Quote:Good to see someone in the know, but I have actually used it twice already.
My first use was the best imho

Quote:the problem is that IO procs and sets and incarnates simply break the game. You just can't fix it. END and Recharge make DPA the only real consideration. Defense makes every character a scrapper at least - and makes defense based sets pale because you can get the defense without the powers. Judgement makes minions meaningless and overshadow almost all other AoE in the game. But then came procs (including a Chance to Hold proc).
And then came incarnate procs, which are tied to damage delivery.
And now here comes Hybrid, where you can get extra control from damage delivery powers.
The AoE immobilizes are basically blast powers now. For every set except the one that can't just spam them (and Mind and Illusion, which lack them entirely. Illusion doesn't really need it, Mind Control on Controllers is meanwhile probably worse off than even Ice at least in terms of damage).
High end play takes a complex set of balances and just throws most of it out. -

crabs are arguably the best characters in CoX. They have mezz protection, good defenses and some resistance. They have good team buffs, some debuffs, and amazing AoE.
simply put: crabs are tank mages, in theory the holy grail of characters
in the old days they were restricted to redside. But now you can get to 20 and switch to blueside.
but there are very few crabs out there on either side.
so why are you not playing a crab SoA?
And have you tried one? -
chaps
my undead cowboy had fake chaps using leather pants and pattern 2 (I think) for dark chaplike pattern on the legs.
but the real chaps make it look so much better
that's the only thing he wears from the gunslinger pack, but it really adds (technically he has the star belt but you can't see it under his vest) -
Quote:It's nice to know that my being snarky in response to your being snarky is okay with you.I'm pretty sure dechs just meant if you're not being forced to use all your tools you're not challenging yourself enough. And, I was mostly joking after 2xp of mostly farming council and I don't think choosing your enemies makes you a bad player but if you're going to be snarky about it.
Let me know how carnies, longbow, arachnos, etc etc work out for you.
Ignoring an advantage and then cherry picking what part of dechs post you would respond to ie you conveniently ignore the psi resist for example just makes you look bad. And if you start saying things like, well turning up my difficult won't add psi resist, or end drain, or fear or confuse or... then you are indeed cherry picking enemies to best suit you, the only thing wrong with it is pretending you're not. I certainly do. Unless you actually say, hmm for a good time I think I'll farm carnies tonight. In which case more power to yah.
Your mistake was in assuming I was high enough level to even face carnies. I understand that many people on the boards simply skip the low levels and think the game exists at max level. It leads to them making all sorts of foolish comments.
I did ultimately get high enough to fight a bunch of rikti - and psi did rip through the fire aura. -
Quote:There are people who only care about hard control. And like everyone else they make up their own definition of hard control.Ice Slick has no hard control outside its holds. Immobilise still lets things attack you, knockdown is easily negated, sleep is easily broken, slowing doesn't stop things from attacking at range and Arctic Air's confuse is unreliable. So if you're on a team, particularly with another Controller or Dominator, you may as well just stick to Block of Ice and Glacier because everything else is useless.
If you think arctic air is useless that just tells the quality of your opinion - useless.
The problem is that controllers need containment for damage. Ice slick does not provide containment. So they can choose to immobilize and get no protection but do containment damage, or ice slick and get protection but no containment. -
Quote:1. the comet would have passed by 20 years ago so that the mutants are adults nowThat last part would not go well for lots of RPers and non-RPers that are concept/story-driven players.
"Wait, what? My character who is currently pregnant has to give birth to a mutant?!"
"Wait, what? My character from the future who was in utero during that time has to be a mutant?!"
2. rpers who have their own storylines hate everything the game does, so there is no real point in worrying about it -
Quote:reverse discriminationThe problem with a mutant-themed story is that you can't make it about discrimination, since that no longer exists.
Aside from that I'm not sure what you could do.
I would love to see a GATTACA mutant group. They run a corporation, have their own zone. Avoid dealing with lesser humans, etc.
kidnapping and forced recruitment. A comet passes between the earth and the moon. All children in utero during that time become mutants. The group actively seeks out and recruits these mutants. They may believe they have an epic destiny. -
so is this a consensus (if not unanimous)
Really need help:
Electric Blast
Electric Assault
Energy Melee
Mercenaries
Battle Axe
Devices
Gravity Control (doms)
Poison
Could use a bit of something:
Ice Control
Force Field
Ninjas
Trick Arrow
Assault Rifle
Dual Pistol
Regen
Sonic Resonance
Spines
Blaster secondaries besides MM and Nrg -
Quote:Yes, but plant is stupidly overpowered. It is better than all of the others. So being worse than plant means nothing. In what universe do you live that Ice Control can do anything that, for example, Plant, can't?
Ice could use help. It needs to have its immobilizes not break ice slick. Other than that it is great. -

Japanimation counts if it was released in America - so Robotech anyway. But not straight anime.
Transformers, Go-Bots, Voltron, Robotech?
my favorite by far was the Mighty Orbots. Sadly it only ran 13 episodes, but it was much smarter than the normal robot shows like transformers.
Robotech: The New Generatoin and Macross are great as well. -
ironically my biggest complaint about Buffy and why I stopped watching it in the second to last season was that he would not kill of Spike. Spike was terrible on the show (he was fun when he went to Angel later). But he was so popular they would not get rid of him.
the real problem with Whedon is that everything turns out to be about the teenage girl with amazing powers who is better than all of her allies put together. -
the secret of that cat was already posted by me awhile back using my foresight

beyond roll a stalker
roll a staff/ninjitsu stalker
may as well try the new powerset as well -
I delete my characters when they get too high and remake the same ones. I have the costumes saved. But they release enough costume pieces in the couple of months between remakes that I still spend a long time fiddling with the costumes.
CoT pack was big for me because much of the stuff is so different -
it's okay, but it lacks the depth and character development of progress quest
-
1. Play a stalker
2. Do the tutorial
3. Do the Atlas arcs
4. do Death From Below
5. do Drowning in Blood
6. Sutter's Task Force -
Quote:ExactlyAs far as why it's not being fixed....well, they make money by designing and selling new sets. They don't make any money by fixing old broken ones. So it seems they're content to just pretend EM doesn't exist in the game. It's so bad that practically nobody plays it, and if nobody plays it, that means nobody complains. Problem solved, as far as they're concerned.
that's why stalkers have not gotten fixed and gravity wasn't fixed.
you really have it figured out. -
so just play a stalker with EM
you get your AS which does what you want ET to do
the only problem would be if you wanted something as powerful as the old ET on an AT that had better defenses than a stalker
