There are at least 5 areas to consider
1. Solo
2. Small team (2-4)
3. Large team (5-8)
4. League
5. PvP -
were they in the whole mission or just one spawn?

Imagine Portal Corp opens a portal to a dimension where Earth has been stripped of its resources and is a hellish toxic wasteland. But in that dimension they found a rift in time, allowing them to go back 65 million years to plant a colony of humans among the dinosaurs. Led by a tough military guy (imagine the guy from Avatar) they have to fight against not only the dinosaurs but evil people who want to despoil the past as well.

how much is a controller?
If you subscribe you get 400 pts per month in addition to your VIP status
so you could subscribe for a month and try out VIP, if you don't like the extra stuff you still are earning points towards unlocking controller -
I have a panther. He has beast run.
Then he turns on super speed and runs upright.
I don't expect beast run to provide a super speed version, but it would be great if beast run let you set a stance so that you remained crouched when standing, ran on all fours even using super speed, etc
Ninja run could probably use the same thing, but it isn't as obvious as switching from running on all 4's to upright -
I thought you were noticing the pattern that the devs only make powersets that start with "st" except for "titan weapons" which starts with a "t" which is close.
I am sure that further analysis of these 3 isolated data points will come up with more patterns of DOOM! -
I'd rather have more variety than remove tilesets
some caves are hard to navigate - that's the point
some foes are tough to defeat as well -
Players go to a zone because other players are there. That means there will be only one busy zone for each level area.
Atlas, Steel, Talos, and PI - Bricks and FF seem to be skipped
If you make the Hollows popular, it will make Steel a ghost town.
So you have 3 options
- make zones have a smaller level range so there is a point to each zone.
- make the extra zones be good soloing zones with storylines
- force people to go to the zones by making badges or unlocks that require playing in the zone -
I've done a couple in teams and gotten no story out of it. So I decided to solo it so I could see the story.
Between the wall of text contact comments, lots of dialog in game, and presumably clues - I seem to be missing half the story.
I get back to the contact and he talks about stuff I've found or plot twists that I didn't know had happened.
I appreciate the attempt to tell a story and add details, but it just seems too much. -
I have the bird head. I can make bird feet.
For my jaguar I have animal fur for the chest and legs, but no feathers for them. And I don't want the Valkyrie feathered armor (okay, if I could get the Valkyrie skirt and the monstrous bird legs I would go for that).
I am trying animal fur with scales which isn't terrible but is not great. -
changing a set so that an unneeded power becomes a needed power is looked upon as a nerf by most players
as devs you have limited bad choices with bad powers in a set:
you can make them better and make the set better overall - bad if the set is already balanced
or you can rework the set to make the power better but nerf something else in the set - players do not like this
I'm not saying your idea is bad, but any change has to make a big improvement simply to be worth overcoming the automatic negative "it's a change" that the players have -
Illusion controller - the phantom army are spirits
can you do ill/dark yet? -
Quote:Actually, what you said was "Any chance of superhero stuff being added to the game?"Now, if you read carefully, nowhere did anyone say that the game should exclusively represent the four-color spandex-wearing superhero. That is an imagined bit of hyperbole invented by those who merely want an easy argument to shoot down.
What I am actually saying is that all those "other" elements should not become more commonplace than in the source material if a proper sense of genre identity is to be preserved.
"But yeah. Anime...yawn. Mythology...yawn. Tron...yawn. Traditional MMO styles...yawn. Fedoras...yawn. Let's get some superhero ish up in this bish!"
So, you did actually exclude Mythology and Fedoras from being superhero ish.
I understand that to get replies on a thread it helps to make a pointed title and adopt an aggressive stance so that people care enough to reply. But own up to what you wrote.
I think most people get what you mean, but others are going by what you posted. -
Assume the whole game exists. So characters you level up can then play the rest of the game.
But imagine just playing DFB - on one character, multiple characters. You can try every AT and powerset, every costume you ever wanted. But just in DFB.
I really like DFB in that I like getting a team quickly, jumping into content, and little downtime. I also like lower levels (below 32) and usually delete characters that get to high. But 2-6 is very low levels.
I imagine a couple of DFB a night would get a character to level 10ish - the max that is usable in DFB. 10ish AT's. I suspect most powersets do not play all that differently level 2-6, so maybe triple that for 30 different AT/powerset experiences. So max about a month of playing for an hour or two each day. But that's max.
I might have fun for 2 weeks. -
Quote:You would think that tutorials would be to teach you how to play the game, but in fact most players see tutorials as an obstacle to playing the game.I actually prefer Praetoria to having to endure what they've done to the starting zones of Atlas and Mercy, not to mention the "We've made the tutorial even easier, you only have to kill 2 Shivans now!" Cripes, I mean, easier? Even an inanimate object could do the tutorial now. I learnt more from killing Infected and breaking out of the Zig.
so you need to provide the shortest possible tutorial so that people can play the game but not be driven off by being taught something.
the tutorial is probably the hardest thing to make for a game. -
Given parallel dimensions, Tyrant realizes that if Statesman is dead the universe will kill him off as well to maintain balance
to prevent that Tyrant aids the heroes in bringing Statesman back to life.
Villains are expect to help just because, the devs could not think of any motivation for them. -
okay, given that I never expect to get above or even to level 40 and will never use IO sets or see incarnate - which is better for a teaming scrapper type?
-
I like stalkers but I like to team and found them not very useful on a team.
Having a crab, I find my buffs on a team are so good as an SoA that I barely need to do anything else to contribute.
So I figure I'll try an SoA with stealth and crits from stealth for the stalker style but more teaming effectiveness.
Night Widow seems to provide the stealth and crits plus melee aoe and survivability on top of the SoA team buffs. It seems perfect for what I want.
What does a Bane bring that a NW doesn't? Is it some better ranged attacks to mix in? From what I've read they both seem to be stealth, melee, crit roles. -
Make tier 9's have a tiny buff +1 Def or +2 Res (unenhanced) but then allow them to break the cap limits (including soft cap def).
So for a very brief period (maybe 10 seconds) you have only a 3% chance to be hit or a Res of 95%. Good for alphas, but nothing like perma -
two things on buffs:
buffs stack rather than being multiplicative (i.e. 50% res + 50% res is 100% res instead of 75% res). This makes buffs impossible to balance. A 5% def buff is very weak, but 8 players giving it out makes a 40% buff which is almost game breaking.
allowing all AT's to get 45% Def buff. They limited Res but not Def, so any character can tank with the right buffs and IO's. -
300 die
The lone survivor was "allowed" to charge the Persians by himself in the follow up battle of Plataea to make up for his disgrace in surviving Thermopylae, where he was killed.
This is the final scene of the movie (he is the one with the eye patch)
Aristodemus: the lone Spartan survivor of the slaughter of the 300 at the Battle of Thermopylae, he had, with a fellow Spartiate, been dismissed from the army by Leonidas I because of an eye infection. However, his colleague had insisted on being led into battle, partially blind, by a helot. Preferring to return to Sparta, Aristodemus was branded a coward, and suffered a year of reproach before Plataea. Anxious to redeem his name, he charged the Persian lines by himself, killing in a savage fury before being killed. Although the Spartans agreed that he had redeemed himself, they awarded him no special honour, because he failed to fight in the disciplined manner expected of a Spartan
