OK, then. I'm out of ideas.
You might want to open up a Customer Service ticket and go through their steps and diagnostic tools. -
Quote:For the previous years, Trick or Treating was operating in Co-op, PvP zones, and Hazard zones.
Are there any problems with the event occurring in any City Zone? (Note: The event will only be present In Paragon City or the Rogue Isles City Zones, and not in any PvP Zones, Hazard Zones, Trial Zones or Co-Op Zones)
If it's happening in those zones again this year, should we report that as a bug? -
Quote:Lost from the copy pasta of the other announcement posts:Can you post what the new accolade will do and or should be doing assuming its not bugged? Will the accolade even have a bonus/power?
- Are all badges awarded correctly?
Dark Fiend - participate in defeat of Dark Fiend Banner
Hell Hath No Fury - participate in defeat of Women Scorned Banner
Terror - participate in defeat of the Transparent Terrors Banner
Monster Masher - participate in defeat of the Monster Mayhem Banner
Monstrous - participate in the defeat of the Aspect of the Sigil Giant Monster
Hell and Back (Accolade) - receive Dark Fiend, Hell Hath No Fury, Terror, Monster Masher, and Monstrous badges to earn this Accolade

I remember cars and garbage canisters being nearly impossible to destroy at low levels while cardboard boxes were always easy. Same as it ever was.

Hold on to the mission and do it again after you've leveled. One level can make a big difference.

Quote:Or from Accolades or IO bonuses, etc....also, from what I hear, if he has bonus HP from say dull pain or high pain tolerance those don't count either.
It's only healing hp that dips below base hp.
My level 50 MM, which only has about 735 base hp is over 1,000 hp due to bonuses. Healing me from 735 and upwards isn't going to count for the badge. -
Find any nerdrage thread and take the Dev's side.

Quote:You'll get even faster help in the game with the help channel. Click on the help tab and use the /hc command and type something like...Yes, it was a police band mission. I just dropped it. I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to reply. I have to say that I have played many mass multiplayers over the years but I have never seen a community respond so quickly to a player's request for help on a message board. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
/hc I have a waypoint pointing to a AE building and there's no door to click to take me to my mission.
It's also helpful to join one or more of your server's global channels. Look for the names of them in the forum here with your server's name, or, right click on an empty space in a chat window and do a search for global channels... just use your server's name and you'll likely find 'em. -
Imagine putting huge weights in the trunk of a car such that the rear end is riding very low.
Now imagine taking that heavily laden car on a speed race up a mountain.
That's what's happening to your GF's computer: it is heavily laden with all that background stuff. Three-D gaming is like a race up a mountain, it is *heavily* taxing to a computer. There should be *almost nothing* running in the background of a intensive 3-D game like CoH. I'm actually surprised any of the other programs don't have problems too. Plus you have intrusiveware like Yahoo and AOL trying to take over your operating system making sure you use their products.
Look here to understand the HijackThis log: http://pchell.com/support/hijackthistutorial.shtml
Unless you want to teach yourself on how to hack away at that spaghettified registry, the easiest solution, and the one that makes older machines run CoH extremely well is a clean reinstall of the Operating System. You would....
1. Make sure you have an Windows install disk (or wait a few weeks and get Win7).
2. Back up all user data.
3. Reformat the hard drive.
4. Reinstall Windows. Run all updates (you're behind on the Windows updates right now as it is). Turn off Indexing (under properties of the hard drive).
5. Update all drivers for all devices including the computer's motherboard's chipset/CPU (go to manufacturer's website).
6 Reinstall your app and run HijackThis after each install to see if that app is adding junk to your start-up registry.
7. Reinstall your personal data. -
Quote:Please answer my question at top.In what way did it not help? You couldn't get back into the game? You crashed again right away? Or after another few hours?

Then post the results of this program:
- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.
Also, you're down to the last 10% of your hard drive, which starts to freak Windows out. So...1. Go to control panel and then Add/Remove Programs and get rid of any programs you don't need any more.
Also, there's been a slight memory leak in the game, causing it to start out using 800k of RAM and then creeping up to 1.5G of RAM. Even for computers with many times the amount of RAM, hitting the 1.5G mark makes the game unstable. If that's happening to you (check Program Manager stats), then use the command /unloadgfx to flush the memory about once an hour.
2. Go into Windows Explorer (not the Internet Explorer) and right click on your C: drive and chose Properties. Under the General Tab, you'll see a button for Disk Cleanup, run it and get rid of deleted (recycle bin) and temp files.
3. Under the General Tab, make sure Indexing is not selected. Unless you need to do quick searches of your documents on a regular basis, you don't need this. It may take a while to propagate the un-indexing to all the sub-folders.
4. Go to the Tools Tab and click on the defrag button. Run the defragger. It may take an hour or two to defrag. Make sure the computer doesn't power down during it (you'll find power options where you change the screen saver -- right click on desktop...).
Did you clean up your hard drive as suggested?
Did you monitor your memory usage by way of Task Manager and try the /unloadgfx to keep RAM usage to under 1.3G? -

I know I was actually ignorant of the fact that international laws were such a swine, something that was remedied as soon as people brought up the actualy reasons.
Sorry some of us aren't such knowalls.
Secondly, are you saying that you've *never* seen the 'fine print' of contests excluding the participants outside of a particular jurisdiction?
Quote:You now, back in the day, we (EU people) had our own team that organised events like this for us ... Support for the EU went down fast ever since they closed that down. Makes you wonder why NCSoft still bothers with keeping us around.
You mean like how they gave out costume codes at a game convention in Cologne just this past August?
And, hey, I'm in the US and they've never organized anything on the Eastern Seaboard. You've been lucky if you've had an event a few hours away. I've got to take a 6 hour flight for any of the Paragon-organized events. So, don't make it a geopolitical slight, it's just a geographical slight.

/bind <key> "buycoh$$dialogyes"
That worked for me (activating the bind on the keypress) three times in a row without crashing. You definitely do *not* want to put a "+ $$" in front of it. -

To further expound on question #2....
It's important to keep Defense and Resistance in mind when figuring out damage.
Defense determines whether you got hit or not. If an incoming attack has three components (e.g., smashing/energy/AoE), then if you have any Defense against any one or more of those components, you take the highest Defense number, and that will be the one that determines if you got hit.
If you do get hit, then Resistance comes into play. If you have different values of Resistance versus smashing and energy, then each Resistance value is used against each component. Smashing Resistance reduces the amount of damage of the smashing damage and Energy Resistance reduces the amount of damage of the energy damage.
So, in short, with Defense, the highest applicable Defense value is used.
With Resistance, each applicable Resistance value is used.

For further clarification, you'll tell 'the guy' you want to build and you'll then have an instantly created 1x1 entrance room. *Then* you can enter your base, which is just that 1x1 entrance room, and once inside, then you can add to it by spending prestige. Don't forget to play in 'SG mode' so you start earning prestige.

Tried rebooting, didn't help.
