I'm still waiting for Pious and myself's joint-win from June.

Nominating for Creative Award for January if they ever return
[/ QUOTE ]
I've still got to win the June one first. -
On the 'What do you do when bored of CoX?' thread, I posted this little gem;
[ QUOTE ]
Having now played some WoW for the past few days, as I got it ridiculously cheap from work, I can scientifically say the following is true;
City of Heroes/Villains and World of Warcraft are both fundamentally the same thing: TV gameshows. There is an objective, and people must work as a team to get to it, thereby winning the prize, such as a level up, or Recipes/Loot.
The difference comes in the type of gameshow. City of Heroes features a variety of themed zones, in which short, intensive tasks must be completed to gain enhancements. The more and better enhancements you have, the more time you'll survive in the end instance of Hamidon.
CoH/V is The Crystal Maze.
World of Warcraft features a much more free-roaming world, with less of a secular feel to the areas. Yes, the areas are different to one another, and have their own themes and challenges, but it all flows in one continuous whole, like traversing a country. Traversing the country performing various simple and sometimes inane tasks to track down some treasure.
WoW is Challenge Anneka.

As I'm in the christmas spirit, I want you, yes you to come up with an analogy for City of Heroes/Villains, which of course, can invlove other MMO's as I've done.
They can be compared to anything at all, though the official board guidelines still apply. You can be serious if you like, but the ones that make me laugh are more likely to get the prizes, because I'm fickle that way.
I will be offering three Influence/Infamy prizes on Union for the best entries, which are as follows:
The Prizes
First Place - 1,000,000 influence
Second Place - 500,000 influence
Third Place - 250,000 influence
The Rules
1.) All participants may submit no more than two analogies, in post form to this thread. If you submit two, and then come up with a third one, you may choose one prior submission to be discounted.
2.) The above replacement can only be done once per participant.
3.) If you're the artistic type, pictures and diagrams are allowed, but will not 'boost' my rating. Content is what counts.
4.) The closing date for entries is the 22nd December, so that I can try and get the prizes out before christmas.
5.) All influence prizes are on Union only, as I have around about 1,000 influence in total on Defiant, unless a generous sponsor wants to help out.
6.) There is no word-limit to your analogies. But be reasonable.
Happy analogisinamising! -
Characters:
The Inquisitor : Level 10 Blaster
Server: Union
H/V: Hero
Global: @Maximillian
Current Story Arcs: None at the present. -
I would certainly be interested in this SG, if it ever got off the ground. It's certainly a better fit for one or two of my characters than the 'above board' hero groups.
I'm entering exam-period at University in the next couple of weeks, so there'd be some evenings where I'd be unavailable, until after the 12th, when I'm freeeeeeeee.

Lo i find it very funny that this has somehow gotten 2 the point of being a philoshical chat about time wen its a game and as we all now anything is possible in games.
[/ QUOTE ]
More importantly, a game about comic-book superheroes, where all different methods of time travel are possible.
I think that in the end, everyone's personal rendition of time-travel will work, so long as nobody tries god-modding everything, for one simple fact:
We've already had time-travel plots for over two and a half years now. -
As I've said over on the Militia forums, for time-travel, I'll always follow the 'Marvel way', in that you can go through time with no problem, but good luck on actually ending up in the right timeline.
I expect the 'science' behind the Marvel way is similar to Zortel's post, in that you can go back in time, and doing so means that even if you end up in the right timeline, your presence there automatically causes a 'diversion point', which means the timeline no longer leads exactly the same way to the future you came from.
Brief diagram HERE
In fact, what you would have to do, is find a timeline that's reasonably different to your own, but that by having your presence there, will change it into your own timeline. -
[ QUOTE ]
Heh, on the plus side this did all help one of my characters get mightily drunk trying to find a sample of this plague
And it provided a new chat up line for him :P

"I'm infected, cure me." ? -
((Writing this now seeing as I crashed.))
11th November 2007 23.50pm
The sickness is all but gone. The physical one that is. There's still a sickness out there, with the help of justice, I am part of the cure. I have no idea why they would want to stop the cure from being administered, but still, they keep trying.
I surveyed a possible vantage point by the Freedom Corps in Galaxy City this evening. Unfortunately, there was a gathering of more conventional heroes there, which impeded in my study of the area.
Somehow, they managed to track me down again as well. Two of them, undercover. Obviously trying to find out why I was there, so that they had a solid case against me. Well, I was having none of that, so I played the fool, as much as it turned my stomach to act like so many others of the precinct.
I'm sure they took the bait, and will report back that I was mostly harmless. That'll keep them off my scent for a week or so.
I re-read some of Frank's reports today during some downtime. He tells of how he blew up a bar to dispose of some criminals. I think I'd use something less explosive, like tear gas, and just keep the doors locked. Less messy, less illegal. -
11th November 2007 10.42am
They've done something to me, I can feel it inside of me. Don't know who it was, but it's causing my insides to ache. I can take a guess though, it's not beyond them to not want me to continue my work, not when I'm currently without a license.
Damn them.
11.02am
An envelope was slipped under my door whilst I was making some coffee. All that was written was "Nanotech virus. Pocket D." I stood silent for a minute or more.
11.34am
I just realised the irony of my last statement.
14.00pm
I'm feeling a little better. I can move without feeling like I'm going to implode. Thankfully, one of the tech-guys I'm still in contact with exposed me to an EMP wave for a few minutes, which should have destroyed enough of the nanobots to ensure I'm fit and well by tonight, as my own bodily defences can do the rest from here.
15.24pm
Even though the sickness is fading, I still feel fatigued. It's like I've not gotten enough sleep lately. I wonder if it's them again. -
I think this situation could have been partially avoided, if prior notice had been given on the forums. Whilst at Pocket D, I saw the small string of OOC conversation, where Gash_jackel realised he'd forgotten to put the information up on the boards before starting, having only gotten it on the Wiki thus far at that point. (At least, that's what I got from the conversation)
I think this just a lesson to be learned, that in future, give some warning, even if you think of something on the night, if it's something as wide-scale as this, hold it back an evening, and make sure people know beforehand.
EDIT: Added the word 'partially', as you know, I doubt it'd be totally avoided. -

Frank Castle never had this much trouble finding, well, trouble. It makes me sick to the stomach to think of who I might have been associating with tonight, and yet, there was nothing I could do about it. Vile, murderous types, that need to stand trial for what they've done, and all I could do was drink coffee.
Beforehand, I went on patrol as usual, the twilight hours, less chance of being spotted by my ex-colleagues at the precinct, and not out so late as to stir suspicion from my landlord. I think she suspects something. I need to get out of here, but I need to find somewhere to go, without her knowing. She's probably spying on me right now.
There were no real threats out on the streets. Some thugs I incapacitated, and delivered to the precinct. Frank's got the right idea, but I draw the line at killing. Makes you not much better than them, so sticking to the tranqs and non-lethal weaponry. I dread the time that's going to come when I need to go one step further, but justice needs to be served.
And all of them milling around, drinking and talking as though crime was a nine-to-five job. Believe me, you never clock-off from crime, and I'll find you. It may be tomorrow, it may be a year from now, but I'll find you.
I was so tempted, but I stuck with the coffee. One day at a time. -

As always, suggestions are welcome. And, as always in the past, there is no removing M30 Grenade. -
With the advent of Weapon Customisation in Issue 11, I decided to go and make an Assault Rifle Blaster to compliment my Corruptor, and went for /Elec, as I've never tried it before.
So, just need to check from any /Elec veterans, what powers are best to pick, and what would a recommended slotting be?
Any advice will go towards a build which I'll post up once I remember where to re-download Hero Builder from. >_>
Thanks in advance. -

That was _Max_, he did that and a story too.
[/ QUOTE ]
Indeed it was myself. Unfortunately, due to getting the plague with an added dose of Sinusitis in the last week of November, I only managed to get to 43,000 words, and 40-odd pictures.
Plus I missed a University exam, which was sort of bad, but not quite as bad. Mostly as I'd already passed my module on coursework alone. -
[ QUOTE ]
That works for me, especially since i didn't get nominated. If it helps I'll not take up the forum title, just so long as i get the free game time
[/ QUOTE ]
You can have my free game-time if I can have two board titles. -
I say we just declare that everybody wins June. Even the person whose work was in July.

[ QUOTE ]
You mean THIS?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, what do you mean? I don't know what you're saying but I read all sorts of implications. Nevertheless, if the Galaxy Girl venue encompassed the entire roleplaying community, then that Wiki would be perfect. Fortunately, though the Galaxy Girl crowd may be the core, it is not in the slightest the mass of our roleplaying community. Thus, I suggest something similar to that Wiki, but on a wider, general, more global scale.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Galaxy Girl one could be updated/expanded etc. so that it does encompass roleplaying as a whole. The last update listed was back in April, so a discussion with the site owner (Leif_Roar) and the members of the RP community should give a 'Yay' or 'Nay' to the idea.
It just seems silly to me, to start entirely from scratch, when there's already a chunk of the full project sitting there already. -
How about in slow motion? And maybe from a different camera angle?

Looking back at June, I may be wrong, but it seems that Pious' Acting Avatars, and my own Rocky Horror Hero Show were the only two new creative things posted in June, with everything else being a continuation of existing threads.
If it is in fact a two-horse race, I'd be willing to accept a joint-award, as both pieces of work are wildly different to each other, and trying to compare one against the other has got to be a rather trying task, seeing how there's bother-all similarity between the two.
[/ QUOTE ]
There were definately more than two new creative topics in June. But it was a nice try...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I got proven wrong by the nomination for Tom-Cat's work earlier, so I've just missed that one, and any others people may care to point out. My search-fu is weak this time round.
[/ QUOTE ]
Max, you're forgetting about this ?
[/ QUOTE ]
And that, yes. Can we stop rubbing it in that I can't use the Search function properly? -

Aww dang, you're making me feel guilty. I think both of us put a lot of time and effort into our respective works, which is why I'll still root for a joint-award for this month.
