    I had the British Museum dinosaur models, there was a clear distinction in design in the models molded after a certain year.

    Dinosaur skeletons have been found with feathers? Except for archaeopteryx, can't say I've heard much about all that.

    Dinosaurs having feathers is the new "cool" speculation. Last time I heard they were all allegedly sporting wildly striped and spotted skins. I think we can safely say that these theories are just that: theories. People sitting around blueskying, keeping the grant-money flowing.
    the dinosaurs that had scaly skin were: ornithischians [hadrosaurs, stegosaurs, ceratopsians[though they did have tail quills], and ankylosaurs] and sauropods. entire mummified bodies of hadrosaurs [duck-bills anyone?] have been found with preserved skin impressions and hints of patterns i believe.

    buuutttttt... actually quite a few theropods have been found with feathers. a LOT from china [great quarries there] especially in the mid-90's further proving one of the long held main theories. again, i work at a dinosaur exhibit, and have worked in a paleontology laboratory, and frequently read up about these things . i'm not an expert or anything but... oh wait... i am at work, my name tag says so, and i get paid for it XD. hehe [...i hope that doesnt sound snobby. it's supposed to be more funny than anything. pfft. me! an expert! on anything! lmao...]

    it's a fact [theropods ~ feathers]. it has been for a long time. speculation? maybe forty years ago. but it has been widely accepted by some paleontologists for decades. google some articles . recently, the color of some feathers of some dinosaurs have been uncovered via some sort of x-ray and chemical deduction business.

    also, think about it, lots of mutant-humanoid critters exist in all sorts of comics. the point of releasing sets with PARTS is to mix and match with or against the theme of the set itself. feathered raptor or spiked stegosaurus tails would be great on an asian-dragon character.

    Spielberg was making a movie. for profit. they did consult with paleontologists, and one in particular [he-who-shall-not-be-named] has been marked forever by ok'ing the dilophosaurus as-was and other things. they knew when dilophosaurus was discovered that it had no frill and didnt spit poison. the movie wasnt exactly to the book, no movie is. poison or not, they stuck up a lot of things about dinos that were wrong. i.e. T-Rex had excellent vision and if you didn't run... you'd be chicken nuggets.

    but true, the movie was just that. a movie. also, based on a book. Crichton was a great author.

    shrug anyway my main point of the post is that:

    i heards rumors of the pack, and ah wants feathers in it.

    As a Pansy, i take offense to that. and no... when you find lots and lots of dinosaur skeletons with feathers... you kinda have to start telling people about it. you know... the whole "surprise, the earth is round and revolves around the sun" thing wasn't the first idea people had but it sure makes a lot more sense.

    But they did pull an crocodile head and other reptile parts from the animal pack - it was listed in the patch notes, but then changed very quickly, and any posts quoting it also disappeared.

    As it was over a year ago, that seems like quite a long time to hold them back for a 2nd animal pack - so it's possible that they could be keeping them back because they're connected to some larger bit of content.

    also note: ornithischians and sauropods were in fact, scaly... or skinned like an elephant. so, that is to say, non-theropods, were scaly. scaly still fits with dino's y'all, calm down.

    but theropods and raptors had feathers.

    i've suggested a million times to have the alt-model of faction-skins for the MM pets to be unlocked by various badges tied to the various groups.

    not everything has to be part of the market :P but it probably will be now.

    but alt models linked to badges, like alt weapon models, i've always considered a good idea and to make sense . kill enough knives of artemis and some of them will go rogue and follow you. kill enough banished pantheon zombies and you'll know how to summon those corpses in particular... and so-on [CoT demons, Tsoo for ninjas, destroyers for thugs...].

    i'd like the ports to go both ways, personally

    make my MM a little more interesting.

    there really needs to be a whole new slew of powers customizations.

    i dont know why street justice didnt have options when it came out, and dark control didnt have a couple hand options for things like the fear cone and what not.... and why there wasnt an option for a NOT-WOLF pet. ugh. people have been asking for these things for a while, and with plenty of time to make it happen... maybe... O_o

    i think what you're mentioning was the third refrence and oldest of the three that i'd seen, but couldnt recall when i was making my OP. perhaps Golden Girl will see the thread and comment to support or destroy my claims but i think it was mentioned briefly at a dev-player organized interaction of some sort.

    but my memory is so hazy O_O and im at work and have to pee but my replacement hasnt shown up so that's all i can think about. :cry:

    i cant remember which thread eactly but i believe it was Golden Girl who mentioned it had been leaked at a pummit or something, and then when someone asked on the freedom friday facebook thread, the CoH facebook reply was something to the effect of a "i cant talk about that because it's totally happening and youre not supposed to know giggle giggle giggle".     and technically... dinosaurs have *always* had feathers,quils, osteoderms and fuzz, but only within the last forty years has it been confirmed from numerous scientific discoveries, and been growing in the educated awareness. i work at a dino exhibit and worked in a paleo lab, so im used to facts all the time and thought it would be nice if the upcoming costume pack had a little of the real thing for inspiration. almost all theropods [two legged carnivores] have been confirmed to have freathers, protofeathers, and fuzz. think: Archaeopteryx disc. 1861 [ point at which feathers first attributed to dinos ]. spielberg did a real disservice to people everywhere. we might as well call a dino pack with that sort of dilophosaurus details a 'dragon pack'.


    dinos didnt look like giant iguanas, but a lot of people who are only exposed to popular culture think that when they come in to the exhibit, and ask if we have a godzilla skeleton XD

    i politely say "no, we do not."

    his has always bothered me. the game is SO not religiously sanitized. only in words but not in-game critters.

    plenty of hellish critters, and there could reasonably be anti-hell celestial angelic beings. angels are anti-demons [or the other way around]. call them celestial to avoid the 'religious' term of angel. make them combine hyper tech with their wings, weapons, powers or whatever instead of just mystical.

    celestial summoning as a MM powerset would fill a lot of gaps and could be done without stepping on any religious toes, in the eact same sense that demons are summoned from the ground via rune circles... and the Cot has hellfrosts.



    but about the netherworld. ive always imagined it as the inverse-universe/phantom-zone mentioned. too bad the inverse univers has the same stupid wolf rig that im already sick of and beast mastery isnt even out yet.

    call me bitter but id atleast expect options. XD

    While not outright revealed, there have been plenty of hints about an upcoming Dino Costume Pack. If we're lucky there will be some mods of the four legged rig and bipedal mods to have some actual dinos running around in a Ouro-time-stream mission or two, or as a pet in the future. [Dinosaur Summoning anyone? XD]

    ANYWAY, i was speculating in my head some of the things that might be in such a pack and... as someone who is an amatuer paleontologist myself for a couple decades now, and currently working at an actual dinosaur exhibit in texas, i was getting quite excited. I hope that, while satisfying the need for prehistoric monstrous pieces, they would also hold to some anatomical correctness.



    main points:

    *theropod dinosaurs [two legged carnivores] didnt have bunny hands that hung down, but rather the hands and fingers faced inward toward eachother.

    *dilophosaurus neither had a fril, nor did it spit venom. jurrassic park spead so many lies.

    *most theropods had feathers, especially the little ones [velociraptor, for example had feathered hands like mini wings, and lots of tail feathers.].

    *birds are dinosaurs technically, sooooo this would be a great opportunity to give us a bird tail and a feathered body option or feathered wrist and boot details.


    although im sure the devs will make something fantastic and i'll adore it, it would be nice if there was a little research on their part as to what dinosaurs really looked like, a quick wikipedia and google search is more than enough . though it is a superhero game, and therefore somewhat fictional/fantastic... :shrug: I would really like to see nice long thick fat tails would be super, spiked, plated, clubbed. stegosaurus back plate details. new monstrous legs, monstrous heads im sure, and hopefully, a new set of wings or two. [pterosaur based and microraptor based [feathered with clawed fingers!]]. a cool idea would be a head frill hair detail so it could be used with other costume options...like horns , unlike the latest animal heads which cant be customized very much.

    ok well you can at least be as big as a zeus class titan indoors as... they do spawn indoors.

    :P that is still a reasonable growth spurt to make the fx fun and who doesnt love a +max HP, +dmg buff?



    and if the devs feel like making a new mechanic with stages of growth and increased buffs or time limits or whatever, you can be "up to stage X indoors and stage Y outdoors and stage Z in dimensions like the shadow shard and ourobouros."

    :EDIT: i realize i am basically repeating whats already been said BUT i would like to illustrate that there is indeed a large number of players who want and understand the situation. DEVS, HALP US OUT!


    they said no to new rigs like these because it would require new animations for all the poses, emotes, powers, etc.

    but lots of the emotes work semi ok for the non-bipedal rigs [like snakes]. and i'm ok with the emotes that have lower body effects simply not firing if i can have a snake bottom. and i'm ok with having rigs like "snake monstrous bottom" to be somehow unavailable if i have "martial arts" as my powerset, or making the powers auto switch to having a punching animation.


    my coralax NPC transform power shoots energy beems from it's foot. sooooo i dont see how any other silly outcomes make a difference.




    still, most likely they wont give us new rigs cuz that means new work on already-finished things. and they prefer to give us entirely new things :/

    :shrug: so maybe hope for some more affect self only de-toggling shape shifting powers at best.

    would this be the place to ask for the port of the Barbarian female Bikini to Male/Huge body types? I like the leather look, and it would be a nice alternative to "bare", and should be an easy tweak as it's a tight skin option. [need more bottoms with skin for males!!!]

    State's really has a disappointingly flat crotch. it's emasculating. O_O it doesnt need to be huge or detailed or anything... but it's like... so FLAT it's almost concave.

    Mother Mayhem has more going on down there.

    it freaks me out every time i look at it. which is sad because the rest of the image is amazing.

    lol. with me, deadlines have always been deadlines... and a simple viable explanation always seemed enough to make a reasonable exception for a miniscule extension for a particular deadline.



    it usually takes me longer than two minutes to log in to CoH haha because i have a slow computer and im a slow loader and i type with one finger, so if i'd started running CoH and logging on in february i very well may not have "zoned" til march XD.



    by this i mean... i don't mind the extra competition , in fact it only challenges me to try harder next time. i say let it count.



    but i respect DD's decision as well and deadlines are deadlines and timestamps are many people's bane. 'member how i prematurely freaked out for january's deadline? lol

    agreed. um... but maybe no robin williams option O_O and add a decent tattoo'ed option or two.

    you dont know how many time's ive tried to use the circle emblem blend chest pattern on a slightly off skin-color to try to mimic decent chest hair... and it doesnt really work too well but i live with it because its all i got right now, and i mostly see my character's back.

    these chest options for males would be appreciated, as well as more of the bottoms with skin that females get. that one "bare" option is... ok... but females have what, three or four underwear like options, and plenty of with-skin options that could be easily ported over to males to match potential top options.
