Last night I attended the Hami ....

I saw a lot of new ppl

names escape me but there was a donut eating Detective.... a Dead guy.... I don't think it really counts as finally teaming with... they both left my team

Seriously it was great to put a face on some of the names I see around here....

    Si.........

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not my fault Si blame Kin he kept kicking peeps from the team (I think Kin watches too much Mythbusters hehe well I was watching WWE lol)

For me raids are really a social event - as anyone who's teamed with me on raids all I really do is chat about food It's always a pleasure to see many of the forum goers attend (too many to name but always cool to see Kin and Kaji-san) as well as some new peeps (Muk - glad you could make it).

I had the honor of teaming and chatting with Miyoko
  2. KOS-MOS,

I really enjoyed reading the comments and power descriptions for Sonic though I wish you had the Magnitude values (we can test them later ).

Does anyone happen to have a guide to some solid numbers for the Devices secondary?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Check out MrBurke's AR/Dev Damage Guide.

    I have a question:

I was recently asked if FoN and TI stacked. I had assumed they did, but would like to know for certain. Has this been tested and proven?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It should stack though I've never tested with any of my Blasters. I have tested Unstoppable (which FoN is based on) with my Tank when I had TI and the S/L resistance stacked (my tank's S/L resists aren't at the cap)
  5. The post above is for Fire Shield
  6. Just tested on Live with an single Endurance Reducer slotted

Level 44 Crey Cryo Tank Frozen Fists melee attack
    Smashing 5.22 OFF - 4.21 ON = 1.01 Diff / 5.22 = 19.3%
    Cold 16.72 OFF - 15.55 ON = 1.17 Diff/16.72 = 6.9% ~ 7%

Level 50 Behemoth LT 's Fire Breath
    Fire 63.42 OFF - 54.54 = 8.88 Diff/63.42 = 14%

9/14 Test post I5 on Live

    19% to S/L, 14% Fire, 7% Cold

One last note is that Trip Mines will not go off if you aren't in a specific range of them, no matter how many mobs are in their aggro range. However if a mine has been sitting for a long time (forgive me I haven't timed it exactly, roughly 2-5mins) it will explode no matter where you are.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The distance to detonation (player to Tripmine) looks somewhere from 40-50 feet. A Tripmine's lifespan if undetonated should be 4 mins and 25-30 seconds.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
Second, I'd like to see a discussion of the relative benefits of using a L50 Hami versus a L53 SO. Seems like you're sacrificing some effectiveness of one trait in order to have the dual trait bonus (e.g., giving up some dmg so that you can have both dmg and acc). What's the tradeoff value? When is it better to use a Hami, when is it better to use a SO

    [/ QUOTE ]

A level 50 character using a level 50 HO will gain a 33.3% Boost to either two effects or three effects (20% for DEF, Damage Resist, Range and Cone Range)

A level 50 character using a level 53 SO will gain a 38.3% Boost to a single characteristic (23% for a DEF, Damage Resist, Range and Cone Range)

IMO it's a judgement call that each player may have to make for himself/herself.
  9. Pulsewave was kind enough to provide info on Electric Mastery

The new mastery set is phenomenal. I've made good use out of every power and it's really made me redisign my hero to fit in all the powers. Some preliminary numbers are below. I'll finish updating this all week as I do more testing. In the meantime if anyone can fill in the blanks I'm sure everyone would appreciate it.

Static Discharge: A ranged cone with 100% up-front damage. Animation is new. Uses the Tesla Cage arms up animation with static bolts flying forward. Not a bad animation but nothing too special. Looks much more short range than it actually is.

    Brawl Index: 2.5333
    Endurance: 18
    Range: about 20
    Recharge: 14

Shocking Bolt: I love this power. It's like a toned down Char. Animation is a suped up Charged Bolts with the same sound effects. It's a really cool looking power. When the hold hits the MOB is left shaking while held with a small static glow around it. Not as fancy as Tesla Cage, but still a nice looking power.

Brawl Index: ? (5 step DoT much higher damage than Tesla Cage)
    Brawl Index: 1.389
    Duration: about 15
    Endurance: 13
    Range: 80
    Recharge: 18
Magnitude: 3 (Will hold LT. Class mobs in one application)

Charged Armor: This power is phenomenal. It's got a nice, subtle animation and quiet sound effect while on. It's really loud when activating though. It protects against Smashing, Lethal, and Energy damage. That's got to be the best possible combination you could ask for.

Resistance: Base 19.25% to S/L and 14% to Energy
    Endurance: ?
    Recharge: 2
Effect: Lethal, Smashing, and Energy resistance

EMP Pulse: I was hoping for a lot from this power. It's got a pretty blah animation and sound effect IMO. The recharge is so long that it's of questionable use. I havent tested the AoE but I've read that it's about 25% of the Defender version. It's definitely a DISORIENT and not a HOLD. If slotted heavily this power would probably be pretty useful once every 4 minutes or so. Unfortunately I like all the other APP powers too and there's only so many slots left once you get this power.

    Brawl Index: ?
    Duration: 20
    Recharge: 800 (geez!)
    Magnitude: 3
    Effect: PBAoE Disorient

Just wanted to say quick thanks to Pulsewave for permitting me to post his original write up and Tin_Soldier for correcting and verifying the resistance numbers I was getting for Charged Armor

Once I5 looks more settled I'll do a rewrite with all this new information.
  10. Godspeed and safe return to your brother States
  11. With I5 on Test this guide will be rewritten ..

    New Epic/Ancillary Pool:

    Electric Mastery Pool

Static Discharge: Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Energy), -END
Shocking Bolt: Ranged, Minor DoT(Energy), Foe Hold, -END
Charged Armor: Toggle: Self +Res(Smash, Lethal, Energy)
EM Pulse: PBAoE, Foe Doisorient, -END, -Regen, Special vs. Robots; Self -Recovery
  12. I've played around with a combination of Recharge, Damage Resists and Endurance Recovery. However I believe the best slotting is what MsKnight recommends which is 4 Damage Resist /2 Recharge slotting if I am not mistaken (check your thread in the blaster boards)
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Very useful guide. Thanks for taking the time to write it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks but really the credit goes to all who helped

I retested Body Armor a while back and retested it again most recently. Technically it's 8.75% Resist to S/L. I'll have to add that in the next update.

    AR/Dev - Munitions or Force?

A tough choice. It seems that Munitions is cooler and Force is better.

    Thoughts?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That really depends on your current build and if you PvP as well. Had I a Hold/Stunner on my main (Energy/Devices) I would have probably gone with Force (better fit for concept than Fire is)
  15. [ QUOTE ]
thanks for the heads up on everything DB, the guide is great!

I had a question re: force of nature...

Wwith force of nature: if you FoN and then drop your 32 nuke (in my case inferno) does the FoN end recovery fill back up your blue bar quickly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am pretty sure that it does as long as you fire off your 32 nuke during FoN's duration.
  16. Get a feel for your powers - sure numbers for range helps but game wise just how far is 20'?

Depending upon how you built your character when working with AoE's try to get a feel for how strong they are. What I mean is try to use your AoE combos when you know you can finish them especially solo.

A good example of this is using my Fire/Energy Blaster at level 15. Slotted with 2 Accuracy and 4 Damage DO's and with Aim and Buildup he can anniliate a whole pack of +2 minions - but only with Aim and Buildup.

Another perfect example is a level 32 Energy Blaster who just got Nova and leaps into a pack of level 35 minions and wonders why he didn't wipe them out.

Use the environment to your advantage - especially with pulling and breaking line of sight.

When teamed with a tanker/scrapper/herder of some sort - wait until they are set before launching your arsenal. Good tanks will often move that little step to the right or left or jump up to pack the mobs underneath them - that benefits you especially those of you who have AoE attacks.

Learn how to combine your powers to maximum effect - suppose you're a Energy/Devices Blaster and you're teamed with an Fire/Ice Blaster and you're facing one of those dreaded Freak Tanks. So at some point during the fight you both decide to use your root/immobilize (Web Grenade/Chilblain) and you root him - so now while he can fire ranged attacks at you he's not all up in either of your all's grills smacking you with the hook.
  17. Blaster Guide to Raiding

I've been the Blaster Lead on Champion for a few occasions and I thought I'd post some thoughts up. As a Blaster doing the raids you will have primarily one duty - dealing damage to Hamidon (target assisting the Rangefinder and using Single target attacks) however depending upon other circumstances Blasters have been called in for other duties as well.

    Gathering

Blasters and non-EMP/non-RAD Defenders should rally at one locaton for a headcount and quick rundown (on Champion this is most frequently Blaster Hill - the hill south of the Hive Entrance).

    Into the Hive!

Get into the Hive and rally at the "East Stone" (Champion). At this point Defensive Toggles should be on until you rally at the desired point.

Monsters can see through stealth at close proximity and the Swarms can ground you and disable your toggles if you are struck by them.

Once you reach the grouping area assist the Melee squad in finishing monsters then disable defensive toggles. The only Toggles a Blaster should have running are Targeting Drone and Hover. The only Autoclick power that should be running is Hasten.

Into Hamidon's Bubble! (the Mito Phase)

Once Aggro is established the Raid leader will give the signal to go into Hamidon's bubble. As a Blaster you will be asked to Target Assist the Rangefinder/Targeter and use Single Target Attacks only - any attack which affects a Single Target (Power Bolt, Burst, Total Focus).

    Why no Sniper attacks?

Sniper type attacks are interruptible and cannot be used in Hamidon's bubble.

What about AoEs/Cones? They do good damage and they'll take down mitos faster since we hit more... NO..

The use of FullAuto, Firebreath, Fireball and other Cone and AoE attacks leads to Mito Splits which means more time taking down Hamidon. The use of AoE and Cone Attacks on a Mito close to Hamidon often (99.9%) will result in Hamidon firing a very nasty AoE upon the whole raid team.

Once all the Mito's are taking down everyone rallys to a certain point.

    The Melee Smackdown stage!

To ensure our melee brothers earn an HO just after we take down the Mitos we ask our melee brothers to lay one hit on Hamidon and then exit out. Use the time here to catch a quick break, talk about pizza, flirt with female superheroines etc. There should be no Blasters in Hamidon's Bubble unless you are taking a snapshot of one of your melee buddies

    Holding Hamidon!

Once Melee lay the smacketh down on Hamidon - next up is the Defenders and Controllers to Hold Hamidon. At this point it is important to pay attention to Broadcast/Request/Global Hamidon Chat/Whatever. Unless otherwise instructed by Blaster Lead or Raid leader Blasters will remain outside Hamidon's Bubble until called upon.

On Champion Blasters have been asked on many occasions to assist with holds. However it is up to the individual Raid leader's discretion. If called in a Blaster should either hover some distance above Hamidon or stay out to maximum range which should be anywhere from 60-80 feet from Hamidon. While Blasters have access to two melee holds (Shocking Grasp and Freezing Touch) it's better to use just Ranged Holds to prevent any lag for the Controllers/Defenders. A complete list of Blasters Holds can be found in the guide in my sig.

    Fire at Will!!

Once instructed Blasters will be given the signal to fire at Hamidon. On Champion I've tried starting a tradition of using a Sniper style attack on Hamidon before entering the bubble. Upon entering Hamidon's Bubble, Blasters should spread out and stay at maximum range and cycle their attacks. A Blaster may use any ranged attack available. Unless cycling a Hold with their attacks all Blasters should be at least 50 feet away from Hamidon. Blasters should be cycling their most powerful Ranged attacks without being so close as to lag out Controllers/Defenders. This means it's preferable to use Full Auto and Fireball but less desirable to use Firebreath and FrostBreath. Use of Storm powers such as Rain of Fire/Freezing Rain/Ice Storm is solely the discretion of the raid leader. Blasters should be using an efficient RANGED attack chain. An Energy Blast Blaster/Defender should be cycling Power Bolt / Power Blast (and Power Burst if slotted for range or enough Range/Damage HO's) at least 80 ft from Hamidon.

If a Blaster cannot target Hamidon use either the Rangefinder or a pet such as a Dark Fluffy (Dark Defender's pet) or a Singularity (Gravity's pet)

    Hami Beaten! Now what?

After Hamidon is beaten it is important to kill all the buds so that Hamidon will Respawn.

What is the damage like for Rise of the Phoenix? Noticable? Run away before the crazy blaster revives himself? Hmm?

    [/ QUOTE ]

RoP doesnt register in the combat window so exact numbers are kinda tricky to obtain. I tested it unslotted vs

Level 50 Advanced Drone (Rikti) 139
Level 50 Tactical officer (Malta) 111
Level 50 Possessed Scientist (CoT) 111

Char does damage in Ticks - roughly 12.22 unslotted for damage per tick.

So i am gettin ready to chose my first epic power. But opinion based what is best for an AR/Elec blaster? The munitions mastery looks great and the LRM really sounds exciting. But as a blaster i may need to worry more about defense. I have NO punch powers other than brawl ( i used to rely on them too much, therefore died ALOT) anyways help me out. Tell me what is good and bad about these powers before i get to lvl 41. I am halfway to it.
    thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]

That really depends on your playstyle. Do you use Shocking Grasp from your Electric Secondary? If so you can stack it with a successive hit from Char (Fire Mastery) or Cryo Freeze Ray (Munitions Mastery). If you're looking for something more defensive minded consider the Force Mastery pool. My best suggestion is to try all the pools on the test server yourself - just the functionality of it - to see if it works with your playstyle.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
First, 5% to hit chance is the minimum (1 in 20). This is Always true for Everything, so no matter how high your defense is (say ten thousand percent), you will still get hit 5% of the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This is true

    [ QUOTE ]
Second, the to hit chance is partially dependant on level, so the mob probably had the minimum 5% chance to hit without personal force field

    [/ QUOTE ]

An even con minion has base 50% chance to hit. To calculate a rough base for PFF simply turn it and no other powers on. Then count the number of times one gets hit with PFF on with a mob swinging. Since the Dev's don't provide numbers this seems like a good way to get a rough base.
