    i think this might be time for supermax to start using level 50 accuracy IOs instead of level 50 accuracy SOs (then you can get away with two of them).

    Development of Q:
    There are three cornerstones to a good PVP toon: Heal, Perception and Phase. This has always been the case and still remains so, with the importance of a heal having been somewhat diminished by the introduction of heal suppression. Corruptor EPPs get access to a phase power (hibernate), and perception (focused acc). Dominators and Controllers get access to a phase power (hibernate), and they can get perception from leadership. For a cold/sonic to do the same, it must take phase and sacrifice perception. A corr can just fit in leadership. Add in scourge and you can make the argument that damage on a corruptor will spike through and over that of a defender.
    Ice/Cold Troller vs. Cold/Ice Defender - Leadership and higher damage with containment on behalf of the troller.

    Healing can be gained through simply packing greens and with heal decay on, the case for this is even stronger, since you only want to heal oh so many times throughout a match.
    Yes, likely around Going Rogue, but possibly a month or 2 after.

    Uh yeah sure...a corruptor has 75% strength debuffs and +10% damage on a defender.

    My defender has +15% global damage and all my blasts have at least +102% damage and kills stalkers. I've solo'ed hopkins and the envoy shadows with him. He also has 18 original hammies (thank you sneaky prophet).

    You don't know what you are talking about. My defender does decent solo but shines on a team in PvP. I know this, because when I'm on, I'm the only one dying on my team. Why? because I'm the only toon on the team the villains can kill, since the buffs and debuffs keep everyone else alive.

    When going rogue hits, I'm going to the rogue isles and destroying all the AVs and SFs on the nub side, then I'm switching back. So I will have one character that has done every TF/SF/AV/GM in the game.

    COH players >> COV players >> EANoobs

  5. once you get past a certain point, build > skill. a rad/sonic is past that point. you can be the second coming of the lord of rads ajax, and it will simply not work against someone with 4 brain cells.

    a dom with 5 yellows and tactics will destroy you. it if has poisonous ray, you shouldn't even bother.
    a blaster doesn't even need yellows. between hold procs, will dom, tf's and all that, the only thing that you can beat is a bad ar/ice that didn't take build up; yeah, that bad.
    a scrapper will hit you consistently with focused acc/targeting drone; same applies to a corr with focused acc or any -def (most corrs unless you're fighting lol/sonics or lol/traps).
    tank just needs a bit of to-hit (build up, ss) and by simply spamming fossilize + 1 attack, you will die.
    a stalker, well.. there's that retarded sudden death thing.
    what else is left?
    a rad/sonic defender is a horrible toon.

    there is nothing a defender can do that corruptor or controller can't do better.

    on my fire/cold i have the proc in flares. the rationale is that since i've dropped web cocoon for a more team oriented build and slotted a hold proc into web envelope too, i need a chance to mez an opponent that fire's consistently.

    i placed it in flares because i don't ever lead with flares in kb's, i generally go in for a blaze and follow up with a fire blast; if the target isn't dead by then, i'll venture out a flares, but the mez spike is already over with.

    http://blip.tv/file/755107 , http://blip.tv/file/755079 -UJL vs. VRC Matches - first match: our poison puts pets on aura's stalker, who isn't set up to manage pets adequately (ujl is running spines/ea stalkers that ripper up and throw spines at pets to counter these tactics, maximum used to use phase on his regen to set up AS's, etc.). the forum drama ensueing about 3 months later was hilarious (essentially consisted for myk, and mez calling ujl and the renegades bad, lolvirtue writing a guide to villain pvp (1. mind link stacks, 2. doms have domination, and ajax insisting that a regen will never work in a villain match because of how mm's sic pets... about 2 months later maximum ran a beast regen against gmw, getting some pretty good AS's through storm debuffs). Second match, VRC switches to an all-dom team. Nerf Traps.

    if you're set on a therm, try an ill/therm. roman has one and last time i fought him i left dent marks on my desk.

    as for a /cold controller, unless you have craploads of money heroside, there's very little reason to roll one over something like your sonic/cold. on a sonic/cold, in team matches, you get access to webnades which make you in a hellish disruption toon (once you get going on the webnade/infridge spam, the drop in kill rates is generally pretty noticeable in bigger matches).

    /ff's are nice, /emps are still great, /kins are useless, /sonic is useless, /storm is ok, but requires skillful play, /therm is good, /ta's great.

    ask mage to elaborate on the ice/cold though.
    musey rolls on a ta/ defender, so maybe there's something i'm missing on the TA troller vs. TA def front.
    don't listen to divine unless he's talking /rad.

    my alter ego is leveling and ice/cold troller repeat-offenders style, so when it's 50 and spec'd, i may be able to give more feedback.

    make a plant/ice dom if you want. just spam poisonous ray and KS people in zone. best way to get drops. same applies to most dot heavy powers and scourge. of all my toons, i've gotten the most drops on my fire/cold; why? dots + scourge.

  20. most of the pvpers will go red, at least temporarily.

    the time to accolade a toon redside is still dramatically lower than the time it takes to do it blueside (with the exception of geas and portal jockey on a good AV team). getting invader takes 20 minutes per TF equivalent badge when you have a lowbie in range. and i'd rather kill 200 marcone bosses than hunt for unveiler (takes 30-40 minutes if you have a farm mish).

    you just hinted on why a roll-based system will not make people want to pvp.

    the devs got it all mixed up when they decided to do an RNG-based rewards system for pvp and then make pvp more deterministic in terms of player choice. rewards should be deterministic; you kill 100 players, you get a pvp recipe of your choice.

    you think it's gonna get farmed?
    wrong, way wrong. there will always be players in zone hoping to rack kills faster at the expense of farmers (ME!ME!ME!ME!).

    a drops-based system for rewarding players in pvp does not lead to true competition for drops and that's why current pvp drops are doing nothing for pvp besides raising how many lazy people i have to exploit in the market, and the differential between a good 10 billion inf build and someone's SOs.
  22. yeah, if you take away all the expensive bells and whistles (all those lotgs, and other procs, blessing of the zephyrs because i didn't want to take the shields, etc, etc) you can come up with a good build for a therm under 400 mill.
