Quote:I vote Serpent Drummer, as He and Silver Cyclone [my main on Exalted] are quite the item :PThis!
We need a few dudes as slutty as folks like Mother Mayhem to equal things out. Typically, I would not support such an idea... but since boob-toons like her aren't going away, the Devs might as well play fair. Also, I think we need at least one GLBT character in-game... I don't think the Lore makes anyone officially fall into that category.
and he could stand to remove his top.maybe replace it with some cool snake tattoos [i.e. his signature power from the trading card game that never went very far].

Quote:i appreciate and agree with your postPeople like you are why men are given negative stereotypes. "Men don't care about the way they look". This is absolute crap.
I like cheesecake too. But unlike you, I am a man that actually cares about how he looks. I go to the gym, I do cardio and lift weights. I go shopping and I enjoy it. I like nice dress shirts, as well as creative graphic tees, designer jeans, a variety of shoes, different coats and suits and accessories. My closet ranges from from sharp and dressy to casually stylish. Because I want to look good.
I am a V.I.P. subscriber too. This does not make me special, nor you. The majority of players here have at least one V.I.P. account. Some friends of mine have two. And as a subscriber, I also pay for the costume options being made. As do all the other V.I.P.'s here. We all have opinions, and I am proud to say mine happen to differ from yours.
This is understandable. What else gets old though, females now getting EVERYTHING that males get AND MORE!
I fully support as many possible costume options for BOTH genders. As well as a Huge Female body type. What I am really getting sick of, is the female costumes getting special treatment. I want more male equivalent costume parts. Give us a long jacket that has the detail and customization of the bolero, with a jacket tail that actually moves. Like that "old and busted" trench coat but with "new hotness" detail and customization. This fallacy that women have more fashion needs is just as insulting to me, as the overly sexy and skimpy outfits are to you.ty.

ummmm
Foreshadow is hawt, no doubt, but I dig the oldschool look of the RWZ warrior known as Serpent Drummer. He and Silver Cyclone are now a celebrity couple, btw. His quiet yet strong demeanor is what won me over. That, and he's a Ginger. XD

YAY! great job everyone, and grats to all -
yaaay i finished in time!
submitted! :PHEW:
im going to go reward myself with something tasty for lunch! -
Here's My Entry!
im not very good with computers so most of my art will probably be scanned images colored on my computer XD
February's Entry: "There's no one else I'd rather have at my side." It shows two heroes' sharing a moment before the onset of a ferocious battle, the likes of which they know they might not survive. Also note, as in my signature, Serpent Drummer is my boyfriend :P. That is all. Enjoy.
the scene: ...In the depths of the RWZ subterranean caverns on an information recovery mission, our two heroes find themselves spotted by a Rikti scout, who immediately calls for reinforcements.
Silver Cyclone: "Serpent?" [looking at Rikti portals]
Serpent Drummer: "Yes?" [counting the mobs spawning]
Silver Cyclone: "You know, we probably wont make it to the Spring Fling..."
Serpent Drummer: [looking at Silver with a small crooked smile] "I know... I even washed my robe... hey Silver?"
Silver Cyclone: "Yeah?"
Serpent Drummer: "I..." [the ground rumbles from the Rikti marching]
Silver Cyclone: "Will you be my Valentine?"
Serpent Drummer: "Silver..." [a huge grin breaks out upon his face] "You know that there's no one else I'd rather have at my side."
Silver Cyclone: [a tear forms] "Let's show these Rikti the strength of the Serpent and the Cyclone."
['Pew! Pew!' go the Rikti guns]
Serpent Drummer: "Lets. YEAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!..."
Silver Cyclone: "HAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!..."

i think world of confusion placed as listed is a good "psi damage aura early in the build"
looks good to me, with the tweaks suggested. and the added confusion of WoC already sets the powerset apart from others.
still, her psi critter would be awesome to have.
and it would be nice if atleast some of the powers had the traditional wobble-psy noise that i have grown a nice love-hate relationship with, if only for synergy with other powers.
penny's power sound fx [and yellow psy-ball] are so different that it hardly *feels* psychic. -
i vote Dink to be the new hero in the Freedom Phalanx! XD yaaaay!
any chance you can find some spare time again to port some female only pieces over to males? [CoL sash, masks, crowns, barbarian crown, regular crowns, bottoms with skin, bracers, tribal spikes belt, long not-anime hair XD] -
Quote::facepalm:Forcing this would be stupid.
No dresses? No skirts? No corsets? So basically everyone gets "male" clothing and has to like it? That's horribly hypocritical of you.
Women have distinct costume looks in comic books and in real life right now. And it's better that way.
I, personally, am of the opinion that there should be gender-specific costume packs (or at least accessory packs like the carnival one), in addition to much larger and more regular costume packs for everyone.
If they want to make a frilly pirate shirt for guys, that's awesome, and they shouldn't have to wait until they have one that works for females too before it gets released. If they have a great idea for a skirt, they shouldn't have to wait until they can make it work for guys too before they release that. If they want to make a Titan weapon that's a giant thing o' lipstick and for whatever reason they decide to make it female-only, that's fine, but there should be back and forth, NOT generic conveyor belt options.
I want fancy, customized, interesting options that cater to my features, not belt-fed costume parts.
clothing doesnt have to be Male or Female.
i did not say "no more female only parts", but rather, more of parts every one can use please. what was annoying is that, while the NPCs limit some parts from the carnie pack to females, there is no reason males cant use the same parts too. and im not asking for anything to be forced on anyone, although i feel like im being force fed a little: sexy women's clothing, when i play almost entirely male toons.
no need to be misquoting.
and ty zyphoidyes, some men are too. deal with it. because some men choose to wear the same gym shorts and t-shirt four days a week doesn't mean i choose to. women do have distinct looks, but so do men, and a lot of those do not include yet another jacket, some of them include tied fabric belts and fancy masks. parts dont have to be effeminate or masculine to work for all three body types, and still be unique to a theme and varied from eachother. the imperial pack is a relatively good example of that.
still, i would like to see some of the fancy trenchcoat tails ported to males. females can wear tuxedo's cant they? why cant my baron wear a fur collared coat or one with a fancy pointed tail?
to me, the belt fed costume parts are the things like "oh, another fitted armor set" like the olympian guard costume. nice pieces but not that distinctive really from other similar fitted armor sets.
also, women already get almost all of the male clothing anyway, and they do like it, enough that they requested that everything be ported over, which is a good idea because everybody should have as much as possible. like males should have that carnie belt and masks, or interesting trench coats, or crowns [tiara equivalents, barbarian types included], or tribal spike belts... plenty that everyone could benefit from.
and Dink does great work that i really appreciate. -
Quote:also, great idea for a loincloth finally! So there is no way to fake it by having portions of the "skirt" appear translucent? thus leaving the striped look?
I thought the above would be a nasty but ok way to so a loincloth style, invisible skirt geo mapped around the legs with a visible front and back.
- Raithmake it happen diiinnkkk!!!
<3
-
i really really appreciate your replies Dink!!!! yay!
still im uber sad it's not an actual skirt with transparent parts thenso sad. i dont like to see my character from the front because of that awkward gap lol.
 and here i was thinking that: because the back had a center flap, the front could too somehow. :'(
i hope the chain mail skirt to satisfy my needs comes out soon! [*yearns for the zombie grave night pet's chain skirt.*] -
Quote:the problem is, it hasnt always been so. men used to be just as fashion savvy, and will be again. there are phases in american culture, and other cultures that fluxuate from one gender expression having all the visual fun as well as being objectified... then it goes back to the other side. This is true, and it has always bothered me. Mainly for the simple fact that in the "real world" women's fashion has always had a better selection of options because (most) men don't care as much. I, on the other hand, care much more than the typical male. I have always been bothered by this bias in life. Now it has bled into my COH as well. But I read not to worry about the females special treatment because there are good things coming. So I suppose I will wait and see. A few male exclusive costume packs would brighten my dull canvas significantly.
still, NO MORE CORSETS and more pieces that everyone can wear. thank you.
great work on the Imperial setbut can males have interesting trenchcoat tails too please? no reason not to port the coats and coat tails.
Women DO NOT have "more costuming needs" than anyone else. since when is someone else's desire to look good more important than mine? i look good and i like looking good and i like having options for looking good. thank you. -
Quote:agreed. masks and sashes, and heck the head/crown pieces too. there is no reason males/huge models cant have them.As someone with no interest in using that mask on anyone, I can't help but think "so?"
It's not like I don't use Barbarian pieces for non-Barbarians, Gunslinger pieces for non-gunslingers (and probably non-whatever other overall concept the set has). I've probably got somebody using something from the magic pack that doesn't use magic!
Being relevant to the theme doesn't require prohibiting things that go in a different direction.
Oddly, I tend to see using a frying pan as a weapon as more a male thing. I guess Iksel really made an impression on me.
Can you clarify as to what the problem is? I just checked my character that has one of those bows, and nothing looks transparent except the veil part. So either I'm just not understanding the problem, or I'm assuming it's the way it's supposed to be, or something...
Definitely endorsing no-veil options though. The bow just looks too good for me not to use it, but it'd work better for that character without the veil.
-Morgan.
like i've said before, if we only wanted to mimic the NPC's exactly then they should have given us an NPC transform power. the point of selling the pieces is to mix and match for player creativity.
so give those items to males.
ALSO, the gunslinger boots for males... can i use them with other lower body options than "pants" please? thank you. ladies can. why cant i?
O_o c'mon y'all... -
Also, as an Incarate and especially of the instant-variety, I would kind of like to see Stheno be... interesting... and powerful... Since Recluse and his rocky relationship with power and the well, and Stheno so close to him location wise...
idk...
make SOMETHING happen plz? spider-snake babies? spiders riding snakes? shooting bees?
anything?
no? they gonna sit by as their source of power is destroyed by an intergalaca-dimensional force? -
Quote:from the wiki:Well, Deities and Incarnates are pretty much seperate things, but I think the Leviathan is the Incarnate of Meluria, isn't it?
Quote:For millennia, a godlike being as old as the cosmos itself floated free across the universe. As the fetid swamps of the Earth’s Cretaceous Period began to recede, this god Merulina crashed into the turbid waters of the expanding Atlantic. Settling into the ocean depths, the deity conjured followers, calling forth the Coralax from the incandescent coral thriving in the warm shallows. Made from coral imbued with Merulina’s divine essence, the first Coralax were Shapers, high priests meant to lead the burgeoning Coralax civilization
Merulina instructed these Shapers, who were psychically connected to the thoughts and feelings of their god, to construct a beautiful city over its body now deeply embedded in the ocean floor. The brilliant multicolor spires and sweeping arches of the city now radiate a luminous aura from the otherwise blackened depths. This city of coral with a god at its heart is the enchanted capital of the Coralax Empire.
In firm control of their watery domain, the Coralax were suddenly thrust into confusion when the god Merulina fell silent. As the Shapers cast about with no god to guide them, the threats from the surface began. With no god to direct them, the Coralax began building watchtowers just off the Earth’s coastlines in order to maintain a vigilant watch over this growing threat from the surface.
...................
It is revealed in Vincent Ross's story arc that Merulina's silence is due to her death. Intrigued by an object crash landing on the mainland, she decided to investigate. She was overcome by a mysterious shadowy figure, and died.
However, it is further revealed that immense power, of the type Merulina wielded, is never lost - only transferred. When Calystix the Shaper summoned forth the Leviathan, the power of Merulina was what truly created and empowered the massive beast (although Calystix did not know the true source of its power).
i would personally like to see more of the wells and incarnates of other races/species. and more involvement of the coralax, and i would also like to know what the "mysterious shadowy figure" she encountered was.
Quote:Bluh... the Lady of the lake _is_ the Well of the Furies, Excalibur, Hero-One, I can't believe I haven't seen that before. Prometheus does say that the Well is/was a person who has chosen to represent the connection of the race in question to a "Higher power"
Isn't it possible that the Riktification process ties them to their benefactors well? Their outlook, society, physical form and powers are much more coherent, while we don't know what their benefactors were like it those seem like they could be symptoms of being tied to another Well.
Maybe that's why the Rikti beat their Batallion, due to not having a "local" Well to be drained, having some remote race that protects it for them. Maybe that's what the Rikti's benefactors were trying to do, spread the power and harmony of their Well far and wide to act as a buffer against the Batallion?
complicated but interesting idea. -
the belt with kilt [celestial belt 2] is the one im talking about. it has 4 flaps and a hole in the middle, while the rear has five flaps [two attatched to each leg's movement and a center attatched to the tailbone equivalent in the model.]
the front though, is missing it's center thingy and it just always looked so awkward to me. but the concept art looks so much better.
in game: [image belongs to Kierthos]
see the difference? XD
but i get that time was an issue. still... that center flap would have made all the difference.
also... i dont like hip pads that are so huge [and they keep giving us hip paads ARGH!!!]. i'd rather protect my... jewels... than my outer thighs. that seems to limit movement, actually... lol
:edit: i just noticed the wings in the concept art. it sure would be nice to get head wings with the feathers actually separated instead of yet another incarnation of the same plate shape. :/ also, some that were a little smaller would be nice. lol but this isnt a request thread huh. mainly i was just confuesd as to why the armor we got differed from the conept art in such a seemingly small yet vital way [center strap!!!!!!!!!!!] and thought time makes sense... it also doesnt since everything else to it is spot on.
 -
Hi!
I wasnt sure where to post this exactly, but i figure folks on here could halp meh
now that i finally unlocked all the celestial armor, and got a peek for myself to compare with the almost spot on concept art:
[img] http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/20...ma-d4ihfod.jpg [/img]
i found that the art has a bow in it, a shield in it, and the belt w/kilt has a center flap that makes it look SO MUCH LESS AWKWARD compared to the live version.
how come these were removed from the final costume and pack? these three pieces would have made it my favorite costume set in game evar. might the bow/shield have been made then held off to be sold later as a special bonus market only item? [which i doubt cuz it will be rotated out and at a later point in time back into the T9 rewards.]
also, can we get a kilt option with the center flap? it looks so much better... O_O
also note, the lady sample has shoulder piece on one shoulder.
[yes i know concept art and final in game execution are two different things... but why no bow or shield?!?!!? :'(] -
oh yes!
i wanted to add an idea/suggestion to the flight/path/body aura suggestion:
*WHIRLWIND* aura: [which must be one of the few flight only ideas XD] should have the options: always whirlwinding, movement only[running and flying], flight only, and running only.
thank you -
Quote:ive wanted this too since it came out.Cyborg Aura: A.C.C.A.H.U.D.
Could this "sort of thing" be ... extended ... into being a Full Body Hologram "armor" using the body layer tech that Victorian Decor is made from? Basically making a "high tech" sort of Victorian Decor that holographically projects "body armor" around the entire body, when In Combat?
ALSO, i would want this same aura [with multi body holograms] as a sort of "full body option" or "multi parts all over body option" for shield defense for meelee secondaries/tank primary. instead of just the fore arm based shields.
O_O eh?
yes to flight only path auras.a couple would be great!!!

Quote:well that's not what they and i mean. the MM set gives us 4 command-able wolves [which is still a little overkill] and they make great purposeful uses of the rigs beyond cosmetics. yay canine rig! also the travel power is pretty awesome except that you cant attack. i'd have been perfectly fine with glitchy looking attacks if it meant i could still use my powers. [my coralaxe costume change power for example, blasts from its foot :P but that's a different conversation]yeah so awful having a canine pet in a usable power set when we've already had an easter egg in a limited time trial, a vanity pet, and a cosmetic travel power. ******* those devs for giving us a canine rig that has actual use in the game.
buuuut the troller set pet is a WOLF in a DARKNESS set. kinda jarring and limiting for a lot of folks' planned themes. that wasnt neccessary :/ and if it was, it didnt have to be so obvious of a port as it is.
they have done a lot of amazing hard work that i, and many players reaaaallly appreciate. but that one... decision... is one of a handful lately that are bothersome. -
Quote:/signed on a giant umbral spider. same attacks as the wolf-beast, but simply using the spider rig, or arachnoid rig. would be SO MUCH BETTER, especially if it's an option.Exactly how I feel about it too.
The Umbra Beast will not look 'unlike anything else in the game'. Not in an issue where we've got Wolf Mastery and Uberluck Black Wolf adding to the German Shepherds in game. Of all the pets, why another damned dog?
Of all the ideas they could have used for the Tier 9, surely a Giant Spider with a murky aura on it would have been more thematic? Some shadowy arachnid crawling from the depths of our nightmares... it's not like they don't already have the rig or haven't used it for the revamp of Dark Astoria.
It's laziness like this that has really disappoints me and has taken my excitement for Dark Control from "HELL YEAH! WANT IT NOW!" to "Ah ok, when you're ready I guess". -
"Umbra Beasts also have the added benefit of looking unlike anything else in City of Heroes' game world! They're truly unique."
Quote:my thoughts exactly.Except they look like the Wolf we had in the Haunted House, the German Shepherd pet, and the Coyote travel form. Still not digging having a dog as the tier 9, and wouldn't mind having the option of, say, Fluffy or something in addition to the dog. Especially with Dog Mastery coming down the line, soon.
Rest of the write up looks solid, though.
it looks IDENTICAL to all the other canine rigs. more so if you try to use light colors to customize it. because that's all it is. with a dark aura tacked on. this bothers me so much, and the phrasing in the Intrepid Informer just makes it more annoying. i don't see why, if the animate stone can be customized how it is, we couldn't have SIMPLE alt models for it... that aren't so IDENTICAL to the wolves. and so many people spoke up about it... not to remove the dog, but to make at least a not-so-obviously-a-wolf model. you can even still use the new rig. just make the dog part invisible and give us a four legged fluffy. or add an option with horns and a snake/organic armor tail.
ANYTHING ELSE really. i know y'all arent lazy but this really felt like it.
such a turn off to an otherwise impeccably awesome set.
