get swift from the fitness set and put some fly enhancements on it, then enhance flight itself. that will speed you up

    [/ QUOTE ]

Extra slots in Swift do very little. Unless you're Granite or PvP hardcore and are trying to get every tiny bit of unsuppressed RunSpeed as possible, the extra slots provide negligible gains.

Here are the new numbers since the Hover and Fly buff last issue:

    Hover: 14.2 mph
    Hover w/ 1 Fly SO: 16.6 mph
    Hover w/ 1 Fly SO + Swift: 18.5 mph
    Hover w/ 1Fly SO + Swift w/ 1 Fly SO: 19.2 mph

    Thus Bonuses to Hover....
Fly SO in Hover = +2.4 mph to Hover
Swift = +1.9 mph to Hover
Fly SO in Swift = +0.7 mph to Hover

And thus the value of 3-slotting, taking ED into account:
3 Fly SOs in Hover = +6.8 mph
3 Fly SOs in Swift = +1.9 mph

So let's say you 3-slot Hover with Fly SOs, your Hover will be: 21.0 mph.
Add Swift and one Fly SO in the default slot of Swift, your Hover will be: 23.6 mph (that's +2.6 mph)
Two more slots in Swift will bring it up to: 24.8 (that's + 1.2 mph).
Six-slotting both Hover and Swift with Fly SOs = 26.2 mph (that's +1.4 mph over 3 slotting both)

Therefore: For increasing Hover speed, extra slots in Swift aren't worth it.

Note that Quickness in the Super Reflexes powerset offers the same bonuses as Swift and stacks with Swift.

    And now, for Fly:

    Fly Speed: 45.2 mph
Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly = 51.7 mph
    Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly + Swift = 53.6 mph
    Fly w/ 1 Fly SO in Fly + Swift w/ 1 Fly SO in Swift = 54.3

    Thus the Bonuses to FlySpeed...
Fly SO in Fly = +6.5 mph to Flight Speed
    Swift = +1.9 mph
Fly SO in Swift = +0.7 mph to Flight Speed

And thus the value of 3-slotting, taking ED into account:
3 Fly SOs in Fly = +13.4 mph
3 Fly SOs in Swift = +2.0 mph

Just two SOs in just Fly will take you to 58.2 mph, which is just .4 mph short of the fly cap.
Fly with one SO and Swift with one SO is 4.3 mph short of the fly cap.
Two level 50 IOs in Fly will hit the fly cap.

    For comparison:

    Run Speed: 14.3 mph
Run Speed + Sprint: 21.5 mph
Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO: 23.9 mph
    Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO + Swift: 28.9 mph
    Run Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Run SO + Swift w/ 1 Run SO = 30.5 mph

    Thus the Bonuses to RunSpeed....
    Sprint = + 7.2 mph
    Swift = +5 mph
Run SO in Sprint = +2.4 mph
Run SO in Swift = +1.6 mph

    And thus (with ED):
3 Run SOs in Sprint = +6.8 mph
3 Run SOs in Swift = +4.7 mph

So let's say you 3-slot Sprint with Run SOs, your run speed will be: 28.3 mph
Add Swift and one Run SO in the default slot of Swift, your Run speed will be: 35 mph
Two more slots in Swift will bring it up to: 38 mph.

    And now, Jump:

    Jump Speed: 14.3 mph
    Jump Height: 4 ft

    Jump Speed + Sprint: 14.3 mph // 4.4 ft
    Jump Speed + Sprint w/ 1 Jump SO: 14.3 mph // 4.5 ft

    Jump Speed + Hurdle: 32.1 mph // 10.7 ft
    Jump Speed + Hurdle w/ 1 Jump SO: 38.1 mph // 12.9 ft

Jump Speed + Combat Jumping: 14.5 mph // 12.0 ft
    Jump Speed + Combat Jumping w/ 1 Jump SO: 38.1 mph // 14.7 ft

Thus the Bonuses to Jump Speed and Height...

    Sprint = +0 mph JumpSpeed // +0.4 ft JumpHeight
    Hurdle = +17.8 mph JumpSpeed // +6.7 ft JumpHeight
Combat Jumping = +0.2 mph JumpSpeed // +8.0 ft JumpHeight

Jump SO in Sprint = +0 mph JumpSpeed // +.1 ft JumpHeight
Jump SO in Hurdle = +6.0 mph JumpSpeed // +2.2 ft. JumpHeight
Jump SO in Combat Jumping = +0.07 mph JumpSpeed // +2.7 ft JumpHeight

So, for increasing unsuppressable JumpSpeed, 3-slotting Hurdle is your best move (anything else is *very* inefficient) which would make your JumpSpeed = 49.1 mph.

Is anyone keeping track of some of these occasional odd bits? They come up JUST often enough that it'd be nice to be able to say "here's the fix" in a collected list. There's probably one somewhere, but is it up on, say, the wiki?

    Remember the mechanic:
    - then overcome its magnitude to port it. As far as I know based on level, and not subject to modification.

    [/ QUOTE ]

See my post above. I broke down the Magnitude mechanic. Both level and rank of the foe affect the Magnitude. Accuracy/ToHit does not.

    [ QUOTE ]
Unless it has been changed, outcomes are:
    - miss. Target not aggroed.
    - hit and overcome magnitude: target teleported, aggroed. May trigger aggro from others mobs near target, same as a regular attack, though this can be ameliorated by distance, stealth type powers.
    - hit and fail to overcome magnitude: target not teleported, is aggroed and starts to close on you, same remarks about adds as above.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it's not been changed, and you have this wrong. See my post above.

If the foe has less than 2.1 Magnitude of Protection, you will TP the foe if you make the to hit check.

Whether or not you TP the foe, there is a 50% chance for a 1 second Taunt with a 10 ft radius at the foe's location.

Why would you post something so contradictory to something already posted in a thread so thoroughly footnoted?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I could have sworn I used to teleport yellow lieutenants all the time. I thought orange was the limit. *shrugs*

    [/ QUOTE ]

You might be misreading: "So, Yellow lieutenants and lower you can TPFoe."
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I did give that a shot - usingg copy-paste from emeditor to CoX - and it still yielded squat. Maybe I've got the directory tree wrong?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I got it to work. I cut and pasted your code into Notepad, saved it as temp.mnu, and made a macro which has the command: popmenu briarcostumes

    1. Did you save it to the right directory: C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\data\texts\English\Menus

    2. Did you save the file with a .mnu extension: BriCoz.mnu

    3. Did you use the right macro command: /macro "Bcoz" "popmenu briarcostumes"

    4. Did you use Notepad so that you have pure ASCII file and not rich text or proprietary mark-up coding or encoding in the text?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Since i got my iPhone, I've been posting to the forums from it a lot whilst im on breaks in work etc.

yesterday, Safari sort of froze, so I cleared the history, cache etc.

Now I login to the forums as i used to and after entering my username and password and even accepting 'remember me each visit', when I hit 'login' it take me to my home page but still says 'you are not logged in' at the top. If i go to any page on the forums it's the same - I'm not logged in.

Before yesterday, I'd stay logged in forever. I never had to re-enter my password unless I actively logged out first for some reason.

Obviously, this is pissing me off no end.

    Anyone have any ideas?

This Proc is listed as causing 6.0 pts of Knockback. Will this always cause Knockback and not Knockdown? I guess what I'm trying to determine is at what stage Knockback becomes Knockdown points wise since I know they check the same statistic. I'm thinking that anything less than 1.0 points of Knockback causes Knockdown but, I could use some clarification. Thanks in advance.

Anything less than .75 does KD. See: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Knockdown

Delete the coh.checksum file from the CoH directory and reboot.

Wow thanks Zombie_Man that was exactly the information I was looking for although not the awnser I was hoping for.....I love grabbing mobs with my TP and dropping them right in the middle of my ninjas

    [/ QUOTE ]

Pick up Team TP. Once you've thinned the herd, you TP yourself and pets onto the Boss that can't be TPFoe'd. Same effect.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Domination doesn't affect power magnitudes. It affects the length of their effect (as well as increase the damage of your attacks). Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, and Confuse effects will be lengthened by activating Domination.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I could have sworn that Domination mode used to increase power magnitude by 1?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Inherent_Powers#Domination :
    <ul type="square">
Domination doubles the magnitude of the villain's own Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immobilize, Fear, and Confuse effects for their normal durations, then keeps them going at normal magnitude for half that amount of time longer. Debuffs and other secondary effects are not improved.[/list]
So, yes, it does increase Magnitude, but not for TP Foe.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
But can't you still "pull" them even if the TP itself fails? I know I've done it on many occasions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes: 50% chance for a 1 second, Mag20, 10 ft sphere of Taunt.

If you look at City of Data: http://coh.redtomax.com/data/powers/powe...on.Teleport_Foe

You'll see TPFoe summons Residual Ether pseudo pet; and if you scroll down, you'll see the taunt effect.

I've used it to individually pull the Lieutenants of the STF.

  18. Teleport Foe has a Magnitude of 2.1.

The magnitude of protection by foe rank is:

    minions: 1
    lt.s: 2
    bosses 3

Thus, TPFoe works v. minions and lieutenants.... if they're even con to you.

When foes are a higher or lower level to you, the Purple Patch kicks in and it affects their Magnitude.

When a lieutenant is +1 to you in level, they are at a 1.1 multiplier to their TPFoe Magnitude Protection, making it 2.2. And since your TPFoe power is lower than their Magnitude of Protection, then it won't work. So, Yellow lieutenants and lower you can TPFoe. Orange and higher, you can't.

When a minion is 10 levels above you, they will hit that threshhold of 2.1 Mag Protection and you can no longer TPFoe them.

When a boss is 3 levels or more below you (Blue, Green and Grey), you can start TPFoeing them.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You know, one more thing I'd like to see is for enhancements that don't need a level associated with them (e.g. +7.5% Recharge, Chance for Extra Damage, etc.) to, well, not have levels associated with them. Or if they do, make them all level 1 (level 50 for purple IOs to match up with the rest) and be done with it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would mean being able to slot them at level 1 which I don't think the Devs (or myself) would like to see. Although, a good argument can be made to make them level-less and slottable at level 7 (which is really the same thing as making them internally level 10).

The level-lessness of these 'procs' would then take away the confusion over what is a proc (for which exemplaring level doesn't matter) or a Global Special IO (for which exemplaring level does matter). E.g., the 7.5% Recharge you refer to is actually a Global, not a Proc.

Manticore-- in regards to the 5th Column question, what that person is getting at is that parts of the new TFs contradict established canon, aren't well explained, or make little sense. Have you read the Hero and Villain TF feedback threads? We've had no response to the story issues raised in them aside from the replacement of Akarist with a Malta AV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In fact, I just posted about this in the SF Feedback thread.

The original Axis America mission disappeared when the Council took over (and they were replaced by the Council Empire).

Remember how that was a continuity nightmare with a heavy-handed cut-and-paste of all 5th Column references replaced by Council references such that it seemed that the 5th Column was retconned out of existence rather than historically taken over?

The Ouroboros TF brought back the 5th Column as really being part of the history of the game world and not retconned out of existence. The Imperious TF furthered that.

And now with the 5th Strike and Task forces, they're actually back and in our time line. However, in the Barracuda Strike Force, we visit Reichsman's home dimension and...

REICHSMAN'S DIMENSION IS COMPOSED OF ONLY 5TH COLUMN FOES!

That is very, very jarring, since that is a complete rewrite of the history of Reichsman's origins. Now we're back to a heavy-handed cut-and-paste of Axis America being replaced not by the Council Empire this time, but by our own Primal Earth 5th Column troops, which directly contradicts what you, Sean, are saying about the 5th Column being solely a Primal Earth faction.

I appreciate how, by player requests, Lord Recluse's tone and demeanor has changed and how Akarist was pulled from the Task Force. But, our notes on the mysterious absence of Axis America and the mysterious ubiquity of the 5th Column continue to go unaddressed.
  21. Since NCSoft bought out the IP of CoH from Cryptic, they invested in hardware upgrades to the servers, gave the Paragon crew an excellent Silicon Valley address (a stone's throw from the Google compound) and their own studio, and enabled Paragon Studios to go from 20 employees to 50 employees.

Sit down and calculate the cost of employment, including benefits, for a whole year for an extra 30 people. Also consider that they've continued hiring in the past half year even while the economy was tanking.

No one should think that Paragon isn't getting funded. It is very clear that NCSoft is investing heavily in Paragon Studios with the hope that future paid expansions, like Going Rogue, will put the CoH franchise on a track to increase in subs and compete with competition, and continue to be profitable for a long time. There is still growth investing in Paragon Studios, anyone who argues against that is just wrong.

Whether that would continue if Going Rogue doesn't do well is another matter. Until then, NCSoft is one hundred percent behind investing in Paragon Studios.

    [ QUOTE ]
No, every single time I have seen someone explain IMHO, it's always been "honest opinion", not humble.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The idiom which people usually say aloud is "In my humble opinion,...." That is the more likely reference to IMHO. That's what it meant back in the days of Compuserve forums before 'The Web' even existed.

Also, there's IMNSHO, which doesn't make sense if the 'H' stands for 'honest.'

    Google fight:

"In my humble opinion" - 1.3 million hits
"In my honest opinion" - 0.1 million hits

"in my not so humble opinion" - 96,300 hits
"in my not so honest opinion" - 148 hits

    INMSHO - 121,000 hits

It's barely maintained and updated by those who may be on the take from RMTers who simply copy over the good information from Paragonwiki.com (which they unfortunately can, because of the free license agreement on all wikis), and they do so poorly (just compare their 'recent changes' page to paragonwiki's 'recent changes' page).

  25. Two +2 SOs (73% flight speed buff) will hit the flight cap now. Two level 50 IOs (83% flight speed buff) go way over the flight cap. Two level 30 IOs are all you need to hit the flight speed cap with common IOs.

If the OP is two-slotting with Freebirds, then there is only 42.4% enhancement of flight speed if the FLIGHT one is being used at level 50. For all we know, the two Freebirds could be END and STEALTH with no flight movement enhancement.

If it's just that one FLIGHT enhancement, then the OP's flight speed at level 50 is 53.5 mph. The OP can throw in an extra FLIGHT SO or an IO to hit the flight speed cap of 58.6 mph.

By comparison, SuperSpeed with one RUN IO at level 50 is 85.7 mph.

One has to remember that right after ED happened, six slotting Fly with all FLIGHT SOs no longer hit the flight speed cap. That you can do it now with just two SOs shows how much it's been buffed recently.
