so your solution to redside teaming is to have villains not play redside?
why don't you just play blueside and pretend you are a villain?
  2. because 146 people had already taken the name mb Patch
  3. Here is my guide on fleshing out villain bases. Details you can add, animations for the villains, etc that make a map feel like a villain base.

  4. I have 2 redside SoA and Widow that are simply leveling so they can switch

I play blueside until I see a redside team advertised, then switch and play them.

The real solution to this is for the redside players to agree on a server to play on, the unofficial redside server. Then all move there. They would have a lot of redside players if they were all on one server
  5. yeah, I hate trying to find arcs in game. Mostly farms and then those with AV's. I won't do arcs with AV's, I regard it as lazy - trying to make it important by upping the difficulty instead of the story.

I do hope to get enough lvl 1-10 do do a thread with just those arcs - I hope to get at least 10 I can recommend.

Arc ID: 381565 Arc Name: A Favor For Liberty (The Megan Duncan Task Force)
    Level 12-15

I highly recommend this arc. The details are really good. I did not quite follow all of the story, but I think it is there. There is just so much detail to go over.

In addition to the story, dialog, etc, the main thing that stands out are using a variety of enemies in ways that make sense and truly add variety. It is not one mission of hellions, one of skulls, etc. But within a mission you encounter a variety of foes - some I did not realize you could put in.

There were a few typos I sent to the author. Hopefully they can get fixed.
mission completion 1 "presents" instead of "presence"
mission 2 officer speaks clue "vile" instead of "vial"
    mission 3 "all most" "almost"
    elmer "minuets" instead of "minutes"
  6. the difference between tech and natural btw is whether the superhero part comes from the device or skill. If you gave a normal person the same equipment would they be a superhero?

ironman is tech. Other people can put on his suit and be superpowered (not as skilled, but still superpowered). Rhodes did it back in the day (not as in trained to be Ironman, but found him drunk, put on the suit and went and fought a supervillain with no training).

hawkeye is natural. Other people given the bow and quiver would not be able to draw the bowstring let alone hit targets with the arrows.

That's why damage will not help blasters teaming. Their problem is doing too much damage so they draw aggro, without killing the stuff. So unless their opening AoE wipes out the spawn extra damage will just make it harder on them.

Blasters will only perform better in teams if they generate less aggro for their attacks
  8. yes, but a brand new ferrrari should not be considered broken because a 12 year old with no driving experience takes it out and crashes it.

Comparing a ferrari driven by a 12 year old without a license to a yugo driven by a professional will not give you an accurate measurement of the abilities of the cars, just the drivers.
  9. stalkers buffed - now top end damage, make scrappers and blasters 2nd tier
dark control for controllers/doms - top tier set beside Plants
dark assault for doms - top tier set
dark affinity for controllers - middle tier set
beast master for masterminds - low tier set

AT specific enhancements - a few AT's love them, they suck for others

Dark Astoria solo incarnate path. Much, much slower than itrials but doable and people like the content
  10. blasters have only one tide turning power - their nuke

if you really want to make it tide turning make its recharge 30 minutes and double its damage.
  11. back to the OP

I would go with dark/dark dominator. Not because it is better, but because the Life Drain in Dark Assault gives you a heal which you do not get in other Dominator sets.

So dark/dark dom is more unique among doms than dark/dark controller is unique among controllers.
  12. nice write-up

to hijack the thread a bit again - my dream with a revamped KR would be to make it not co-op but duplicated. What 94% of the players wanted with CoV was to play villains in Paragon City. KR would be a great zone to make a hero and a villain version, not as co-op but so villains could be in the city.
  13. I could not sign into the forums for months after I resubbed. I got incorrect password messages, although I could sign into my account and into the game. One day I tried and it just worked and has ever since.

of course it still won't stay signed in
  14. Mercytown #6017
    lvl 1-10 Villainous

I'm not totally satisfied with this one. Several times during missions I felt I was grinding through. But it has so many great elements I still really liked it.

    The overall story is great.
    The contact is fabulous.
    The final climax is satisfying.
Several details in the missions are very nice - you will want to read the clues.
  15. it will be interesting to see if and win blasters hit a wall

a couple of thoughts on this test:

    1. having vet powers helps the scrapper more than the blaster as the blaster starts with more attack powers so they can make an attack chain easier. I doubt it matters by level 20. It would be good to know when you stop using vet powers in your attack chain.

    2. blasters are a highly chosen AT. I bet that they are chosen a ton by new players. I have to wonder how much player skill matters here. Purely subjective, but are you finding one AT or the other easier to play in terms of thought/tactics?
  16. the real problem is if you look at high end characters the amount of +rech, +END and +def so dramatically alters the game as to make set balance absurd.

You can run attack chains on 2 or 3 powers
native def over a small amount is useless because you can get it in IO sets
END cost just isn't an issue

so you want sets that have a couple of great powers and everything else sucks, cost a lot of END, and have Res with some minor def. And you want big effect AoE powers that have a long recharge.

so sets that were perfectly good before (like SR) become a waste. And sets that were balanced before become broken (SS with footstomp).

If you are not getting IO sets the game looks very different
  17. more like:

    1. Pony - smiles at people
    2. Unicorn - pony gets a horn and can gore people
    3. pegasus - pony gets wings and doubles as a travel power

    1. teddy bear - gives hugs
    2. ray of sunshine - heals allies, does damage to undead
    3. care bear stare - 6s stun, does not work in pvp
  18. magic - I don't like it but it so easy to just say "magic" to explain a character
  19. see I'm the reverse.

When teaming I just want a fight.

But when solo I want a story. I don't want to just fight spawn after random spawn through a map to the end. I want interesting stuff inside the mission. Side missions. Interesting dialogue. A series of linked tasks that make sense. So I liked several of the individual SSA arcs because of that.

However, I don't replay story based content. I know the story. I will replay combat based content if the combat was fun. Because it is a bit different each time.
  20. Blaster: Fire/Fire - human torch

    Brute: claws/regen - wolverine

    Controller: gravity/Force Fields - Magneto/Invisible Woman

    Corruptor: ???

Defender: Empathy/Dark - Raven, the only healer I can think of in comics

    Dominator: Ice/Ice- Iceman

    Mastermind: Mercs/Traps - Nick Fury

Scrapper: Street Justice/Shield - Captain America

    Stalker: Ninja Blade/Ninjitsu - a ninja

    Tanker: Earth/Super Strength - Thing
  21. shrunk hero world

heroes are the size of mice type of thing. Everything is huge. The enemies are bugs, cats (which are giant monsters) etc.

  23. from 1-50 the best is a brute, scrappers a fairly close second.

MM's are amazing but they only really get so at higher levels. They aren't bad at lower levels but they aren't a brute

    fire/rad controllers are pretty amazing
ill/rad controllers are amazing after about 22 and really after you get epic pools for more damage
  24. ah, good to know

I mostly team so I may not care about damage much but I'll see how it goes
  25. Arc ID: 534314 Forsaken People: A Tale of Old Astoria @Sparkly Soldier
    levels 20-29

This is a really good arc with a caveat - it is a story not combat. Many missions have very little combat at all. You might go through a fairly large map and fight 3 times.

It has a very good story, and the missions have series of tasks to perform to go along with the story. It takes some looking around and I am sure it is not for everyone. But if you want a good story and something different than grinding through spawns this is one to check out.
