  1. i would tell you to try both the dark/dark/soul blaster [to play as a ranged beast or blapper, though then i'd just be a dark/dark/soul scrapper] or the dark/dark/soul corr/def [the same to me really, dep if you want endurance management or dmg output.] i realize this doesnt answe the question lol soooo

then i'd also say try blaster first. if that doesnt suit you then do the defender. since you said it's sand themed, ask yourself "do i want a sand-man [dark maisma pet] or more sand-worm-tentacles[dark/dark/soul blast has what, four powers with tentacles: two single immobs, and two cones of them]?"

mmmmm. tentacles. [i love my blaster. he's squid themed. shoots ink :P]

    solves my judgement problem XD

dont the Arachnos Lore Pets: Total Core Improved and Core Superior - Which have a Bane Spider and Toxic Tarantula - continue the toxic dmg output? or do they not really? they dont do the most dps according to the wiki but are somewhere in the middle... But im not sure of all the lore pets' additional affects beyond the storm elementals [which i use a lot heh]

    Vanity Vehicles

    ALTHOUGH

it could be possible to make, with the current tech and restrictions:

a hover-rock, hover ice shard with trail, tornado travel power, OR [*here's where it becomes relevant*] handleless-motor-scooter/T-board/Wave that is in the shape of the hoverboard, but with two wheels, and acts basically like the slide temp power. or a more aero-winged hoverboard, a hover-cloud, other aerial travel devices.

so no full on vehicle, but there are still plenty of potential options we could get if they look into it and hear us shout loud enough. but of course, it will be for a price :/

    Toxic Damage

hey i was wondering if anyone had any idea how good a plant/thorn/ -leviathan[with bile spray] or -mace[with poisonous ray + tarantula] dom might be with the chance for toxic dmg proc and the degenerative interface might be as far as toxic output?

i dont really know how to use mids :/

im gonna go see if i can craft the interface and ill check back laterz

also, my bane @ lv 26 is amazeballz. ty!
  5. yes to everything

as I see it, poison has the potential to be super awesome with just a few tweaks:

1-add atleast one more toxic DoT, maaaaaaybe two, minor to moderate. where? i'd say neurotoxic breath, or paralytic poison. something where the dmg is decent, but not over powered or too minor that it's completely negligible [im looking at you gale and force bolt T_T] to fill out the set.

2- the AoE's must be... a tiny bit better: increase the AoE radius. that's all really. or in the case of venomous gas - which i love - balance it out more for a squishy in meelee range.

3- consistency with animations: give us options. right now we have mouth, palm, forearm, hand-toss, mechanical trap. ummm.... i'd like to have atleast mouth/hand options for everything [trap and venomous gas are ok not to], and a non-tech option for the trap [even if it was just the bubble on the ground]. a potential animation to use is the beach ball over the head throw that's in repulsion/neutron bomb.

all easy tweaks. all would make this set AMAZEBALLSGASMIC for everyone. it's already a great set but it's still lackluster and missing something. these somethings.

that's what i believe i hope they revisit it soon.

    Ancient Japan!

Sign me up for the Historic Asian, Central American and Central African zones with their respective Dragon-Creature-Shape-Shifting AVs and TFs available through Midnighters. Tie in Incarnates from around the world, why not? Finally give us more potentially indigenous costume pieces, wild four legged critters we can attack, or a useful [nameable please] combat four legged critter.

yes. please. thanks. four legged rigs now available let's DO this . also, spider-skinned spider rigs please. would be nice to whack apart a few shelob-spawns that arent arachnos cyborgs.

Atlantis would tie in to Mu and Cot and Coralax lore more easily than Midnighters, and could introduce another race, or heck even another origin or EAT [hint hint water based powers with a little leviathan mastery and aquatic-amphibious frog-fish-shark-octopus men pets? reskinned arachnoids as crab...oids...? wait a minute... well i'd like those too actually].
  7. i wish i knew how to make vids, and i had a more capeable computer lol or i would so show you some of my dom-goodness.

great job with yours. im thinking of working on my Earth/Earth [got him to 9 then got distracted by the poison prolif]

    definitely my favorite AT.

Basically, each henchman has four costumes: one default, one with just the first upgrade, one with just the second upgrade and one with both.

    ---

All of that said... Sure. Of course I'd like to see customizable henchmen. One of my dreams has always been to see a sort of "storm trooper" appearance for Mercenaries henchmen. Right now, the only "futuristic" henchmen we have are Robotics robots, with the Mercs more resembling 1970s Vietnam era US soldiers, complete with the Arnold Schwartzenegger shirtless commando who'd have his eyes sucked out of his head Total Recall style if he actually went out in space like what I want to have mine do.

Mastermind henchmen customization is one of the big things left in this game, right next to the ability to fire non-weapon powers (Ice Blast, say) out of guns and weapon powers out of our hands or hand-mounted implements. It's always been a good idea.
I honestly feel the best way to achieve MM customization is to allow players to unlock alternate "skins" for their pets via badges. the alternate skins would be models of already-in-game critters which there are definitely enough variety with continuity to avoid needing to make so many new costumes, and to avoid the potential mess of completely custom critters. More than color customization, most people want alt pet skins for thematic purposes. then maybe color changing of all or part. then complete customization [which honestly im indifferent to, also it's a lot of work and information] so alt skins is, if we get MM customization, what we'll probably get. [Like the OP suggested, Demons could potentially summon CoT demons instead, or Rularuu critters might work, and so-on. This could even finally introduce female MM pets with Knives as Mercs or succubus demons, etc.]

there are so many robots, zombies, demonic, a few ninja-esque, and zillions of potential thugs and mercs. and each enemy group has enough costumes to make up for the costume changes and continuity of the "upgrade" costume changes. and if all that is needed is to mark the pet with the corresponding chosen critter costume skin, retaining the same powers, etc, than i think this would satisfy the majority of players. also, since we can have Lore pets related to NPC groups, Patron pet powers, NPC costume change powers, and Signature Summons this would totally make sense and fit great.

granted, i dont know what it would take to make this happen, i'm no programmer designer what-have-you, but i think this is possible with the npc costume change powers we have, the ability to rename individual pets, and badge unlocked costume pieces already in game.

    then we could reasonably have:
Pets [within the powers customization menu]
[Custom or Default selection dropdown menu]
    tier 1 zombie 1: vhaz
tier 1 zombie 2: banished pantheon [husk]
    tier 1 zombie 3: default

tier 2 zombie 1: zombie apocalypse [reanimated corpse]
tier 2 zombie 2: banished pantheon [dry chamber]

    tier 3 lich: default

    necromancy ghost: CoT [Spectral Night]

the list of NPC critters and groups would be awesome to be able to unlock, and to me, wrap up this issue pretty easily. would even stall the need for new MM primaries [although i can come up with plenty of those too though.] but imagine with me for a moment, a CoH where MMs can summon, if they want, clockwork and Behemoths instead of the goofy robots and ugly-loud-annoying-ALWAYS-IN-THE-WAY demons. :sigh: what a wonderful world that will be.

new origin, Icarnate, that would be VIP only?!?!?! More freeform Character Creation?!?! YESSSSSSSSS!

Maybe like Primary - [Fire Incarnate] Secondary [Weaponry] and fire incarnate would have ranged, control, meelee, sheild/auras within it and you can have X number of powers from all of Firedom. Weaponry would probably be branched or have parts exclusive but allow for multiple weapons like ranged[bow, pistol, ar] meelee[do i need to list?] and shields/auras and as a secondary you could have Y amount which is less than X [though Weapon Incarnate could be your primary and Fire your secondary, so the number of powers available would then be swapped...]...

or that could make the whole game eingine explode, so...

but a new origin would be cool

Sometimes I feel like being a shrink/grow guy and simulate it by having the exact same costume on 2 costume slots with one maxed out size and one smallest possible size (via the science pack). Switching the costumes can look pretty cool and has turned a few heads.
i feel like there are things similar to exclusive toggles beyond "only affecting self" like with stone armor for example.

and true, i'm trying right now the diferent costume slots for different sizes, but to have a tiny, regular, and large size, there isnt enough contrast between the sm&md or md&lrg, sm&lrg is fun tho but then i cant be normal size w/out having drastic costume differences to make the change seem more...epic.

i feel like a powerpool could make Size Changing happen easy schmeasy.

Maybe even Shape Shifting too with various levels of 'stealth', 'placate' and 'intangibility' based on your ability to mimic the targeted enemy for a period of time. four powers would be easy to come up with for ShapeShifting as a power pool

    Toxic Damage

    ::squeals with glee::

now i know how i should build a toxic-poisonous themed character.

right now i have a sonic/poison/mace themed bug and am anxious to reach the degenerative goodness, but i really don't have any toxic dmg attacks lol. and poison trap dmg is teeny tiny. and like you mentioned, cant get bile spray or poison ray = i'm a sad panda.
    maybe i'll try a plant/poison/leviathan or add degenerative to my plant/thorn/leviathan i think. :/ and if that doesn't satisfy me it's a Bane/Leviathan [which i'll be making anyway ].

god i wish the poison set had at least one more mildy damaging attack. probably the cone would be best. :sigh:

anyway yaaaaaay this thread is my favorite. thanks OP GuyPerfect, and errrbody!
  12. As an actual power set, or even more an EAT, I'd say that is a LOT of powers to come up with based on shrinking or growing. Not that it is impossible, but I would believe that shrinking/growing would fit best into a power pool alongside flight/tp/stealth/etc, so lots of character concepts could use it. This set would be mostly buffs, like the stealth and leadership pools. Your limits for size are about right I'd say. So the powers for the pool, as i see most reasonable, are:

Body Mass Manipulation: Your mastery over your body mass allows you to alter your size and density for either increased defense or offense.

1- "Decrease Density" [lv 4] Self Click +Speed, +Recharge [low]
Your ability to convert some of your body mass to energy allows you to move faster and attack faster for a time.

2- "Increase Density" [lv 4] Self Click +Res(Smash, Energy, Disorient, Hold, Immobilize, Knockback), -SPD(Special)
Your ability to increase your mass gives you protection from oncoming attacks for a time.

3- "Bantam" or "Shrink" [lv 14] Self Toggle +Def [high], +Stealth [*size change small]
You can condense or dispel your body mass to an strikingly reduced amount, thereby making you harder for enemies to spot, and granting a defense bonus.

4- "Gargantuan" or "Grow" [lv 14] Self Toggle +Res(Smash,Lethal, Hold, Immobilize, Knockback), +Dmg, +ToHit [*size change large]
You can generate enough mass to expand your bodysize and grow larger than most enemies, thereby making your attacks stronger and giving your thicker skin desistance to smashing and lethal damage. You are also harder to contain, giving hold, immobilize, and knockback resistance.

optional 5- "Titanic" [lv 14] only usable outdoors, requires two other powers. Self Click +Max Health, PBAoE Foe Fear, Self -End[Delayed] You gather mass from the surrounding area to ingrease your body size beyond fathom, increasing your own hit points for a time, and striking fear in all those who see you. Doing this requires a lot of energy, and aftreward you will be exhausted and drained of endurance. Can only be used outdoors.

    ......................
that's how i see Shape Changing should be that way it could be useable by all. demonic villains growing, bug heroes shrinking, incarnates growing to godly sizes, or basic heroes receiving basic buffs. and as long as the numbers aren't TOO high, and comparable to the other power pool buffs, this wont be over powered at all.

    whaddya think?
  13. ok, so Nightstar makes some sense then. Still, i dont think Siege needs to be so ginormous if he's going to be standing in a building talking to mother mayhem, and opposite NS only reminds me that females must be sexy and males can be whatever they want to be BUT sexy.

Man-bots would like to be aesthetically pleasing also.

again, going through recent costume sets, i ended back at the barbarian set, which had amazing pieces, but almost each piece in the set was limited to a bodytype. females didnt get the fuzzy-shorts [would be great for cave-women!], and males didnt get the leather-brief. conan[the epitome of 'barbarian'] wore a leather brief sometimes, and it's a great look that could work with a lot of concepts.

i really dont get why the pieces werent just made for both body types. [i consider HUGE to be male, really, even though it does get a little less love.]

  14. kind of along these lines also, although perhaps back to the female mm minions, i would like tosee the sybils added to the lore incarnate pets with maybe the minotaur or cyclops as the partner pet, a second cimeroran option. and a coralax partnered with a coral warder option too.

    just sayin. XD

but today i was again trying to make a good longer haired option for male and all i can really use is ponytail but it's so... tiny. i want a warrior with a big bead -which he has- and then long hair too. dare i say Glam? yes, i do dare. beverley thrills and the other long options too please, for male.
  15. So, poison is still a little lack luster and here are a few suggestions to make it awesome.

    1. add at least one more toxic dot. where? i'd suggest neurotoxic breath for sure. where else? paralytic poison maybe... but definitely the ranged cone. it still feels a tiny bit underpowered and this might make it work without having to change the buffs and numbers anymore.

    2. add some alternate animations: sometimes my goo comes from my palm, sometimes my forearm, and sometimes my mouth... uhmmm... can i atleast pick one? have hand/mouth options for most of the attacks please: envenom, weaken, neurotoxic breath, paralytic poison. alkaloid, elixir, and antidote dont also need a mouth animation, in my opinion but the option couldnt hurt.

    3. expand the potential animations: use the "beack ball overhead toss" animation as an alternate option for envenom, weaken, or paralytic poison. give poison trap a non-tech version. that little trap could be so less... specific... even if it was just an orb on the ground as an option.

    4. for "being affected by poison" on your targets, flavor in a little bit of the sewer trial's hydra power fx. cuz right now i can hardly see that they are even affected.

it's a neat set but it's still lacking that UMPF that could happen with a little better fx. sonic has been fx updated, so poison can too if people like the current ones enough, keep them as an option.
  16. if any changes to Storm summoning, i would like to see the damage of gale increased from trivial to minor. i mean, it SAYS minor but really it is so insignificant, and it would be nice to have it do a little more damage. not that they arent useful as soft control, cuz they totally are, but it might make them a tiny tiny bit more useful through out the game, as i find myself using it less and less in heated battle for my damage dealing cones instead.

the same with force bolt. even just a little bit of a dmg increase. not to over power it but to give it a little umpf.

those are like, two of my most favorite powers in game for support ATs.

    9) crime of passion: (several stabs to the chest) [meleeST] extreme damage, stun, HEAVY defense/resistance debuff {DoT}

crime of passion... O_O oh my...

caltrops probs would be in a blast set because it's available in the secondary.

i feel that if anything, a knife throwing set could be an ancillary pool, i have a hard time seeing seven/eight powers based on knife throwing alone. then again, how many ways can you shoot a gun? plenty of powersets from that so it's possible.
  18. Hi all, i was working on an AE arc, and wanted to have one mission be non-combat, but rather informational.

I know that there are ways to fine tune a mission to make this happen but am still relatively new-isht o mission building and would like some help or advice.

i made a mission, and have in it nothing but three allies, and an enemy group that is below the mission level, so they spawn grey which is nice so they wont attack. but in order for the allies to be free and speak i still have to kill some of them, which i would prefer not to have to do. sometimes the allies spawn [always atleast one, sometimes two but not all three] without guarding enemies so they simply speak one blurb when i approach.

how would you recommend i fix this mission to make it more story-like, non-combat, and have a little more information? because right now im limited to the one, 100 character blurb they say upon "rescue".

    thanks!
  19. i just started a sonic/poison corr of my own so i'd be interested in what more people have to say about the combo. agree with not taking: *antidote or *elixir of life unles you intend to support a lot. i've never used *poison trap so i wouldnt be sure really how good it is, but ill probably take it as a mule, or for longer fights.

for sonic, i always take all three cones because rapidfire of all three when slotted right is nice and you can finish off with a soft-hold-sleep before you return to you single targeted attacks. i tend to rotate:

    single target > debuffs > cones > single target;
    heals as needed

*screech is the disorient, right? totes skippable. *dreadful wail, the tier 9 aoe can be useful, but i hardly use it [but my main sonic is /storm which makes casting it crippling for my second set in heated battle], so depending on how you play, you might not need it orr slot it well and use it during tougher battles

but i'd like to know what other folks have to say actually!

but as for a non-combat pet [the likes we already have and might be easily doable], i would really like a dragonfly
  21. NPCs are a great idea. but i would limit the number by the size of the plot and the type of room. even some that simply wander the room they are placed in [like a butler? ] and each with a simple dialog if you click them.

nurse could give insps. could be a tailor who stands with a rack of clothing, OR a rack of clothing with a changing stall could be a stand-alone tailor.

personally i would like to see a few more natural looking items: rocks, boulders, different types of trees: palms, evergreens, exotic; and maybe a couple pools of water as floor options or placeable items.
  22. daveyj3

    Animal Control

to me, animal control is a control set for trollers and doms, with various animals that fade in and out of existence to attack your enemies and only one-to-three that last a while and attack continuously like flytrap or imps. and for customization you can pick from: forest, exotic, elemental, darkness, or celestial and it would change the skins of the attacks from say fr example, a swarm[hold] of X to: butterflies, hummingbirds, 'fire'-flies, bats, and spirit-dragon-flies. O_O

and for masterminds, they would more likely get Beastly Warriors with half-animal warriors and barbaric weapons. tiger-men, bear-brutes, and an eagle-knight(a pet that can finally fly!) [bipedal, animal heads]. gang-war could be a pack of hyenas [using the new four-legged-model] that rampage across your screen and attack for a while before dispersing again [fading out.]

    that's what i think
  23. i was actually about to start a thread about this and found this one here

with the new model, more dog breeds would be... ok i guess... but do something a little more different and appealing to all sorts of themes.

a robot, a gargoyle beast, a basilisk type critter, tiger/panther, fawn/small deer. other four legged creatures to take advantage of the model.

also, some just wandering various maps would be great. a lot of work went into this long awaited four-legged model and there are already some neat rigs with various critters - arachnos especially - that should be taken advantage of with new skins and loosed upon paragon city and the rogue isles as a new menagerie of beasts.

BUT my main point for posting...

i would like to see a dragonfly vanity [or combat, always up for combat/buff pets] pet. a body similar to the squiddies [obviously not a strait port :P] with undulation and flight poses, and some insect wings, a couple details like wasp eyes and antennae, little pincers/claws/legs underneath. nobody really needs to be anatomically correct, claim it's a mutated semi-sentient dragonfly familiar. whatever, i think that a DRAGONFLY would be the coolest, versatile combat or non-combat pet ever.

i say, dog: done, now give us something for other themes. although if a pug does happen, i wouldnt mind it.

although not for more than 300pts, cuz that shepard cost more than it was worth :/. you cant even name it.

Providing a female-only option with an aesthetic directed towards fanservice and femininity isn't equalising, it's just furthering the idea that men and women must be separate and different.
i think this is a good idea and relevant to the main topic.

although for a carnie MM set [which i feel should be unlocked via some great task as it would be uber awesome] to me would have two strong men and a harlequin fencer as tier 1 pets, ring mistresses as tier 2 pets, and a illusionist as tier 3, with phantom decoy as the extra random power that MMs get, and the usual buffs and attacks based off carnie attacks.

but for other MM's i believe that as for customization and the introduction of female MM pets, alt models - some specific to ingame enemy groups unlocked via badges - would be a great idea to solve this problem. KoA as ninjas or mercs, succubus as demons [along with CoT demons, cold ones too!], spectral/zombies we have plenty of in game zombie alt models... and so on. clockwork of all sorts of variety, some gendered some not. all the same powers just an alt model/skin that can be customized for some sets, per pet [like tier 1 zombie 1: vhaz, tier 1 zombie 2: banished pantheon, tier 1 zombie 3: default].

i dont believe in complete customization for MMs but we should have customization through several alt models that simply change the skins, same powers is a no-brainer. but there is so much potential here. but that's another thread i suppose.

Just helping saving time. These posts always devolve down to their lowest possible denominator fast.

There is no reason no to give women/men items from past they didn't get but there is one big good reason not to ever do it. You can't sell a "all the stuff we probably should have done the first time but are charging you for now" costume package. Well you can but paying for it won't be popular with players.

Some of them could be done as weekly updates though, Head Tatoos are a good example of something you could sell as one of the cheap weekly updates. Tats in general could be an entire new area for COH costumes.

While I'd like female pets I kind of agree with Devs on this one. I know a number of people who only want them so they can dress like Pimps and go around pretending to mistreat them. We get enough of that 12 year old stuff already, we have WoW for all the immature players.

    also important.

but above all, i would like to see the costume pieces listed here ported over as a start, then on to the bigger things like alt and female MM models, and a female huge body type, and no camel-toe on a fem bot and extended mother mayhem boobs [why?! was that really necessary?].

also, explain to me why nightstar -a robot- has boobs, and seige -also a robot and basically the same- isnt even really humanoid. explain. *really*.
