I just started doing tip missions. I love that you choose between two missions based on your values. And at the end of the mission it reminds you of the part you didn't do - the bad guy is still out there, even though you rescued the captive.
So now I am eagerly awaiting the next step - branching arcs.
You have to stop X from doing Y. Do you go vigilante and just go after him, or go through the side missions to stop his plans before you go after him.
Maybe an optional mission is rescuing hero Z, and if you rescue them they appear to aid you in the final mission against X.
The devs are very creative, and the content has gotten a lot better in terms of stories. And the tech has gotten better. I am eager to see them push this to the next level. -
No buying in stores, just what you find in drops?
With the DFB dropping SO's for your origin it seems fairly doable although not ideal. -
just made my first one, going to be a Crab
Operative Octopus
I'm not really a crab spider, I'm an octopus -
given that incendiary does extra damage and the other 2 give different secondary effects, I don't see why incendiary should not always do the most damage - that is literally what it is for. use cold if you want to slow your foes, not for more damage
and I love the animations, it is why I am playing the set - and I thought I would hate the animations.
I am playing dual pistols on a corruptor, maybe it is better for them. -
agreed with the OP
The worst was a mission to defeat the Clockwork King, and after we defeated him we had to hunt down a minion that was hiding in the warehouse to complete the mission (the mission may have changed by now).
it was so anticlimactic and frustrating
the striga defeat all robots in the warehouse - where almost all are wandering patrols is particularly annoying -
Quote:I do make teams.Eh. I've found the "old school" method of team recruiting to be pretty effective. Y'know, opening up the Team window, clicking "Find Member" and sending a few tells out to random people. More often than not, I find players who are grateful to have a team because they wanted to do something but didn't necessarily have time for a TF or Trial.
But try at level 15 to get a bunch of people to leave Steel and come to Faultline or the Hollows to run missions - it can be done, but it is hard. And if someone leaves your Faultline mission, you cannot easily broadcast in Steel for replacements.
Forming a team in Steel or Talos to run missions there is easy - but the good content is not in Steel or Talos. -
is to make all TF's and "special" arcs be in LFG somehow
DFB is easy to join
Synapse not so easy. Faultline arc is much, much harder than that.
While I like the LFG for DFB, the ease of joining that sucks players in and makes it that much harder to get players for other things.
I love CoH, but most importantly I love to team. And radio missions get old, even teaming.
Being able to easily join a team doing Croatoa, Striga, Sister Psyche, etc would the icing on the cake. -
I left a year or so ago.
I could not play the AT's I wanted (corr, dom, mm, brute) heroside and I did not want to play a villain
Teaming was hard to find generally, it seemed everyone was a level 50 in PI
I had to buy stamina
Low level travel was a pain
I am very happy with the new CoH. -
I will see if I notice that as an issue - so far I have not. When Hasten is up I can hit domination right after. But that was just one mission.
-
I respec'd
dropped psychic scream - it mostly led to me getting killed on teams (I will get it again later)
picked up Hasten so I can get Dom back sooner
switched the end reduction to my attacks and ice block
I was able to run all 3 leadership and arctic air (2 slotted for End Red) and run through my attacks - I would slowly run out of END but Dom would refill it.
All in all it worked well - thanks for the advice -
Quote:ThanksOkay, saw this after my last response. Attacks use up FAR more end than toggles. Toggles just keep you from gaining it back, mostly. If your attacks aren't slotted for Endurance Reduction, then you're going to run into trouble, which is compounded by having any expensive toggles on.
For instance, let's look at Psi Dart, which is a pretty cheap attack. At only 4.37 Endurance on a 4.33 second cycle, it's still using up slightly over 1 endurance per second. Mind Probe will average out to 0.912 end/second, and Mind Probe will burn through 0.88 end/second if spammed. Let's say you do nothing but alternate between those three attacks. With no EndRed slotting, you'll be plowing through 2.792 end/sec in attacks, and (with your average toggle load), 1.075 end/second from toggles.
So basically, for an Ice/Psi build, put EndRed first in Arctic Air, and then in your attacks. That'll give you the most bang for your buck.
I have plenty of vet respecs, so I'll try it and see how it goes -
But I don't run all of those toggles
solo I am running tactics, using block of ice, and my attacks - and I am running out of END
now block of ice and my attacks have no END reduction - so I can put some in there
I am also wondering about switching from ice/psi to mind/psi and just avoiding arctic air altogether -
I have stamina 3 slotted with end mod
I have arctic air slotted with 1 end red
I have assault, tactics, and maneuvers slotted with 1 end red
Even without using arctic air and just using tactics I go through END like nothing. A couple of fights vs even level spawns and my end is at the bottom.
Is this because Dom's are expected to recharge with domination?
Is this because /psi is expected to use Drain Psyche to keep their END up? (I have it, but rarely can use it on more than 2 foes)
Do I just need to add End Red to my attacks?
how many end red should I put in arctic air so I can use it and do other things? -
Quote:That's how I feel about all content about level 35, MM's, Brutes, Stalkers, the whole Redside, Badges, Accolades, Beam Rifle, etcI file this whole concept into the "well... if it makes money for the game, I'm ok with it" catagory. I do, however, find myself using this logic an awful lot lately.
I bet 80% of the game is of no interest to me. But I bet it is of interest to someone who pays to play. -
I decided to switch him to a scrapper and focus on the damage - plus getting the aoe mace attacks sooner
-
I turned it off when I came back since I didn't need help and didn't know enough to help others.
Started a new character and discovered the help chat is basically the LFG for the game now. Lots of chatter and spam of course, but it was amazing how active the teaming was compared to just what is in broadcast -

Got to level 23.
No heal, non-persistent status resistance, and really slow attacks with no aoe
I don't think I can stand it long enough to actually get AOE with the war mace, and without it and the slow attacks the shield damage bonus is just a waste. I'm not tough and do very little damage.
Anyone enjoying a shield/war mace? And at what level did it become fun? -
I want store coins for some costume parts. It would be great if I could pre-pay for next month VIP and get next month's coins now. I would gladly prepay for some months to get a bunch of coins early.

the vahz boss badge is hard to get with a lot of players
4 or 5 go for the badge, 6+ it just isn't going to happen. Too many minions beating on people and the AV takes awhile to go down. -
for items that allow it, mesh on tops and others makes great chainmail
You can do a bulky or whatever it's called top, with mesh to make a chainmail top. Same for legs. No mesh hat, so you need a medieval helm, gauntlets, and boots. -
Quote:only drunks liked Christmas until a group of merchants got together with the idea of getting people to dedicate a holiday to consumption. They did large promotions aimed at getting people to spend lots of money at Christmas. This was a big success.Puritans just didn't know how to have a good time - they didn't even like Christmas
Christmas has not been a religious holiday since the Romans had Saturnalia. The important Christian holiday was always Easter. -
I may be able to join one of these, I am certainly going to check out these AE missions.
I haven't done AE since I rejoined (the arc in my sig is probably totally broken). Good to know people still make/play AE missions for fun and not just farming -
Having played very little regen, my humble suggestion:
1. Make fast healing have a +hit point in it like High Pain Tolerance. That will benefit all of the other regen as well as giving padding.
2. swap Reconstruction and Dull Pain (so you can get Dull Pain at level 1).
You have more hit points. You use Dull Pain for additional padding to take the alpha. Then you steal underwear. -
ignore enhancements and everything else in the world - pretend there are just 2 resistance powers, one at 60% and one at 30%.
To balance these for power selection you make the 60% one cost END, so you choose 60% costing END or 30% auto. In theory, this makes you choose when you make your character which one you want. In practice you take both and it is a moot point.
For play, you want the reverse. The way resistance works, 60% reduces damage you take by 60%. Stacking an additional 30% reduces the damage you take by 75%. With 60% res you take 40 out of 100 dmg, with 90% res you take only 10.
Now 60% res is enough to solo and even tank on small teams, 30% really is not.
So if 60% is auto, you can choose to run just on that or to pay END to get 90% res.
If on the other hand 30% is auto it is not practical to just run on that and you always pay the END to get 90%.
So to sum up:
With 2 res powers 60% costs END, 30% auto, characters will always take both and always have both on.
With 2 res powers 60% auto, 30% costs end, characters will always take both but sometimes have just one on and sometimes both.
One basically removes all meaningful decisions, the other at least give you a meaningful decision during play.
Ideally I would set this up with 3 res powers: 60% auto, 20% costs END, 10% costs even more end. Then you could choose to take 40% dmg for free, 20% dmg costing end, or 10% for a lot of end. You would really be able to make meaningful decisions during play about END cost vs resistance.
