In that case, next time I join, I'll offer to lead the crack team, ie, 50s who don't need xp, or anyone who wants the badge quickly. The goal will be to finish it under 1 hr or less.
After the Silver M, if there's enough interest, we'll bang out Renault and/or Tarikoss as well. That should give us 66+ merits in 2 hrs. -
Quote:My team did about the same time, 8 people. Leader was a warshade. 3 death challenge failed at the last mission so prolly around 5-6 deaths since I wasn't tracking it closely.26 deaths. 1 hr, 27 minutes.
Good job all!
Team three: Revenant of War, Poppie Pepper, Ragypt, Alchemist Rockbell, Scruffy Muffy, and Myred
The other team was about 1 hr, 48 mins.
Also, I was not aware that this was being run for xp. IMHO, it is better to run fast papers for xp. (I'm excluding AE. Why sub for a game to play purposely gimped enemies?)
SFs tend to have more difficult enemies but don't award as much. I did this on Sat. and Sun. for 1 hr. In the same amount of time, the teams could finish Silver Mantis and run 1 or 2 papers for xp.
May I suggest stating in the post that the SF is being run for xp? That way folks know that it is going to take 1.5 to 2 hours and can decide whether to join or not. -
Plz sign me up as Voltez Y, 50 brute. I can lead as well. My best time is 35 mins on a team of 4 and 50 mins on a team of 8.
Thanks. -

I'm doing field crafter too. Even if I list the IOs way cheap, I figure that it will help the ones that need it most. Sort of a public service.
-
I have done Sciro, Scorpion and GW for different toons.
Short summaries:
Black Scorpion - easiest. He only looks tuff.
GW - medium difficulty. There's a reason why Statesman Task Force targets her first. She will mez you crazy if you give her a chance.
Sciro - more difficult. A lot more AVs than Scorpion and Widow with 1 goddess thrown in. Involves breaking her barrier.Sciro is no pushover either. If you have a shield brute, you get a shield unlocked.
I have done Mako's font mish with a friend. Unless you can stealth to the end, you end up fighting tons of coralax. Also known as the mish of debt. I recommend KB protection.
If you want to speed thru and unlock epic, go Black S. Otherwise, GW or Sciro. -
I have lost IOs thru email. How it happened:
Send to self stuff, get stuff & reply to self with stuff, get stuff & reply to self with stuff...
Each reply adds to the message body. When the message body exceeds 256 characters, the next reply email has a chance to get lost. To prevent this bug from biting you, I suggest keeping the message body short.
After I practiced this rule, I have not lost an IO.
Good thing they're refunding it for ya, Eris.
Altho I'm amused why they question where it came from given that you've been playing this game for so long and had so much time to build up to the cap. -
I have an elec/shield that I use for lvl 20-40 strike forces. I have it slotted with lv 20-28 red fortune sets and it can solo a mob of Tsoo, council and sky raiders fairly well with an occasional luck and heal.
This particular build doesn't have tough and weave but has combat jumping for 3% def. I opted for stealth and invis to bypass mobs. -
Quote:Agreed. When did Supes start flying? At first, he was only able to jump real far. Did Spidey start his career fighting Venom and the like, or did he work his way up to it? It is not out of context for a character to evolve as they go along, the precedent is in the comics themselves.
If we define a super as someone who can do something that a normal person CAN'T do. Normal people can't fly (even if said fly power is slower than a champion bicyclist, but still IS Flying). Normal people can't freeze someone, etc. So, even if the power is weak, it still qualifies as a super power. Consider a ice hold. For a machine to do the same thing takes a lot of energy and time versus a lvl 1 dom's hold activation time.
As for flying, it's 2010 and we're still using cars instead of personal jetpacks for travel.
Basically, it seems to me, all relative to a certain perspective. If the definition of a super is a level 10 toon being able to solo 50 bad guys at the same time at his level and win, then this game doesn't deliver that. If one has certain ideas of what super is, best to post one's thoughts or complaints in the developer's forum and hope that someone is listening. -
Quote:LOL! Good pt!As for in game traveling, when do players in WOW get mounts these days?
Me neither and I own a N64 Superman game. It's really bad. The game nerfs his superpowers. Heck, a brute with fly can do better. -
If you really want to raise the price, buy up all the stock and keep 100. Sell the rest at the quartermaster. Then sell the 100 for 200k, 500k, etc. Keep lowball bids to snipe other people's low sell prices, ie, those who are dumping for 1 inf.
Soon, other sellers will follow suit and price their salvage to match yours.
100 @ 200k = 20 mil, 100 @ 500k = 50 mil
I don't do this btw, but I know other people who do. -
I'm a villain player myself and only have one hero toon. I decided to slot my scrapper before i18 and was shocked at the hero market on Freedom. It was very inflated.
Vill white salv = 1-1000 inf vs Hero white salv = 10000 - 100000 inf
Vill yellow salv = 5000-50000 inf vs Hero yell salv = 200000-500000 inf. Yes, half a mill
In some cases, there wasn't even ANY Hero salv to buy. 0!
Then came the recipes:
Vill uncommon recipes: 1-10000 inf vs Hero uncommon recipes: 1000000
So I said, forget it, and decided not to slot my scrapper.
If I had any concerns about the market merge, it was to see inflated Heroside prices creep into villain side. 2 months later, I don't see this and am happy with the merge and the email system. -
So, let's assume players can get Superman type powers. If a toon was like Superman or Capt Marvel, then you'd be more or less godlike and can pretty much defeat anything that's not kryptonite. 1 minute smash, bam, boom. Everything dead. Rinse and repeat. Where's the challenge?
IMHO, the game tries to simulate low to mid-level super types such as Batman, Wolverine and those wacky supers from Mystery Men. They're not gods and can be overwelmed by sheer numbers or powerful weapons. You develop your super toon from scratch and try to overcome anything thrown at you with your wits and powers.
If you have any ideas about how you could be more super, I suggest posting in the Developer's forum and maybe, just maybe, the devs can accomodate your ideas. -
For villains, you can buy the jetpack in Grandville for only 10k at ANY level, even lvl 1. If you plan on making a new toon, just send yourself 10000, make a new toon and go to Grandville: PO Ferry->Cap Au Diable Ferry->Rogue Isles Ferry->Grandville. If you are level one, I suggest swimming to the ferry instead of running through town. If you don't have enough money, ask nicely and usually someone will give you 10000.
In Grandville, go toward the giant statue and the Jetpack quartermaster is standing in front of it.
FYI, on heroside, the jetpack sold in Pocket D is useless. It lasts 2 mins and is disabled for low level toons.
I have tried several types of Doms, and your powerset is one that didn't work for me. I leveled it to 20 and deleted it.
Have you visited the Dominator forum? Folks have posted many useful guides there. -
I'm fairly new and learned the ropes from a nice lv 30 stalker who invited me when I was on trial account. Since then, it seemed to me that folks just don't want to lead. I usually form a team and as soon as I broadcast 'forming a team', I get requests to join. When I ask folks via tell if they want to come, 70% say yes. Most of the time I'm on, I'm usually leading the team. My guess why:
1) folks want to be able to quit whenever they want
2) don't want to spend the time looking and asking people to come
3) don't want to bear the blame if things go wrong
I was on Triumph which is a low population server and I still managed to fill a team with 8. -
Hey DK'ers and friends, bring out your toons and get ready for more SF madness this weeked, 10/16 and 10/17! Why 2 days? It's usually Sunday, but other folks expressed interest, but couldn't make it Sunday.
The first one, Renault's, will start at approximately 9 am pacific time or 12 pm eastern time. I am starting with Renault since completing the SF grants you a temp power which can be used in later SFs.
There will be a 5-10 minute break in between SFs. Budget around 1 hr for each SF. For trials, budget around 30 mins to 1 hr.
Please let me know which day and which SF you would like to join in so I can get a headcount.
See y'all this weekend!
SF Lineup:
Temple of the Waters SF:
Level Range: 25-30
The Beast Beneath the Mountain SF:
Level Range: 15-20
Pirates of the Sky SF:
Level Range: 20-25
1st Respec Trial:
Level Range: 24-33
2nd Respec Trial:
Level Range: 34-43
3rd Respec Trial:
Level Range: 44-50
The Crystal of Seraphina SF:
Level Range: 35-40
Times Arrow SF:
Level Range: 35-50
Some useful Temp pwrs:
1) Kinetic Dampener - toggle, 30 mins of use, increase def/res. Useful for trials.
2) Hand grenade
3) Stun grenade
4) Plasmatic taser
5) Envenomed dagger - great for debuffing AVs
Most DK bases have empowerment stations that can buff for 1 hr with some inf and salvage. -
I'd prefer a bar that goes to '11', ie 110%, to indicate the effects of 100% fury + frenzy. It's all an illusion actually, since the devs can animate it however they like. But it sure stokes the ego to see if top off.

My job is used to fund my hobbies, so there's a balance between how much I need to work in order to enjoy what I like to do. If I have to work overtime, but for more pay, I would prefer another job that requires less of my time but still good nuff to fund my hobbies.

Quote:A lot of RP is on Virtue, but that doesn't mean RPs can't do it on other servers. You can spot an RPer easily when you see their chat which includes (( )) or [ ] :Wondering if someone could tell me the different RP servers so I can avoid them or are they listed in one of the websites that some of you guys pointed out to me.
(( Lv 20 brute lft ))
That means that the player is speaking out of character. Chat without the (( )) means that the player is in character and their speech is tailored to the personality that they are playing. For example, if the player is a pirate, he might say suggest pulling some enemies from a big mob. Usually, a non-RP player would say:
Let's pull.
The pirate player would say:
Arr, me maties, thar be many o' em. What say ye that I throw this here barrel and lure some over? Then we jump em.
I myself have roleplayed as a cybernetic villain (Mastermind with Robots). My powerset includes thermal shields. If I buff you, I will say:
Configuring firewall for <your name>.
If you die, then I can resurrect you:
Initiating reboot for <your name>. Click Accept.
If I self destruct before I level, I will tell the team not to resurrect me:
System restart in a few cycles. Will resume normal operation.
I don't mind if an RPer is on the team. If they're good, the chat is kinda interesting. I care more about that they are able to team well.
If you haven't done so, check out the guide about teaming while on trial accnt on the forums so you can find teams that can invite you.
I'm on Freedom around 8 - 12 pm PST. If you want to play a villain, make a Vill on Freedom, name it Lord BlueMyth. If you're on when I'm online, I can show you around. -
On Freedom, Villain side, I recruit in all zones but will do Cap Au Diable more often than others. For teams and SFs, I prefer to run with the coalition instead of random folks because I have an idea of how some coalies play and can adjust my playstyle to the team. I also learn which coalies underperform or are disruptive, so if I am leading a SF, I can politely decline to invite them.
<shameless ad>
If you need a vill group, I can invite you to Dark Kingdom or Shadow Souls, both of which are in the top 100 and are active.
<end shameless ad> -
If you have enough debuff with Dark Melee, then I suggest getting more hi-dmg attacks or more defense/buff. I've used Soul and Pyre. One of Soul's best features is a to-hit debuff and another AOE. Pyre has a defense debuff and AOEs with decent dmg. I would pick Soul over Pyre because if they can't hit you, you have more time to take them down.
-
I have a rad/kin. It is more of a team toon rather than a solo toon. It doesn't do too much damage by itself. However, its debuff/kinnage is really valued in a team. As soon as I put rad/kin in my search comment, I get tells everyday for ITF, RSF, Baracuda, AE, and tv libs farms. Sometimes I even get tells while I'm doing a SF, and if I'm almost done with the current SF, the next team will actually wait for me. I got this toon to level 50 about a month and a half ago and it has accumulated 1500+ merits because of all the SFs he's done.
On farms, I don't need to take the aggro and I also get a chance for drops. I've gotten 2 purples and a LOTG7.5 in farms that I was invited to.
I spent about 300 mil to outfit him and he currently wears the title Master of Lord Recluse Strike Force.
If you don't mind being support, which I don't, then rad/kin is a decent combo. -

I got 1 yesterday, Vill 3rd respec, team of 4, Malta. Hecatomb
Last 2 from doing Cimerora Sis Arlia's mission. About 10 missions. 1 Confuse, 1 Immob
