  1. the files are text files
so in theory you can look at the boss in your mission file and see if it has the cape there. If not you may be able to copy and paste it from the other file
  2. [ QUOTE ]
One of the bosses in my arc says '...I made a pome!' after he accidentally rhymes some of his lines. Everyone notices it and informs me of my typo.

Except its not a typo, its a ridiculously obscure reference to the Molesworth books.

I really should just take it out, but it makes me laugh.

    Eco.

    [/ QUOTE ]

that makes me think (which is a good thing sometimes)

I'll start a new thread on my new idea
  3. Exploit:
    1. To employ to the greatest possible advantage
    2. To make use of selfishly or unethically

There is nothing in the definition about it having to use a loophole, or violate the rules, or be fattening.

An exploit is by definition using something to its greatest possible advantage. An exploit becomes a problem the greatest possible advantage is too far above "normal".

That's why there was ED - 6 slotted damage was just too much better than no slotted. The devs could not balance the game for those exploiting enhancements and those not using them.

If the devs see missions of just comm officers as being too efficient and effective - they will nerf it.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Mine are mostly obscure references, like a T. Rex named Pete whose favorite dish is Cow Vindaloo.

The souvenir mentions the number 416, because that's how many pages Jurrasic Park has. I'd be floored if someone picked up on that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah, I'd be shocked if someone got that

    Serafina

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Ah, thanks. I knew she had to be in there somewhere. I really hope we get her and other such characters as a "built-in" option later on. I hate spending my precious space on yet another custom character, but it's just so appropriate that she gets a cameo in the arc I'm working on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Serafina is, technically, there. The problem is the MA now filters out anything wholly outside a faction's listed level range, so she's inaccessible: Legacy Chain cap at 30, but Serafina's level range is 45-54, so it pretends she doesn't exist.

This is also why we're missing Tub Ci and all the lowbie CoV Crey that cap at 29 (though the clones from the Silver Mantis SF cap at 30, and thus partially overlap and display).

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've seen Tub Ci in a MA mission - not sure if they just re-did him or not.
  6. In my arc people are being kidnapped. They all have names.

In mission 1 you rescue a man called David Booth - who asks if you have seen his wife Emily. In mission 3 you rescue kidnapping victims - including Emily Booth who asks if you have seen her husband.

Another victim you rescue asks about someone else - you find them later but they are dead.

And a head nurse you rescue gives a list of other nurses missing - some you prevent the kidnapping in that mission, others you rescue later, and some are never found.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I have something similar in my arc. I have 5 captives to rescue, from the random citizens mobs.

Most often I get the Tsoo Artist as a hostage about 80% of the time, the rest seem to work as I expect. I think the code for the Random Hostage generation is flawed somewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got the tsoo artist most of the time too on random, so I switched to make each separate (than I gave each of them names and stories and relationships)
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Or have the hero arrive too late to stop the full realization of a plan. The generator is already operational, the impervium has already been stolen, you end up beating up the wrong guys, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

can you do that in a mission - or do you just do that in the clue?

The devs can have the villain teleport out and escape - we can't.

I have had one boss in MA run out of a mission after being wounded.
  9. in comics the hero loses the first couple of fights with the villain. Then defeats the villain in the end - right before they can finish their plan.

in MA we can't have the player fail at all of the first missions - for one thing being beaten by the villain just means you go to the hospital and fight him again.

So how do you progress the story with the villain's plan succeeding and developing - with the hero succeeding at every mission?
  10. [ QUOTE ]
That would make about as much sense as trying to impose limits on what we write in order to satisfy a tiny group of individuals with narrow minds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are correct - if you are trying to satisfy a tiny group of individuals with narrow minds please write whatever you want.
  11. There are no surprises in MA.

This is a superhero game. If someone can fly, turn into a werewolf, freeze people in ice, comeback from the dead - it's normal.

A plot "twist" of someone turning out to be good/bad is just as likely to be a typo as intentional - and we don't really care that much.

Tell a good story - but just tell it straight. Don't try to surprise the player - you are likely just going to annoy or confuse them.
  12. I can't get anyone to leave the forest map - seems to be a bug
  13. you can't figure it out.

they are not distinct - 65 allowed floor collections may overlap entirely with the boss spots - or it may not.

    You just can't tell.
  14. as a general rule minions should use attacks with no mez or -end or healing. Give std willpower or regen as defense.

throw mezzes, healing, etc on lts.

but mezzes, -end, and -recharge generally mean it won't be feasible for sub lvl 10s (and maybe in the teens). Of course players are learning not to take on custom mobs at those levels.
  15. I want to make a poster for my arc. I need to replace one image which is too dark - but mostly I want to make it look like a poster and add text.

I have gimp but zero skills with images other than cut and paste and resize.

Should I add in borders between the pictures?
How do I get cool font to use?
How do I get the letters to stand out on the picture?

Also how do I get the image tag to work on these boards?

  16. you do need some suspension of disbelief - and just having people wander
  17. some appear under Heroes

    Penelope Yin is a hero
  18. you don't have to make 18 boss fights. it could be 18 minion or lt fights.

That I don't have a problem with - you'd have to fight 18 spawns anyway. But I don't reliably read clues - and I don't like the story to advance in the clues. I only accept advancing the story in clues when you search an object.

    Ambushes

you can create each glowie as a separate objective, with a separate ambush tied to each

you can only have 5 ambushes in a mission.

If the nav text is the same for each glowie - they will stack in the nav. I.E. if each is "computers to search" and you have 4 objectives it will say "4 computers to search".
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Is the Circle of Thorns map with the demon-summoning portals available?

I'd really like to use that one in an arc...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    yes, yes it is
  21. my boss has red electrical - not sure where I chose it from - but it comes out red
  22. [ QUOTE ]

As for vahz, they'll be right there in your mission description, so if people really hate them that much, they'll just avoid your arc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

that's the concern. My amazingly perfect arc I have published only has 23 plays. If people won't play my arc because of the vahz I'd rather do something they will play.
