular mission, i never get 15-20 recipe drops like i do per farm run in PI. Flippers can't flip whats not in the market to begin with. And if people crafted their own stuff, the prices would be alot lower.
I get 9000 tickets per hour in AE. ( mind you i run 3 accounts so everyone can't do that)That's a ton of recipe rolls. I very seriously think i can keep up with any flipper and a toon left in WW to flip or craft. 9 mil vs. 1mil i can't see. You can't just think about the inf in farming, you gotta consider all the drops as well.
But again, it's whatever you like to do OP. Inf can be made either way. If you like playing your toon or leaving them at WW, its up to you.
