  1. Honestly, the reward tables are borked. I've done well over 60+ trial runs between my Brute and Dom. In both cases, well over half of my rewards have been of the uncommon variety. Even after slotting all 4 of their Tier 3s, they still have at least 2-3 types of each uncommon left. Anyways, behind the uncommon comes the rares(about 10-12 times), common(8-10 times), very rare(5 times I think) and 10 threads(only 1 time).

Personally, I would much rather reverse my luck in common vs uncommon. I just don't need that many and the breakdown ratio stinks.

Way to take what I said and interpret it into something over the top. Do explain to me how ridding yourself of your inconvenience/problems by handing them off to others (not to mention *expecting* them to be compliant without protest) is actually reasonable and logical? Both sides are making/denying requests for apparent selfish reasons (a point I've already conceded) so show me your logic behind determining which side is more right. Let's not even mention the ridiculous expectations behind asking *everyone*, potentially 20-50 people, in a single Pocket D instance to turn off their toggles. Let's say if only half of those people refuse to comply, and that's being very optimistic, this whole exercise becomes absolutely pointless and strictly academic. It's just begging for needless confrontations when there are other perfectly reasonable (and easier) alternative solutions available.

Secondly, who are you to determine what is considered to be a "minor" inconvenience to me and what isn't? I have 27 characters on 2 accounts, all of them have toggles of some sort. So me having to write "macros" for all of them based on the off chance that someone might ask me to turn them off one day is only a minor inconvenience? Do I have "Hi, I have TONS of free time to devote to pointless remedies for potential issues that will probably never pop up" stamped on my forehead? Did you even think out your the logic behind your argument before you hit the submit reply button? In anycase, I have already mentioned before that bringing that sort of commentary into this discussion would be getting perilously close to passing off opinions as facts. Yet here you are, doing that very thing. I'm sorry if I sound more combative in this post but this kind of obtuse non-sense is seriously getting on my nerves.

Then you would very much have a reason to complain and petition if they don't stop. I know I have petitioned some Thermal jerk at the BM when they kept spamming PBAoE heals and putting Shields on everyone. I never doubted that griefers do exist or claimed that you don't have a right to petition them. I'm just saying to universally ask everyone to turn off their toggles is somewhat unreasonable, especially when there are other plausible options available to you as I have mentioned above. That's all I'm saying.

Take note that I did say your *teammates* and not random people. In fact, I did specifically say that buffing random people for no reason *can* be considered to be griefing. In anycase, sometimes just before a trial run is started (such as people are waiting for queuing window to pop up), people do start casting buffs on their teammates. SB, Cold Shield, etc. This is especially true for Lambda trial because there is no cut scene at the beginning and people tend to start killing as soon as enough people load in.

As for buffing, I do THAT once I'm inside the mission. It's not like it takes long.
Might I offer an alternate solution then? If my assumption is correct, graphical lag only happens when you're within direct line of sight of the cause. There are certain areas of Pocket D where direct line of sight to the dance floor is blocked. The area next to the ski chalet door on the upper floor for example. If you believe it's reasonable for you ask people to toggle off their powers, as a counter-argument to that, it is also reasonable for others to ask you to relocate to certain areas out of line of sight to alleviate the issue, assuming you want to stay in Pocket D.

Let's also look at this from a probability point of view.

    A. Asking 20-40 people on the dance floor to turn off their toggle powers.
    B. Getting your group of folks to move 100 feet to an area away from the dance floor.

I personally think option B would win out every time.

So, taking 30 seconds to save someone a potentially lengthy crash, DC and re-load?

And, really, none of this would be an issue if the RWZ had a teleporter itself to make it easier to get to...
The 30 seconds was just an estimate. Realistically speaking, on my DA brute (the one I'm taking through the trials right now), it probably takes a little longer than 30 seconds. Also keep in mind that this is for *every* trial and I run quite a few each night. The average BAF run only lasts 15-20 minutes these days and I have to spend 3-5% of that time sitting on my bum? As for your comparison with MM, I don't think that's really valid. Having to spend time summoning pets is an established expection for MMs. It comes with the AT. Being defeated is one thing but having to toggle powers on and off for no apparent reason isn't one of the requirements for Brutes/Scrappers/Tankers/Stalkers.

You also are forgetting the fact that while I'm sitting at the beginning at the mission toggling all my powers on, others with less toggles have most likely engaged the mobs already. Since I'm not doing any damage, that could very realistically end up with my group taking a smaller share of the iexp/thread drops at the current league reward format. Yes, people do rush into mobs that fast on trials. Many people even start on the next group before the current one is even finished.

Lastly, let's not get into the discussion of trying to determine whose expectation of "reasonableness" or "consideration" is more correct. That's perilously close to passing off opinion as facts.

Okay full stop. Before you continue your callous use of the "griefer" accusation, let me pose these following points to you.

    1. Am I abusing the game mechanic by using my toggle powers? No. As I've already said, I'm using the toggle powers within it's original perscribed parameter. If you refute this, please explain the "proper" way to use toggle powers to us.

    2. Am I spamming someone else with unwanted powers? Debatable because PBAoE toggle powers tend to have that unavoidable side affect. However, this is not the same as auto-casting unwanted PBAoE heals or spamming someone with Flame Shield. Those are what I consider to be actual griefing attempts if they refuse to stop.

    3. Let's expand this beyond the use of toggle powers. Would you ask people to not pre-buff their teammates just prior to starting a trial? That causes graphical burden as well, sometimes even more so. What if people just finished a trial and exited into Pocket D with a plathora of buffs on them? Sometimes those buffs last for 4 minutes and they can't just toggle them off. What happens then? Would you ask them "politely" to leave the zone or hide in a corner away from you? If they refuse, petition!

    4. Am I somehow obligated to bow to your every request? If you feel that my posts are detrimental to your enjoyment of the forums, should I stop posting per your request? If I'm running through a mission at too fast a pace to let you take in all the scenery, should I slow down to a snails pace just to appease you? Asking "politely" doesn't automatically equate to being reasonable.

    5. You don't think that asking others to be considerate to your needs without recourse is hypocrisy? What happens to their convenience? You don't think it's a hassle to have to turn their toggles on and off for every, single, trial? Just what makes you believe that your convenience trumps theirs?

I'm sorry but the self-centeredness in your posts are rearing its ugly head. Now I'm not saying my reasons for not wanting to turn off toggle powers aren't selfish but again, it's not my fault that your computer can't handle the graphical burden. For you to try to place that burden onto my shoulders is absurd.

And no, no smiley this time.
So I should inconvenience myself by wasting 30 seconds per trial toggling powers on and off or risk being petitioned? This despite the fact that I'm using my toggle powers in a fashion that is consistant with its original intended purpose. Yeah, I'm glad that your convenience supercedes my convenience. It's almost as if it's my fault that your machine can't handle the graphical burden.

The moment you back your requests for others to be considerate of your needs with actual threats, it ceases being reasonable. It's flat out intimidation with no logical basis and reeks of selfishness. Thanks but no thanks.
  9. Hmm, so many to choose from.

My WM/SD Brute named - The Euthanasist
My Claws/Invul Brute named - Sunder Thighs
My Plant/Psi Dom named - Prickly Terror
My Sonic/Pain Corr named - Super Emo Man

    Etc etc.
  10. Yikes, after reading all 7 pages, I am glad to be a Freedumb player. So much drama over perceived slights and grievances.

As for toggling off powers while in Pocket D, no thank you. For example on my DA brute, I have 10 toggle powers (11 if you count Oppressive Gloom). Needless to say, having to constantly turning them on and off is a royal Pain with a capital P. There is just no way I'm going to subject myself to that mind numbing exercise 12-16 times a night (6-8 trial runs on average), on top of needing to do that after a defeat. My other brutes have less toggles but they still average about 7 each. It would be different if someone is spamming their AoE heals or buffs for no reason but really? Toggles?

Seriously, if your machine isn't capable of handling the graphical burden, set all options to minimum and turn off ultra mode. My computer isn't top of the line (2 years old) and it can handle 30-40 people standing around in Pocket D with their toggles on just fine. This isn't a problem with people refusing to turn off their toggles. Those powers were designed to be left on so I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. Folks with lower end machines really shouldn't be asking everyone else to make concessions to suit their own purpose. I'm not saying this out of spite but rather it's just a way to transfer hassle and inconvenience from one group of players to another.
  11. Go Freedom! Thankfully I'm at work right now and they'll get this fixed before I get home. I h4z m04r br0075 70 0u7fi7.
  12. Eh, I'm not a big fan of speed run on these trials (yet) and the reason is uneven iexp distribution between teams. That leads to slots taking longer to get unlocked if you are unlucky. I'm working on my 3rd level 50 now and the progression I'm seeing on average is, each BAF run gives you between 10-15% toward unlocking while Lambda gives you between 20-25%. This is assuming no crashes or d/c during the runs which will obviously make you lose out on some iexp. In all cases, I have my Tier 3 rare (and then some) ready to go before the corresponding slots are even unlocked. My Brute has all 4 of his Tier 3s with 100 threads and 6 components left over. My Dom has something like 160 threads and 8 components left. This is after having to craft 3 rare components with 100 threads and 100 million inf between the two of them.

With the current setup, earning threads/merits/components to build the enhancements is not the issue. Gaining iexp fast enough to unlock the slots is. Speeds run do not solve this imbalance.

Of course, there is an exception here. Speed runs does indeed help get your Tier 4 very rares faster once all 4 slots are unlocked since at that point, iexp earning rate becomes a moot issue. At that point, you do want to complete as many runs as possible to get merits and chances at very rare end rewards. I guess I just haven't switched over to that mind set yet because I have far too many level 50s to equip with incarnate goodies. The strategy of getting all Tier 3s before moving on to the next character will have to do for now due to time constraints.
  13. Actually yeah, that solves my issue. I keep my team/league windows docked so I didn't see the arrow. It's so darn small and it's overlapping the chat window. Thanks and forget about that addition, heh.

    BAF Griefing?

Okay guys, time to ease up a bit. This is getting silly and way, waaaayyyyy overblown. If the new leader don't want the star, speak up and pass it to someone who does know what they're doing. Honestly, it's really that simple. There are 24 people in BAF leagues and surely there will be at least 1 or 2 people that wants it. Passing the star is far less of a time consuming hassle than putting a league together from scratch. That much I can guarentee. Heck, when I'm in one of his leagues, I even volunteer sometimes.

Secondly, people barking different or confusing orders is really not that much of a concern for BAF or Lambda for that matter. For BAF, there are only a few *conventional* ways of beating it consistantly. The first phase of killing Warworks never change and neither does the third phase of door sitting/roamers taking out leaked runners. That only leaves 2 phases where things can go differently. The first variation is during the 2nd phase and that's just a simple decision of whether to pull NS to the tennis court or kill her where she spawns (99% of the teams pull her to court). The second variation can happen during the 4th phase and that involves whether to have a seperate ambush team. Whether to kill both AVs at the courts (a given if NS is already dead there). Or, splitting the leaguers into 2 seperate AV spawn point killing teams and a 3rd ambush team (very rarely used method).

I've said it before, BAF does not need an optimal team because it is not that difficult any longer. There are enough people that are 50+3 running around who have ran it to the ground already. In fact, if I join a PUG league, I would much prefer to have a leader who gives concise but clear instructions as opposed to an overbearing and micromanaging leader. Dare I say that as long as the league has a concensus on a strategy and actually pay attention, the leader is of minimal importance, along side the league's AT composition.
  15. I like the ideas. I have one more to add though.

I wouldn't mind if we could re-arrange or re-size our own maximized league windows so we could align the teams horizontally instead of the current vertical method. I don't know if there is a way to do this right now. If there is, I haven't found it.

The reason I ask for this is because right now the league window is so tall, it actually covers up most of my map window. I know I could move the map window to another place on my screen but I have so many windows/power trays as it is, something else will have to be moved to its place and that in turn will get covered up. Then there are the choices of minimizing my chatbox to a much smaller size (won't be able to see much league/team conversation) or switch to team only tab (won't be able to see the other the league team's status). None of those options are really desirable.

I don't know. If your hot wife is willing to leave you for someone else, you just might be better off without her. Besides, if you are able to get a hot wife in the first place, why not just get another one. An upgrade if you will.

It doesn't. Usually 4-5 people is enough. Often times I would see a couple of the ambush team members go help out the AV killing teams and end up with a share of the iexp there as well. Conversely, the AV killing teams could send one of their members to help with ambushes to get a share of that iexp of course but this just overly complicates the whole raid setup and is completely unnecessary in my opinion.
  18. My take on this issue is this. People who don't want to do the new incarnate trials *should* get the goodies at a *slower* rate than those who does participate. However, taking 2-3 years just to equip one character with all four Tier 4s is absurd. Let's even take Tier 4s out of the equation and just go with four Tier 3s. That would still take what, maybe a year or slightly less for each character? In comparison, I can equip one of my characters with Tier 3s in all 4 slots in about 3-4 nights of playing (with a few breaks tossed in). The gap is simply too massive and let's not even talk about the gargantuan difference in inf cost between the two routes.

With all of that in mind, the 1 to 1 conversion ratio simply makes no sense. It takes five times more threads to craft the new components when compared to the amount of shards it takes to craft the alpha components. I remember someone mentioning in another place that threads drop 5 times more often than shards. Thus, the conversion ratio should've been set at 1 for 3 or even 1 for 4 as a compromise. We all know that such asymmetrical conversion is indeed possible since we can convert Astral Merit for 4 threads. It's rather simple logic as far as I'm concerned and someone at PS seriously dropped the ball here.

This is coming from someone who runs nothing but new trials to equip his characters.
  19. Are there anymore people that would like this change? Speak up and be heard by the devs. Seven years is way too long for an overdue change such as this.

Well, personally I think it could also due to the fact that are a lot of people out there who would list their Tank/Brute/Scraps as their favorite characters to play. That is the case for me at least with my Doms/VEATs tied for 2nd place. It would make sense for people to prioritize their *favorites* on top of the incarnate to do list. If we take a look at the AT & Powers section of the forums, you would notice that the 3 most active sub-forums are Scrappers, Brutes and Tankers. Just a passing thought.

    BAF Griefing?

Yeah his teams do look very odd compared to the "standard" formats but in defense of the guy, I had yet to fail a BAF with a league that he concocted. Of course most of the time we use our own strategies instead of the following the instructions he give out but I digress. BAF is simple and easy enough that you can literally invite the first 23 "LFT" you see and still end up with a mix that will have a good chance of succeeding. Actually I think that's precisely what this guy is doing, inviting everyone he sees that's LFT. From what I've noticed thus far in Pocket D, there is definitely an abnormally high amount of melee toons LFT as compared to support ones and his teams reflect that imbalance. Anyways, the key part to BAF isn't necessarily team composition but rather coordination between teams. As long as people listen to instructions and pay attention to runners/AV health bars, you would be hard pressed to fail it. A "perfect" league need not apply here. Unless of course you're going for the "Master of" badge.

As far as I'm concerned, if he wants to spend the night putting leagues together only to quit and let the others play. Go for it. It takes the most time consuming part of BAF out of the equation.

Well see, I have 18 level 50s and 4 lowbies on my main account and 5 level 50s on my second account. With my 50s (comprising the vast majority of my characters), the other contents I enjoy are red side SFs which coincidentally, all have cut scenes. And I have seen them all about 20+ times as well, particularly ITF, LGTF, BSF and LRSF. If I want to avoid repetitive cut scenes, all I have left are regular arcs, papers, AEs. None of those choices really appeal to me anymore since I don't need to outfit my characters more. Frankly, I only look at regular content only as a necessary evil to get new projects to 50 at this point. Of course I could just take some time away from the game which I do and quite regularly. Perhaps a little more than half a dozen 1-3 months breaks since I started CoV nearly 4 years ago.

Ironically, I do have a rather high tolerance for doing repetitive content. Such is the byproduct of playing several MMOs during the past decade. Now I'm not tired of the new trials *yet* but I haven seen them enough to want to run through each of them as quickly as possible. The cut scenes are not helping in that department. So yeah, if I am complaining about a part of the game being too repetitive, that's saying something.
  24. I agree with all of the above. This can get especially frustrating if some league leaders tend to group players together based on their AT/role. For example damage groups, tanking groups or support groups. As far as I can tell, right now the distribution of iexp is based on on the amount of damage each group has done on a mob. That formula makes no sense because not all ATs were created equal when it comes to damage output. Even ATs that have a plethora of lighter hitting AoE damage options will be more welcome than a ST AV-killing specialist.

Edit: This current damage based iexp distribution formula also encourages the forming of *stacked* kill-steal groups that we see oh so often in other MMO's raids. Not an encouraging thought at all. After all, wasn't encouraging cooperation and team play the whole point behind these multi team trials? Why have a reward mechanic that literally sets the teams against one another in a competition to see who can hog the most iexp?
