I would recommend ditching Omega Maneuver in favor of Serum. I'm not a huge fan of OM personally, but some may like it. I can't imagine you'd run across many people who would argue in it's defense.
Serum, however, is an awesome power to have. Since you've already invested in high recharge, you'll be able to have Serum on at all times. The heal component is nice but having an additional 800+ max HP is the real kicker. Even with all the defense in the world you WILL get hit so it's really nice to have this massive safety buffer when someone like Romulus decides to hit you in the face. -
Quote:Yeah, it's good to know what to expect when you begin to fully optimize your build. Most likely not at 44. Just letting him know that at 50 with Posi Blasts in all AoE's and hasten/mental training, his current issue will be a non issue.
My friend and I run pacted crabs and it's been easy the whole way to 50. At around level 30, the main hiccup was dealing with higher hp/fortified bosses. We knew this wouldn't be as much of a problem once we started getting pets, shatter armor, and much more recharge. Now at 50 and with IOs/Purples, we duo AVs all the time.
It definitely gets better. -
Quote:This. Although my crab uses gun attacks so I just cycle through those. My recharge is sitting at around 170ish so these two attacks chain very easily. Also, as a previous post mentioned. Shatter Armor hits like a truck and it applies another -20 res for 20 seconds just like Venom Grenade. I also put an Achilles in each one of my gun attacks just to make sure it debuffs as often as possible. On top of that, having pets helps out a ton.Longfang > Channelgun > Longfang > Channelgun > Longfang > Channelgun , I don't see an issue.
With 140% to 150% global recharge on a standard fairly IO'd Crab, you blow through single targets.
Channelgun: 5 x Decimations + Achilles Heel ( includes Decimation: Chance for Buildup proc ) 117 damage 1.33 recharge
Longfang: 6x Thunderstrike's 203 damage 2.5 recharge
As you can see with these recharges one is alway up. If you throw in a venom grenade every 9 seconds you are dealing a large amount of single target damage when stacked with the achilles. -
There's another new option created by the people at Dolby called Dolby Axon. My SG is planning on trying it out and I've heard nothing but good things about it. Google it and check it out.
-
At this point, I don't believe that there is a way aside from saving the settings and then loading the file in the options.
During the Q/A session at the PAX panel this year, someone brought this up to the developers and their response was kind of a 'Oh, yeah, never thought of that. We can look in to that if you guys really want it.' type response. -
During the PAX Panel, Positron mentioned that a signed NDA will be required because they're 'introducing new systems that would be brand new to the game'. I'm paraphrasing here so that is not the EXACT quote, but that's pretty much the gist of it (I think the panel is up on Youtube somewhere if you wanna go back and listen). Of course, he did not go in to specifics but the way he was talking about it, it seemed like it was much more than just a couple of minor changes here and there. Posi's not really the typical marketing guy so for him to put it this way made it seem like it truly was a big deal.
20 is a pretty big milestone so I'm sure the team is really gonna try to make this one huge. -

There's also the special edition Molten and Maelstrom editions coming out next month.

I'm hoping to pick up the Maelstrom edition when it becomes available. -
Quote:Which is exactly why it's frustrating that a spider not take his ONE very important power.\Tactical Training: Manuevers is ONE POWER. Yes, it's a good 75% of his defense on a Spider.
At this point, I really don't see where this thread is going. Everyone seems to be in the same boat that TT:M is a very important power to an SoA. I guess the argument now is not about that but how one of these weird SoA's who doesn't take said power should be treated. -
Quote:I agree with what you're saying there, however this is not what I was stating. I was stating that the overall damage provided by a single SoA with the setup I mentioned will bring in a similar amount of damage to that expected from a blaster. If we want to talk about the blaster being more damaging BECAUSE of the SoA buffs/debuffs than that's a different story. Also, to blueruckus, yea, that's a good amount of damage. But Team that toon with an Actual Blaster and the Blaster will receive All the benefit from your buffs and debuffs and thereby do Way more damage than you.
By that logic, I will claim the extra damage from the blaster as damage the SoA is causing because of the buffs/debuffs. On top of that, the extra damage that the rest of the team is causing will also be attributed to the SoA and then I can say that the SoA is providing and overwhelmingly larger amount of damage than the blaster.
So yeah, what's the lol'ing about?
Edit - Sorry, didn't mean to go on a tangent. I still agree with you on everything else regarding this thread. Any SoA who doesn't take TT:M needs to just go away. -
+30% constant damage from double assault, -20 res AoE from Venom Grenade, 4 Achilles -20 res procs 2 of them in AoE (I realize they don't stack but with 4 of them I this up on hard targets very often), -20 Res with high damage from Shatter Armor, and 6 pets all at +30% dmg....
I really don't understand what you're 'lol'ing about. That's a lot of damage. -
It's weird because considering how low spiders are in terms of overall population, those who choose to play one do so because they realize the massive benefit of TT:M and stackin up other leadership abilities. Being able to do such a thing is exclusive only to this AT. No other AT can provide so many team buffs while retaining blaster level damage.
-
Well what's nice about being a well-built SoA is that you can pick up a LOT of slack for themed characters who choose to be silly in their power choices and end up not contributing as much to the team. Whenever I see something like this, I don't kick or make a fuss, but I do make a mental note and move on. If a recruitment situation comes up in the future where I have to choose between said individual and someone else, I will more than likely pick someone else.
-
Quote:Yeah, I knew I'd see this comment coming after Zombie said that...WOAH ! ... where did the OP say anything about the choice for their gf haveing to be easy ? just because they are female does NOT mean they dont know how to play, or that they have to be babied.
Anyway, to the OP, go with two SoA. -
Might as well make a tank without defensive toggles and an MM without pets while you're at it.
I would never kick anyone for not having a particular power, as long as they're contributing I'm totally cool with it. However, you're really doing a disservice to yourself and the team if you don't take these powers in questions. Debate it all you want, but that's the downright truth. -
Quote:I run all of those toggles plus Fortitude. Also I use a high damage AoE chain of Venom Grenade > Heavy Burst > Suppression. On hard targets I use my two single target gun attacks plus Shatter Armor from the Mace PPP. On top of that I've fully slotted Spiderlings, Disruptors, and Blaster pets at perma recharge. Perma-Serum puts me at 2000+ HP at all times. 4 of my attacks are slotted with an Achilles Heel proc for added -Res. My endurance is just fine with all of this, really. I'm not sure what I'm really 'sacrificing' to make this happen, because my build is highly offensive, defensive, and supportive. Now, that, I think is a little excessive. Yeah, you're providing +20% Def and +30% damage, but 16% of that Defense is from TT:M. You're paying three times as much Endurance for that extra 4% (and that's assuming you don't slot it, or just 1 slot it for Def in that default slot) and need to come up with two more power pics for the second Assault and TT:Leadership. And you'll certainly need Stamina to support all those toggles.
That, personally, is what I would consider a Huntsman build. You'll have to make some sacrifices in offensive and defensive power choices in order to fit in all those support powers. Not that there's anything wrong with support, but the SoA is not a Defender unless you choose to build him that way. I think the team that is a combination of support SoA and a few more standard AoE Crab builds will do way damage than just straight support.
Of course, with Stamina becoming Inherent, I admit this will become more of an option in the future. I can certainly see myself picking up TT:Assault as I did previously prior to Stamina, since I won't need to be making other power picks to get Stamina at 20. And I should have room for TT:Leadership as well. And I can see even Crabs going for the Pool Leadership instead of that just being a Huntsman thing. Doesn't mean that I will be likely to do that with my Crab, though, or my Widow. (I'm not sure if Mind Link applies to the whole team or just the +Acc is applied to the team. If it does, you're talking about around +28% Def, but if it doesn't, the 3.5% from Manuevers is less significant)
My friend and I are pacted at 50 and he runs the same exact build as I do so. Having both defense toggles puts us both, our pets, and team at just about the soft cap. My 3-slotted maneuvers supplies a +5.4 defense. So yeah, having that is very helpful considering that when teaming with my friend it adds up to almost 11 defense. You can call it excessive, but I'll just call it smart. -
I'm normally a very civil and non-confrontational person, buuuuut....
begin rant
If you're a Spider, please, for the love of God, PLEASE, take TT:M TT:A, TT:L, Maneuvers, Assault. You'll be providing %20 Def and %30 buff to all teammates within a 60' radius. Yes, 60', that's pretty huge. It's not like FF dispersion bubble with a 20' radius, this is 3 times the size. If you're a Spider with pets, they will ALSO receive these buffs and basically become tanks as well. Once you're on a team with multiple VEATs who do the same, you'll realize why it angers me SOOOOO much when this doesn't happen. The potential is so great, but many Spiders just don't realize it.
I'm on a blueside SG of all VEATs and we completely crush everything in sight with ease. Know what's better than me being softcapped with a constant +200 dmg buff? The rest of my team, my 6 pets, and my team's pets all being soft-capped with a +200 dmg buff.
Talk about endurance issues all you want, but with some end reduction slot you can make this work EASILY. At least make a second build and try this out if you don't believe me.
end rant
If you're on Virtue and would be interested in joining our blueside VEAT SG or just teaming with us, let me know.

Slot it only if you're going to be using the uniques and they're respective bonuses. If the plan is to just throw in some generic healing IOs/SOs then I would just recommend leaving it at 1 slot.

I hear you. My problem with relying on arctic and bile would be that I enjoy running a lot of TFs. With my current setup I have double assault and my bread and butter AoEs starting at Posi.
-
Pets
* 4-slot Call to Arms for 6% enhanced recharge.
* 2-slot Expedient Reinforcements with recharge. With Call to Arms 4-slotted you'll have a total of 19.30% recharge.
------------------------------
Could you provide some clarification on this? Both of these IO Sets provide a 6.25% recharge bonus at the 4th slot. I'm not sure where this 19.30% number is coming from. -
My main gripe with running only gun AoE as opposed to gun/crab AoE is that WAWG and Frag only have a 10 ft. radius which is actually pretty small.
My leading attacks usually consist of Venom, Heavy Burst, Suppression. Venom has a nice 20' radius, Heavy's got a moderate cone range/width, Supression has a ridiculous 60degree cone with the same range as Heavy so I'm hitting a lot more enemies with suppresion than I would be with Frag Grenade. I
Also, I'm running double assault, double maneuvers, and TT:Leadership so I'm also granting boosts to my team like a Hunstman does. In addition to the team, I can pull out the 3 Spiderlings accessible to crab, the 2 Disruptors and also have them affected by my leadership buffs.
Without even getting in to the survivability provided by Fortification/Serum, I would say that overall you get more AoE effectiveness from crab.
Really, I think the main reason people go Huntsman instead of Crab would be 'theme' or dislike of spider backpack. -
I kinda wtf'd when I read this too. TT:L is NOT a direct damage buff. You'll get about 15 tohit when slotted properly. For damage I recommend all spiders grab both assaults.
-
I think that would be a fairly good combination considering you'd be able to confuse bosses right away. Duplicity has a fairly quicker recharge time than Frenzy as well so it would be up twice as much.
