Well, Dark melee is going to be the better pick for survivability if you're pairing it up against Fiery Melee. Dark Melee has Siphon Life to top up your Health often and Dark Consumption to effortlessly fill up your Endurance bar. Fiery Melee just has... damage and more damage.
Also, Dark Melee's secondary is -ToHit. Not a large amount of it, but you can easily stack it up to get a decent amount of -ToHit on your enemies. A nice to have effect, but usually not the main reason that Dark Melee survives better. -
Quote:I almost always get Stamina, Tough, and Weave for my Scrappers. Invulnerability benefits from Tough and Weave.kk well do you guys have any suggestions for what IO's to put in the invul side?
or what power pools to pick?
and.....how much more surviveability is dark over fire? I like to not die.
(edit) I said stupid things here
-
Ever since Invulnerability got boosted, it has quickly become one of my favorite secondaries. If you build it well, that set will live up to its name easily.
Shield Defense has also been one of my top picks for secondaries since its release onto the live servers. Not only will you feel sturdy as hell, you will also feel incredibly powerful when fighting lots of enemies.
Either way, both of these are just so much fun to play and very durable. Do you have a character concept in mind? If you do, that could help you out with picking your Primary/Secondary/APP sets. -
Quote:It doesn't seem that irrelevant to me when you can use it to consistently boost Fire Blast and Fire Ball. That aside, SS's ability to get punch or kick is irrelevant. The only p ower in that set that entirely sucks is Punch, and taking the best ST pool power in the game does not make the sustained ST capabilities of SS that high.
Rage'd Fire Blast can be very helpful with single target DPS. -
No problem. I find I catch myself doing that all the time. Heheh.
-
Quote:Fury. You meant to say that Fiery Melee's DoT is affected by a Brute's Fury, not Rage.Just try actually looking at Billz's analysis rather than just talking about it. You're outright wrong. Brute SS came in 4th, behind saturated Dark Melee, Fire Melee, and Stone Melee. Saturated Dark Melee isn't even a reliable measure of performance for the set, Fire Melee is designed to be the damage king because it lacks secondary effect (and its contributions for Brutes are actually inflated compared to Scrap numbers because the DoT benefits from Rage while it doesn't benefit Critical), and Stone Melee is up top simply because it has obscene damage output thanks to high EPS use.
-
Quote:Why would they ever stop proliferating the left over sets, primary and secondary? I bet you there are still plenty of folks that don't want damage mitigation as their primary and don't want the Fury mechanic with their melee characters, no matter how easy or difficult it may be to maintain. With side switching and the ability to start off neutral with any at on the horizon with GR, I'm not so sure they still plan to proliferate all the sets anymore anyway. Having said that, to those who think the set is 'borked', I guess that is simply an opinion I don't share, assuming borked means providing pefromance well above other competing sets. That certainly is not evident in bills or starsmans studies, or from my in game experiences.
-
Quote:Hooray! I support this! You are awesome for doing the write ups.I'm hoping to tackle some of that on my end. I've been busying myself with doing a lot of analysis to try and deal with specific sets. I've already gotten a few of my changes through and, hopefully, after GoRo hits live, Castle will be able to tackle a lot of the other write-ups that I've got in the works. The problem with Super Strength is really that they would need to tweak the animation times on many of the powers to get it balanced around properly.
You'd be amazed how much players can help out the devs if they actually use analysis and precedent rather than simply blithely stating numbers with vague reasoning. I'm more than confident that we, the players, could speed up a lot of the work of proliferating sets by helping the devs address the problems that are preventing proliferation in the first place. -
I think I might be one of the few (or only one) that likes the Energy Transfer animation and wants that for a Scrapper.
Still don't care what happens to the numbers. Just don't care. More kinds of Scrappers that I can make is one of the major things keeping me going with this game. -
Aye. I'll repeat what I've said. Super Strength is probably not going to be amazing in the single target DPS department. We're going to be getting it for Footstomp, and for a lesser extent Knockout Punch. That set is reminding me of the problem Psi Assault had with Dominators - one extremely useful power and a fist full of unremarkable powers. Something needed to be done about it long before it was ever proliferated.

The video has gone to the Americans! Those jerk hackers ruined it for all of us! We were duped, I tell you!
-
Quote:Yo, Chocobro. I heard things happened in that video. Y'know? There was something in it that made me wonder about something
-
I don't know. Who was in charge of bringing in new people back then?
-
I like this place in Nerva, but I don't bring anyone with me.
-
It wouldn't be much for the folks that hang around on the forums. Without speaking about the content in the video, it really is more aimed at bringing in an outside audience.
-
So that's where the thread went. It got deleted. I was pointing out stuff in the video and wanted to visit it again to see what people thought of the observations, but I guess that will have to wait until a more official thread, with a more official release of the video?

Quote:I understand that I want to give my new characters a nice-to-have benefit, so I pre-ordered the complete collection. If the pre-order bonus is a separate code, I will most likely give away the complete collection to a friend or in some contest. I can't seem to spend too much money with this game sometimes. We believe this would benefit the new players much more, as our veteran players have a better understanding of the options available to them.
-
I pre-ordered it.
If the pre-order code is separate from the game activation code, then I will have a Going Rogue Complete Collection I can gift to someone. -
Broadsword definitely does not suck. I mean look at BS/SD. It does even more damage than Katana/SD! (that's because that combination doesn't exist)
I love Broadsword so much that I have three of them at level 50. One of them is Broadsword/Willpower and the other two are Broadsword/Shield Defense.
Yes, really.
If you don't like looking like you're swinging around a heavy, big *** sharp piece of metal at your enemies, then I don't recommend you play the set. The CRRRUNCH! sound and screen shaking you get out of it is just too much fun for me to let the numbers get to me.
As others have said, there is more customization for Broadsword than its sibling. Twice as much, actually. -
Argh. I must know about these "five GameStop exclusive character power enhancements"!
-
Well that was fast.

Quote:Wow, that's a spendy one! Very nice, but spendy. Thanks for putting this out here. This is a build that is similar to the one that I used to solo the ITF. It does have some endurance issues in this build.
I made this build before i17 because my old build had some BotZ and so I created a new build, but I was unaware of the changes to the procs.
Hope this helps with some ideas, something to go off of, a good read etc...

An interesting idea with Focused Accuracy. I might have to go with that!
Dark Consumption and Conserve Power are there to recover from -Recovery or -Endurance attacks against me. The passive Resist Recovery/Endurance I've got is nice-to-have, but just doesn't cut it.
I can't do Shadow Maul. I just can't, hahah. I detest that power. -
ORACLE, thank you for posting that excellent build for me to work off from! I tweaked it around and boosted the F/C to 36.6% and E/N to 37.3% Defense. S/L Defense is still at 46%. I am very excited to get this build going. Most of the expensive stuff has already been bought too.

I've never deleted a level 50. I could use more character slots beyond the 36 per server.
