  1. Thanks for all the fish Zwill. You're on my watch list for "games to watch if <insert name> are working on it".

    Of course it is.

    Somehow.

    Probably.

    Maybe.

    Shut up!

    • PvP folks
    • Quaterfield
    • People that misspell Quaterfield
    • Incarnate grind for VR's

Pretty short really. This is an awesome game.

    Gotta quote this.

To each their own when it comes to authors. I find Jordan to be a rambling hack that should be writing fan fic on Usenet. Jules Verne was a terrible author whose stories are both rampant with Mary Sue's, and overflowing with extraneous text.

However, if you like them then good for you.

But seriously, I had the same problem a few times. Some level 28 ******* was spamming my level 8 self with repeated duel invites, then emoting, then duel-spamming me again. When I refused several times, he proceeded to repeat "duel me." I really wish people who make a fuss about me not wanting "consensual PvP in PvE zones in City of Heroes" could get duel-spammed every now and then, just so they know why I don't want it.

I ended up putting the errant person on ignore, which stopped the invitations. I've gotten blind-invited a lot, blind-invited to Super Groups and even trade-spammed once. And I really don't get it.

The Champions community on the forums and in the CoX channel is amazing and actually very positive, but the actual people I run across in-game? Dear Lord! I guess I should thank my lucky star City of Heroes was so heavily instanced that I didn't see other people as often. Also - thank you, Mission Architect, for killing crowds in Atlas Park. That helped avoid the stupid so much it's inspiring.
As much as I've disagreed with your opinions at times on the forums... by $Deity we're so similar in our attitudes about the great unwashed masses.

I feel your rage. It is kin to mine own.

Though I don't mind blasters with the current Defiance. I still loathe non-ill controllers, defenders, corruptors, most doms.

DID? Sir, she has aged remarkably well. Like an excellent wine. I've still got a crush on that lovely lady.

  9. Resub as I had planned and continue playing as before.

I do the exact same thing. I'm also pretty OCD about my organization of them in my tray. Strongest at the bottom, weakest at the top, greens on the left, purples on the right, middle column for wakies, break-frees, etc.

  12. I've been running The Devoured on Beta. I pop 2 experienced powers for a full level of patrol xp (use one, THEN claim the 2nd and use it), a double XP booster, an D/O/S booster as well. At level 10 I switched to +0/x3 in Praetoria but I was only there for around 3 hours.
I'm back down to +1/x2 at level 27 just because some of those stacking -def attacks hurt a LOT.
I'm using sets and set IO's ASAP simply because they're FREE! Muah ha ha ha! Ahem.

SSA 2.4 and 2.5 are awesome. Kudos to the writer(s), (Doc Aeon I think).

Damnit this is never going to be on Live >

We had the people... Oh wait. Most of them stayed behind to become the awesome studio we all know and actually give a pancake about.

    Blade and Soul

Oh NCSoft, you so ca-rayzee. This worked out so well for Aion that you killed CoH and PS for it. Maybe they'll have to kill Lineage 2 for B&S... wait a minute. This new game is literally BS! I see what you did there.

So while others reported exploits that could have made them virtual millionaires had they kept silent... or gave detailed analysis of the code.... or really really hammered hard in testing to break things... I got it for licking a stamp.
    That's awesome.

    Confessions:
    1. I've never had one of the old school Master Of badges
    2. I hate Regen
    3. My first character was specifically designed to pander to the wrong kinds of people, and to get me teams. She was a small, female, teasingly clothed emp/rad defender named Lollipop Candi. I still have the character and actually made a nemesis rad/pain once her story evolved and she stopped being pedo/team bait.
    4. In highly technical threads I will often skip through looking for Sam or Arcana and read their posts as gospel on the topic, unless it's about WS or Dark* at which point I also add Dechs to the list.
    5. City of Heroes caused me to quit SWG before the NGE
    6. I PL'd my first Dominator (mind/psi) from 46 to 50 because I LOATHED mind control, and still do.

I can vouch that this has been great fun. It's an old school FF combat system and top down iso exploration. Fun. I'm only partway through and Cthulhu is level 79 (maybe 80).
  18. I copied a couple of characters over to Beta just to run SSA2.4 and SSA2.5. First thing I did was minimize the effects of travel powers + Hasten on both characters.

    Currently I'm plowing a DB/Bio-Armor brute to 50 before the shut-down. I will have my Bio-Armor 50 dagnabbit!

There I go getting all teary eyed again...

WHY!? For what end-game? For running dungeons over and over for valor... I mean, uhm... oh whatever. The enjoyment is GETTING to cap. Once there, in CoX or any other game, I'm done. CoX was a little better in that the story actually progressed with the iTrials. However even they were boring and repetitive after a few runs. It's the nature of the beast. The introduction of Incarnate Arcs was genius!

The third possibility is that many players would have been willing to accept a shutdown when the time obviously came and it was handled with some respect for the longevity of the game and its playerbase, but are not willing to accept a shutdown done with seemly so much haste the company itself hadn't even gotten around to creating sunset plans and terminated virtually all the employees that support the game overnight, and with so little transparency the players are still debating whether it was a profitable game at the time of shutdown.
This. Well said. Shutting down CoH:F, even with a 3 month time frame, would have been acceptable if handled properly.

I'm one of several that had an uninterrupted pay-cycle a month or two after launch. Recently hit by some financial issues I cut some larger recurring costs from my budget but couldn't justify cutting out someones support without also cutting my leisure activity costs. Yay for full tier 9 with 36 unlocks available as a premium. I figured I'd wait for I24 then resub on my 3 month recurring plan again. Apparently not.

Even knowing that the game will be GONE on November 30th I would happily pay my VIP fee until that day. CoH deserves the play. I met some people through this game I'll be sticking with as we try to find new things to do and maybe a new game to call home (most are swearing off MMOs though).

    Two paragraphs of fluff later...
Had NCS come in and announced that the game would be turned off and the studio closed on November 30th, but that until then everything was business as usual, would people be happier? I know I'd feel better for the folks at Paragon. I'd feel better about NCS as a company as well.
I pre-purchased GW2 the day it went on pre-sale and loved GW1, except Factions (fsck you Factions!), and currently enjoy GW2 as well. I won't boycott NCS although they now have only 1 game I enjoy. I won't even be more careful with my MMO dollar. This is the 1st game I've enjoyed (aw hell, loved) that has been cancelled. I had moved on from SWG long before that debacle, I had never paid for Hellgate, I have a lifetime founders account for LotRO (no regrets), and I generally beta or demo a game before tossing my money at it anyway. If I truly enjoy a game and pay for it and it gets cancelled with 24h notice that sucks. I get angry and rage, sure, but I'm not going to declare a ban on a company that does bad things or dumb things. They ALL do those things. ALL of them.
