Quote:Gotcha, ty for the explanation. Not what i am implying at all my point is and i am not the only one that feels this way is that the self proclaimed leaders of this server never saw fit to try and reach out to ppl on this server for help that have done the new raid format several times most everyone remembers the epic fails. I will still be surprised if half the ppl don't leave after the first zone wipe.

Quote:Yeah and it's happened to me several times - truth is, if you raid often it will happen to everyone, at least once.Your right I shouldn't take it personal, but I would if it was my SG mate and friend who got locked out because of a poacher. I could petition but that would only annoy me more because I've been here long enough to know how the system works. Or I could not ever lead another Hami raid again since I don't like the new format and quite simply not have to deal with that problem which was created by the new system to begin with. As you said but as long as it's public, then that is the fact of life.
As for the EOE's they can be gathered in the zone or on PI monster islands. It's nice to know that we wouldn't have to kill a billion of the GM's to spawn Hami in the zone.
Have a great day and thanks for answering my questions.

IMO, the way to mitigate that is to do them reguarly so if it happens to you, it's not like it was the only raid of the year. -
Quote:You may also want to check out Quat's guide at http://quat.nimh.net/i9HamidonRaid.htmlNot a bad overview, although tactics have changed some. I would recommend adding a Yellow Mitos taunt team. This team has 6 tanks and 2 emps. Idea is to pull the PBoA away from the yellow mitos and out to the tanks, taunting at max range. Then you can swarm the yellow mitos without fear of damage, the need for CM, etc.
If you want to be cautious and don't care about time, clear the yellows, then clear the blues, then clear the greens then hit hami. But you can easily have assault teams clearing the blues while the yellows are going down then everyone concentrates on the greens. Or, if most of the characters have a hold, then you can have one assault team start working on the greens as everything else is being cleared. (And the yellow taunt team can join the fray as their taunt target is taken down.)
The vet power, Assemble The Team is great for evacuating the jello and if possible, 2 characters on each team should have one. (3 will be needed when we get faster because of the 30 minute recharge time, but to start it might go slowly so the first character's assemble might have recharged by then.) But even if there is no ATT it is very possible to run like crazy and get out of the goo before the bloom kills you, even on a flyer.
I have a bunch of EoEs so if someone wants to collect some in advance I'll be happy to email them over. I think I have 15 or 20 sitting in the storage bin. -

Quote:Yes. Especially if you start to have successful regular raids. It's the reality of the situation and people shouldn't take it personal - petition for instanced hamis if that'd make you feel better, but as long as it's public, then that will be a fact of life.Reality of the server is how our server is. In reply to weather we are self defeating or not. On the other servers are there spot highjackers waiting for someone to dc so they can jump the spot? preventing your Team member from getting back in zone or has that stopped?

I'm against using methods outside of the game to communicate (in terms of the mentor project), unless it's one-on-one mentorship, because by sticking with a global channel (N P C in the case of NA servers), you guarantee that all present will be able to participate - something you can't guarantee with methods such as skype, vent, ts, etc.
The forum on Guildportal is an exception because practically everyone has a browser. Not everyone has at the minimum a microphone for voice chat.
^ Personal view
I *think* Stale and Landrig are discussing methods of coordinating NA and EU - just wouldn't want people to think we're discussing changing how we mentor people.
Stale, Landrig, perhaps you should take it to tells at this point? -
You act like it's never been done on another server.

You may want to do a search on this, as there's a thread or two in the main forum already discussing it.

Infinity tends to be fairly well stocked for players, I'm told.
May I suggest you look into joining a global channel for your server? Since much of the game is instanced and there are many zones to be in and even low-level toons can go into almost any of them, it can look empty compared to WoW, when in reality a lot of people aren't simply congretating in one area.
Also, you may want to look into the Mentor Project, listed in my signature. -
I was struck by nothing in the Central Time Zone.

Quote:The gauntlet has been thrown, sir.I'm counting 10 mentors from Justice so far, a solid second place.
Y'know, if you're an innocent bystander looking over this thread and wondering why it was stickied, I'd hope that you remember it the next time you're in Atlas Park or Mercy Island and hear someone asking basic questions in /broadcast.
Please, refer them to us if you don't want to get too involved - our motto is practically "Neutiquam erro".
True for mentor and neophyte. -
I've had quite a few people say they were happy to have participated and thought it was a much fun as I felt.
Again, thanks to everyone.
I'd like to try again in a month or so, learned a lot from the experiment. -
The Mentor Project overall has hit 50! mentors.
10 of them call Justice their home and for that, I am sincerly grateful that so many are willing to sacrice their time (and a global channel - stupid 10 limit restriction), energy, and resources to make this a glowing sucess.
I'd like to thank everyone who has volunteered for such a role and I would encourage anyone interested to look at the link in my signature.
Also, if you're teamed with someone who you feel may benefit from having active and willing sucke...people to guide new or returning players, please refer them to the Mentor Project.
This only works if we can reach people who would appreciate the help.
Thanks again. -
That was the most hami fun I've had in a while. Ty everyone for trying it out.

Quote:It may have been more polite to mess with his event in the first place? Do you really not see how laughable the suggestion is, coming from you?Perhaps it would be more polite to avoid cluttering up the thread about Cai's wonderful event with unrelated ugliness?
Quote:Also, if you would like to attack my integrity, I would appreciate if you did it without insulting the membership of the TL supergroups with unfair generalizations.
Here's what I don't get. At a Hami raid (the first I'd seen you attend in 2 years of regular hami attendance) you got upset when I, while running the tank team, declined the services of a tank without the pretty standard requirement of 10 points of kb protection. You took umbrage because you thought I was discrimminating against the tank because of some percieved personal reason (I had no idea who the tank was or the fact that he felt I had some grudge againt him - to this day I couldn't tell you who it was or why you'd feel that), but part of your rant was railing against community events becoming "elitist" - because evidently, a fire tank purchasing 3 kb IOs is beyond the capability of a player who attends raids. You hit the elitist angle pretty hard, even though it's laughable, and something you'd know to be untrue if you had actually attended raids. Yet evidently, you felt so upset by it that you refused to participate in something dominated by "elitist" players and stood on the rock watching the raid. (To be fair, you said you watched to make sure that despite your pronouncement of doom at me taking only 4 vet tanks with taunt and kb protection, that the raid would be ok before you left)
What I don't get is how you can couple that stance you took and a position I agree with (there's no place for elitism) with the fact that you, as a member of two old and established groups on the server and your position as moderator in two of the most active and public channels of the server, did what you could to "game" the contest and deny other players a fairer opportunity to benefit from the prizes that were available. Darkbridger (who I respect both as a person and as a player) quite rightly brings up the point that members of TL didn't need the prize offerings and yet, I can't square that with the fact that you did - and as you said earlier, you aren't splitting that prize up.
So which is it? You needed the influence and saw an easy way to get it, in which case you were motivated by greed and seized the opportunity at the expense of other, more casual players - something that could perhaps be described as "elitist".
Or, you didn't need the influence and decided to claim the prize by gaming the contest at the expense of other, more casual players - motivated by something that could perhaps be described as "Schadenfruede".
You and others that participated said you just wanted to team and have fun. Fair enough, except that two of you claimed 2 of the top 3 prizes. I think you have all said pretty much all that needs to be said, by your own actions.
And as WrongNumber has pointed out, she accomplished the same alone and in less time than it took the 5 of you to accomplish. Perhaps that says volumes as well about why you teamed. Eh, maybe not.
By choice, you are in a leadership role on the server, both by being members of and unless I am mistaken (which could easily be true by virtue of my not really caring about SGs) leader of Tempest Legion (one of the more established SGs on the server) and also by being a moderator in at least 2 of the server community global channels.
Why on earth would you, in that role, put yourself in a position to take from that community?
Disclaimer: Like Katfood, I am also a moderator in JFA2010 and Justice United. Mermoine is a moderator in JFA2010.
tl;dr - Integrity is a pillar of leadership. -
The reputation system is the 2nd dumbest thing I've seen the mods do here on the boards in the last 2 years.
-
Thank you, anonymous eunichs for more comments. I welcome the opportunity to address some of the points raised.
1) Psst Kat is the only one on that team in TA
Really? Mermoine isn't any longer? I shall update my rolodex.
Again, thank you for bring this to my attention. Too bad you forgot to sign your name, and simply defended TA.
I can only think you don't actually like TA and just want me to believe that a certain other player's ravings that TA engages in a lot of shady forum activities is true.
Which, in all truthfulness, I don't believe...simply that there are some people without integrity in both TA and TL...and who bring disrepute upon both groups. -
Heh...here's actually an intelligent neg rep I got.
"Sounds statistically average... Very rude and ridiculous, and with 0 fact checking before throwing nonsensical accusations at a group completely uninvolved..."
Too bad it was made by yet another anonymous keyboard hero. Thus, I'd like to thank them for giving me an opportunity to make a new post.
Did I mention that at least 2 of the 5 people involved with Katfood and Reeta are in TEAM AWESOME?
Again, keyboard commando, ty. -
*shrug* Keyboard heroes who post anonymous comments are the least likely to influence me...at least, not in the way they would prerfer.

It's been said before but it tends to not be understand by people who view the markets as evil.
The seller sets the *minimum* amount but the buyer sets the *maximum* amount.
The people who don't understand that fundamental fact tend to be people who whine about the markets the most. -

I've been told that I have selfishly not attributed sources to my guide.
Thus, I do the following:
1) Quatermain has been invaluable in crunching the numbers and deciding the precise ratio of what AT/Powerset is required for this endeavor. If you have questions, I encourage you to send him a tell or find him in game and ask him to tell you how the i8 Hami was more fun.
2) Pumbumbler has been critical in pointing out the various technical flaws in my plan. To wit, he said that he has a stranglehold on all the groupies and is unwiling to release any of them without recieving a PM or in-game tell from a prospective groupie saying, "THE TIME IS NOW! I think that enri is twice the toon you are." Help me out. Help me out.
3) Jenny Lewis contributed a candy cane strategy that I was unfortunately forced to reject. I ask, plead and urge all of you reading to email her a candy cane - global is the same as the name.
Thank you all,
