    It truly is that simple.
Are you just talking about the name "defender" vs "corruptor"? Because as has been said repeatedly the buff/debuff of defenders is not noticeably different than that of a corruptor.

There are multiple ways to engage the foe, and the significant amount of control a dom under dom can leverage more than makes up for the inconvenience of you having to walk 3 feet from mob to mob. For sure, your taunt has an aoe, so they are all focused on you anyway.
immobilizing them separated greatly reduces the effectiveness of other AoE's
there are multiple ways to engage the foe and the immobilize just ruined most of them
  3. 1st mission you can exit with Oro portal or just sit and wait

the 2nd mission is easiest done solo
you just run through, get the glowies without fighting, then clear the last room

3rd mission is tough solo, not so tough on a team usually.

I have never noticed an early mission complete in the 3rd one.
  4. What would make defenders and corruptors really different (and probably make defenders overpowered) would be to to make their single target buffs also affect them.

an empathy getting their own fortitude would totally change the set
likewise a storm getting 02 Boost
    FF getting their own bubbles
  5. I don't actually know how to make auto work
I have heard it is ctrl-power and that puts a circle around it, but the power only seems to fire once.
  6. I hear the cool kids do it

I assume you can start putting procs in at level 10 or so, but a guide would be handy to find out just what you can do
  7. immobilize sets up containment - which ice slick does not
so controllers who want to do more damage will use an aoe immobilize

also apparently people now put a bunch of damage procs and chance to hold in aoe immobilize so they actually do damage and can hold as well.
  8. ice slick is great at lower levels
it's true power is in being used from out of LoS so no one has to take an alpha

and it is ice slick vs ice patch

the problem is that the game gets easier and therefore simpler as you level. IO sets and procs, and incarnate powers make the game stupidly easy. You can throw out 90% of the game at level 50.

If you want to have a challenge, play the game up to level 35 then restart.
If you want to avoid a challenge, play at level 50+ with IO sets.

    hmm, looking at sonics numbers
15% -res for corr vs 20% for defender
and the sleep and stun last 25% longer for defender

maybe I should switch my sonic/dark to a defender
  10. you can't make The Shadow because you can't have a cape and a scarf - they are both back pieces. And new pieces won't change that.

but you can have the fedora, you can use "raider" plus scarf to be a scarf pulled around your face (or the other one which is even bigger but covers more face).

You can have a black cape which goes over the shoulders and is red on the inside.

That is just like me. That is what I play except for my sonic/dark corr which has control.
  12. Estimated Value of Points: $375,000 - $600,000

assume $15 per month. That is 40,000 months worth of subscriptions. 12 months per year, that is worth about 3,000 subscribers for a year.

Not massive, but I bet it helps
  13. if you want good, story focused arcs in AE with no EB's or AV's I am working on a list (none of them are mine). Most of them at the low levels use stock enemies. I play them with starting characters so they are all doable at that level - I note the hard ones.

I have divided them into my idea of 5-3 stars, all of which are good. The 5 stars are great.

I have a whole bunch for level 1-10

I am starting work on 11-20 and have many (most of which overlap with 1-10)
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=288465

Every player and every developer should play the 6 I have listed as 5 stars for 1-10.
  14. I too vastly prefer a simple bulleted list to watching a video.
  15. Never really popular but often much sought after for teams, I rarely see defenders now. I think they are probably the AT I see the least since the stalker fix.

The Repeat Offenders showed that blasters brought a great deal of power to a team, in a group they are unstoppable.

The old reason not to play defenders was that they were painful to solo, but the solo damage bonus fixed that.

I don't play defenders because I want instant change from my powers. I want to hold people, or draw their aggro (and survive). I know in my heart that a defender's shield is saving the team, or speed boost is making them do more damage, but it lacks the feel of being effective.

I do have one corruptor - sonic/dark. The two powersets make me a virtual controller with cone sleep, cone fear, aoe stun, single target hold. So it does not feel like a corr/defender. It was basically a toss up between corr/defender but since I play mostly low levels getting the attacks faster was appealing and I felt scourge would be better on teams and vs AVs/GM's. Again seeing scourge has a feeling of being effective that knowing defenders have better numbers in some buffs/debuffs does not.

Why aren't you playing a defender?
  16. assume that new ideas being discussed are a year out
the stuff being released was thought of a long time ago and worked on

they don't ask about ideas and then release those next
  17. I'm sure this will be abused.

creat alts, have them defeated over and over to make powersets seem dangerous

I don't want new AT's for the sake of new AT's. I don't buy new powersets for instance.

I would like new AT's that were fun to play - but that's not really saying anything.

if the game never added new AT's I would probably be fine with that.
