Does this mean that characters get a free respec in order to free up power selections currently used by Health and Stamina?
-
Quote:Mine is similar. It cost around 600 mil + 200 merits. Here is the build i am currently running. It is pretty expensive but it preforms very well. All 3 defenses are soft capped and 50% hp bonus and 60% recharge.
Major differences with mine:
- no superjump
- no jacobs ladder
- no grant cover
- only 1 LOTG7.5
- Chain induction: 3 perf shifter includes +end, 3 Sciro D, includes lethal dmg
- thunderstrike: 5 Sciro D, includes lethal dmg, Forcefeedback +rech
- One w the Shield
- Darkest Night
This is my main farmer up to +4 x8 depending on mob. It tanks well in ITF and RSF.
My 2nd build is for lowbie SFs and includes jacobs ladder, stealth and invis. -
Toss in Darkest Night for more survivability. Just watch out for Nemesis...

Quote:Indeed. If you don't touch the market or AE, you can be quite poor. I was lucky that I subbed during Winter Events and made at least 5 mil on each toon selling candy canes. That gave me enough to get lvl 20+ IOs. I was also lucky enough to get invited to Dark Kingdom whose base had 10 IO tables which I had access to as a member. I returned most of the IOs that I took from the tables when I did a respec.Of course, when my first char hit the mid 20s a few weeks ago - and I suddenly needed 900,000 for SOs, I was like... "Omigosh? How am I supposed to afford that?" Unless someone clues you in to what you can do with AE tickets, or the market... you can feel quite poor for a few weeks!
From time to time, I stop by Mercy and Port Oakes and give new players some infamy. (IE, those with no vet badges) -
I have tried this.
Day 1: exchange 50 merits + 20 mil = 1st A-merit
Day 2: exchange 50 merits + 20 mil = 2nd A-merit, exchange 2 A-merits for recipe.
From a marketeer point of view, said recipe should net at least 140 million in profit. Anything less, it's better to roll at the Merit vendor. However, this assumes 1 merit = 1 million.
Villain side time to merit:
Silver Mantis SF: 42 merits/1 hr
3rd respec: 15 merits/0.5 hr
Total: 57 merits/1.5 hrs
Other merit options:
ITF: 24 merits/0.5-1 hr
Renault: 24 merits/1 hr
Deathsurge: 2 merits/0.2 hr
Total: 51 merits/1.7-2.2 hrs
Basically, it is possible to earn 50 merits for 2 hrs of play for those without GR. -
I didn't have my own base at first, and kept salvage and IOs in the VG's base. But after someone stole stuff from the bin with leader permission only, I made my own base. I didn't want to make one at first because I would lose access to the coalition chat and miss out on teams and SFs. However, the extra storage and security with having my own base won out. I just have a couple of toons in my own VG and only log on to them when I need to store stuff.

Here are a few suggestions. For both hero and villains, create a character that can heal and add it to your search comment:
"Trial player - please send invite, can't use tell, healer"
Teams gladly welcome healers and will go out of the way to look for them.
For villains on trial accounts, you can try to get jet pack in Grandville with 10000 infamy. This will help you get around faster.
To get to Grandville, take the helicopter near Kalinda in Mercy to Grandville. From the Grandville platform, go up a ramp to the main road. Go north toward the giant statue. At the foot of the statue, there is a jetpack quartermaster. Click on him and buy Raptor pack. Open your Powers window and look for the Raptor pack under temporary powers. Drag it to your power tray.
One way to get enough money is to sell the inspirations that you get from Breakout at the Black Market. You get 1 damage (red) and 1 heal (green). Upon arriving in Mercy, go to Grandville as described above. From the helicopter, go to ferry which is marked with a (F) on the map. Enter the ferry and pick Cap Au Diable. At Cap Au Diable, run toward a big truck. That's the black market.
At the black market, click on a seller with a name that starts with Shady. Drag your inspirations into the black market window and click find. Post your inspirations at a price based on the past history sell prices. If it doesn't sell right away, do some missions and come back. Hopefully, both will sell to make you at least 10000 infamy.
The 2nd option is to beg. At the Cap black market, say that you would like 10000 to buy a jetpack. Look as pitiful as possible and even use the panhandle emote. Eventually, someone will give you money. With 10000 infamy in hand, take the ferry to Grandville.
Getting the jetpack will take about 5 mins, but in the long run, it saves you travel time while you're going from mission to mission and flies you out of range of enemies.
To go back to Mercy, take ferry to Grandville and from Grandville, the helicopter to Mercy North. -
I also suggest joining the radio freedom channel, RF2009. People chat a lot over there.
-
I agree with the previous posts of running -1x8 (if possible). It's less xp per kill, but you compensate by killing at lot in a short time. You also finish missions faster which translates to more mission complete bonus per hour.

Very good guide! I see you kept a lot of notes.
I just want to add one more suggestion for :
- If you note that a specific IO is extremely expensive in your set, look and see if you can grab a different one for a lot less.
Model your build in Mids. Do not make the build right away. Instead, go to the market and look up the sets in the build. If the set is out of your budget, then replace with a cheaper set of similar bonuses.
Start slotting your character at level 1!
- Use the time you spend leveling to bid on expensive IOs you know you will use.
Also, if you start collecting IOs for the build but your toon is too low to slot them yet, make your own base and store your IOs there instead of using up a market slot or keeping it in your tray. An enhancement table can hold 100 IOs which is enough to slot 2 toons. If you are in a VG with other people in it, DO NOT put your IOs in their table. People assume it's free and will take it. -
Congrats Savos!
I would not even guess that high. I tend to be cheap, so it wouldn't occur to me. My cheapest but decent build is my lv 50 rad/kin who cost 300 million and wears the title, Master of Lord Recluse Strike Force.
Neat experiment and I look forward to your guide. -

Quote:I made my own base, put some toons in it and bought 5 enhancement tables and 10 salv bins. Each enh table holds 100 IOs. Each bin holds 30 salv.I use alts to hold stuff for future use on lower level toons I am working on.
I am considering holding stuff on OTHER SERVERS just to make room or have more room.
1 enh table is dedicated to market stuff. Anything ready to be sold is placed in that bin.
The other enh tables are for keepers. 3 contain lvl 50 IOs and Hamis and the last is for lowbie IOs for SF builds.
The most IOs in my market table was around 80. In general, it's in the low 30s. I move around 20-30 IOs a day.
To help earn prestige for your 'storage' base, have a brute farmer in it. Hope this helps. -
Assuming you will malfactor as low as 25 for the Silver Mantis SF, then your highest IOs should be a maximum of level 28 in order for them to be activated while malfactored. There are 4 Villain SFs at level 33 and below, so IOs 34 and higher won't be useful.
The most expensive item on there is LOTG 7.5, which averages around 100 mil. Since you have 5 of them, the minimum guess is at least 500 mil.
However, I will put faith in your cheap-fu, and guess that you can get them at 80 mil each.
EDIT: My 2nd build is a lowbie build for SFs, and while building it, I also noticed that there's much less IOs at lvls 20-30. I chalk it up to low supply since lvl 50 IOs have the most profit, so not a lot of people are locking their toons at low levels. Most people are in the hurry to get to 50.
I wish you luck:

I'd like a temp pwr that gives you a bonus for a rare recipe drop. This stacks on top of any day job or accolade bonuses.
I want a mutant ray gun temp pwr that will morph part of another toon's outfit. For example, I shoot the ray gun at a bunny, the bunny grows an afro and afro remains there for 10 mins.
I want a title scrambler power that changes the title on somebody else's toon to something silly. Instead of Nefarious Nick, it will say Wimpy Nick after being hit by the scrambler and the effect lasts 10 mins.
I'd like to be able to use the enhancement tray like inventory to carry 'charms'. For example, you give Miracle Sxxd to a Grass Pxkemxn, and the all its grass powers are stronger. The charms are like regular IOs, but you don't have to slot them and you can even transfer it to another toon. Charms could enhance like 1% of something or give a bigger enhancement but reduce something else. For example, +2% defense/-1% damage.
EDIT: while I'm dreaming, I'd like a porta-Vault temp pwr that opens a window to your vault even in a mission. -
LOL! Fairy Wings!
But wow! This is pretty fascinating stuff. Thanks all who indulged my curiousity.
I can only imagine how exciting it was when the market and IO sets were introduced. -
Soul and get Darkest Night. My friend invites me to the Monster Island north of Grandville and we fight the mushroom monster (Stratopea or something... can't remember...) I activate Darkest night and we spam attacks like crazy. Then I get a cell call so while I talk, my brute just stands there while the monster is stomping like crazy. My corr friend is getting tossed around due to knockback. My combat log shows something like: xxx has 6% chance to hit, rolls 81. MISSES! (rinse, repeat, while I talk.) However, DN is an endurance hog. Make sure to slot for end redux.

-1 x8 or +0 x8. I try to go for xp/min. If an enemy takes too long to kill, it's less xp. Also, each mission complete gives bonus xp, so the more missions I complete in 30 mins, the more xp I get.
For farms to help level friends, I do +2 x8. -
In the spirit of my VG leader, I'd like to plan another batch of SF madness on Sunday, 9/26!
The first one, Virgil's, will start at approximately 8 am pacific time or 11 am eastern time. There will be a 5-10 minute break in between SFs. Except for the respec trials, budget around 1 hr for each SF. For trials, budget around 30 mins. -

Quote:Not if said toon doing the salvage roll is only lvl 8, who doesn't have access to bronze 35 recipes. ;DA complete waste of tickets.
For the 'price' of those rolls you could get 3 or so Bronze recipes rolls in the 35-39 range, with a potential worth in the tens of millions.
But I agree that if the toon could roll bronze 35, then rolling for recipes is better. So my lowbies roll salvage when needed and my 50s roll recipes. -
Hi All! I joined after i16 went out, so I'm experiencing all the benefits of all the issues and can't imagine what it was without it. So, I'm curious... when the market was introduced, did folks have billions hoarded and ready to spend? Just wondering how inf was pumped to create the economy now. Some questions come to mind:
- Did devs hop in and buy stuff to spread inf around? -
I've encountered threads in this forum by folks who suggest the strategy of buy for 10 or 100 infamy and sell for 15000. If that's not price fixing, I don't know what is. I can link the thread when I remember where I saw it.
