most of my characters have a villain group as a theoretical nemesis
Tomb Fisted Kid - the Skulls
Savage Shaman - the Banished Pantheon
Calescent Carnival - Carnival of Shadows
but in practice I just fight whatever, I don't really go after any particular group. Largely because I find fighting the same group to become boring -
my stone/stone dominator colors the stone blue/yellow and other bright colors and it is coral.
I have seen a stone/ice who was glacial something - the power of a mountain
stone/ice would be just about the toughest tank you could make (stone/dark might be tougher). if you planned on teaming it would be fine -
you might set your blaster to not have to fight bosses
-
you make a character and play them. There is a lot of content to choose from.
The question here is more why you choose the content rather than the specific content, but you can include that too.
Do you choose content because it is: fast xp, team vs solo, thematic, fun, needed to unlock something, needed to get a badge/accolade, merits, ???
---
My basic path is teaming. When I log in I want to join a team doing whatever it is doing. Which usually means radio missions or tips. I team because it is the most fun.
I do the TF's for the unlock but also because it is teaming.
I do hero tips when I cannot find a team, and sometimes do AE arcs (and post the best arcs so others can find them - see my sig). But these are fairly rare. -
If you want to play in AE, here are some arcs (not mine) to play for levels 41-50. I recommend all arcs listed below. The star rating is my own for dividing them here, I would rate all of them 4 or 5 stars in game.
Missions do not include EB's or AV's unless noted. I rate missions based on their story and the quality of the missions themselves. The story should be interesting and the missions themselves should be fun.
Feel free to post additional arcs for level 41-50 and I will try to play them and put them in the top post if I like them. I still have more to play through but I figured I would at least start the thread in case people are looking for arcs to play.
5 Star Arcs ---------
Level: 46-52, ID#: 515140, Name: The Serpent Beyond the Horizon
Has AV's with allies for you so they can be soloed. Good contact. Great story that ties in to a lot of game lore. Great maps. Great historic looking custom NPC's.
Level: 25-50, ID#:497506, Name: A Mosaic of Shattered Dreams
Perfect intro text – easy to read, fairly short, dramatic and personal. Great story. Marred by a chain of glowie clicking on 4th mission that took forever – search the end room and ignore the others.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 543322, Name: Meet the Author
Hilarious, verging on silly. The contact is perfect. The plot is great. Mission details are good. Ending is surprisingly excellent. Some missions are a little long for the detail.
4 Star Arcs ------------
Level: 1-54, ID#: 534435, Name: Hero Space Corps: The abandoned freighter
A good implementation of Alien in a single mission. The mission works well with a series of tasks that rarely require back tracking. Aliens look reasonably good. Four stars because while there is not a lot to the story, it is short and fun while it lasts.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 534498, Name: The Blonde Brawler Gets Her Cape Back
Single mission arc. Lots of details in the mission. Explanation of the story is good and motivating. Dropped to 4 stars because not a satisfying conclusion.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 94504, Name: Daytime Divas
Humorous and pretty silly. Fun and funny plot and characters. Custom villains but not hard. Some missions are a lot of fun, others are basic.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 169260, Name: Eagor to Please
Villainous. Humorous single mission arc. Story has you as the master villain. Fun characters. Custom villains but not hard, plus longbow.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 177370, Name: Relativity Be Damned
Good story. Contact is decent - personality but wall of text. Nice objectives in missions add to the story. Main problem is that it is all Arachnos you fight so it gets repetitive.
Level: 20+ (1-54), ID#: 516337, Name: Modern Art Redemption
Amusing contact and story. All custom characters. Might be more different than good, but it is fun. Officially 1-54 but has minions that mezz.
Level: 35-54, ID#: 452144 Name: Murders in the RWZ Morgue
A one mission mystery arc. Lots of time looking for clues, little time fighting. If you like that sort of thing this is 4 stars, if you don't, avoid this arc.
Level: 40-54, ID#: 524278, Name: The Astral Prison
Good plot. Good use of detail and flavor. Develops well to a satisfying ending.
3 Star Arcs --------------
Level: 20+ (1-54), ID#: 134741, Name: They HATE those boxes
Silly. One short mission. An amusing trifle for something different. Officially 1-54 but hard enemies, including minions that mezz and lt's that mezz and are mezz resistant.
Level: 20+ (1-54), ID#: 233720, Name: A Close Encounter
Better than a normal 3 star but while it had a decent story and some nice detail it just did not add up satisfactorily. Officially 1-54 but hard enemies, including minions that mezz and heal.
Level: 20-54, ID#: 1573, Name: Jabberwocky
One mission, with enough variety to make it amusing/interesting. Not much of a story. Custom characters are creative. (What did you expect a Snark to look like?) Four stars if you are a big fan of Jabberwocky.
Level: 4-54, ID#: 21391, Name: Enter the Father Hat Gang
An amusing, short one mission arc with funny characters and dialog. Not much of a plot and it just kind of ends. Apparently a parody of Azumanga Daioh (an anime show).
Level: 1-54, ID#: 440149, Name: The Trouble With Transformations
Villainous. Interesting story. Good variety of enemies and maps. The missions have some details but not a lot. Very few clues given.
Level: 1-54, ID#: 42083, Name: Arab Spring Democracy
One mission. Not much of a story but enough. Little in mission details. But it is short and the custom enemies are interesting.
Level: 30-54, ID#: 84420, Name: Death to Disco
Silly, two mission arc. First mission is fairly generic, second mission has a bunch of fun customs.
Level: 30-54, ID#: 99836, Name: Attack of the Cliches
Lots of detail. Fun custom enemies. Would be 4 stars if it had more of a story.
Level: 35-54, ID#: 386861, Name: The Ghastly Secret of Dreams
This rating is personal preference. Arc has a story, interesting contact, not much detail in missions. It is silly and confusing, deliberately so - the arc is a series of dreams. Rating would be higher if you like that sort of thing.
Level: 40-54, ID#: 110723, Name: Females for Hire
Good customs, nice costumes and good variety. Story is different but okay. First mission is best, good clues. Not a lot of in mission detail.
Level: 41-54, ID#: 128214, Name: One Shot Wonders
Single mission. Good story idea, some nice details. Fun, but not much to it. -
Quote:people doYeah, I was agreeing with you.
Just pointing out that you may as well apply the same logic to not playing any other AT vs Veats as oppsed to saying why youre just not running Khelds.
GG uses "they aren't scrappers" to answer every one of these.
If you have only one AT you like, that's perfectly reasonable. -
Quote:Why are you looking for a forum that wouldn't let you post there?I'm searching for an UNofficial CoX message forum for general discussion of CoX, comic books, superhero RPGs, and so on. It should have a general policy of non-censorship, be relatively clique-free, have an average IQ in the triple digits, and promote a state of reasonable literacy. A scattering of weeaboos. Bronies, and/or furries are acceptable (and probably inevitable), but preferably kept to a dull background roar. If you know of such a place, please send me a private message.

Quote:what about men in tightsGuys wearing princess hats is always going to be weird - to everyone
men wearing skirts (CoT)
men wearing dresses (Cimmerorans)
men with long hair
men with pierced ears
Quote:Add powdery wigs and I can roll an electric brute called Jug Fury, Electrocutioner.
I'm sorry.
but now I am considering rolling up a character Judge Judy, Electrocutioner -
Quote:you are not crippling yourself not using domination or hide. You lose out on major effects, but you are not crippled.Except Nova is not a core ability of a Peacebringer or Warshade. Unlike your other two examples, you are not crippling yourself by not using it. It is an *optional* power. (And arguably a Stalker can get away without using hide with the current changes, though I wouldn't recommend it.)
-
Quote:confront is not a core ability of scrappers. It's a valid point, though, if one of your arguments for not playing the AT is a skippable power. Thus my (rather extreme, admittedly) counterexample.
To put it another way, what would you say to someone who said they wouldn't play scrappers because they didn't want to have to take Confront? Probably the same thing I said - "Then don't take it."
I would liken it more to someone playing a stalker and not using hide, or a dominator and not using domination.
you do not need to use them, but they are main features of the AT. -
-
no point in her posting until she has the pic ready
-
I have them unlocked. I've never even tried one.
I don't play one because I have no interest in them. The problem is that they are not superheroes. They are not my character. They are this alien thing that I have no interest in playing.
I don't have that problem with SoA's because I can make the costume and just ignore the SoA part. But I don't want to play a flying squid, or a dwarf thing.
The only reason to play one seems to be "because they are there". -
I am happy for a free item I might someday use.
-
I'm always impressed by the high quality of your videos.
I'll have to sit down with my daughter and watch some. She likes all things superhero at this point. -
-
cleared cache and now I can see that I'm no longer playing a superhero game
of course my character is a carnival ringmaster who can turn into a jester and a tiger, so I can't complain much about not fitting a superhero theme -
role: ranged damage and suppression
suppression is defined as active damage mitigation. That can be slows and immobilizes to keep foes at range, -to hit, etc. The critical thing about suppression is that it would be attacks that need to be continuously reapplied. And much of it would be non-permable.
Every blaster should have a 3 second disorient/stun/fear with a 16 second recharge. They use that to set up their big attack to take out a foe, but cannot perma it.
Every blaster should have an aoe immobilize or slow
Blaster secondary secondary effects should have the effect doubled but the duration halved. Dark would give a -10% to hit for 5 seconds. So it is effective but you have to keep hitting your foes to keep them suppressed. -
are we supposed to see something different in the forum?
i still see clock and states above the forum -
the nice thing is I need the Psyche TF, but now I'll get to do the new one and I bet a ton of people are doing it so it should be easy to find one.
-
NPC's aren't an AT they just get powers.
but if she's really good at everything, just call her a brute -
I will definitely play this as I like your redone arcs.
But I may wait and play it on my next character
what level is it for? -
Quote:What tanker damage issue?I think the Devs could come up with an interesting new mechanic for Tankers that addressed some of the damage issues
Tankers do not have a damage issue. They solo fine.
They do less damage than blasters, scrappers, stalkers, and brutes - as expected -
I have most of the first run and most of his appearances in starslayer. I would like to find the few I am missing.
I'll have to look for the newer ones as well.
