I totally want to see your progress. Post!

"Ditto," says the lurker. -
Nope. No CO either. I have things that need doing and time's short.
Thank you all. LJ gets my stuff. -
Well, I never thought it would come to this, but real world priorities are forcing me into cancellation. Sept. 27, 10 days after my birthday, I'll no longer be here. I'll still be on DA, but I must bid this world adieu.
I have truly enjoyed watching the artists here grow and loved our many conversations.
Best to all,
I'll be about until Sept. 27th, just wanted to say bye in style. -

I don't really think Image's, or Liefeld's for that matter, successes had much at all to do with the quality of the writing or art. Image, as well as Valiant, were started during the ridiculous era of "comics as collectibles", as opposed to being things one enjoys. There was a goodly long stretch when Wizard magazine included the preposterous "Comic Book Portfolio" section, wherein varied "collectors" showcased their never opened, hermetically sealed comics.
Image and Valiant were the new kids at that time, and used scads of silly "promotional" tricks such as variant covers, die-cut covers, hologram covers, etc., all to try to sell the same issue multiple times. And sadly, it worked. It's pretty obvious that the people willing to buy all 6 covers of, heck I dunno, Ninjak number 1 or something didn't really care about what happened between the covers.

See, now I don't have to say it, because this was going to be my point.

Joss Whedon
Mutant Enemy
Captain Tightpants (aka Captain Hammer)
Doogie Howser as Dr. Horrible
Great fun!
Go. Now. What are you waiting for?

Nothing. Of course, there are at least two, maybe three, threads about this in the Comic forum.

My search-fu is Krap! Actually, it's krap on these boards for some reason. Everywhere else it's really good.
If there is someone other than me who has for unknown reasons missed this until now--enjoy. -

I love Penny Arcade

Ouch. Too bad it's unlikely he'll ever have that much self-awareness. -

The difference is Greg Land can actually draw. He leans far too heavily on source material (I say, as I sit here making poses in Poser,), but when he starts from scratch, Captain America doesn't end up with boobs and Picasso torso.
[/ QUOTE ]
not as bad but
look at the girl in black on the left
And I'm not talking about the face she has (Land uses that exact face all the time). but the fact she has a 7 inch waist and 4 inch thick legs that come in from odd angles. and the girl behind her is missing the rest of her body.
This is not uncommon of the people in the backgrounds of his comic pages, Not so much on his covers or promo work.
What bothers me more than that, and more than all his art swiping. is the fact his female characters rarely look the same from page to page. On Fantastic Four Sue would go from wavy to straight hair and back across three panels on the same page.

Weird. The girl in white and Green, the girl with the python and the blond in front are all Ashley Scott. -

I herded the whole building to her.......uhm......does that make me culpable?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, that makes you a hero. -

I went fishing with Liefeld worms and only caught fish with no fins.
Dark Ether undeniable truth #1: Hot chicks are hot!! (clone or not)
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm adding a corollary to that. I'll call it Wright's Corollary, because a student named Wright first voiced it:
Cat Girls are Hot. Always. -

People are posting again? Holy moley!
[/ QUOTE ]
No we're not--you're just imagining it.
In fact, this isn't even really here. -
Wow. That guy has Leifield's number. I've never enjoyed seeing someone ripped apart, but this, this is art (which is more than we can say about Leifield's work).
Everybody who wants to draw comics needs to read that as a primer on what NOT to ever do as an artist. -

That's a pretty good way to use your contrast color!
Must make it hard to make those stealth kills, though!
[/ QUOTE ]
Since it really isn't a stealth weapon, I thought, ehhn, why not?
It does make hiding in shadows really difficult. You have to remember of course, until it is used, they keep it shoved up their bum--which isn't so bad when y ou realize that the broadsword users do the same. -
Probably too late and not particularly inspired, but here's
Golden Gun -
Magik, Man-Thing, The Leader, Lockjaw, Gorgon, Karnak, Iridia, Arishem the Judge, Makkari, Thena, Wyatt Wingfoot, Sunspot, Cannonball, Danielle Moonstar, Power Pack. Power Pack.
That's all for now. -

I just want to share with you--I consider you friends--my joy.
My baby girl--now 22--is getting married tonight.
Take care all. BTW: Pictures of said daughter are here.

Congrats dude, I see that yer old like me.
That pic of you looks like it's from '87.(It is, isn't it?)

A more current image of me--reading the prayers of the people at the wedding ceremony: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...weekend383.jpg
I couldn't say how old the first picture is--probably early 90's.
BTW: more wedding weekend images are available at http://sandie365.blogspot.com/
Thank you all for the good thoughts--She's a dancer and dance instructor in NYC and he's a FDNY Medic/paramedic of some type--he can administer drugs and pronounce people dead, which gives him a very specific title in the system.
Thank you all very much. It was traumatic, but I managed to get through it--even the father-daughter dance without stomping the bridal train or falling down--miracles do happen. -
