    Well, im on my 3rd one. I have a dp/nrg at 41, DP/fire at 33, and dp/dark at 22. I must say that i like the set. On a team i feel it shines. I was fighting red cons and my HoB is 6 slotted with only 2 oblits atm and i was still wiping them out by the time it was done. Can't wait til i purp one of them out. Prolly the /fire. Chem ammo+fsc+combustion sounds nice.
  4. I do this every day. Farm PI and or AE. I have a fully IO'd with purples Fire/kin and Elec/SD. My thoughts:

    1) To go just for tix, you want speed. IF you want speed i'd go fire/kin and set the diff for the fastest way to kill to get the tix.

    2) If you want to turn up the diff and farm, i'd go elec/sd soft capped with a ton of rech. Even at 152% rech like mine, my charges are up for each mob at higher difficulties. But if you want tickets only, then the diff is gonna be lower so you kill faster with your charges so there not up as fast for the next mob.

    Elec/SD farming is fun and i like it and all, but it's not as fast as my fire/kin. Most of the time, i'll log a /kin to SB me for running from mob to mob. lol. ( i have no travel power) But like i said, that's my opinion. Others may find it different.
  5. To me, it's like trophies. I get a toon that i really like, PL him/her to 50 and IO/ Purp them out. Then when friends are on i play or exm down and run with them. I hardly run under 30's in the game. I like powers and being able to use them. I use purps when i need. If i need more rech for a build i get it. Like i said, to me there like trophies. And i have quite a few of them.

    Yea, my ice/ice blaster is overpowered too. I got a stoopid Blizzard AND an Ice Storm, even though ice storm is in my 2ndary, i think it does WAY too much damage with my stupid Aim AND Build Up.

    LR and RoA... No argument here. Long animations and powers being in relatively average powersets, I've never seen a problem with these.

    What's the best recharge you can get on SC with SO's? What's the best best recharge that you can get with FSC with SO's? Now compare the damage over the down time of SC that FSC is still doing. Any ideas?

    Well, it would probably help. I mean, you could always look at the in-game numbers or other sources of information and see if/when they sync with the existing information so as to make your information seem correct.



    1. You're talking about being surrounded in a farm. That's not really the "normal" gameplay that this game is balanced around.

    2. I never said anything about it being impossible to hit more than 2 targets. I said that you can get 3 on occasion. The only way to actually get to the cap and treat GD as a "real" AoE is to stack the enemies up (which is possible, if difficult). The AoE capability is a secondary benefit of an AoE power, which is why it doesn't follow the AoE damage formula.

    3. If you can really find a pick of you hitting 10 targets with a single application of Golden Dragonfly, feel free. I'm game for seeing that. I'll still say that you can't compare them on the same level because the amount of target manipulation required to get 10 targets into the tiny area of GD is almost infinitely more than is required for FSC and Shield Charge. You can't simply assume that every attack on the planet that can hit multiple targets will have saturated targets, especially when it's literally impossible to fit that many targets in the area of effect without a bug.
    It may not be the "normal" play but it seems to be VERY popular over the past 5 years. Just instead of everyone hanging in PI, they stay in Atlas. I could really care less for looking at mids and going in game to see if every sinlge tick of damage adds up. I create for concept more than damage. Even on damage toons. Playing at x8, it's not hard at all to get surrounded by baddies. Granted you have a toon (even if you don't have a clue what's going on) that can handle it. (like i do)

    Mids' doesn't handle rolling DoTs correctly. FSC really has a base damage of 121.44.

    Mids' also doesn't have the proper damage on Shield Charge because it wasn't increased to account for the AT mods change. SC really has a base damage of 200.2 damage.



    Golden Dragonfly deals 164 base damage in a 10' long, 20' arc. You can get 2, at most 3, target with a single application of GD and it requires a decent bit of placement. The hard cap on the number of targets is 10, but it's literally impossible to fit that many targets into the area of the effect so that number is pretty useless.

    FSC, SC, and LR are all PbAoEs with 10' and 20' radii respectively. FSC can easily target all 10 targets for its target cap and SC and LR can easily target all 16 of their targets.



    Don't attempt to compare a power that has a tiny bit of AoE capability as a tangential asset with powers that are legitimately AoE powers. You're comparing apples to oranges in an attempt to make the question of balance irrelevant. Welcome to the required Straw Man facepalm. If you're going to do it the same way next time, at least try to make it a bit harder to tell along with actually getting the numbers right. Maybe use Shadow Maul instead of Golden Dragonfly, because at least Shadow Maul is intended to hit multiple targets.

    GOOD JOB! TY. Anyways, the powers based on SO's aren't overpowered. Like i said. With all that gibberish i can't tell if you're agreeing they aren't or just wanting to look like MR. UBERNUMBERS. I guess we're suppose to know mids numbers are off/on?

    Surrounded in a farm, it's VERY possible to hit more than 2 targets. Need a pic posted, again?

    I think the dev's wouldn't allow themselves to add another ridiculously overpowered attack in to the game, as bad as that makes it look when there are now better choices.

    I consider this about equal with full auto, PBAoE is more worthwhile than FA's cone in my mind when teaming. Being centered in the spawn is not very dangerous due to teammates presence, and the greater target cap makes up for the rest of the difference.

    Yes, I've personally used every crashless nuke extensively, it's not just heresay.
    However, that said, it should probably have at least FA's recharge, and the other problems still need addressing.

    According to mids, Fire Sword Circle has almost the same base damage as SC, LR, with about a minute less recharge time. Golden Dragonfly is more powerful than all of those with even less recharge. You can use GD 2 times for each FSC and about 7 times per Charge. Maybe EVERY power is "overpowered"??

    They are NOT overpowered. We have to refer to SO's because the game is still based on those. If you don't think so then head to the market section and complain about the prices and they'll tell you.

    The reason people think the charges are over powered is because you get 2 when you choose Elec and SD. You have to be reminded that both charges have a 90s rech. so what are you gonna click for 90s while they are recharging? You better be soft capped.

    RoA overpowered in the day of "IO's"? Well, considering that ALOT of people wanna play the "COH is fine with SO's" card, you can't really call a power "overpowered in the day of IO's".

    I don't think calling a power overpowered by using IO's is fair. EVERY toon can become overpowered with IO's. I bet you i can even make a Mind troller capable of farming. Wanna try that bet?

    Every crashless nuke should have the same damage/timer just as the nukes all act the same way considering they all get the same 2ndaries.

    On a side note, i'll take the DP name winner with my Goldy Glocks. tyvm.

    Some folk like to pretend that you can only get good drops by farming, which is patent nonsense. Farming is more efficient at generating drops than 'regular' gameplay, but you'll get good drops regardless.

    When I had more play time my fire/rad got a lot of great drops from farming, but he also got his share of great drops running missions with teams (he got lots and lots and LOTS of team invites, which I was occasionally able to accept).


    You MAY get good drops on teams but chances are alot less. You can't even compare drops rates in a x8 farm solo to running with teams. Or at least in my experiences. I've ran umpteen ITF's and have never seen a purp. Sometimes, not even a single drop whereas i can farm and fill 20 recipe slots on each run. Mostly commons but theyre 100k each plus a Numina and an Arma trip that i got yesterday in 3 runs. The 300mil you MIGHT make in a 1-50 run, a farmer can make in a day or so or more. My wife made 900mil in 2 days of farming last month.

  19. After seeing the Water Spout on villians and the toggle in the Cold set that looks like flowing water, i think they could come up with a water set. Would it be the best looking set out there? Maybe not, but it'd be water and a set that many would like to play.

    Personally i'd rather have an Elec troller set with 3 little electric imps.

    1) The level 50's capability to survive
    2) The level 50's capability to output tremendous amounts of damage quickly
    3) Any external buffs that might help (adding fulcrum shift into the picture makes 4/8 reasonable)

    In the end, I'll run 2/8. If I'm in the mood, I'll run 4/8, but you can better believe my elec/sd/blaze isn't going to have more than 2 others on a team. Inspirations are the key to being effective at that level of difficulty, and I need those drops.

    I concur. +4 is best xp in game unless it takes an hour to run it. But on my elec/sd if imma do +4's i want more people than 2 to help kill while my charges are recharging, even at 152% rech. Thank goodness for softcap. lol. And i'll log wifes /kin instead of insp. unless i have a decent team or globals i trust not to kill me.

    On a side note. I was trying to PL a guy last week. I asked him 3 times to wait on my Flashfire to pop b4 he shot at mobs. After the 3rd time...... BOOT.

    I agree. It's alot cheaper. My issue is looking for which ones go well together to max the %'s. Alot of time in mids looking at which recipes offer the best plan.

    I did it once on a SD/Fire tank vs. my cousins SD/Fire scrapper. My %'s were better in each of the areas PLUS i had an extra percent that my cousin couldn't fit in with the power 5 slotted at that time.

    Not counting bonuses, frankenslotted toons are prolly more efficient than using regular SO's or commons for not too much more. Considering some commons push upwards of 200-400k on some days.
  22. Not sure what you meant by that last statement, but the boss was purp to me at lev 50. Not sure if you meant 30's as in level? During 2xp, i'm sure he can get past 30. I can get to 50 in a week during regualr xp. 30's in a normal weekend.

    On a side note, how bout a Cold/Fire corr? Something about Sleet and RoF+Fireball sounds yummy.
  23. 1st) I know and i am a 5 year vet that farms everyday. No burn out here. Can't specualte on what EVERYONE else feels and does. You don't know that.

    2nd) A cheap farmer to start off with is a Fire/Kin. You can do it with SO's. You have transference to refill your end and transfusion to refill your health. Now with the settings allowed, set it to -1 and get a farm contact in PI. PURPLES WILL STILL FALL, and at -1 the speed and lack of IO's will still be efficient.

    3rd) AFTER, you start making inf with the fire/kin, then build up your ELEC/SD. I have one fully IO'd with purples, 7.5's. His melee defense is 46%, my s&l resist is like 33% with 152% recharge. His charges are up on each mob, and he kills just about as fast as a fire/kin. Basically 2 shots mobs at 50-51.

    4th) I'd go with melee def and get a BM farm. They die faster than most farms other than council prolly and give better drops, IMO. Also, with melee soft capped, he'll rock on an ITF. Can pretty much solo it.

    If i knew how to post a build via mids, id show you mine but i don't know how. I may just type it all in. But it's a VERY xpensive build.
  24. Well, i see you don't have any /storm builds. May i suggest a Fire/Storm troller? It's a very fun mission toon. Imagine, gale+hurricane into a corner>freezing rain>fire cages>hot feet>lightning storm, all while the imps are jumping on them. Very fun and solo capable.

    I also see that you don't have any Katana toons. I see you have BS, but i loooove katana so much better. Animations and speed+ the power. I've had mine 1 shot a boss. Awesome single target like you're looking for. Paired with /regen, /wp, /sr, /dark, /inv.... lol. I've seen it played well with each of those. Mines a /regen.

    Plant trollers are my fave looking powersets in the game. May wanna try that one.

    My last would be Elec/SD scrapper. See you like shield charge. Well, with this combo, you get 2. Awesome AoE monster. Mine can solo +4's easily, but he is very heavily IO'd.
