    Used HP

    [/ QUOTE ]

Basically, this is my laptop gaming machine. HP calls it a 'multimedia' machine, but it turns out that all the hardware you need for a multimedia machine (watch TV, DVD, video editing) is exactly what you want for a 'gaming' machine.

It has the right level of NVidia graphics so that you can turn up the GFX to medium-high (on a laptop!). And unlike some of the other laptops, it has a separate numeric keypad, which is important for gaming. And, unlike the first choice, it has an AC adaptor!

Mind you, it's heavy and runs hot and has a short battery life (like most 'gaming' laptops). This is not something you can pull out and use on a plane or classroom. Think of it as a very portable desktop computer rather than a true laptop. In fact, this laptop falls into the category of "desktop replacement laptops."

But I tell you this, you'll be able to dual box on that one machine.

  2. Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of these two programs:

<ul type="square">[*]CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
[*]HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format &gt; Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

OH MY GOD is all I can say. Maybe some people out there find him a cake walk but wow.

I attempted to hold his aggro at range ... BOOM! ... Oh yay my bots are gone, at which point his DOT made short work of me thereafter.

I attempted to hold his aggro at melee ... Swipe Bash ... two hits for 400+ damage and I was defeated.

I thought nosferatu was hard but dang at least I was able to defeat him.

Anyone else care to share their humiliating defeat at the hands of this menace?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see where he as any DoT attacks.

He only has that one ranged AoE attack, so, I recommend staying at range.
  4. There are 10 arms leading out from the main lava chamber. You come into the mission in one of those arms. The altars appear at the end of 5 of those arms, randomly chosen.

Tips for stealthing the altars: Get the SG invisibility empowerment buff, it doesn't suppress upon clicking items. If you don't have that, ordinary double stealth (SuperSpeed + Shadowfall, e.g.) will make you completely invisible and allow you to click on the altars that don't have guards close to them. For the ones that do have guards close to them, you can sometimes fly/hover behind a cliff or stalactite/stalagmite and still click through camera angle manipulation. It's good to have the Combat Monitor for Stealth up to keep track of when you are and aren't stealthed. And if you can't click without being seen, then you want to have high enough defense to not get hit, or a control power, or expendable pets to allow you to click in peace. Having fly and a phase power (both purchasable redside) really help, too.

Also, do not let anyone stealth around who does not have the ability to click an altar with a spawn on top of it. They're not helping by clearing the fog of war off a map making it unknown which arms were cleared or not. All they do is run around clicking the ones they can and then announcing, "there's one here" for the others and running off leaving everyone guessing exactly where that was.

If you don't have the firepower to kill the AVs easily, then having the two AVs fight is a good idea. Once they start fighting, help Infernal and kill Bat'zul first. He's much harder to kill than Infernal simply because Infernal doesn't run all over the place. (Plus, if your having trouble with Infernal, you can get him in the lava, which damages him.)

If you are stuck with fighting Bat'zul, I've found that the arm of the map you come in is horrible for fighting Bat'zul because he too easily falls off and gets stuck in the canyons of that arm. Clear out the arm opposite the one you came in and pull Bat'zul that way. There is nothing for him to get stuck in there.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Charged based powers/rewards however, such as the tailor tokens require a consecutive 24 hour period to earn one.

Wait until the last login shows 1 day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? If I'd known that, I'd have complained about it!

    And now, I will!

Logging in for a half hour every day would prevent the charge from ever charging, and that's not the spirit of off-line rewards.
  6. To reiterate:

Time logged out is recorded in seconds and is cumulative.

Rewards for being timed out don't kick in until a large amount of time has elapsed.
  7. They would alternate work and not work depending whether the month had an R in it.

They were originally designed to be a 'leader board' when it was envisioned that street sweeping would be a major feature of the game.

But with all the new content over the past five years and changes in the leveling schema which makes leveling go much faster, street sweeping is an only occasional and minor activity in the game. There have been no outcries from players to get it fixed, so, even the players aren't interested in it.

Thus, it's current state of non-working-ness.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
reverse the order, if i remember correctly, the game reads binds/macros from right to left, not left to right.

    so /bind key "cce 1 ccspin$$emote none"

    should, in theory, work

    [/ QUOTE ]

Binds are read from left to right. It seems like they're read from right to left when you have a bind with several conflicting commands. The ones on the left are read first, but then superseded by the ones on the right making it appear that the rightmost one has priority.

This is a case of an active toggle forcing combat mode thus overwriting both the none and the cce emotes.
  9. I think it was originally set up that way back in the day when a game box was $50. The limitation of just being able to apply a game edition code just once protected you from buying box after box paying way too much for that free month instead of just buying the much cheaper time at $15 a month.

They made an exception to the rule for the *GAME* Card Edition, which is $20 and can be stacked and which allows you to renew the one-month Jet Pack as well as the free month time. (Or, you can pay $15 a month for the game and get the Jet Pack renewed each month for $5, which winds up being the same price of $20.)

All the other editions that give an in-game goodie do not give a goodie that expires, like the Jet Pack of the GAME Card. So, applying them month after month is making you pay $20 a month for the month's play-time and with no extra benefits. That would be a price gouge on NCSoft's part, and they're protecting you from that by not allowing the rest of the Editions to stack.

And, it's a safe guard against theft: The code from the GAME Card is activated at point of sale (the cash register). This ensure you paid for your month. If you steal a whole bunch of GAME Cards, you couldn't use them since they wouldn't be activated. If you steal a whole bunch of boxed editions (Architect or GvE) and they allowed edition-stacking, you'd be able to use them as free months on the same account. The limitation on stacking prevents that.
  10. The advantage of a monthly subscription model is that if the Devs want to continue to have a job and a paycheck, they need to constantly improve and update the game to keep subscriptions steady or improving.

If everyone paid up front, human nature, such as it is, would create a sore temptation for the Devs to lay back and not hustle since they have all the money they're ever going to get.

Besides, I've always taken advantage of the savings of a yearly subscription and the even further discount for a year's advance that was part of the Winter's Event promotion. I got close to a free year out of taking advantage of those deals over the past 5 years.
  11. You have *a lot* of other programs, processes, and services running in the background. When you turn up all the GFX bells and whistles, you're going to be maxing out the CPU or the GPU, and any other program running in the background is going to then impact performance.

You can surgically go in and start disabling all these programs/services, or, recommended for such a spaghettified registry: 1. back up data; 2. make sure you have an OS install disk; 3. reformat hard drive; 4. reinstall OS; 5. reinstall programs while running HijackThis to see which ones are aggressively inserting themselves into the startup registries and stopping it; 6. reinstall data.

Check out this to understand your HijackThis: http://www.pchell.com/support/hijackthistutorial.shtml A well-behaved program starts up when called (clicking its start icon) and dismounts itself from memory and running processes when closed. Aggressiveware installs itself, usually without getting your permission, into start up registries and loads you with bogus 'helper' processes which are designed mostly to keep themselves installed and on your mind as a form of advertising.

Here a list of programs/services that do not have to be running all the time (there *may* be a device which requires a startup program, but most of the device 'helper' programs that start on boot-up are unnecessary):

  15. No, the point of a quote is to see the quote you're quoting. Unless I move closer to the monitor or squint my eyes or highlight the text, I can't read it. So, in effect, I have no idea what you're quoting making actually quoting something a waste of everyone's time.

So, actually, if you put these macros in the defeault keybinds.txt file which gets loaded automatically each time your run the game, then it will create those default macros on every toon every time.
