I usually take Flashing Steel because I always play with large amounts of enemies.

Some things you will enjoy on your characters listed:
Weapon sets have had their awkward pauses at the end of their animations trimmed, so they animate faster now and you can use another power soon after you swing on your Broadsword. I loved my Broadsword characters after this change. Doing an attack chain is just so much more fluid.
Invulnerability got some buffs to it too, including higher resistances for its passive powers. Where you may remember it was decent before, it shines now. That set went from "never played" to "one of my favorites" in the tweaks it has received.
Dark Melee got its Midnight Grasp damage front loaded, so now you've got a big burst attack on the set. Siphon Life got a damage boost so now it is great attack too. I absolutely love the set after the buffs and where Siphon Life wasn't part of the attack chain back then, it very much is now.
Go explore the new sets that have been ported over as well as the completely new sets that made their way to us. It's a good time to be a Scrapper. -

Good!
Quote:I just think the scrapper version shouldn't look like you have the strength of The Hulk.
Lets be clear here, you say the "Scrapper version shouldn't look like", as in look like visually, or as in the numbers aspect? The former should stay intact, but the latter should be left to the developers and not player squabbling.
There is only one thing I expect out of the numbers: it will do more damage than the Tanker counterpart. That's pretty much a "no duh," since damage is our primary, not our secondary. -
Hi, I'm one of those people that would play it on a Scrapper because of concept. Because of the particle effects, because of the animations, because of the sounds, because it is Super Strenghth and that is a concept I have for many characters that are waiting to be made.
Nice to meet you. -
I think you're probably right on that. All this time I didn't think, "Hey a much more powerful graphics card in my system! I'm totally going to need more power to run that beast!" Hahah.
My PSU was pretty good back in the day, but I guess if I needed a graphics card upgrade I also needed a power supply upgrade too. -
Oh, and if anyone happens to have a good PSU in mind don't be afraid to link it for me.
-
GPU running at 80% fan speed now instead of factory default. Stays at 40 Celsius. CPU isn't going over 55 Celsius. Framerate is rocksteady.
PSU is something I'll have to look into at a later time (sooner than later) but so far so good. -
Quote:Hey there's something I didn't think about. I have a 500 Watt power supply, but it is only powering the SSD, motherboard, and GPU. It was working flawlessly under WinXP and the new GPU upgrade, so I hope my PSU isn't failing on me now.Rivatuner is the first one that comes to mind. Of course, it does a lot more than just monitor temperatures, but it will allow you to monitor those.
Another thought about these problems that no one has brought up, there is a chance that your PSU isn't putting out enough power to support that graphics card. Kind of a shot in the dark since I can't see what kind of PSU you have, how old it is, etc. and my first instinct says that its a heating problem as well, but something else to keep in mind. -
Quote:I did this test as you've specified, but I have no idea where the GPU temperature log was put?FurMark has a realtime GPU temp graph on the test screen, and it is an excellent Benchmark program. This version is supposed to work with Win 7, but I haven't tested that personally.
Select these settings.
Run Mode:
--Stability Test
--Log GPU Temperature
Window Params:
--1920x1200
Do NOT use Xtreme Burning Mode. During the test, I would run it for two minutes (or just until temps get too high). The test can be stopped by hitting the ESC key. -
The trial version of Hmonitor doesn't allow for GPU temperature readings. In the end it was a hassle to run the thing on long test runs so I just got Core Temp so I could, at the very least, monitor my CPU.
If you've got a free program that I can use that will monitor my GPU temperature, I'd be happy to give it a whirl. -
So I opened up the side of my case and let some more airflow through. The CPU was running at 56 Celsius for the high temperature and 32 Celsius on the low. Is mid 50s fine to be running at? Dragon Age seemed to stay at around 55 to 57.
Later in the day I will be using some compressed air to clear out some leftover dust I may have left from my previous cleaning.
Hoo-freakin'-ray. I think we've finally come to the issue. Why is heat becoming an issue now? Do I need to put some more of that heat transfer goo between my CPU and heat sink again? -
Just to be sure, my operating temperature for my CPU should be around 40 to 50 Celsius, correct?
-
Tremendous amount of thanks to all that have pitched in to help me fix this problem. Seriously, I freakin' love this community.
No really. I mean it so much.
THANK YOU.
I did a previous test to see if it was, in fact, a problem with heat. I found no issues with it but then again the test wasn't very thorough. On SSD wear and tear, TRIM helps prevent writing and rewriting in one spot over and over.
I do not have a pair of GTX 285s though, just one. The manufacturer is XFX. I will be doing a test monitoring temperature now. -
If this were a memory leak, wouldn't my memory usage be climbing up towards 100% when I play games? I've monitored system memory on my other screen while playing and usage just doesn't seem to go above 60%.

Quote:As requested:With that kind of gradual performance degradation, I'm finding it rather hard to believe that the driver is the issue. It does indeed sound more like performance throttling due to overheating.
Post a CohHelper log (link in my sig) so we can see what kind of system build you have.

Bad news: I tried the drivers from 185.85_win7_64bit to the current 195.62_win7_64bit and all of them have caused this odd behavior with my system. I've tried looking around the net for others that may have gone through this problem but I just can't turn up anything. This is concerning.
-
Alrighty, well tonight I begin the process of finding out which of the past 64bit (Vista or Win7) drivers are best for my system. If it turns out that this performance degradation isn't a result of drivers, then I'll be really worried.
Still waiting on je_saist to say if they've experienced the same thing on 64bit Nvidia drivers under Win7 64bit. If I happen to be the only one experiencing this, then I guess that's another thing to give me worry. -
Oh? That works?
I will give it a try! Thank you so much for that tip! I wonder which driver I should get? -
That's terrible. So it was caused from my switch from 32bit to 64bit. Eventually this will pan out, but I wish I had known about this issue before so I could have waited on upgrading. Oh well.
So just to make sure je_saist, you do have the performance degradation across the board when running an Nvidia card on a 64bit OS? Eventually CoH runs down to single digit frames per second and stays there? -
Guys and gals, I've got a bewildering issue with my system. I've thought and thought about what the problem could be and every test I've run has given me no clue as to what is going on.
My issue is as the title says, performance degradation. Main system specs are:
2.0 Ghz CPU
GeForce GTX 285
4.0 GB RAM
On an Intel X25-M 80GB SSD running Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Anymore info needed? Any program I should use to spill my computer stats onto the boards? Tell me and I'll get right on it.
Right now from a fresh system reboot I will be running CoH at 60 frames per second and then as I play longer my performance degrades down to a startling 7 to 8 frames per second. I am running CoH at 1920x1200 resolution on a dual monitor setup with all the graphics settings turned up to the max. It is not just this game, however. Dragon Age runs at 3 frames per second. This makes no sense. I had less RAM when I was running Windows XP 32bit and I was running CoH and Dragon Age flawlessly on the same settings.
So what could be going on here? I've done a memtest to see if my RAM is bad, I've poked around to see if my switch from HDD to SDD could be an issue, I've reinstalled my graphics drivers several times. There is absolutely no warning flags going off that I can think of in regards to my system. Is this in regards to a 64 bit OS? Is this the cause of damaged or failing hardware? Something else?
Any help would be appreciated and thanks so much in advance. -
A community rep has said you can get a help ticket going to solve the issue if you were supposed to get the loyalty program badge but were not issued one.
There probably is something you can do about this so don't get upset and give up just yet. -
There is no Praetorian Nemesis. He died a simple toy maker and nothing more.
