I was able to do both PermaDom and soft cap S/L with my Fire/Fire...it was quite expensive, but he is a beast.

I don't plan on shooting for soft capped defense on my Fire/Dark. With all the -To-Hit I will just pop a luck or two to help that cause. I'd rather shoot for recharge and recovery on mine.

I built mine for +HP, Recharge and some Melee def I believe. He's been quite sturdy since then, even when I ran Posi and Synapse.

Its not bad at all. Resistance shields are handy since IO bonuses lean towards defense, and it offers some perks of debuffs and mez protection. People on the forums generally migrate towards the obvious sets that are good....the whole flock mentality.

I've got a Fire/TA at 50, and am currently leveling a Fire/Dark. Honestly, both are very fun, as Fire makes everything fun IMO.
