    Which Server?

Defiant for my "Serious" Characters with serious backstories etc...

Union for my Puns and funnies (I can roleplay a silly billy much better than a serious angsty-type serious character! - Hence why I used to play Malkavians in VtM and any sessions I ran became "Carry on Vampire". It was a good job I was in an RP group that felt the same way!

  3. Well, it's the weekend before the holidays and I've finally got my very last bits of shopping done so I can now relax and say:

Happy Christmas/Solstice/Hanukkah/Season's Greetings* to all CoXers wherever you are.

I hope 2009 will be filled with Villains to "arrest", Heroes to defeat and as many evil schemes to disrupt or enable as your heart could desire.

All the best to the players, devs and NC community team.

OK, how about Barry Cuda? (he'd have to be some sort of ice villain and of course is ideal for Mako's PPP!)
  5. Thanks for that reply The_Phantoms, and sorry for missing the "at the moment" off my last post - it's fixed now!

The quote that you took from my post however wasn't mine, it was the "chant" that Jade_Warrior took up huuuge chunks of the thread with. But the fact behind it is that NC* Whatever they are now (I always mix up acronyms) have stated that there isn't a problem with the current numbers, they are happy enough with the current numbers and the current numbers are financially viable. So much so that they have employed more staff in recent months to work on the game.

The_Phantoms, as I said here I realise that this is something you and a few other people feel very strongly about, and yes - maybe the servers aren't as busy as you would like them - but they are busy enough and that isn't an opinion, it's a fact borne out by NC's continued commitment to the game.

As I said in my last post, just because a vocal minority say that there's a problem doesn't mean there is one, just that they perceive one. In the same vein, just because people say there isn't a problem it doesn't mean they're right either. The numbers tell the true story and the only people who know them are NC (as the only people with all the facts).
  6. I don't consider myself a "forum good boy" or anything along the line, neither do I think I have a huge post count, but please - this subject has been done to death and back again.

    Jade_Warrior - you said:

    [ QUOTE ]
No one new ever comes in here saying "lets keep the servers" it the same people who want to keep them that keep chanting "there is no server population problem". And its these same people who will end up being the death of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In real life I work in Customer Relations. The role of my department is to listen to, deal with and feedback compliments, comments, feedback and suggestions to the right departments.

99% of my day-to-day work is dealing with complaints, in fact if I was to just listen to the contacts I have with customers I would wonder how my company stays afloat or ever has customers returning.

But here's the kicker, today my department took about 350 calls, we have 80,000 customers a day, so we've got to be doing something right. Indeed when we send out surveys the amount of positive feedback we get is great and we are regularly given awards.

The point is that people aren't likely to write in to a company to say "Thank you for giving me what I expected from you" people write in either to say "you're not giving me what I expect" or they say "you exceeded all my expectations and wildest dreams."

I think that the fact that most of the people who play the game don't say that there needs to be a server merge speaks volumes, but what speaks even louder is the fact that the people who run the game and who can see the actual numbers have said that there is no need at the moment.

So yes Jade - it really is the case that:

"There is no server population problem,
there will not be a server merge"

Edited to add "at the moment"

    Ha. Ha.

So you're telling me there were doom threads in 2004-2005? As I say, ha. The doom thread only started this year about.

Also, I think people are missing the point here. The whole point of the thread WASNT to discuss about the EU server populations. I was explaining why the EU populations are the level they are now!

Ugh, I'm not trying to start a DOOM thread here, but "EU populations" seems to fit into the DOOM section for a lot of people...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, The_Phantoms, the forums search won't let me go that far back, but we certainly had these discussions back in August 2006 and I am sure I can remember them even before then. In fact it seems that my whole time on the boards have involved Dooom threads.

And yet here we are, nearly 2 1/2 years later - still going strong and prodding buttock!

I realise that this is something you feel strongly about, but creating a new thread, even if it's down to one a month, ad infinitum, isn't really helpful.

The subject's been thrashed to death on sooo many threads now that it's not really a discussion anymore - so it's not suitable for General Discussion. The question's been answered by red names all the way back to Bridger so it's not a Player Question any more, it's becoming even more frequent a suggestion than vehicles so there really isn't a place any more for these threads.

As I say, I realise that you feel strongly about this, despite the counter arguments. And I respect you for your tenacity, but please - just let it drop.

    Thanks!

    Ethan
  9. This is a great idea Scarlet_Shocker!

I have a few names that have been floating around for a while. I'm afraid they're all puns (as that's the sort of name I go for):

    Hayley Lulia - A sonic/sonic defender

Helen Highwater - I'm currently playing her sister, Lady Camilla Highwater (Come Hell and High Water... for those who don't get the reference )

Barbara Seville - I was thinking this could be some sort of Dual Blades character (as I doubt we'll get a scissors powerset!)

Noah Vale - With a battle cry "It's all to no avail!"

Shirley Knot - I was thinking something like the Gordian Knot and so something involving broadswords to cut it...

Horace Scope - Definitely magical, not sure for powersets.

Eleanor Handbag - "It's all gone to Hell in a Handbag!"

Rick O'Shay - I've been waiting for AR/Kin to appear as a proliferated powerset since I came up with this name, but It's never happened , so if someone else wants it - it's all yours!
  10. As I was running into Atlas Park City Hall last night the activist outside said something that made me do a double take.

Now, my mind may be playing tricks on me, but am I right that the activist often gives clues about upcoming st00f? If so then GG may be happy to see what I saw last night...

"The Tailor needs a salon! Come on, people! Who doesn't need stripey hair?

So, do we think that we're going to be able to wash all the hair gel from our characters' hair soon?

If so - I hope we'll be able to keep the styles that we currently have too, as I'm not a big fan of animated hair. (But I understand there are those that are fans )

  12. QR,

There's another one, used on the forums and short for 'Quick Reply' - which will show you replying to the last poster in the thread - to explain that there's nothing personal to the person you are replying to in a possibly contentious post.

Oh, and rwwwwwwwsssssssaaaaa F1 F1 F7 gah! - which is short for, whoops, I seem to have set off auto run and found myself in the middle of a group of enemies while trying to type something witty!

  14. Thanks to everyone playing along, I hope it's helping you to smile a little (or even groan at the awfulness of the jokes!)

Now, Nibiru is a fan of Worms, and anyone who loves classic games deserves much Kudos! (Even if he did steal my joke for the day! )

    Updated manual

    There's a manual?

It's true - you learn something new everyday!
  16. Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen, Aliens, Robots, Cyborgs, Lesbian Catgirls, General Manimals, Rabbits, Smurfs and assorted others!

I've been feeling a bit of bad ju-ju recently (and so have others it seems), so I wanted to see if I could raise a little Happy-Happy Joy Joy for the weekend (yes, I too am planning to abuse the "no mods at the weekend" thing.

I've learned my lesson from last weekend though and will not be trying any sort of irony, sarcasm or other non obvious humour!

So, here's the premise... it's a 2 prong attack (and I think they've both been done before, unfortunately I can't find my ar...mpit with both hands, never mind a thread on the forum!)

Firstly, try to say something NICE (not a backhanded compliment, genuinely nice!) about the person who posted before you, then follow it with a joke.

    Easy, see!

Now, as I'm the first person to post I'm going to choose the last person who I've seen posting in General Discussion...

    That'd be Lionsbane (this post)

So, Lionsbane is a very passionate supporter of CoX. He really cares about what is happening to the game, and isn't afraid to say so. (To sum up, Passionate and Brave!)

    And the joke?

    What's brown and sticky?

  18. Sindrone,

I think that the up and downshot of the other posters is that they don't feel that this is a suitable question for the forums.

You mentioned that you don't have any friends in the game, I'd suggest maybe looking for teams before i13 comes out and seeing if you can make a friend or two who may be able to help you.

And to answer your question directly - I really don't think you'd want me to help, it took me 41 months to unlock my PB! But there's always the consolation that it was worth it and I would definitely say stick with it!

  19. Tuarus and The_Phantoms

I'm sorry if I upset you with this thread.

My point to posting (which I do rarely, and only when I feel I really have something to say) was to try to spread a little of the optimism and Happy Happy Joy Joy that I'm feeling. I can assure you that it wasn't posted to wind anyone up, but to try to see if I could help people to , or maybe even , or - heaven forfend .

Thanks for all the Conga Rats everyone, Altaholisim really does need some sort of treatment and I think that the Devs should start something...

Hope you all have as fantastically fun a weekend as I am, and that all your IO drops are purple (or Universal Travel because the Devs press the wrong button!)

    Luv 'n' Hugz 'n' st00f

  20. Oh Noes!

I've logged in 4 times this weekend onto Defiant and I've found great teams each time!

This is a time between issues when the servers are usually quieter, and of course with i13 on Test there must be a lot of people over there.

Therefore I must conclude that the Doom threads are Doooomed, and the Devs hate the doomsayers, and Defiant isn't dying!

Seriously, I just wanted to say that I'm having a great, fun weekend and of course the fact that I've just got my PB and WS kinda helps! (Yes, 41 months and I finally get a level 50 hero!)

So remember kiddies - CoX isn't dying, and neither's Defiant. It's a great game and I love it!

A well run race, followed by a great cossie comp with some high standards of entries!

A huuuuge thank you to Mothers_Love for organising such a great event, you deserve kudos by the bucketload.

I've updated the wiki page and I think I've got everyone in there. If I've missed you off please feel free to drop me a PM (or add yourself if you'd rather - it is a wiki!)

Happy Samhein/Halloween all you CoXers out there!
