Suprisingly, I haven't seen anyone running around in game with these yet. I logged in today just to see if I'd spot any, but none sighted. I'm curious to see how the arms would work with existing weapons/shields particularly dual pistols.

Yeah, anything other than your initial slot can be completely customized. VEAT weapons have their own categories which is why you can't use anything else than what's offered, but other than that it's all fair game.
And yes, I would love to have the options to have other weapon options. I wish my crab was able to use the vanguard rifle but unfortunately it just won't happen. -
I end up 1-Starring people who do that. If that person feels they're too important to pull their own weight on the sabotage and let everyone else do the work then I'd prefer to not deal with that type of person in the future.

Have massive gun arm, yet go in for a melee attack... must be an MM pet.

Been playing the game a good while but I'm giving Premium a good amount of consideration. As much as I've loved this game I can't say that I'm too pleased with the current focus on raid-type end game.
It was new and exciting at first but now it just feels a bit boring. Joining a large mass of players and just standing around spamming powers gets old after a while. I prefer smaller groups because it feels like my contribution actually effects the outcome. I don't necessarily hate running trials but I can't stomach running them over and over considering the little variation involved. If this is the future of 50+ play then I just don't understand. 'You are now a god-like being however you need even more people to accomplish stuff'.
I'm hoping that the new signature story arcs, possible new non-raid end game content, and hopefully an 'Incarnate Challenge' setting for existing TFs will keep me a VIP for years to come.
Either way though, I'm sure Paragon will end up with my money in the end. -
Since we're going all crazy now, can we FINALLY do something about Time Bomb???
I know this isn't the Blaster forums, but since I didn't catch the Ustream I was hoping someone would recap the explanation given as to why the Cottage Rule no longer applies. (Repulse/Disrupt) -
I've had Wikipanion for a long time and didn't even know it had this feature. Thanks for the heads up!

My main issue with Keyes is that despite being a more challenging trial, the rewards are the same as the previous two. I understand that it will become easier the more people become familiar with it, but even at that point it'll be more of a hassle/challenge than BAF/LAMBDA. If there was a greater incentive to run Keyes I wouldn't grumble at the thought of running another one.

Quote:My thoughts exactly. Sure, we all had a chuckle during the whole FREEM thing but it's old news. Not really that funny anymore. Alienating potential new players with old inside jokes is the last thing Paragon is going to want to do. Besides, if anything, I'd rather name it 'Kill Skuls'.There are times when we are more than happy to incorporate player suggestions and ideas, such as the new Merit Vendors in Ouroboros.
Then there are the other times.
In all sincerity, while we definitely agree that FREEM is funny and definitely has a place in the culture of City of Heroes and Paragon Studios, it might be a bit too esoteric for a new VIP player.
Besides...you should hear the other name ideas. -
My guess would be a click power like KM's Power Siphon. Animation time redux is something I've always wanted to see in this game. I hope that Time Manipulation has a Haste power that applies this buff.
-
I run Musculature as a leadership gun crab. I dont use Ageless. My endurance isn't a huge problem. I'm not at 100 all the time but what would be the point of that? Grab +END accolades and slot some end redux. Should be fine.

The idea of Momentum sounds like perfect synergy with Brute's Fury mechanic. Sounds like it's gonna be an awesome set.

I think we all suspected this coming to some degree. I've played other F2P games and I couldn't stand them... the whole atmosphere just felt so cheap on those games. They just didn't feel like quality titles, but more of a 'Hey, you get what you pay for.' feel. My biggest worry about CoX going F2P was mainly just the fact that it was now stooping to that level and that the perspective on the game would just change. Once again, my experience so far with other titles is 'F2P = Crap Game'.
The more I think of it though, this will only inject new life in to the game I already know is a great game. I already know a few IRL people who've I've tried to get to play the game but they just don't like paying sub fees on games. They're looking forward to trying out Freedom when it goes live. The game won't really change any for existing subs, if anything, it sounds like it's becoming better.
The past couple of years we've been getting nickel and dimed on booster packs so having to spend Paragon Points that we get automatically for being VIPs doesn't seem any different to me. Plus, if this new model means getting more content that's totally cool with me, even if I've gotta pay a bit extra for it.
CoX has been giving us the royal treatment throughout it's life with constant FREE issue updates and improvements. The reality is, it's no longer as profitable as it once was so now it's our turn to help out and do our part to make sure it continues being the game we've all enjoyed and loved...
...at least until CoH 2 comes out. -
Quote:Good for you. It was buried in a few threads but something this promising should have it's own thread. Kudos.I don't see any obvious threads about it on the first page in this forum or the Powers forum.
I'm not worried about getting scooped by a post buried deep in an obscure thread.
.
What's weird is that it's an emphasis on quick strikes which I assume less damage. Most games handle two handed wielding as higher damage per hit. -
Quote:That new Joystiq article most certainly confirmed 2 handed weapons but it won't be available with I21 launch. Although Katana is already a 2 handed weapon so I'm not sure what this is all about. The mention of it doesn't really sound like a new powerset but a new mechanic. Dunno really. The other power set hinted at by the devs today is almost certainly 2-handed weapons:

Team Inspirations sound good too -
Me too. I recall then doing that with I20 so I figured it was the new norm.

Altitis is still widespread even amongst vets. These zones will get a lot of play. Nova Praetoria, however, will be a ghost town.
-
Quote:Yeah, that's exactly my point. As a means of choosing an AT and getting it on the opposite side (like making a Brute, running it through Praetoria, choosing heroside)...there is no point to it now since the new tutorials will allow you to do the same much quicker or heck, right from the start since you will be able to skip the tutorials and just click the hero or villain option.
So now we have these 3+ zones with all this content that's easily outleveled. Since we're drawing all these new players going F2P, they will play the new primal earth tutorials/zones and skip over Praetoria. The only way I could see this being a non-problem is to treat Loyalist/Resistance as their own independent alignments. This way, starting Praetoria isn't just a means to get to Primal Earth. This, of course, would conflict with the current end game content so I don't see this happening. -
I'm looking forward to First Ward and hope it's mid range content. Once again, my main issue is that I21 focuses on a new starting experience when last years full retail release did the same thing.
-
Last year's big Summer release introduced Praetoria as the new starting grounds for players, including new zones and a completely revamped tutorial...
This year's big Summer/Fall release introduces the original newbie areas as the new starting grounds for players, including revamped zones and a new tutorial...
Sooo what was the point of Praetoria? Honestly, I like the direction of the upcoming release focusing on the original areas and letting you pick AT and Alignment separately (ABOUT TIME!!)... but I can't help but feel that all the resources poured in to Praetoria were kinda wasted. I can't really see this placed used anymore in it's current state.
It seems like the only new Praetoria related content we see is in the end game trials. So Praetoria goes from being 1-20 content then all of a sudden level 50 content. I wish that the Praetoria we have now was level 35-40+ content that then smoothly transitions in to the end game stuff. -
Quote:In all fairness, the time between 19 and 20 was pretty standard. 19.5 came out only a month after 19 came out. I'd feel a bit bummed if 20.5 was treated (in terms of issue release times) as a full blown issue because that would mean 21 is going to be 4 months after that. So then we'd have about 7 months in between 20 and 21... not sure how much I like that.Isn't the UStream in a few minutes? Maybe they will say something during the broadcast? Sometime in the next two weeks sounds about right as that will give them 5 months to release I21. This way they can pass off the half issues as whole issues and claim we had 4 releases this year.
-
I know all the talk is about F2P and the new VIP Server, but since that's later this year (Dec 31)... what's the ETA on 20.5? Was there any mention on the Ustream chats? Considering it was recently moved to Test I'm guessing really soon.
Anyone? -

On my third build I made a melee bane with the 3 AoE mace blasts. I know the blasts look horrible on paper but its actually a pretty fun build. It's nowhere near as good as my gun crab (then again it's not purpled out), but it's definitely fun and different.
-
Make a crab using gun attacks. You're taking all the quickness of Huntsman gun attacks with the survivability of a Crab. Crab attacks are horribly slow and pale in performance to the gun. Rebuild that crab with gun attacks and you'll see how much better it works out.
Also, I too have invested in dmg/range Hami-O's on Heavy Burst in lieu of a Posi Blast set. I was worried about giving up the set bonuses but haven't looked back since.
