  1. There are 20 Levels, and an additional 4 Ranks per level. So technically 100.
  2. Actual levels are slow, but the intermediate ranks (which give you an action point to spend at the trainer each time), don't take that long. Just need to do Quests. Mob's generally give 0xp and everything comes from mobs.
  3. So how did that DDO teamage go or did anyone show up? I waited until just after 8 in the tavern and didn't see any names I had listed. I then ran a few quests and got closer to 4th.

IE, your player model and costume wouldn't go away, there would just be a new set of 'Granite' armor pieces overlaid.

I haven't made any decision to do this, it's just one of the options for dealing with the multiple issues we have with Granite Armor and I wanted to get a sense of how many of you guys wouldn't be able to adapt to a change like this.

Before anyone asks, no...we couldn't have it both ways.
I'd be okay with this, but unless you've already done an imperial long tonne of testing I doubt this would make it into I16. Body types, body scales, costume pieces... all that wonderful clipping.

Like everyone I can't say yes or no until I see it. I'm quite open to the idea though.
  5. I'll be down on the Stormreach docks at 7pm EST on the 12th. Depending on how things go I'll either be on Isstovyr Ousstyl the hybrid buffer/healer/DPS or Marjorie Duncan the tank/DPS
  6. Oh, if we're skipping the island stuff then I'm already out and I'll be on my Favored Soul: Isstovyr Ousstyl, Drow Favored Soul of Vulkoor.

I won't have a lot of time Saturday but what time-ish do we want to shoot for?

Took me several hours (10-15ish) to get through all the quests and achievements on the island (the longest was the Slayer one). Of course I only did them on Solo and Normal with a few on Hard. No Elites yet since I wasn't teaming with anyone at this point.

I like the Points being account wide. It's nice to grab a good set of the best armor you can wear immediately on loading into the game. It lasts for freaking ever. I'm L3/R2 and still wearing a +1 breastplate.

Oh, and pot's are freaking expensive! I burned through around 40 from looting and when I needed to buy more they were crazy amounts of gold. Granted I had around 500 plat on me, but still. Ouch.

On the bright side I did successfully do the quest in the Market near the Stormreach Harbor: Defeat 200 Goblins. It was a hectic, running around screaming kind of time let me tell you. Meant to be a group quest (duh!) but I did it. Phew. Barely.

A lot of questions about this in chat. Technically not true. After reaching level 4 you need a levelling sigil to move higher. This sigil drops from quests and dungeons (might require some grind to get it), or it can be bought in the Store for TP (heheheheh). Technically, if you're willing to grind for it you can get level 20 while spending $0.00.

If you hit the site you can sign up and download the client right there. No cash at all. None required up to level 20 (100 actual levels of pregression).

It has limitations which can be found here. I've bought some Turbine Points (TP heheheheh), so I'm considered Premium now. With no monthly fee I can spend a few bucks a year on new content if I like the game enough and don't just reroll.

If you can find it cheap in a store though it will save you a bunch of time on the initial client download which is pretty slow right now since it just went free on Wednesday.

It has a Free to Play option now Fed, so that's what we're looking at. If you can find a cheapie retail version grab it though so you count as a Subscriber (VIP) for a month.
  11. Dunno how big groups can get Tiger... so sure!

So I do have a monk.

Anyways I've used the turbine download manager to get my copy of the game. Since my internet is slow, I'll have the download done in about 3 or so hours.
Sweet. I ponied up for the Drow and Favored Soul as well, but they were both sub 600 points at the time. I still have a few hundred left over so I spend 50 after a character gets a few ranks and grab +1 heaviest armor available in the store for them.

I think I'll make a fighter. Sword and board. Maybe even *gasp* human!

It's a custom-ish world. I'm using the Greyhawk gods and set the campaign in part of the 95%+ unexplored areas of Oerth. I've placed cultural and legal restrictions on races and religions.
To the north is a kingdom of elves. Elves here are insectile in mannerisms and most thought processeses. Each elven city is in effect a hive.
To the south is a barony of mostly humans.
To the east is an ocean/huge lake
To the west are the dwarves. The dwarves are a cruel slaver race that worship naught but evil gods and have enslaved the gnomes within their borders.

The population breakdown is pretty much 95% human, 5% mixed elf, halfling, gnome, half-orc, half-elf. 0% dwarves.

The big secret is that there was a civilization there eons ago and their ruins are only recently being rediscovered (in the last 500 years). The civilization were large sized Illithids that worship the Elder Gods from outside space and time.

The creepy and the warping of space has already happened a few times. Recently they've been dealing with golbins which are in the service of a go-between. Goblins work for deep giants who it turn work for the Illithids. Gives me a staged progression to work with.

I'm classing some things, modifying the descriptions of most, and creating some from scratch.

Finally got it installed this morning and made a barbarian. I liked the intro but I remember the game as be graphcailly sharper than it seems. Do I need to just kill the bloom or maybe its because I didn't do the HiRes download?
3.65 is a blend of some Pathfinder with mostly 3.5. I took the Pathfinder races and classes, consolidated some skills, and made a couple of spell changes. Otherwise we're still using 3.5.

Sunday they should have to make their first Sanity saves too. *GLEE!*

Oh yeah, I also added a San Save and a San Pool. The Save is 1/2 level + Wis mod + Cha mod + Misc - Int mod. The San Pool is 10 + Wis mod + Cha mod - Int mod. Aside from Elder creatures and the Elder domain, there are very few spells that cause a San save. Healing the San Pool takes either time, a Heal or any other spell that cures insanity.
  15. Goodly mornin' folks. I got up a littl early so as to pick up mah brekkie en route to work. Got some D&D 4E tonight, then some last minute touch ups for my own 3.65E campaign running on Sunday.

Not sure what to make for the potential DDO group. I was going to make the cleric... then I realized that in a focused role the Favored Soul is a TON better... and I already have a level 3/12 one of those. I might make a fighter... or a sorcerer.

And yes Rad, I've been trying to get together Rookery. people to play. Or at least get all those interested in one server so we can play together. BP rolled on Cannith, so that's where we should go. I made up a character there too, right before they shut the place down for maintenance.
Depending on what we do I can roll a 2nd team type character. The Drow Favored Soul is pretty much spec'd for self buffs, and melee killamajigery.

    No worries!

F2P is indeed Free 2 Play.

VIP is just their term for someone who continues to pay a monthly subscription. They get all class/race access, more characters per server, more adventures and zones. All of that can be bought by the F2P people either using the ingame points that you get from doing quests and dungeons, or by buying points (as I did to get the race & class unlocks).
It's like if you could buy and play CoX the way we do now, or you could play for free, but only certain AT's or powersets, and the TF's wouldn't be available nor would the co-op zones or bases be available. You could grind out merits to buy access to a specific TF, or you could pay a few bucks to buy the merits and then trade them for access to it.

    *shrug*

It's an interesting model and really suits the casual gamer that enjoys the game, but not enough to dedicate cash per month to it. You can pay for a month, then after that time your access goes back to F2P-er again if you feel like a burst of the game (of course you need to actually buy the game to ever be a VIP, which is why I snagged it for 7 bucks ).

It makes teaming a lot easier if there are people there that you know already, and maybe even if there's interest we can set aside a few hours one night for a regular-ish team. The best way to experience the game, in my opinion, is with a regular group. Much like with a table top D&D game.
    Sounds like a plan.

Shall we gather on the Cannith server then? One is as good as the next, really. I'll remake my ranger/rogue character, a personal favorite of mine.
I won't really suggest making that jump as I'm treating is as a casual side-game. Obviously you're welcome to come over and maybe we can get some teamage going.
  20. 2 for F2P.
    10 for VIP.

    You can buy extras.
  21. Hey there Fedorated Commonwealth.
  22. Worst case for me this month is if I16 drops on the 22nd... they day Aion goes live. Thankfully I'll get my character creation and selection done on the 18th and start playing on the 20th.

I rolled up on the Cannith server for DDO. Currently I have just the 1 character, and since after my free month I'll be down to only 2 character slots (F2P) I probably won't do much with the rest.
