    Going Rogue

After 16 Issues, you will have had to pay for 2 of them.

Only one if you waited two years for City of Villains to be included with City of Heroes.

If you wait two years, I'm sure you'll get Going Rogue for free, too.

    Travel Question

Here are the new numbers since the Hover and Fly buff last issue:

    Hover: 14.2 mph
    Hover w/ 1 Fly SO: 16.6 mph
    Hover w/ 1 Fly SO + Swift: 18.5 mph
    Hover w/ 1Fly SO + Swift w/ 1 Fly SO: 19.2 mph

    Thus Bonuses to Hover....
Fly SO in Hover = +2.4 mph to Hover
Swift = +1.9 mph to Hover
Fly SO in Swift = +0.7 mph to Hover

And thus the value of 3-slotting, taking ED into account:
3 Fly SOs in Hover = +6.8 mph
3 Fly SOs in Swift = +1.9 mph

So let's say you 3-slot Hover with Fly SOs, your Hover will be: 21.0 mph.
Add Swift and one Fly SO in the default slot of Swift, your Hover will be: 23.6 mph (that's +2.6 mph)
Two more slots in Swift will bring it up to: 24.8 (that's + 1.2 mph).
Six-slotting both Hover and Swift with Fly SOs = 26.2 mph (that's +1.4 mph over 3 slotting both)

Therefore: For increasing Hover speed, extra slots in Swift aren't worth it.

Note that Quickness in the Super Reflexes powerset offers the same bonuses as Swift and stacks with Swift.

And now, for Fly (at level 50):

    Fly Speed: 45.2 mph
Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly = 51.7 mph
    Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly + Swift = 53.6 mph
    Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly + Swift w/ 1 Fly SO in Swift = 54.3

    Thus the Bonuses to FlySpeed...
Fly SO in Fly = +6.5 mph to Flight Speed
    Swift = +1.9 mph
Fly SO in Swift = +0.7 mph to Flight Speed

And thus the value of 3-slotting, taking ED into account:
3 Fly SOs in Fly = +13.4 mph
3 Fly SOs in Swift = +2.0 mph

Just two SOs in just Fly will take you to 58.2 mph, which is just .4 mph short of the fly cap.
Fly with one SO and Swift with one SO is 4.3 mph short of the fly cap.
Two level 50 IOs in Fly will hit the fly cap.

    For comparison:

    Run Speed: 14.3 mph
Run Speed + Sprint: 21.5 mph
Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO: 23.9 mph
    Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO + Swift: 28.9 mph
    Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO + Swift w/ 1 Run SO = 30.5 mph

    Thus the Bonuses to RunSpeed....
    Sprint = + 7.2 mph
    Swift = +5 mph
Run SO in Sprint = +2.4 mph
Run SO in Swift = +1.6 mph

    And thus (with ED):
3 Run SOs in Sprint = +6.8 mph
3 Run SOs in Swift = +4.7 mph

So let's say you 3-slot Sprint with Run SOs, your run speed will be: 28.3 mph
Add Swift and one Run SO in the default slot of Swift, your Run speed will be: 35 mph
Two more slots in Swift will bring it up to: 38 mph.

    And now, Jump:

    Jump Speed: 14.3 mph
    Jump Height: 4 ft

    Jump Speed + Sprint: 14.3 mph // 4.4 ft
    Jump Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Jump SO: 14.3 mph // 4.5 ft

    Jump Speed + Hurdle: 32.1 mph // 10.7 ft
    Jump Speed + Hurdle w/ 1 Jump SO: 38.1 mph // 12.9 ft

Jump Speed + Combat Jumping: 14.5 mph // 12.0 ft
    Jump Speed + Combat Jumping w/ 1 Jump SO: 38.1 mph // 14.7 ft

Thus the Bonuses to Jump Speed and Height...

    Sprint = +0 mph JumpSpeed // +0.4 ft JumpHeight
    Hurdle = +17.8 mph JumpSpeed // +6.7 ft JumpHeight
Combat Jumping = +0.2 mph JumpSpeed // +8.0 ft JumpHeight

Jump SO in Sprint = +0 mph JumpSpeed // +.1 ft JumpHeight
Jump SO in Hurdle = +6.0 mph JumpSpeed // +2.2 ft. JumpHeight
Jump SO in Combat Jumping = +0.07 mph JumpSpeed // +2.7 ft JumpHeight

So, for increasing unsuppressable JumpSpeed, 3-slotting Hurdle is your best move (anything else is *very* inefficient) which would make your JumpSpeed = 49.1 mph.

Websites that offer free screensavers are as reputable as ones that want to give you free animated emoticons -- they're not. Get rid of it.

You also have a bad Logitech install going on with the same .dll being installed for start-up over and over again. Check out this thread for someone with the same problem.

See here for info on how to interpret your HijackThis report. On a 'clean machine' you really shouldn't have more than twenty lines of registry entries.

Nivieve posting about her/his love of its alt, mod 008 beheein smooth operating.

I believe NC go the month's results, and the french restaurant turned into a bbq grill on a motorway .

Not like i really mind, but if i was at NC's i d be more straightforward.

If you got somethin to say to the customers, say it.

Even though if its "we gotta close".

    Translation:

I'd like to give everyone a heads-up about the state of the game and maybe it's imminent demise based on my observation that the forum operators (or 'OPs' as I like to call them, though everyone else calls them 'moderators') are behaving in a most peculiar way:

I've seen lately that Nivienne posted about a fondness for one of her alts and Moderator08 has also posted in a discussion in a jocular fashion and he has become a smooth operator in his friendly demeanor even while handing out policy warnings.

I believe that NCSoft's monthly bottom line showed a severe downward trend precipitated by dissatisfaction with the Developers and the forum OPs and word has come down from the corporate office that those who are providing us service need to abandon their haughty attitude that one would commonly associate with the wait-staff of a French restaurant and instead show us some deep-south hospitality of a Barbeque roadhouse.

Not that I have a vested interest in the whole situation, but if I were the corporate authority at NCSoft, I'd be more transparent about the whole process and institute real reform rather than demand the OPs adopt a charm offensive to gloss over the real deep seated issues.

If you have something to say to the customers, then say it with all honesty and transparency, even if the honest answer is "We're not going to make any real changes, and if that leads to our customer base leaving and the game closing, so be it."

[Through nearly incomprehensible ramblings over imagined slights does my NERDRAGE!!] happen.
  9. On the new 5th Strike force, there's a small room with an AV and three spawn within agro range. I immediately Black Hole the furthest group to keep them out of play until the other two spawn are dealt with. After we cleared the room I said, "I want to go on record that Black Hole was used in a strategically sound way that helped us survive."

It also helps to make a macro for it, mine is:

/macro BH "local $target and surrounding foes have been put in a Black Hole and are unaffectable$$powexecname Black Hole"

    Remember, it's AoE.
  10. Dark Miasma has that one-two punch: One of the best AoE Heals in the game, and if the teammates miss the heal and die, the best and only AoE Rez in the game (full health and endurance recovery of several teammates at once plus and AoE stun of foes).

However, if you have a team that just charges in on Invincible and aren't doing their share of damage mitigation and expect a 'healer' to make up for their poor builds, poor play style, and poor tactics; don't play with them, they're doing it wrong.

There is no need to restrict yourself to just one server. In fact, it is a darned good idea to have characters on at least two servers, one east coast, one west coast. That way, if some act of god takes out the East Coast Server Farm, you can still play on one of the West Coast servers until they can bring the east coast servers back on line.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gadz, even the game's Server farms!
  14. Take a Dark Defender with you. They can debuff your Defense to zero, but it won't matter if they only have a 5% chance to hit you.
  15. Well, you don't have /leaveteam bound anywhere. You do have this: CTRL+TAB "nop", which is normally bound to target closest. I just tested to see if that would tab one over to the quit team button, and it doesn't

It may be a case of a 'jumpy' mouse. But, I'm out of ideas.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
    hi guys,

so i'm level 4 now and my first contact can't give me any more missions, and the second contact he pointed me to is in another zone. And it looks like i can't travel out of my zone yet. Is it normal that you can only do a few missions in the first zone or am i missing something?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Street sweep until you are level 5 and then go to the Hollows to talk to Wincott. But, don't do any of Wincott's missions until you are level 7 because that's the average level of the hunt missions he'll send you on... doing it two levels under the level of your foes at level 5 is very painful.

So, street sweep 'til you hit level 5. See Wincott, but don't take any missions from him. Go back to your contact.

Or... drop the mission to see Wincott.

When you hit level 5, go to Kings Row and a Detective will be added to your Contact List Window. Go to see that Detective. That will unlock the Police Scanner which will now appear in your Contact List Window. Click on the Scanner to get a Police Scanner mission. Do three of them and that will fill up the Detective's confidence bar. Go back to the Detective who will give you a Safeguard Mission (stop a back robbery). If you do that successfully, you'll get a Temp Fly power. And whether or not you were successful, the Detective will introduce you to a new contact.

Don't forget that at level 7 or 8 to go back to the Hollows and do Wincott's arc. The four contacts in the Hollows tell an overarching story and doing mission in one zone is easier than the contacts of Kings Row, Steel Canyon, and Skyway who send you all over creation on their arcs.
  17. Update:

Items stored in the Market inventory slots no longer are lost if your toon is inactive for more than 60 days. So, go ahead and use the Market to store Respec Recipes if you want without fear they'll disappear.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
    According to Paragonwiki:
"As of Issue 11 characters are now able to earn Respec Recipes as rare drops from the enemy defeat recipe pools which, upon crafting the recipe, the character will receive a Free Respec as long as that character currently has no Free Respecs."
Are respec recipes like purple drops (i.e., they have a 1/5000 chance in dropping)? Or are all those respec recipes sold at WW the result of Respec TF completions in Terra Volta?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Guide to the types of Respecs

In short, the Respec Trials give "earned respecs" which can not be traded or sold.

The Respec Recipes you see on the market are very rare drops that happen from defeating foes that con green or higher. When you craft one, it turns into a 'freespec' on your character. See the guide linked above for more info.

Video Device Name: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's the culprit. Integrated graphics chips are great for web browsing, not so good for high-end video editing, graphics modeling and manipulation, nor for high-end 3D gaming. City of Heroes is definitely high-end.

Now, you already have all your graphics turned down. That was step one.

Step two is seeing if you can update your graphics driver. Check with Intel and Dell for a more recent version. Also, check with Dell to see if there is a more recent driver for the motherboard chipset/CPU. And make sure you have DX9. While you're check with Dell, see if your laptop can take a graphics card update.

Step three is posting your HijackThis, please, see the link above.
  20. Why doesn't Posi look at me?

    Because you're wearing clown make-up.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Why do you suppose you can encounter pve enemies that con purple in Bloody Bay? If you know everyone there is 25th level why not limit foes to that approximate range? I would think everything there should con blue-orange... maybe a red boss.

Or are the threat-level colors based on something besides your sk/exemp'd level in BB?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some areas are more hazardy than others. Look at the map. You'll see yellow, orange, and red shaded borders. The red zones should be +2 to you and the purples are bosses which 'con' +2 to you. 2+2=Purple.
