  1. So it all activates in the same amount of time but the main gripe is just the fact that the animation takes place regardless of no loss in time?
  2. I'm unclear as to why tanks get priority on the SB. Personally, I like giving it to Scrappers as they will make sure everything goes down faster.

    I usually buff the whole team, but when I'm feeling lazy I give it to scraps and tank.

  6. I have a TA/A defender and I use Magic's Apprentice Charm as my igniter. I respec'd out of Blazing Arrow because it just wasn't for me.

    Propel was one of the main reasons I went with Gravity as a primary. I'm now at level 35 and am having a hard time justifying it mainly because of the looooong activation time. Many times you will find yourself hitting a target that has been killed during the time it took for your target to be hit.

    I'm not saying it's a horrible power, but you'll find yourself becoming frustrated with the long cast time and begin considering spec'ing out of it.
  8. I'm in process of working a flying Grav/Storm controller and I've been set on the earth epic pool because I've always like hurl boulder. My concern now, however, is if I'll be able to use the earth attacks while flying.

    There is no mention of there being any conflicts with using the earth epics while flying but I've been burned in the past in regards to this type of thing (Lightning Rod while flying).

    So does anyone know for sure if you can use hurl boulder, fissure, or seismic smash while flying?

    If not, I'd be interested in picking up Psionic Tornado. Does this do knockup or knockback?

  9. PBU should be 3 slotted with recharge IOs only. As mentioned earlier, ToHit slotting will only affect the ToHit bonus that PBU gives you upon activation.

    Also, 5 slotting anything seems to be wasteful in these post ED days. Anything past 3 slots would be best used elsewhere.

    After everything is said and done though, PBU+Vengeance is probably the most effective power combo in the game.

  16. Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees the big benefit of having it. For a moment there, I thought I was going insane or something.

    Really though, taking GC and putting a couple of slots in it is not going to break you. I run it at 3 slots and it provides a 13.5% def. The whole "Scrappers aren't Defenders" thing is really a strange argument considering that you're not really doing much different by taking it. You're still going to go in there and deal damage, but in addition you're also providing a very good defensive boost.

  17. Maneuvers better than Grant Cover? Hmm, dunno. Maneuvers buff for scrapper is extremely minimal and it doesn't even offer any secondary benefits.

    I guess I just value Grant Cover from playing so much defender/corruptor that it seems like a given to pick such a selfless ability. I'm fairly sure that not all melee characters soft-cap their defense so this provides that extra bump to provide extra survivability.

    Surprisingly, it looks like I'm part of the minority on this one though. Interesting.
  18. I've been on many teams lately with a lot of shield scrappers and one thing I've noticed is that not many of them take grant cover.

    Today I was in a team with 3 other shieldies (I was on my shield scrapper) and I mentioned "This entire team would be pretty unstoppable if we all had grant cover.". The response I received was basically "Well it does nothing for me so I don't like it."

    I understand that everyone can play the game they wan't to play it, but I just find it odd that so many people would pass up such a good buff. My scrapper's GC provides a 13% defense boost to my teammates. Back to that team from earlier today, if we all had GC on the entire team would've been soft-capped, even the squishies.

    On top of that, the end cost on it isn't too terribly high either. Also, it provides RES against -def and -recharge, which does apply to the user.

    Am I just making a big deal out of nothing here or should more shieldies start looking at the bigger picture?
  19. So I started up a TA defender and I'm curious of how many other TA defenders think Stamina is a good idea.

    I'm at 26 right now and so far I haven't had many Stamina problems, but of course I haven't picked up all my powers.

    Considering that TA powers have longer recharge and small endurance cost, I'm thinkin TA might be one of the rare sets where Stamina just isn't as important and even skipable.

    Thoughts?

  21. It's been a while since I've played Stalker (roughly when CoV went live), but I noticed that they've made some nice changes to them so I'm ready to try again.

    I'd like to try something different than what is normally found (DA, SR, NIN) so I thought Energy Aura would be interesting. However, when looking at the set I noticed that the defensive toggles provide DEF against dmg type instead of Melee/Ranged/AOE. How well does this stack with IO bonuses as I've noticed that a lot of the good bonuses provide DEF vs Mel/Rng/AOE?

    It almost seems like IO'ing Energy Aura will be futile since You'll have average def against mel/rng/aoe and also against all types but since they don't necessarily stack it doesn't seem like you'll be anywhere close to soft cap against any attacks.

    Am I correct in my thinking here?
  22. So in the OP's case where he is looking to get some drops, how else would he accomplish this if not by farming a high level non-AE mission?
  23. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's as intended but I noticed that Against All Odds has taunt properties and can accept taunnt enhancements, but it does not have the option to accept taunt set IOs.

    I did some searching but couldn't come up with anything. Does anyone know anything about this?

    On the contrary, that is when you need fast recharge the most. Foot Stomp, RoA, Shield Charge, Full Auto, and other heavy-hitting AoEs up for every spawn, even when the spawns are going down in seconds. That 5-second-per-spawn kill rate doesn't often happen with just FS. But it often does with FS and SB.

    Perhaps your argument would hold a thimbleful of water if the two buffs were mutually exclusive. But, they aren't. A kin can SB and FS, and good ones do just that.

    I play a lot of kinetics and a lot of scrapper, and I agree that both buffs are great, but I really think that fulcrum shift is the more valuable of the two. Viewing it from both sides, kin and scrap, if I had to choose one of those buffs to be applied it would most definitely be fulcrum.
  25. I've noticed there is no way to change the color on the Ascendant Shield. Is this intentional or an oversight?
