  1. I want to do an arc with Hellions that have been turned into demons/devils.

I need character designs that look like they are/were Hellions - but demonic. I can do several, so I can have slightly modified ones up to very modified ones (and bosses).

How horrific can you make the Hellions look?
  2. You are part of an ancient Norse epic.

The Jotnar are threatening to invade and bring about the day of Ragnarok. Odin needs your help to answer 3 riddles of the Dvergar and retrieve Thor's lost belt and gauntlets. Hopefully Odin will find Thor in time, as someone must top the Jotnar.

SFMA - 3 riddle missions (short), 1 longer final mission.
  3. remove the one that you want to redo the most

there most be editing you want to do, that sort of thing.

or sign up for another account

It would be really cool if the contact was in a separate area that you could select the appearance of (the same way you select the contact or the map for a mission). It wouldn't need to be a big area, just enough to give you the flavor of the arc and keep up the suspension of disbelief.

It would probably require a separate zone or instance. But only for the initial load; if you exit to it between missions it would probably be a WHOLE lot faster than exiting to the AE building when it has dozens of people standing around. This could be one way of drastically decreasing the lag around the AE buildings while adding a great story-based feature at the same time.

What would be really cool is if that instance was like a base, in that you could completely control its appearance. The only requirement on it would be to have an exit point (like the base exit to go back to AE), and something to click to start the mission.

I'd be happy with a separate room where you could determine the wall color. The big room is just lame for rping.
  5. would you accept this for the story, or hate it due to "reality"?

in mission 2 you are told that you are transported to dimension X.

in the briefing for mission 3 you are still trapped in dimension X - mission 3 is your escape.

So you are in the AE building and can wander around freely - but the story says you are trapped somewhere else.

Will you buy it for the sake of the story, or would it feel to fake?
  6. have you made the hellions?

I'd love to see your take on mutated hellions
  7. dark magic superadyne sounds interesting

    why hellions and not skulls?
  8. I decided there wasn't really a hook. It talked about being epic but felt blah. I took time off and made a Norse arc.

I just came up with a new idea that I really like.

    contact is a radio
Mission 1: --zzzkdsz- Arachnos Base being overrun. If anyone can help us, anyone - come, save us. -zxd-dsv-sad
Zuul, all will die <transmission ends>

On fire Arachnos base. Overrun by demons (that look like hellions)

    Mission 2: destroyed atlas park
objective is to find a working radio. Place is overrun by demons.

Mission 3: transmission - if there are any humans left, or nearly human - this is the Human Defense League. We have secured a Portal Corp facility and have opened a portal to a safe dimension. The Hellions are coming. We cannot hold out long.

Portal Corp building. Being invaded by demons. Resistance band is trying to hold out. Find portal device and portal out.

You arrive on an alternate Earth, which has not been overrun

Mission 4: radio broadcast from a Hellion trying to escape the group. He has found out they plan on destroying the world. Same name as the resistance leader on the other Earth.

    Map - Mercy Dock

Mission 5: Broadcast from Rogue Island power company. Being invaded by Hellions.

Hellions are attempting to break out Bat'Zul - this is what let them overrun the other world. You must go into Energy Company map and stop them. You can save this world - the other one is lost.
  9. see, if the devs only allowed everyone to play one character this wouldn't be an issue.

*Dies Laughing* Nothing like good sarcasm.

All irony aside, though, the tendency of people in this game to have over a dozen characters (and sometimes far more than that) in many different guilds, adn even across many different servers has always beena baffling aberation to me, though I speculate it may have something to do with the near-total lack of end-game content and the famous customizability of character appearence. I can't imagine trying tokeep up wiht more than one or two characters at a time, myself, but to each their own.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I prefer the lvl 6-30ish game. I have gotten 1 character to 50 and deleted all of the others once they hit the 30's. I just don't like the game at that level - too many powers, too many enhancements.

Lvl 6-30 you have options but not godlike powers. It takes more skill I think at those levels - more thought. You don't have powers to save you if you screw up.
  11. $heshe for he or she
    $hisher for his or her

it is lowercase - I don't know of a way to make it uppercase

actually this is a satire of anti-powerleveling. How some players selfishness is hurting the game, how you can't have fun powerleveling, how there is one proper way of playing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Darn. It was pretty good as a practical joke post. As a satire of anti-powerleveling, it doesn't work at all.

I mean, it works as a satire of anti-powerleveling about as much as it works as a satire of Champions Online. There's just nothing there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not intended as an argument against anti-powerleveling. It's not a thesis.

It's just based on anti-powerleveling posts. I'm fine if it doesn't read like that - these things tend to take on a life of their own as I'm writing them.
  13. many people want more than 3 slots - but once they allow it they can't go back.

they really need to see how the use shakes out. I would assume that most players lose interest in making arcs. Maybe they will decide we can publish more.

I'm suspecting they will let us buy more slots, like buying more character slots.

Great satire, but... what exactly are you satirizing? I must have missed the uproar about multiple characters per account that inspired this...

...But fails miserable at making a point. Having multiple characters in no way even vaguely relates to that which you're trying ot make fun of. Anyone who has watched Monty Python, a Peter Sellers movie, Back to the Future II, or any number of other television shows or movies is very well familiar with an actor (a role-player in the literal sense) portraying more than one character in a story. The ability for avatars to have a wide variation of physical appearances and the ability to portray each one differently makes games such as City of Heroes particularly suitable for role-playing.

In fact, the ability to portray different characters and sell it is the mark of a brilliant role-player, a skill to be admired. It's the people who play every single character exactly the same that tend to be less desirable to play with.

That's why the suggestion that everyone have just one character really comes off just as asinine to the role-players in the game as it does the non-role-players. As pointed out, if this "satire" is attacking anything, it's people who are anti-alt, not anti-power-leveling. In fact, since most power-levelers use one or two characters to rake in the stuff they want, if anything, one could read this "satire" as anti-power-leveling itself.

But really, to me, it just comes off as silly.

Oh, and P.S., I don't think that anyone has ever claimed that there's "one proper way of playing." This is an absurd claim that every anti-power-leveler knows is BS, a strawman used to try to sway the ignorant. Anyone who says that pretty much loses all credibility in my book, because it says to me that they have no interest in having a reasonable discussion about the topic.

If you're going to attack a claim, attack the correct claim, which is that although there is no single "proper" way of playing, there are wrong ways of playing, ways that are detrimental to the fun of others and the long-term success of the game.

I am glad you read it to mean what you want it to mean.

I suspect that demonstrates great open mindedness on your part.
  15. I try to arrange the mission debriefing as ascii porn so that only the mission leader gets to see it.

Just my way of trying to reward people who serve as team leaders.

Well, you could make a normal group of Jotun minions, lieuts, and bosses, then create another group called "Jotun Champions" which just includes the lieuts and bosses from the first group. Have the object surrounded by Jotun Champions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't want any Jotunn minions. Jotunn are supposed to be extremely tough. In theory each should be tougher than the player - but that doesn't make for a good mission.

So I made them lt's - so every Jotunn feels tough.

If I add in bosses, then it will be a mixed group of bosses and lt's - which seems too tough.

Of course I play on heroic so I wouldn't see bosses.
  18. you can't force the player to attack the escort.
