Mine isn't soft capped, but around 42% with Hover on, and 44% to energy as well.

    ???/Storm

I've seen Fire/Storm do some serious damage and chaos

Ice/Storm would provide a little more mitigation and protection though.....problem is I cannot get over the pure joy that is fire.

    Dark/Cold

I tried Soul first, then Leviathan, and now I'm giving the high defense route with Mace. I haven't had a chance to test it out, but I have a soft capped Fire/TA that is quite fun and sturdy.

  5. Its nice to see people interesting in doing large team events again around here. I'm out of town, or I would have been there as well. Its funny how differently some people play this game, some folks like to have fun, and not get too caught up in fictitious rewards, while others think its all about the lewt....which brings up a great point in that if you don't like what others are doing, go do what you enjoy somewhere else...nobody is following you around, trying to piss in your Cheerios...its not our fault your life is that miserable.....I mean, why come back to a game that all you do is complain about anyways...just go... :-P
  6. I tried to make a build for perma-IW on my Ill/Cold, and was able to...but I did not like the outcome with certain powers' slotting...so I stuck with my heavy recharge focus with S/L almost soft capped.
  7. Hmmm....awards eh....gonna have to drink a few beers and think about this one....
  8. Just toss up one of the builds you started, and folks will work with it, and offer advice on what to tweak to make it better.
  9. The redraw might get annoying after awhile. Also, it depends on your opinion of the KB that Shockwave does.
  10. I've teamed with a few of them, and they seemed to put out some serious damage. Of course FA isn't as stout as other secondaries with straight SO slotting, but with some smart IO choices, it can hold up just fine.
I went with Claws/FA on a brute, and have been very satisfied with my damage output.

    Budget Laptop

I was looking to get a new laptop, something under $500 that could suffice for a little bit of CoX playing when I'm traveling. I came across this one, and it seems like it wouldn't be too shabby. Am I way off base, or not?

    HP G62-340US
  12. It took me over 5 years to finally level a Dark Miasma, and it took Fire Blast as a Corruptor to keep me going...but if I had to go with a Defender, Ice Blast would be the secondary hands down.
  13. I just threw this build together and was looking for some feedback on it. I placed a couple slots in rest to mimic slotting for inherent Fitness.

It should be soft-cap to S/L defense and have some good recharge bonus even though I didn't take Hasten.

    Ebil

You are extra ebil...energy blast on a corr. :P
  16. I consider it a game to get DE to spawn as many eminators as possible while fighting them. Between the Quartz and the Cairns, it makes the fight much more interesting. Its one of the few things in the game that forces you to play aggressively and pay attention.
  17. Alright, I took a closer look at the build (since you reminded me in game :P). I see an issue with the lack of an attack chain. With only Thunder Kick, Dragon's Tail, and Eagle's Claw...is Mu Lightning gonna be a filler? If so, it would seem to be a chain that is lacking. Also, Thunder Kick is under-slotted and you've got some interesting slotting in other powers for bonuses that really aren't needed.

I would find something to drop (this is a matter of preference, so its up to you) and add either CAK, Crane Kick, or Cobra Strike. You also might want to consider swapping Storm Kick for Thunder Kick, as SK is much better.

You also might want to consider tossing a Kismet unique in somewhere, as it helps a ton, especially when exemp'd for TFs and with lower accuracy attacks while you are debuffed.
  18. Mu would probably be a good choice, with a decent AoE power in Ball Lightning, and a ranged ST attack in Mu Lightning or Zapp if you're into snipes. Mace could also be worked as a theme-based, with using a mace as a gadget.
  19. I usually stockpile commons on the market, and put them for sale as I get 10 of them...and I list them very cheap to try and keep a constant flow of cheap stock on the market.

    Brute Help!

I have the same combo as a tank, and was very satisfied with it. I feel a brute would be awesome as well.

  22. Bottom line is knowing what you're going against, and making a conscious decision on how to handle it. There is no ultimate right answer, as certain powersets offer better advantages over others in certain situations. Then taking into account picking up IO sets that help shore up some of the weaknesses, or strategic use of inspirations, you can overcome just about any obstacle.

    Melee Damage sets:

Kinetic Combat (+3.75% S/L DEF for four slots)
Smashing Haymaker (cheaper than KC, +1.88% S/L DEF for four slots)
Pounding Slugfest (+1.25% E/N DEF for three slots)
Pulverizing Fisticuffs (+1.25% E/N DEF for three slots)

    Damage Resistance sets:

Reactive Armor (+1.25% S/L/E/N DEF for four slots)
Aegis (combined +4.69% F/C DEF for five slots)
Steadfast Protection (+3% DEF to all on the unique)

Some of those are expensive, but using them can get you to the soft-cap at least to S/L fairly quickly. Personally I'd neglect Fire/Cold DEF, because strong fire/cold attacks tend to be typed as S/L too for the purposes of opposing DEF. Energy/Negative is your second priority in my view.

Though it's true that your RES covers you against S/L damage already, it's also true that many DEF debuffs are typed as lethal attacks (swords, knives, machine guns). And because S/L damage is so prevalent the more you can ignore it, the better off you are (indirectly) against everything else that might go along with it. Considering those things, and considering that S/L is by far the easiest category for an Invuln build to stack, it isn't overkill to soft-cap to S/L attacks.

Capping both S/L and E/N is doable on a Brute, but you may find that you have to sacrifice undue amounts of +recharge to do that. As usual, it's a matter of taste.
I'd shoot for some of these sets, and for your PBAoE powers, 4 slotting Eradications and 2 slotting either Scirocco's Dervish or Cleaving Blow. This will yield some great bonuses as well.
  24. Thats because you haven't Liked the Facebook page.
