Boxing on my Blaster (slotted up as a Mako's Bite IO mule) does 1382 damage.

As always, thanks for the hard work! Mids is one of the core foundations that make this game so incredibly fun to play!
There is one weird bug though. The damage numbers are insanely high. At least, when I opened my Dual Pistols/Energy Manipulation Blaster the power Pistols is said to do 1120 damage! Don't get me wrong though, I'd love it if Executioner's Shot did 2374 damage. -

Why not go with Fiery Aura for that demonic character? I have a DM/FA and having two heals, two endurance recovery powers, a damage aura, and Fireball is tons of fun.

Hrm. Wonder if there is a way to get good S/L Defense while having Fireball still decently slotted.

Y'know, I've never gone the route of getting Smashing/Lethal Defense on any of my characters. Is it considered universally better to have S/L/E/N Defense over F/C/E/N? That seems like three damage holes, Psi, Fire, and Cold that you can't really mitigate much.
Please explain away, folks! Thanks. -

So I made a FM/SD. Got a build made and then got a few levels.

After it got some buffs I absolutely love Invulnerability. Inventions and said buffs are really what finally got me to play the set and it has been a blast! My Invulnerability is a Martial Arts though, something I never see anyone mention pairing with Invulnerability.
For me IOing out an Invuln character on the cheap, let alone any kind of character I've ever had is a difficult proposition. Inventions are the next stage of character progression after they hit 50 for me, so when I do get to crafting, I go all out. Sorry I can't be of any help on that part.
Definitely take Tough and Weave. You can get very close to the Scrapper Smashing/Lethal Resist cap (at 70 percentish) and Weave will help you get to the Elemental typed Defense softcapped. That would be another important thing to focus on - Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative Energy Defense. You'll definitely want to get your Invulnerability to softcap those defenses with a minimum of 1 foe in Melee range. A little harder to do now that the Blessing of Zephyr IO set bonuses are being reduced. I'm still tinkering around with a build that will do that and have Aid Self. -
You're very welcome. Doesn't ever seem to be many people that play Fire/Fire Scrappers, so I am happy to help out any that would join the cause.
Some day I hope the Immobilization and Knockback status protection holes are removed. -

Drats. Lets get those guys that brought over CoH to the Mac to port over Mids as well.
Melee Defense is working out great for me, but I've heard in general S/L will have a little bit more survivability. Obviously that changes in Melee Defense's favor when what you're fighting can be brought into melee and kept there. Either way, it'll do great to bolster Fiery Aura's survivability. There are other ways of course, like getting enough global Recharge to make Healing Flames come up faster.

Do you use Mids Hero Builder? That would help out a lot if we could see something you have in mind and then go from there with modifications. It is a very important tool around here.
Resistance is futile, but when you add Defense on top of it you get something that will withstand even the Borg. (Yes, really. I just said that.) What I like to do is add Melee Defense to my Fire/Fire/Fire. If you're good at coaxing enemies to go into melee instead of shooting it out at you, you can become very survivable and incredibly destructive. Here is my build with Fire Sword Circle and Fireball. Your very own nuke when you've got Build Up and Fiery Embrace up.

You've also got to account for Against All Odds and Shield Charge. Having good enough Defense and defeating enemies faster is just a win/win combination. The whole of this set is just a really great combination.
