Arc #92630: I Will Dance On Your Grave
    Rating: 3 stars
The short of it: Some of the custom enemies are well balanced, others are annoying, NPC text seems lackluster, a lot of outdoor maps

    Final Thoughts

Even though the dialogue isn't stellar, and it has some annoying enemies and in my opinion annoying maps, it wasn't a chore to play, and I had some genuine fun with it. It's not an arc that I would say "Go play this now", but I definitely wouldn't suggest against it either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Thanks for the review

I do agree that the constantly arriving too late is annoying - I have been trying to work on a way to keep Grave Dancer's plot going without the player failing.

I'll look at the dialog, but just based on "it seems flat" I don't know what that really means. I probably do write it too grammatically correct (without contractions and such).

The Summoner Zombies are necro/dark armor. They have one dark attack. So they shouldn't be that bad for stacking dark.

I don't know if you have said what difficulty, level and type of character you are playing. I make my arc for heroic - I assume that playing at higher level of difficulty will make it difficult and that is the player choice. If it is tough at heroic than I may need to tweak it.

I like outdoor maps - I wish some were smaller. I am not messing with maps again until at least issue 15 - I had to pull the burning forest from mission 3.

Mission 3 is all style (it was much cooler imo in the burning forest). I recognize not everyone will like it. What I really need is functioning spawn placements so I can set the ally to be near the start and the boss to be somewhere findable. I do come from AC where missions required searching and looking around - not the very simple WoW or CoX you go along a linear map and find the boss at the end.

Now when I do searches on outdoor maps I usually fly around - I don't slog through everything. Maybe I'm assuming something players do that they don't. Also it occurs to me that Sun Dancer can't fly - I'll change that.

Sun Dancer is fire/thermal. He should buff you - which is his major function. I didn't want him to be more powerful than the player. He shouldn't be doing much with his control powers.
  2. I use an ill controller with invis to check my mission

you can easily use a stalker to do the same thing.

    Helps a lot
  3. I know there is a lesbian vampire arc banned.

I assume you can get a mission file, install it on your local computer and play it in test.

So is there a black market yet for trading these ilicit story arcs?

I didnt see a list in todays patch notes. It says:

The 'chicken tug' animation is no longer selectable for critters through the Mission Architect UI

    [/ QUOTE ]

for non-custom critters, each character has its own list of animations. They don't all work with everyone.

But I went in to finish an arc and it looks like Jeer is now missing. I caught this because just last nite I set all my mobs to jeer. This morning, not there.

Anything else gone missing? Bug or intended?

    EDIT

I found jeering in ENEMY GROUP animations but it isnt an option for bosses anymore from what i can tell

  5. I had my own thread about farming locked by Mod08. It's their boards, I just play here.

It is moderation plain and simple.

You can call it censoring if you want to.

  7. I want to add my own insult to Mod08 and how I handled it in a mature and dignified manner (up to now)

he (I'm assuming, I don't know for sure) posted that Clerks 2 was a decent movie and then locked the thread.

I was outraged and immediately sent an IM protesting. We discussed Clerks 2 in IMs and that was that.

So yes, sometimes Mod08 does nearly unforgiveable things, but you can work it out with a little love, and tenderness. We'll walk upon the water, we'll rise above this mess. With a little peace, and some harmony, we'll take the world together.
We'll take em by the hand.

See I was wasted, and I was wasting time. Till I thought about your problems, I thought about your crimes. Then I stood up, and then I screamed aloud. I don't wanna be part of your problems, don't wanna be part of your crowd.

I would be interested in the OP to giving some details about how precisely "that other game" is doing better real world content than CoX and what would be his wishes.

-Is that more unique or varied landscape, for example, adding a 'Chinatown' or 'Little Italy' district (or replacing a few blander districts?). Being able to visit the Freedom Phalanx headquarters or the 'Paragon museum of heroic history' would rock.

-Is that more immersive in game events? Some points on the map have a chance of spawning an event that the player can participate in (for example, passing by a bank, you notice a robbery in progress, defeating the thugs outside and clicking in the door port you to an instance mission spawned for the occasion)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'll give you examples.

In RWZ there are forts (little round top) that get attacked. In other games there would be a quest giver who would ask you to help defend. You would have to defeat X number of enemies nearby to complete the quest.

There would be missions to go to the Sky Raiders base in Striga. There would be a whole story arc of fighting sky raiders and having to get something from the base. You wouldn't just fly by and avoid it.

Note that there is a tiny bit of that in Striga - you are sent to take out the turrets and invade Wolf's Throat of the council base.

CoX has a lot of cool stuff lying around. In other games someone tells you a story and details about them and you interact with them.

Faultline now has a story, and part of it actually has you running around in the tunnels in the far side. But for the most party you ignore actual Faultline and just do instances.

Why does Statesman even need a mask at this point? His only living relative is also a super hero, and everyone knows about the familial connection between the two. Everyone else who was in his life is either dead or also a super hero. He has no day job. He has no reason to hide his identity.

    Take off the mask, Statesman!

  10. can I hear more about this Hello Kitty Island Adventure?

I think we'll get the egg emote first
  12. well option 1 has the contact tell you that there are relics missing

option 2 the informant has been found out and you have to rescue him

both sort of have you as the contact's errand boy - but I'll pay attention to that issue

I havent heard anyone called a dork in a really long time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You gotta go old school to bypass the forum filter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, but isn't Dork an obscure Marvel superhero who appeared in 1 issue of a What If comic in 1976 and therefore trademarked?
  14. same overarching plot - just different emphasis and way of starting

mission 1: some relics are missing, go get them back.
mission 2: when you got the relics you found out something big is going on - go talk to our informant for more info

    or

mission 1: our informant says something big is going down, go talk to him and find out
mission 2: our informant says we need to retrieve some stolen relics before they are used for ....

Basically - start by saying something big is happening and a linear storyline, or stumble across a big plan while investigating something small (lvl 1-50 arc)
  15. there is an orabenga map that is very consistent (not 100%) with placement of clickies.

The "middle" places it in the back room
and the "back" places it in the middle room

but it is consistent in its placement.
  16. created the last 2 missions:
destroyed atlas park for Hellion Earth
and the power station (underground) for the final battle.

I want some more elements though - it is rather flat.

when invading another dimension, allies are nice. Rebels can die and be heroic, add pathos. So I am thinking of a Hellionderground - rebels who refused to turn into demons.
    - use the vesuvius man (sp) for their symbol
    - have a mission on the flooded map, anti-fire

For 2nd mission I want more than just find portal. Thinking of recovering artifacts. That leads me to MAGI losing artifacts - Gregor is in charge of the vault. Maybe he is selling them to the Hellions (he wants power, and dislikes Azuria, and is an outcast in MAGI). The hellion informant may be the guy he sells too.

Maybe plot is - Gregor wants artifacts recovered, sends you to get them, then find out something big is going on - he sends you to informant? But nothing kicks off his change of heart?

additional detail for hellionderground - hellion informant should mention his friend who was taken and didn't want to go - can encounter him later with the rebels.
  17. jeering gone?

That's bad because I used that one a bunch
  18. so far I have only spent tickets to unlock more maps and such for MA.

I haven't spent any for enhancements or anything. I pay no attention to tickets.
  19. Freaks are known for being worth extra xp and being easy

if you are building a challenge - freaks are probably not what you are going to choose

    try arachnos, longbow, or CoT
  20. I really wish we had open world content in CoX.

the zones are richly detailed for us to ignore as we head to our door mission.
  21. they should expand the normal groups for more levels

I don't pay close attention to if I am exemping - but given that I have thousands of arcs to choose from, any issue with an arc and I skip it.
  22. I'm wondering if people are interested in playing in the grey area between heroes and villains - really going rogue.

or do you just want to play an AT from the other side?

I don't care about the rogue part. I just want to play stalkers and masterminds hero side.
  23. someone played my arc and mentioned that I could use my arc title as the title of each mission and the mission title as the subtitle. I liked the idea so I did it.

anyone doing anything interesting with title, subtitle?
  24. created first 2 missions.
2nd mission has a problem - in the burning office the portal spawned near the front, on the first floor. Map may not work
