a dominator with containment instead of domination
definitely psi, maybe fire
Easy to set up containment - even on AV's with sleep
then hit for massive damage with your assault set
probably earth for assault set - want that hit with containment to be massive -
I find the game incredibly dull after around 30-40ish
characters have powers for everything and they are overpowered. Teams just steamroll everything in their path. It's just tedious more than fun.
When my dom can drop 3 aoe controls each fight, instead of conserving his powers for the right moment - it's just stupid to me.
And when the team moves up to a spawn, there is a flash of a couple of big powers and the whole spawn goes down - it's just stupid to me. It is fun getting those powers and getting close to that, but the third spawn that happens to it has gotten old.
I never farm. My interest is not in being powerful. It is not in designing my characters (I only plan if I have to respec, and only up to the respec and usually the plan does not factor in slotting). I play to have fun playing. I find the decisions made in the moment to be what is fun. -
to figure out what I'd actually use these for
the puffy coat without sleeves might work well for SWAT body armor - I use a different coat right now but it is not really right for it
and the pants tied at the ankle look perfect for a scarecrow character -
"There are two versions of the female hat, one where you can color the red and the gold, while the hair stays black, and one where the gold stays, but the red and the hair are tintable."
This is exactly the sort of optional version we want. Glad to see you are listening -
Quote:I used to do AE a lot, but I found that even 5 start missions were farms and girls in bunny or cat costumes. The Mission Architect is the bridge to your imagination!
Cue "have cake and eat it" style response in 3... 2... 1...
I will do it more, but it requires research on the forums to find good arcs. -
the thing is you can street sweep all you want without missions
if people are choosing to do missions it basically means they want to do door missions
I hate the choice of "do you want to do A or B, you said B okay do A" -
The problem with itrials is that you are simply supposed to like them, but players don't. They are raids. Raids appeal to a very small part of the playerbase, like pvp. But those who like them are very vocal and claim that they are really popular and any real game has them. So the devs put them in, and they paid people to do the raids by making them the way to get new powers.
They may as well have made incarnate powers only earned by pvping. Either way you are forcing a lot of players to do something they don't want to in order to get the pellet at the end.
What is worse, is that the devs have become attached to the raids - probably due to the amount of effort they have put into them. So now they are forcing you to play the ones you especially don't like to get your pellet.
CoX is becoming a game that they bribe you to play (weekly TF's) rather than a game that you play because it is fun. -
I would like to see the old arcs all cleaned up first simply by
1. making all missions spawn in the same zone as the contact
2. eliminate all street sweeping missions (defeat 10 CoT in KR, etc)
leave us with just the door missions and avoid the running - they might not be great, but the experience would be vastly better at what should be very little dev effort per arc -
I almost always play with the sound off and no music - because others are in the room.
Also I have never heard of any of those songs and the only band I've heard of in the list is Linkin Park. -
I'm not up to tier 9 unfortunately
and the power packs have some great looking rocks as well - but I don't have those -
now if you just switch wormhole and dimension shift in the power order the set would be great
-
Played with some more level 50 teams. The game is a joke at that level.
I guess I will just have to not play with incarnates so the game has some challenge.
I don't mind that the game has incarnates. Just like I don't mind the game having farms - if people want to pay the devs and support the game while avoiding a challenge that's their choice. I find it boring, but I assume they find how I play boring. -
the problem with gravity is simple - it was created to give controllers more attacks which they generally lack. That is not a problem that dominators have.
really this set would be made much better simply by changing the power order
Crush as a level 1 choice swapped with Lift
Wormhole swapped with Dimension Shift for your frequently available AoE control
Ideas to make the set actually better
Propel - make AoE or cone, reduced damage. The control in it is knockback, many people may not like knockback but it works. A frequently available cone knockback would be good control for the set. For more fun give this "impact" for doms - so it does more damage if the target is held/immobilized like containment does for controllers. That way this is either a control power if you need it, or a damage power if the target is controlled.
Dimension Shift - I'd really like to see this as an AoE Lift. Throw a bunch of foes in the air and drop them. It fits the thematics much more. -
I used to play controllers (I still think they are the most fun in a team since they can hold the enemy or heal allies, any situation they have an immediate impact) but I hated soloing them. Doms seemed the solution to my desire for control and solo. Bu at low levels they have always been painful.
I'm not sure what happened with my earth/earth dom. I don't have permadom, in fact I rarely use domination soloing (I don't play with bosses). I just find that I can easily handle soloing (only +0/x1 but am thinking of upping it) and I like the active nature of my control rather than just being safe by putting on my tanker defenses.
I have an earth/earth and an ice/psi and am soon going to roll up a plant/thorn. I suspect with seeds of confusion, the plant/thorn will solo well from early levels and always be fun. -
Are you playing +0/x1?
I haven't played fire/ice but I've been playing ice/psi and earth/earth and have found general advice for leveling doms.
3 minion spawn:
* you want to drop an aoe hard control which will have short duration but let you avoid an alpha - for fire that is flashfire. It has an inherent recharge of 90 seconds, you want to shorten that as much as possible.
* you should next use your single target hold.
* as a dom you should be able to take out one minion with a cycle of your attack powers, do that (you can't at the lowest levels but should be able to in teens and higher)
* use single target hold on third mob when it recharges
Lt & minion spawn:
* hold the lt with your single target hold
* cycle your attacks to take out the minion
* do not waste your aoe on the spawn
You probably won't have your flashfire up every fight. But you can use bonfire or cinders when those are up and flashfire is not.
Solo, your best control is your single target hold. You want that to have max recharge and hold duration - don't worry about damage, you have plenty of attacks.
With fire you also have smoke. Even with spawns of 3 you will probably find that not all aggro - especially ones that are facing the other way. You may find that you can take on some spawns of 3 as if they were a spawn of 2 and a spawn of 1 nearby. -
I know people have been doing speed TF's for as long as they can - but this was different.
In low level content someone might be able to stealth to the end of a mission, find a safe place and teleport the team, then attack the boss. But in this solo characters simply ignored the enemies they ran past and soloed a crystal while all of the surrounding enemies attacked them, ignored the enemies and ran to the next crystal. The enemies simply were not a challenge or a threat.
At the end of the ITF to get the 300 kills they flew to the towers and used ion judgement to simply wipe out hundreds of foes (presumably multiple ion judgement, but I don't know). Wiping out 300 ITF took maybe 1 minute.
There is a difference between doing at TF as fast as you can - which I am fine with - and the TF not presenting a challenge except how fast you can run or fly. -
I just did the ITF for the first time in years. It was simply stupid.
Every character simply ignored the foes and ran through the missions past them, taking out only the ones they needed to. There was no challenge to it. 90% of the foes may as well not have been there.
Is the rest of the high level this stupid now? -
There is a difference between the game being designed with inspirations in mind and the game being balanced by using inspirations, especially masses of them.
I have never seen a dev say that you should be able to solo at +0/1 by buying a tray full of inspirations.
Using 3 inspirations in a tough fight is fine. Needing to use 3 inspirations to defeat a foe is not fine. Needing to use 6 inspirations to defeat a foe is ridiculous. -
if you do try Search, try 4 stars.
I find 5 stars are almost always farms or other garbage.
But really the thing to do is check out the AE board and look for arcs there. Lots of arc reviews and you can get a sense of which ones you want to try -
I agree with that. But I think that is the problem with most storyline driven stories. If you play it to find out what happens - once you know there is no point to doing it again.
Whereas action films have a storyline as a macguffin while you enjoy the action and can watch it again and again.
The missions have to be fun, not just furthering the plot. -
Quote:if it were lisp it would be (dug(from(the(arth))))I don't think anyone has even clued into his name. Is it a lisp or what?
and the second e is missing because some website would not allow an additional character way back when the internet was young and the tubes would get clogged if you had too many characters. -
all I know (and if you've read my other posts you would know I am being literal in saying this) is that I swap the nav and the target at the top of the screen (so the map pulls down on the left side instead of the middle of the screen) and for awhile it was resetting them back to default but they fixed it.
So maybe your problem has something to do with that. Or maybe not. -
If that is how you parse it, have fun.
"Paragon Market - best way to buy costume pieces or what?"
is simply a shortened version of
'Is' Paragon Market 'the' best way to buy costume pieces or what 'is'?
I then post my answer to the question.
If you are of the opinion that my answer is by definition the correct one, then I can see that there would be no need for further responses. Since you seem to be of that opinion, I thank you for your faith in my opinion. -
Quote:Simple format:Is there an actual question or discussion topic here or is this just "Yay, I like the way the market lets me test drive costume pieces"?
1. state question
2. post my answer to said question
Would it be clearer if I repeated the question after my answer?
